I want to use assisted because the stats make difference, in manual they don't make difference, I wanted a sliders setup for assisted.

oh, i get it. the problem is manual passing, right?

well, player ratings still have some effect with manual passing, although really not as much as they would have with assistance.

if you like the core gameplay of sets like orion's or mine, you should probably try bringing pass errors of user and cpu to closer values between them while keeping everything else the same. that huge gap between user and cpu pass error is only there to compensate the higher ammount of errors we do using manual passing.

You could do what I do. I use Goniras sliders but I use semi assist passing semi assist shooting and manual through balls. When I use these sliders the game is fantastic and I really enjoy it. Yea the passing error for computer is a little high but it's still fun. It's worth a shot. Gonira knows what he's doing good work

Update on Nottingham Forest, season 2

I managed to reach the QF of the Euro League with a 2-1 win over Bilbao at home, goals coming from Mutch and Biabiany. Continued on to a four-game winning streak in the league with a 2-1 over Everton before losing 2-0 to Liverpool.

I drew Sevilla in the QF of the Euro League, and the first leg was away. Between Wellington Nem and Kevin Gameiro, they kept hitting me with wave after wave of attack. Of course, they scored the first goal around minute 40 before I equalised just after the break through Mutch. Gomis then put us 2-1 up at the hour mark, and the score ended like that. For the return leg at home, I decided to field a 3-5-2 with Biabiany playing as a striker. The gamble paid off, and I managed a 2-2 draw to take the tie on aggregate 4-3. I now face Wolfsburg in the semi-final, with either Napoli or Liverpool in the title game (if I make it).

Got league games coming up against some tough opponents: United, Southampton, Swansea, Arsenal, West Brom, couple of others, and the season finale with Spurs away, plus possibly and hopefully a Euro League final. I'm almost done with season 2, and I just can't wait to see how things pan out, especially if I can grab my third trophy and exceed board expectations. More than that, I can't wait for season 3 to begin so I can have Oscar in the team, plus hopefully my first world-class striker -- it's the only component I'm really missing ATM.

ugh, after 7 matches unbeaten, & 6 wins.... Orlando City has been in a slump, getting knocked out of US Cup by rival Portland and only getting 1 point in 2 league games..... update later :/

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                Team: Portsmouth
                League: Football League 1
                Difficulty: Legendary w/ Gonira/Orion Sliders
Objective: Finish Mid-Table, Round of 32

This is a small update to precede the January transfer window.

Having played Bury in the 2nd round of the F.A. Cup and Bournemouth in the Area SF of the JPT, I only have 5 league games till January, and those two games were a testament to how varied this game can be.

In the game against Bury there was never a moment where I wasn't in control. I dominated possession, my passes were crisp, my players were very often in positions to receive passes cleanly and setup runs, and I had plenty of shots on goal...27 shots to be exact, compared to CPU's 3. At about the 25th minute I took a shot at goal which was deflected but I was able to get the rebound and fired again...and again...and again. I'm not exaggerating when I say that run of play likely accounted for about 10 shots of my total. Bury was just outclassed for the full 90. Naturally a match I so completely dominated ended with me scoring at least 4 goals right? Negative, 1-0. Of those 27 shots, 15 were on target, and the keeper was playing like a man possessed. I scored around the 35th minute, thinking that was going to be the first of many but alas, the keeper was up to it (not enough though ).

The Bournemouth match was a completely different story. A few things to keep in mind with this one are that I've just moved up from League 2 and am now a 2.5* team, Bournemouth just moved down from the Championship and were a 3* team last season, so presumably they could be more now, and I was playing away. This was one of the most challenging games I've played yet. Being away the game engine did that thing where even though my players were all in great form, they had poor touches, position, and speed. I've already come to terms with the fact that that's the only way the game can give me a loss. Fine, so be it. I won possession 60-40 but that's only because I spent most of the match running away from the CPU because they were hungry. I was finally able to score off a cut in from the left and a shot by my star man Jordan Obita. I breathed a sigh of relief and had resolved to turtle up, at least for the rest of the 1st half, but the CPU wasn't having any of that. They marched, and when I say marched I mean sprinted, down the field shredding my defense as they went along, and neatly tucked it into the bottom corner. The half ended 1-1 and I resigned myself to deciding this with penalties because I was sure there was no way they would let me score again.
The 2nd half was an uneventful back and forth affair, then came a magical moment in extra time. To put this into perspective let me first say that I suck at crosses. SUCK!!! I pretty much never cross and more often than not I take my corners short. If ever I'm looking to bring in a winger I never consider his crossing stat because it's useless to me. I felt so desperate this entire game that I must have attempted at least 7. Anyway, the end of the first period of extra time is coming up, and Obita gets it at LM. I beat the LB outside and I'm gunning it down the wing when I see the fastest player in my squad, Adam Campbell, doing the same, a few paces behind me in the middle of the pitch. The LB is gaining on me fast and I'm running out of room so I hammer it into the box with reckless abandon, right to thigh level of a sprinting Campbell, who scissor-kicks it right into the top left corner, just barely away from the fingertips of their sprawling keeper. I literally had to pause the game and put the controller down to compose myself before continuing. 1st period ends, 2nd begins, I go all out defensive switching to a 5-4-1, and hang on for the win. I couldn't even play another game after that one; I had nothing left in the tank.

My participation in those cups left me two games behind of leaders MK Dons but only trailing by 1 point. In my previous post I said this was going to be a quiet January but I've changed my mind. The player I was ready to part with, Simon Ferry, grew another point to 69. My plan is now to cash in my performance thus far and request funds from the board, hopefully sell Ferry, and buy both my CB and a CAM so I can finally get this 4-3-1-2 going.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I've tried doing the League 2 to EPL thing quite a few times but was never able to really take it all the way. The furthest I got was with Pompey in '13 when I got to the Championship using a financial takeover. That time the only reason I stopped was because my XBOX ate my copy of '13.

My plan for my second CM was to swap one of the weaker "Rest of World" teams (thinking Rangers or AEK Athens) with a League 2 team. Although I'd like a change of pace from England, with 4 tiers a CM in England just has so much more potential.

Now, I'm almost into the 2nd half of my 2nd season with Pompey CM, and it's been good so far, but after the last couple of years and reading about some of the other CMs all over the forum I've got to say: I'm tired of being broke!

While I do enjoy the challenge of managing a team with a lower transfer budget, I've done it for so long, in so many incarnations, that now I'm at the point where I want some money. Not a whole lot, just enough to make 1 or 2 really good transfers per season, instead of dumpster diving. It's looking like it may be time to put my Pompey CM on the back burner.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Update on Nottingham Forest, season 2

Well, I've done it. I managed to WIN the Euro League, and let me tell you how!

The first leg against Wolfsburg was at home, and boy were they tough. The fools had brought in Seydou Doumbia, who combined with Diego to tear me a new one. Lost the first leg 2-1, but they were so much better and could have got five or six goals.

In the return leg in Germany, I set my team up for all-out pace up front with Biabiany, Mackay-Steven, and Andrade leading my 4-3-3 formation. I ripped straight through and scored two goals in the first half before grabbing a third virtually minutes after the restart. At this point, I was headed to a comfortable 2-0 win, and 3-2 on aggregate. But Wolfsburg had other plans; Doumbia and Diego score two fast goals, and I was left needing one more in the last ten minutes. At around 83', Andrade broke clean through with Biabiany's rolling through pass and rounded Benaglio to take me up, but the little Brazilian wasn't done. Just before injury time, he sealed the deal with a magnificent strike from waaaaaaaay out! That was that, and I was off to play Marseille (they went through on penalties against Napoli) in the final at the Parc des Princes.

The showpiece game was a thriller, and I went with the same team that got me to it. Andrade showed his flair by opening the scoring early on; he sent a shot Mandanda's way, which the Frenchman parried only to have Andrade leap up and head it in. And it's 1-0 to the Forest! Unfortunately, a huge blunder let Ayew equalise soon after with a wide open net. I thought I was going to have to bring on some muscle before Mutch managed to break away from the chasing pack and thunder one in, sending me into the break 2-1 up. In the second half, I kept pinging the ball about in the hopes of keeping possession, which worked for a while. Marseille then got the ascendancy, and it was an inspired 15 minutes from Nathan Ake that helped me keep them from scoring. Finally, in the minutes leading to injury time, Andrade repeated his efforts with an absolute belting screamer to send us 3-1 up and secure the title, my third cup/trophy in two seasons with the club!

My last six league games went well. I won three, drew two, and lost one. Unfortunately, that one loss was to Sp*rs and it let the buggers grab the three points they needed to win the title. Bloody cheek. Finished the league season in eighth position with 61 points; Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 to the FA Cup, and PSG beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Champions Cup final, which means I face them for the Copa Europe.

Awarded raises to Mutch, Abdoun, Andrade, and Wilson. Tied Gomis down to a one-year extension to make him easier to sell, and ended the season to rave reviews from my board.

                    Nottingham Forest, season 3

Using the 0:100 trick, I was given an astounding £35.5 million in transfer fees and £170,000 in wages, and Oscar came in on his free deal. The kid is 23 years old, rated 86, and is worth a mind-boggling £36 million! Hope I can resist the inevitable bids from City and Madrid, and hold on to this fella for a good many years!

Right now, I'm still on July 1, struggling to finalise which system I want to use so I can decide who stays and who goes. Placed Wilson and Darlow on my transfer list, and my youth players for loan (except Myles Ince, a 68-rated CDM I promoted before ending the last season). I seem to have an abundance of talent in central midfield but not much depth on the wings. And what really bugs me is that Abdoun and Diaby both want to retire at the end of the season -- they're 29 FFS! I was planning on selling Abdoun, too!

I've already decided that I'm going to be using a 4-3-3 this year, but I'm not sure if I want to use the false nine variation or the standard one with the striker. The regular 4-3-3 is great with a massive target man and two really pacey wingers, but the false nine variation can't be beat for keeping possession and lots of team goals. If I go with the striker, I've already decided that Lacina Traore is my man with Sanogo for backup. For the false nine role, it's Oscar and Andrade, with a switch to a regular 4-3-3 when Sanogo comes in.

The problem is picking a midfield trio if I use the striker 4-3-3. I want Mutch and Oscar playing in a central role, but that's not possible with Traore up front. Biabiany's 82 crossing stat combined with Traore's height and heading ability would mean goals galore, but the false nine has always intrigued me, and Oscar is brilliant at it (I've used him there on FIFA 13). Quite simply, I can't fit Oscar, Mutch, and Traore in the same 4-3-3 without compromising the balance of my team.

I think I'll play my three pre-season friendlies in a false nine formation and only buy Traore if I feel I need him, in which case I may have to seriously consider sending Mutch on loan for a year until Diaby retires.

                    Goalkeeper

Forster is going to have this spot again, but I need better backup than Darlow. Need to find a promising, young keeper and bring him in on a limited role. Also need a third keeper on loan as an emergency reserve.

                    Full-back

Cresswell and Byram are my starters, no question. Lichaj is great because he can play on either flank, so he's backup to both. Ake and Martins Indi are both primarily centre-halves but can fill in at LB in a pinch.

                    Centre-half

Dier and Ake is my preferred pairing, with Lascelles and Martins Indi as my backups. For some reason, Ake hasn't grown despite playing 50+ games last season. In fact, a couple of his stats have gone down a point or two. If I see no signs of any point increase, I'll make a deadline day swap with him for his replacement.

                    Defensive midfield

Cattermole and Chalobah can fight for this spot, and whoever is better will play.

                    Central midfield

This is where it gets tricky. Assuming Oscar plays as a CF, I'll rotate Lansbury, Diaby, and Mutch in these roles, bringing in one of my DMs if I need to in a pinch. Otherwise, Mutch will be sent on loan for a season while Diaby plays out his contract -- that's all I can think of, unless anyone has other suggestions?

                    Wingers

Biabiany and Mackay-Steven are excellent and good, respectively. Andrade is a great backup, but Abdoun is so-so. I'd like to bring in one more pacey but sturdy player who can function as a winger or as a striker. If I sell Gomis and play the false nine, I can really splurge on this position. In that case, my ideal targets would be someone like Reus, Hulk, or Sturridge.

                    False 9/Striker

Oscar all day, and switch to a conventional 4-3-3 when Sanogo plays. Andrade can fill in for both in either system with ease, or go out to the wings and let my striker-winger play in the middle. Could also end up getting Lacina Traore and playing Oscar as a CM.

Starting a career with Corinthians. getting bored of using the same European teams over and over again, so I thought I'd change it up. Picked Corinthians as I like Pato, plus they have the biggest transfer budget in the league. I plan on using the scout a future star to see what they bring in. (side note: anyone use this yet and get someone really fantastic? the next world beater?)

using the default squad until I get a good scout and hopefully will start scouting and get players i can bring in off the bat.

will update in a few hours probably (after first season...I usually sim most)

I like Pato, too. in my Real Madrid CM, he is my back-up striker. I am trying to get him more playing time because his morale is getting low and he keeps whining.

so! finished my first season at Corinthians. finished first with 87 points. was projected to finish 7th, so i'm pretty happy with that result. Also won the league cup as well whatever it is called. Disappointed with the lack of match variation though... might try to browse for other jobs and bring my young gun from scout a future star with me.

                          Here he is:
                          Conor Daniels (England)
                          5'5, 143 Left foot LW
                          67-71 overall, 87-93 potential

might try and get one more may bump out of him, as he turned 16 shortly after the first one.

Will keep posting, with more updates as necessary.

Update on Nottingham Forest, season 3

When last I left you, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to play a false nine formation or a more conventional 4-3-3. After several games outside career mode, I settled on two systems for Forest.

The first is a regular 4-3-3 with a single midfield pivot with H/M fullbacks, L/H centre-halves and defensive midfielder, one H/H and one M/M central midfielder, a M/L right winger, and a H/L left winger and striker. My defensive midfielder plays just behind the bottom of the centre circle, making him a CB/CDM hybrid of sorts.

The second is a more European system with three at the back, a midfield diamond, two wide men, and a target man; basically, a modified 3-4-3. The work rates are L/H for my centre-halves and defensive midfielder, H/H for one side midfielder, M/M for the other side midfielder and my CAM, M/L for my right winger, and H/L for my left winger and striker. My CDM plays even deeper in this formation, and my side midfielders are essentially high-stamina CMs capable of decent to good defensive work.

I only had two friendlies this time around: Napoli away and Granada at home. I won both matches 2-1; Oscar managed one in each playing on the left wing, so I don't see any reason why he can't continue there for the rest of the season. However, selling him on for a huge profit and strengthening the squad even further is not out of the question IF he doesn't get me at least 15 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

The first order of business was awarding raises and securing new deals. Mackay-Steven was offered double his current wages to go from Crucial 1st Team Player to Important 1st Team Player, which he accepted. Andrade, Byram, and Cresswell were rewarded for their great contributions last season; Andrade got his wages bumped up from £3,000 per week to £10,000 per week while remaining a Squad Rotation Player. That done, I decided to go about strengthening the team and made enquiries for Lacina Traore (Anzhi), Iñigo Martinez (Real Sociedad), and Jack Butland (Stoke, relegated).

I had my season opener against Manchester United to deal with first, though. I fielded a 4-3-3 with Gomis up top flanked by Oscar and Biabiany, but United managed two goals in the first 30 minutes thanks to poor defending from my part. I staged a late comeback with goals from Gomis and Mutch at 70' and 80' for a 2-2 draw. I don't like first league games to be draws, but it's better than a loss I reckon.

Anzhi replied first, saying they wanted around £24 million for Traore, which I thought was bogus, so I sent them an offer of £8 million plus Gomis. Sociedad, meanwhile, wanted £17 million for Iñigo; they got a bid from me for £11.5 million. Stoke valued Butland around the £4.3 million mark, so I replied with £3.75 million.

West Ham away was the next game, and I won it 3-2 but not without some nervy moments. I took an early lead through Lansbury before they equalised just before the break with a Jarvis diving header. I went 2-1 up with less than 30 minutes to go but conceded a silly equaliser when I just stopped short of collecting the ball with Forster, allowing Carroll to send in a low but blazing cross for Tomkins to smack into an empty net. But somehow, Lansbury managed to get a goal off a deflection with seconds to go, getting all three points for Forest that day.

Anzhi and Stoke both accepted my bids, and I sent my offers to the players: £60k per week and Crucial 1st Team Player for Traore, and £15k per week and Squad Rotation Player for Butland. I also got offers for Darlow and Wilson, from Leeds and Everton, respectively. I don't like selling players for just a few hundred thousand quid as a financially healthy club, so I countered to Leeds with a free transfer. Everton bid £1 million, though, which I accepted right away. When Sociedad replied, they told me they wanted £13 million and no less, so I stumped up the extra million and a half.

Up next was the Copa Europe game against PSG at a "neutral" venue, which was more or less decked in PSG banners and full of the French supporters. I managed a goalless first half, and was really proud of preventing the prime European champions from scoring. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be as a 33-year-old Ibra scored a slick volley to give PSG the lead shortly after the restart. At 70', I subbed Oscar off for Gomis and moved Andrade wide. Two minutes later, Biabiany went on a soaring run down the right flank and sent in an arcing cross that Gomis thundered in past Lloris with his head. We were all square at 90 minutes, but PSG managed two goals in extra time to win 3-1 and claim the trophy. What really has me worried, though, is that my captain and best defender, Dier, broke his ankle and is out for three months!

I had Queens Park Rangers away just two days later. Thankfully, most of my team had recovered enough fitness for me to simulate the game and come off with a 3-1 win thanks to Gomis and a Mutch brace.

                            Deadline Day, summer 2015

The first order of business was to confirm contracts with Traore and Butland, and to send Iñigo an offer worth £50k per week and a Crucial 1st Team Player role. Darlow and Wilson's sales went through, and Morecambe came in to take my young CDM Joe Hughes on a season-long loan. Iñigo got back to me quickly, and he was my third signing of the day.

I'd noticed over the past few months that Cattermole was not good enough, and that Lichaj was ALWAYS cribbing about wanting to play more. Since Byram was already a Squad Rotation Player, I decided both would be replaced. Sent QPR a bid of £7 million and Lichaj for Nathaniel Clyne after being told they wanted £13 million; he quickly agreed to a deal worth £35k per week and an Important 1st Team Player role.

While searching for a CDM, I came across Gary Medel. He was rated in the high 70s and was worth just £2.9 million, but so many key stats were in the high 80s and low 90s: stamina, stand tackle, marking, interceptions, the whole lot. I made an enquiry and was told to fork over £7 million, and I countered with £3.5 million and Cattermole. They asked me to up the bid to £3.7 million, which I did; ended up agreeing a deal worth £40k per week and a role as an Important 1st Team Player.

                              Thanks, i will try this.

using the default squad until I get a good scout and hopefully will start scouting and get players i can bring in off the bat.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Well, I'm on my third season with A.S Roma on Legendary (6 min match) and believe it or not, haven't lost a game yet!

I do give some random home draws vs crappy teams and whatnot but mostly I win due to one man alone.

In my first season I did only one buy and that was Luuk De Jong for 14 Millions. And my God, did I get this one right. He was my top scorer by far (and the Serie A top scorer as well).

I won Serie A and Italy Cup without any defeats, mostly because De Jong always pulled a goal out of literally nowhere.

                                My team was basically this:

                                De Sanctis

                                Maicon Benatia Leandro Castan Balzaretti

                                De Rossi

                                Ljalic Pjanic Strootman Florenzi

                                Totti (c)

                                - De Jong would come out and normally resolve it alone most games lol.

In second season I bought Ricardo Rodriguez (Left-Back) from Wolfsburg, Bendtner from Arsenal, Diego Perotti (Left Winger) from Sevilla for free, Federico Fazio (Center Back) also from Seville.

Until January I played like this:

                                De Sanctis

                                Maicon Benatia Fazio Rodriguez

                                De Rossi (c)

                                Ljalic Pjanic Strootman Perotti

                                Bendtner

                                - Obviously De Jong would play every game and save my *** as usual

On January, I decided to sell hard. Bendtner was failing me hard so I allowed Norwich to take him for 6 million, while Gervinho also joined Newcastle. Pjanic refused to sign a new contract since the first season and with only a few months left, it was the only way to get money from it so I let him go to Valencia for 10 million.

After this, I went for Immobile from Torino and Merkel from Udinese to fill in. Basically I filled Pjanic spot with Merkel (although Florenzi also often played there and so did Bradley) and Immobile took Bendtner spot and my God, he difference was huge. Immobile was amazing and he finished Serie A with 20 goals, while De Jong finished with 32! Pretty amazing.

I won Serie A, Italy Cup and Champions League but I have to admit, I was incredibly lucky in Champions. I passed Manchester City with a 1-1 draw out and then 1-1 home. In Extra time, managed to score a goal and went full defending mode. Then I got Barcelona, 1-1 home and in Camp Nou it went 2-2, passing with the away goal rule. Then Manchester United. I won at Old Trafford 1-2 but at home I lost 1-2 as well so we went extra time, which I wont in penalties 5-4 lool. The game doesn't consider this a defeat because I won in penalties but still, we can consider this a defeat and my only one so far.

Now I just started season 3 and I've been attacked by all sides to sell De Jong, Ljalic and Immobile. Obviously, won't let neither leave. Also, Perotti had a meh season, he finished well but most of the times he was always tired and didnt provided that extra something so FC Porto went with 10 millions and I decided to let him go. Also sold some young players who did very well in the second season but wont improve much more (Caprari ou D'Alessandro).

I decided to get Antoine Griezmann for Perotti's place, I got Parejo for extra quality on passing. The Goalkeeper Zieler from Hannover also joined my squad, since De Sanctis retired and I sold Curci to someone I don't recall.

Also got Di Siglio from AC Milan, considering Maicon is getting worse and close to retirement as well.

So far I've won Italy SuperCup 2-1 vs Juventus and won Europe SuperCup vs Marseille 1-1 and 4-3 in penalties.

Currently my team looks like this:

                                Zieler

                                Di Siglio Benatia Fazio Rodriguez

                                De Rossi (c)

                                Ljalic Parejo Strootman Griezmann

                                Immobile
