That's also another good way to do it. If you're still in any cup competitions you'll be nice and exhausted come November.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Team: Portsmouth
League: Football League 1
Difficulty: Legendary w/ Gonira/Orion Sliders
Objective: Finish Mid-Table, Round of 32
Played 2 more games yesterday having bumped the difficulty up to Legendary. Had a 1-0 loss to MK Dons and a 2-1 win in extra time against Brentford in the J. Paint Trophy. I play with shot error @ 53, CPU pass error @ 61, and keepers @ 47 and so far Legendary feels like just the right amount of extra difficulty for the challenge I'm looking for. I'm currently in 6th place with 20 points after 11 games, with MK Dons in the lead with 26.
My objective from the Board was to finish mid-table, and that was fine with me when the season started but my team is competitive enough now to at least contest for a playoff spot. We're currently 2.5* in a league where the strongest team is 3*, and with our talent and rate of growth it's conceivable that we could be 3* by the end of the season. At this point, since I play every game, I can't picture anything less than a top 10 finish. Let's see how that holds up over the course of the season.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Team: Nottingham Forest
League: Barclays Premier League
Difficulty: Legendary, Orion sliders/Zjac line sliders, 10 minute halves
Objective: Finish Mid-Table, Round of 32
The journey continues. Since my last update, I've gone up and down in the league, but managed to reach the QF of the league cup against Chelsea and qualify for the Euro League knockout stages. Also got a couple of my games wrong in terms of home/away so the coming weeks aren't as bad as they seem.
Right after I beat Lille 2-1 at home, I lost to Southampton. I'd only got a day of rest in between, so I played Ultra Defensive. Unfortunately, I forgot about halfway through the game when I felt I could pinch a goal and went forward. Went 1-0 up in the 73rd minute but conceded a silly goal ten minutes later, and then Lallana scored a screamer to win it for them with a couple of minutes left.
Dispatched Dagenham 3-0 without trouble, then had Arsenal at home. Scored early with Biabiany, and they equalised through a deflected goal that went to Ramsey. Ended 1-1. Kortrijk in the Euro League was next; played the reserves and won 2-0. Manchester United at the Theatre of (Broken) Dreams and Byram, my RB, scores in the tenth minute. I went looking for a second but no go. Second half, I managed to hold on through a late onslaught to win it. Forster came away with a 9.8 rating after making 16 saves - sixteen! Had West Brom a day's rest later at home, where I managed a 0-0 draw.
Next games are Chelsea and Villa in the league, and Chelsea in the league cup QF. Looking forward to that, but Benteke is in excellent form for Villa - 14 goals in 13 games, top scorer in the league by some margin.
Gomis isn't cutting it for me. He's got just four league goals in 12 games, but more importantly I just don't feel great using him. He's not a small fella but the guy concedes possession like crazy, can't seem to keep the ball. Really laggy in the box too, and seems like his shot is weak. Might sell/upgrade in the winter, any suggestions? Got 12m pounds in the bank and could get more from the board, wages no issue.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Im in the middle of a busy schedule where fatigue and injuries can play a part, how deep is your guys rosters?
Mine for only 40- 50 game season in MLS I have a roster of 21 players that i feel confident In that i could start them any game when needed(I have 4 other players I would only play if it was my last choice! lol selling all 4). Some of the 21 playing out of their natural place on the pitch, when needed.
My only semi-area of need is a natural LB/RB to back up starters. I think im gonna get rid of a midfielder Farfan cuz I wanna keep the number around 21, to keep everybody happy with playing timeLast edited by RonMexico1992; 12-06-2013, 02:28 PM.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Didn't retain the Dutch Cup with PSV, but did manage a late season surge to capture the league.
Maher really broke out, and Vestergaard emerged as the dirtiest and toughest CB I've ever used in the game.
Willian was as advertised and led the league in goals with 22. Had two hat-tricks along the way. Bakkali emerged as a true star, and Depay handled demotion behind Willian tremendously well (after leading the team in goals the prior season).
I decided to move on to Blackburn after the season. It may seem a bit of surprise leaving a loaded club headed to the Champions League, but I was ready for a pay raise, and the exposure of England for my future job prospects. Plus, I'm interested to see what I can do in the Championship with a former Premier League winner. They have a big transfer budget so I better have a good year.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I usually run a 25-man squad with two players in every position, with one extra striker, winger, and full back. Those three are usually very young guys, often from my youth academy, who have the Future 1st Team Player roles; backup in case I need someone to fill a position that usually fatigues. They get maybe 5-8 appearances a season.
Willian really is something else, yeah? I can't wait until I've saved enough to bring him to Nottingham Forest, how much did he cost you and in which window? Also, what are your thoughts on Jozefson?
Jozefzoon was mediocre for me, but progressed fairly well to a 76 in my time at PSV. He just never showed the class as a pure winger that Bakkali and Depay did in the league winning season. He was adequate filling in on the left side, but didn't add much to the attack compared with every other winger I had at PSV. Better than the little guys at holding the ball up, and playing slow inside the box, but like I said, his form was well behind any of, Narsingh, Depay, Bakkali, and Willian.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
just guaranteed my spot in the fa cup final with this jewel of a goal
manual controls, btw
(it's the game against swansea, in case the video doesn't open directly)
i'll have to beat chelsea in the final. it's my only real chance of playing a continental cup in my second season, cos i'm having kind of a shameful campaign in the bpl: 7th place with 5 games to go. only a miracle can put me in the top 5.Last edited by Gonira; 12-07-2013, 09:42 PM.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Finally got around to picking up FIFA 14 today, after much humming-and-hawing over less-than-kind reviews from IGN and Gamespot.
Gotta say, the CM has been virtually revamped and I'm not sure how I feel about how IN YOUR FACE the Global Transfer Network is. When it's not a transfer window, I don't want to see 17 year-old Argentines popping up on my main screen!
That being said, it's been fun.
I'm just doing my first run-through career practice right now with Newcastle. For fun, I spent my entire transfer budget on Christian Benteke in August, and he's been average at best.
I've had a real poor run of form to start the season, and I'm currently sitting 15th in the Premiership with an 0-4-1 record (That's right- four draws)!
In order:
2-2D @ Man City (Good start to the year, reversed a 2-nil deficit)
2-1L @ West Ham (Was disappointing, but whatever)
1-1D vs. Fulham (Conceded the tying goal in the 87th...grr)
0-0D @ Aston Villa (Was a meh result)
1-1D vs. Hull City (This one really ticked me off- 75-25 possession)
Anyways, my dry run with Newcastle is over for now.
Onto my first FIFA 14 Story: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...fifa-14-a.htmlI like sportz.

as i play against chelsea in the fa cup final and they're already qualified for the champions league (2nd place in the bpl with huge advantage atm), this would grant me an europa league spot irl even if i lose, since chelsea can't play both cups.
so i saved the point i'm in and simulated the rest of the season just to see if it works like this in fifa. and it does! i made sure i lost the fa cup final and finished out of the top 5 in the bpl. next year i was in the euro league group stage.
phew, better than nothing =)Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Update on season 2 with Nottingham Forest.
So my mixed fortune in the league continued with wins against Aston Villa (3-1), Newcastle (3-0), and Fulham (2-1); and losses to Manchester City (2-1), Chelsea (2-0), and West Brom (2-1).
In the league cup, I defeated Newcastle over two legs (0-0 home, 2-1 away) to reach the final against Manchester City.
My first FA Cup tie against Watford went 1-1, and I simmed the replay. That ended 1-1 at full time, 2-2 in extra time, and 5-4 on penalties in favour of Watford at the end.
Sold Jamie Mackie to Everton for 1.5m pounds, and I kind of regret giving him a chance because he turned out to be quite unspectacular at the top level. I could have got about 3.5m for him had I sold him in the summer.
I upgraded my targets with the board to get another 5m pounds out of them. Promised to reach the Euro League semifinal instead of QF, reach the cup semifinal instead of R16, and kept the mid-table finish target. Board agreed, and I've now got about 12m to spend on a striker. Suggestions?
Oh, and I managed to sign Oscar from Chelsea on a pre-contract agreement for the same 120k a week and crucial squad role he had at Chelsea! Talk about massive bargains!

Future Analysis
This is how I plan to set my team up for the 2015/16 season.
Forster/Darlow
Byram/Lichaj -- Dier/Lascelles -- Ake/CB -- Cresswell/Indi
Chalobah/Cattermole -- Diaby/Lansbury
Mutch/Mackay-Steven -- Oscar/Andrade -- Biabiany/Abdoun
Gomis/ST
Forster is quickly turning into a beast. He's gone from mid-70s to an 82 for me, and he's England's first-choice GK. Byram and Cresswell are a great pair of English full backs, and Dier is an absolute rock in defense. Ake is a great ball-player, but I want a third CB to rotate with the two. Currently, my central defence is weak in depth. That buy will happen next season, though.
In midfield, the Chalobah-Diaby combination is simply amazing. They have an almost telepathic understanding. Ahead of them, Oscar coming in will claim one of the attacking midfield spots from the off, which means one of my current first-choice AMs has to suffer. Mackay-Steven isn't nearly as impressive as Mutch or Biabiany, so he takes the fall.
Not too sure just yet whether I'm going to play Mutch wide and Oscar central or vice-versa, but both options would work for sure. Biabiany is just monstrous cutting in from the left (already got 14 goals in all competitions for me), so he's safe there. If I can get Mackay-Steven to agree a new contract with a smaller role (currently a crucial player), he'd be a great backup/super sub.
Andrade is the game-changer, though. He comes on late, either in the hole or out wide, and usually gets me a late goal (11 goals in 18 appearances) with his searing pace, and I think he's much more suited to the role of a number 10 than as a striker or CF.
Up front, Gomis has settled and is coming good. He's scored in each of his last 7 league games and is now the Premiership's top scorer with 16 goals. It's likely I'll sell him on for a big fee if he finishes with the golden boot (he's almost 30, and I got him for free), but he'll see out the season with me for sure. I just need a second potent goalscorer.
A few things that might change this:
- I'm considering using Biabiany's searing pace and more-than-decent finishing as a striker. I'm rather good playing in ground through-balls with my attacking midfield trio, but often Gomis just doesn't have the pace to catch the ball before he's surrounded by defenders and the keeper. Biabiany would be able to do that without a problem, and would solve the striker issue I have right now too if it comes off a success.
- If Biabiany is a hit as a striker, I could use him and Gomis up top depending on the opponent and formation. That would leave me with funds to splurge on a pacey player for the wings: Cuadrado, Walcott, Aubameyang, Lennon, Alba, Narsingh, Iturbe, Stoch, and Deulofeu are my options in that case.
- Considering I've got three days and no games left in January, this would mean I'd have to take a risk and not buy a striker/winger this window. If Biabiany works, I'd be short a wide man; if he doesn't, I'll be short a striker. I can solve that by signing Sanogo as a rotation player for a paltry 1m pounds and Gnabry on loan for the rest of the season. If Biabiany proves to be a prolific striker and Sanogo is a good enough backup, I can even sell Gomis altogether in the next window and use that money on an even better winger and centre-back combo, in which case I'd like this team:
Forster/Darlow
Byram/Lichaj -- Dier/Lascelles -- Inigo Martinez/Ake -- Cresswell/Indi
Chalobah/Cattermole -- Diaby/Lansbury
Mutch/Mackay-Steven -- Oscar/Andrade -- Walcott/Abdoun
Biabiany/Sanogo
And maybe a third striker and keeper, too. Y'know, in case.
