Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Had a rough go starting off the Premier League with Manchester City. At home against Newcastle I lost 1-0. Went on the road to Cardiff and walked away with a nice 3-1 victory. Then fell flat on my face in an exciting 3-2 loss against Hull City.
In the Hull City match, Kompany scored early from a cross lobbed into right off a throw in. But Hull City struck back 11 minutes later in the 21st minute to tie it and then 11 minutes later in the 32nd minute to take a 2-1 lead. The same guy scored both goals, I'm kicking myself for not marking him with my CDM after his first goal. Anyways, Jovetic drilled a rocket past the keeper a few minutes later to tie it 2-2 going into halftime.
With the Hull City striker who had a brace being marked, it was their LM who ripped one past Joe Hart in the 56th minute to reclaim the lead at 3-2. I pressured Hull immensely in the last 10 minutes of the match and had chances, but Jovetic drilled one of the post and their keeper, who tackled Jovetic in the box which drew a penalty, then saved Jovetic's PK shot to preserve Hull's shocking 3-2 victory.
I'm 1-0-2 and I can feel the seat heating up already.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
anybody ever buy a player on contract expiry & then when its time for him to come, he goes to another team & it still shows in ur contracts that he is on ur team AND you are playing his wages even though he isn't actually on your team?
Happened to me with Alonso from Seattle to Orlando but he is playing for South Hampton, I don't get it -_- maybe he is on loan until the BPL is over I hope

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I am a couple of games in my third season with Derby now.
I recruited Pogba before the summer transfer window was over, for 14 Mil (they asked for 16.5M but I was lucky to get him cheaper). He came in at skill 83 and is currently my best player. So yeah, I get a rough time getting acceptable results while siming my games. As I said, I play myself only if a game fails to produce a reasonable score after I resim the match a couple of times. It is way much faster than playing the 30 minutes for every game. And unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time at my disposal. But I have a lot of fun playing this way and I don't mind if you think lesser of me. We all have our perception of reality and what makes us happy.
What I wanted to say was that Benzia is stil at OVR 67. He got loaned again this season but it might not help him much. We will see. Could be completely random when a player gets his OVR increase triggered. Perhaps it is decided when the new season is createed what stimulates/ inhibits a players development. Most of my aquisitions developed nicely. Some of my gems are:
- Zakaria Bakkali, RW/LW (started at 73, now at 81 - after 2.5 seasons)
- Nicola Leali, GK (started at 72, now at 77 - after 1.5 seasons)
- N. Chalobah, CDM (started at 70, now at 78 - after 2.5 seasons)
But I have a few "snails" trailing. Such as:
- Bruma, LW/RW (started at 75, now 76). Funny thing is that Bruma is always on top with his form. Good morale also. But terribly slow increase.
- M. Kovacic CM /CAM (started at 77, now 78)
The most exciting is stil the youth accademy, because anything can happen, for better or worse. My scouts are working hard to provide me with future talents. I have a couple of those in the accademy already and I am very curious to see what happens to them once you hit the 1:st of May.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Almost halfway through the 1st season with my favourite team, SK Sturm Graz. I use Orion's sliders, but on prof. and 10 min halves.
In my first season I participate in 3 competitions, the T-Mobile Bundesliga, the ÖFB Samsung Cup and the UEFA Europa League. The goals from the board are to finished in at least 3rd place in the league to qualify for the Europa League next season, to get to the last 32 in the national cup (not difficult, cause there are only 10 teams) and to reach the knockout stage in the Europa League.
After bringing in one depth defensman from Hungary (Attila Fiola, 59, free player) and one young Austrian striker (Toni Vastic, 59, € 300.000) I also sold some of my players and loaned some of them out. For now I have 2 players for each position (and I really need all of them, cause I have a lot of injuries, especially to my first 11), and one young defenseman nobody wanted to give a new contract to. I even wasn't able to loan him out. Gonna try it again in the winter-transfer-window. We'll see if a team needs another defenseman.
For now my first year can eventually become a pretty good one. In the league we are leading by 4 points over Red Bull Salzburg after 17 of 36 games. Next game is against Red Bull Salzburg. Hopefully I can secure a draw, just to keep my 4 points lead. I already led by 9 points, but then I lost 0:1 against SV Ried, which was my first loss in the league this season, and than drawed against SV Grödig. I simmed both games.
In the cup I haven't had a game for now, but the next one is against SK Rapid Wien. Not the easiest team to play against, but I think I'm gonna make it to the next round.
The hardest target (demanded by my board) to achieve is reaching the knockout stage in the Europa League. But, after losing to Victoria Guimaraes, my direct opponent for 2nd place, in my first game (2:0), I was able to draw against Udinese Calcio in Italy and then sent FC Thun home by routing them 4:1. So after 3 of 6 games I sat in 2nd place. Last game I had against Victoria Guimaraes at home. Was a tough match, but I was able to win it 1:0. I'm now 3 points behind Udinese Calcio, but also 3 points ahead of Victoria Guimaraes. Another win and I think I'll reach the knockout stage.
Hopefully this gets me some money aswell. Really need it, as my transfer budget is just somewhere around € 700.000. And I need some players for the next season. I'm basically looking for players, which contracts expire in 2014, but I have a few players on my watch list, for whom I have to pay. Really looking forward to the winter-transfer-window. Just a few games left.
So, that's it for now. If you read until this point, thanks for that, appreciate it. If you have any further questions concerning my carreer or even about Austrian football, do not hesitate to ask. Oh yeah, and sorry for my english, I know, it's not the best.
Cheers,

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
It seems the transfer budget is resetting after each season, which is a bit weird. Is this the "real world model" by the way? I would have prefered to keep the excess money and have them added to my new season budget. It makes more sense somehow since I a in charge of buying / selling and hiring whatever I see fit. And sometimes I sell good players to make room for even beter ones but end up not buying anything. Imo, the board should not interfere cutting my budget and laying their hands on the clubs money, especially if things go smooth and the club is performing. But that is just me.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I forgot to add that I try to use the overflow money to purchase better scouts (normal scout or for the youth accademy). But also keep some buffer for future contract negotiations since some players get fancy ideas once they improve. :PComment

BIG VICTORY OVER RIVAL PORTLAND
Orlando city 2 - 0 Portland Timbers
BIG Home victory to put us into 5th place in the Western Conference against what is quickly becoming our biggest and most fierce rival so far, only 10 games in though. We were able to play good enough defense to keep them from getting to many chances and Eriq Zavaleta was able to make them pay with 2 huge goals to get the 3 points for the purple side.
Youth Academy
I have a LW from England who is suppose to be a world class talent, he looks to be very pacey..... Only 16, so I'm debating if I want to bring him up or not yet.Comment
