Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Started my career mode with United a couple of weeks ago and quite ironically my form has closely mirrored Moyes' start at United.

I've been playing 10 minute halves on World Class difficulty with Orion's sliders.

One of the first things that I did was get rid of Anderson (sold to Newcastle for £4m) and bought Ross Barkley from Everton for £6.5m. Really like controlling Barkley as his dribbling (as in real life) is very useful and he also has a great eye for a pass too

Been really struggling so far this season in all honestly. Just hit the Christmas period ingame and we are just outside of the Champions League zone. Just scraped out of the Champions League group stage as well after losing 2 of the first group matches and drawing the third. Managed to win the final 3 games in dramatic circumstances to earn myself a last 16 tie with Bayern Munich.

One of my biggest problems is holding on to results. Thrown away so many leads and have drawn far too many games. So far in the big matches I've been completely outclassed.

RVP's form so far has been indifferent. I just can't seem to get the best out of him in most matches. Same goes for Kagawa too.

In the upcoming January window I'm looking at getting a long term replacement for both Carrick and Ferdinand so I've sent my scouts out far and wide in the hunt for talent.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Just migrated my Leeds United career to a new website. Feel free to check it out. I'm six games in with a financial takeover. Only bought young players who might go with the prospect of premier league play next season. If I don't make it, then I sell them, as they wouldn't stick around another season in the Championship.

I play on Legendary with Orion's sliders. Link is in my sig.

Two players with the same overall could have vastly different values based solely on their age. Likewise, a lower rated youngster could be worth more than a player of similar age & rating due to potential.

Can anyone expound on this? Is it just me cherry-picking data, like Janusaj selling for 200k?
He had less than 12 months left in his contract, this impacts players value. Disregarding age.

Depends on how fast you want to move up,and if you intend to stay with them forever. I went with Leeds, because of history and that they have three kits. QPR has a ready made team to make the step up to Premier League again, and also has three nice kits. Millwall also has three kits, and would be more of a challenge I would think. If you really want a challenge go with Yeovil Town, only two kits, but they're cool, low star rating, and almost no budget.

My career mode has been completely migrated to the website in my signature below. Just played my seventh game in total (2nd round cup tie against Liverpool). I'm archiving all my stats, and roll with Orion's sliders (slightly tweaked) on Legendary, 15 min halves. I know some people are always looking for stats to inform, so fee free to check out. I should have at least one game updated a day, and as of right now I don't intend to sim matches, although I'm tempted to sim every other league match, but having too much fun to sim at this point.

Did you add players to your squad before starting?

                Btw Rafinha is a beast.

I did a scenario where Bates sells the club, and used a financial takeover. I started a career and allowed for the transfer window, and then went about seeing what I could buy. After confirming this, I went back and customized the squad with those players, and then started a new career with the transfers turned off. I wanted to ensure that big name players stayed where they were at. My plan is to get promoted, or else I will sell off some of these young potential stars, as I don't think they would want to stay in the Championship for a second season, but for the first season it is perfect for their development.

And...yes, Rafinha has been a BEAST for me. I initially got him to rotate on the wings, but as he had the best finishing on my team at a 72, I put him in the center of my 4-3-3, and he has delivered! He will be my go to striker the rest of this season at least! Bruma has been clutch for me when I need to come up with something big, but Rafinha was the man against Liverpool last night. If you've looked at my site, in the About Me I have my custom tactics which have worked awesome for me in the 4-3-3 attack formation.

Well, after looking at some of the kits in FUT, I decided to go with S****horpe United. I'm off to a rough start so far at 0-1-0 getting beat in the first game 2-0. Going to be tough when most of the subs and reserves are rated in the 50s and 40s. Need January to come real soon so I can hopefully improve the club a little bit. Sent scouts to Spain and the USA, so hopefully I can bring some talent int.

Should be a fun and frustrating CM.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

After not playing this game for a couple weeks I finally came back after the patch to try and find me some nice slidrs and thankfully I did. With Matt10's sliders the CPU can FINALLY score on me so I am really excited...

Going to roll with the Chunnam Dragons in the K-League. I usually roll with Burton Albion in League 2 but I get burnt out playing the 60+ matches in one Season. The 30ish games in the K-League seems perfect for me... and looking at the teams it looks like a pretty fun League.

Also a lot of cool Uniforms in the K-League. Going to be fun updating this.

I just randomly chose Morecambe in 2011 cause their kit was awesome. I've use them in Career even today

S****horpe is the one I selected this year. Kits look great, moderately decent budget. Should be fun once I get into it a bit more.

                            Story

After Chelsea were vancant in the manager position and with Jose Mourinho appointed as the new chief executive he decided hired me. I've been at the club for 10 years coaching the youth teams and with Jose Mourinho liking my playing style he hired me as the head coach.

                            Transfers/Squad

After looking at the squad I noticed that the squad was short in the Right Midfield/Winger area (only have Moses that is on loan and I don't have him in my future plans for now) so I bought Pedro from Barcelona for £25,000,000 (using the scouting system). I also bought Kurt Zouma for £5,000,000 for depth and a replacement for Terry. I want to develop the talent on the team not buy it we have some brilliant young gun's (Piazon, Atsu, Chalobah etc). I want to develop Chelsea as the next Manchester United develop but when needed buy big. During the three friendlies I rotated the three strikers (Torres, Eto, and Ba)
the three CAM's (Mata, Oscar, De Bruyne) and the three left midfielders (Hazard, Willian, Schurrle) to see who should be in the starting 11.

                            Starting 11
                            Cech
                            Ivanovic Terry (c) Luiz Cole
                            Lampard Ramires
                            Pedro Mata Hazard
                            Torres
                            Bench
Cahill Azpilicueta Mikel Oscar Schurrle Eto Schwarzer
                            Key Reserves
Zouma Kalas Bertrand Essien Van Ginkel De Brunyne Willian Ba Hilario

                            Playing Style

In attack we play a possesion style where we will play the ball around the middle until a winger is free where he can dribble down the wing to cross or shoot.
In defence we play a high pressure trying to steal the ball before they enter our half so we can start a counter attack.

                            Results

We have played the first three friendlies where we lost the first drew the second and lost the third. Our first game was against Lyon, I put out a reserve side with them dominating us they scored early and we couldn't get ourselves in the game, we lost 1-0. Our second game was against Lorient where we started well but they score just before half time against the flow. We came out firing with Schurrle scoring late to draw the game 1-1. Our Last game was against Almeria with a strong lineup. We dominated the first half with 7 attempts on goal before the half. The second half Almeria dominated us with them scoring late to win 1-0.
Next Game: Hull in the league at home.

                            Other

                            Major Transfer:
                            Benzema to Arsenal
                            Lewandowski to Real Madrid

I hired a scout for £6,000,000 and sent him to England for 9 months

So 2 questions before I buy this game:

#1 Has the menu lag been addressed via patch at all???

#2 I heard that getting a job offer and/or successful application for a better job in manager mode was really really hard. Can someone confirm/deny this?
