Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I am through 7 matches in my Monterrey CM and am loving it. I have 3 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. I am sitting 8th in the league with Club America on top. Seattle Sounders are in 3rd and LA Galaxy in 4th but no other MLS team is in the top 8.

I just passed the transfer deadline and decided to sell my 32 year old veteran striker, Humberto Suazo for $6.5 million to Villarreal CF. At this point I couldn't decide whether to go after a striker to take Suazo's spot alongside my young stud Locadia or sign Jonathan Dos Santos to a contract since Barcelona had previously accepted my offer for him but I couldn't afford to sign him. I have 3 other strikers but they are all pretty young.

Ultimately I went with signing Dos Santos for $3.5 million since my midfield didn't have any special players. And what's the use of having two young and upcoming strikers if you don't have anyone to pass it to them? I play in a 4-3-1-2 and decided to put Dos Santos in the CM role. I was going to put him as my CAM but my CAM is this nifty player named Cardoza with 4 star weak foot. I may move Dos Santos to LCM or RCM to see where he fits best.

In my first game with Dos Santos I won 4-2; I only played him a half since he was getting tired probably from international duty with Mexico prior. He did not record an assist or goal but did make the key pass to Opare my RB which allowed Opare to make an even better pass to Cardoza who scored the first goal. Speaking of Opare, he had 2 assists and has 4 on the season; his overall rating is up to a 71 and he has definitely been the MVP of my team. His pace is unbelievable and has the ability to cross the ball once he gets a step on the defender. Plus on defense he rarely gets beaten off the dribble.

In that particular game, I would have had a clean sheet if not for two bogus penalty calls which obviously led to 2 goals. I managed to score a penalty of my own with Locadia who has 4 goals on the year. The award for vulture of the season so far has been my back-up striker Petar Slišković the Croatian whom I signed for $1.5 million out of FSV Mainz 05. He has scored two goals on the season, both key goals and both came off a fortunate deflection off the keeper which enabled him to score relatively easily from close range. One of those came in this match where Locadia sent a header that bounced off the diving keeper right to Sliskovic's boot.

I really like my team; I am confident I made the right decision in signing Dos Santos because he has already made an impact as a playmaker in his short stay at Monterrey. The key to the season is turning those draws into wins; and Opare developing chemistry with Dos Santos and Locadia.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

In my Real Madrid CM though 13 matches, I have 8 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses. I am on a 3 game winning streak though. I just defeated Real Sociedad 3-0. In that match I felt in control the entire time. I think that I am getting much better now that I make smarter passes and try to build the play up instead of running full speed every time. We are 3rd in La Liga with Barcelona and Valencia 1 and 2 respectively. My squad is top notch; I wish I had played better earlier in the season because I am pretty much out of contention in the Champions League which is why in my last match against Arsenal I played my reserves like Bakkali who scored his debut goal by the way.

I think I have a good chance at winning La Liga having already defeated Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Also an update: I accepted the job to manage the French national team. I jumped at the chance to coach world class players like Nasri, Benzema and Ribery. Though, Benzema may still be butt hurt since I sold him to Manchester City in the summer; I used that money to buy Suarez who has been a stud. I look forward to guiding France to a world cup title; they are loaded with talent. It is amazing that in real life they barely qualified for the world cup. If I can't advance at least past the group stage I deserve to be fired.

        Team: Orlando City SC
        Rating 2.5 Stars
        League: Argentine Primera
Objectives: Owners want me to avoid a bottom finish. I want to win a trophy & qualify for Copa Latino Americana
Difficulty: 30 Min Games, Gonira's Sliders, Legendary, Full Manual, No simming games
        Record: 0-0-0

Ok, so I was getting bored in the MLS due to the lack of international club competitions, and things to qualify for. Then I started hearing about a South American cup in FIFA. Its features 16 teams, 4 from Brazil & Argentina, 3 from Columbia & Chile, 2 from Mexico. So I decided to replace the worst teams in those leagues with MLS Clubs. I wanted to do it in a way that made sense.
For instance, Mexico, is in my opinion the most balanced league in south America, Brazil may have tougher top teams, but top to bottom, Mexico is strong. So with only 2 slots for the Copa Latino Americana I decided to put the two teams who I thought might have the best teams to actually make the tournament, LA Galaxy & Seattle Sounders.

Argentina Primera: without weakening the league I added myself Orlando City, Sporting KC, Toronto FC

Brazil: Is a strong league so I wanted to add some MLS teams who I thought could compete in Brazil, hopefully anyways lol... NY Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, Montreal Impact, Portland.... Currently 15g in Portand, Montreal bottom two. RSL & NY bottom half. smh

Chile: this is the weakest league featured in the tournament so I wanted to put most of the MLS teams in this league to add more depth... 17g in New England sit 7th, with Vancouver, Dallas, DC United, Chivas all bottom half & Philadelphia dead last.

Columbia: has some solid teams but lacks depth so I added quite a few teams. San Jose, Colorado, Columbus, and Houston who all sit bottom table. Chicago currently is 8th.

Mexico: Looks like I was right, LA Galaxy & Seattle are doing better then most of the other teams in weaker leagues, only 4games in they sit 7th & 8th.

WOW The MLS SUCKS. Lmao Only what like 4 teams are doing ok? None would qualify if qualification ended today.

        Transfers
Only had 15million to build up a 1.5 star team.
        GK Placide 69 Ovr, 25 Haiti, 1.8M
        CAM Adryan 68 Ovr, 19 Brazil, 2M
        CB Okugo 67 Ovr, 22 USA, 1.1M
        CB Collin, 71 Ovr, 27 France, 1.2M
ST Zavaleta 60 Ovr, 21 United States, 900K
RB Yedlin 66 Ovr, 19 United States, 2M

Also signed Freddy Adu, CJ Sapong & Brad Evans on contract expiry. Will not have them for a whole season.

        Upcoming Matches
        at Independiente
        vs Arsenal
        at Belgrano
        vs Atletico Rafaela
        at Boca Juniors

My goal for the first 5 matches will be 8 points.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Forgot to mention that I also coach Portugal National Team. After many offers, I got the one I wanted .

So far been playing the Qualifying matches for Euro 2016 with a strong group consisting of England (current World Champions), Romenia, Norway, Poland, Sweden. I have only one draw at home with England 1-1 but the rest has been only wins, with Cristiano Ronaldo being my top scorer.

Considering I've already won everything with Roma, feels a bit weird to do it all again. I had a proposal by Chelsea that I turned down but perhaps I should have accepted. Still, leaving a builded up teams is always hard

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I decided to go ahead and start another CM by putting Rangers in League 2 (sorry to any York fans, they got the axe). I switched to the 4-1-2-1-2 and brought in Elber at CAM and Victor Andrade at ST. After a few games I wasn't feeling it though so I restarted, stuck with the 4-4-2, and brought in Gary Gardner and Andrade. However, since pace doesn't matter and I'm playing on Legendary any defender can catch him and his dribbling and ball control are nothing compared to Legendary Ultimate Tackling. Add to that he has no strength to speak of and he essentially becomes useless, so I'm restarting again.

My plan is to stick with the 4-4-2. Up front I know I'm definitely getting Anthony Martial come January. For my other ST I'd like someone with decent pace at least (like it matters) and 3* skills. Does anyone have any suggestions on players they've acquired that worked for them in a similar setup? I have 8 million to burn but I have to say I'm not used to having money in this game, lol.

Yeah, most defenders can catch my players rather easily in speed, even when they are clearly slowerd lol. It's really frustrating sometimes. The only guy that normally manages to overcome their opponents in my A.S Roma CM is Ljalic and his amazing dribble and ball control.

Playing against teams like Cagliari or Bologne makes me think that all of their players are Xavi's and Iniesta's and Ronaldo's LOL.

I'm a Corinthians fan , my career started in Corinthians too, now I'm in Bolton, got to Division 1. I will post my career later

AH! How ironic! I moved to Bolton (FL Championship) as well!

                  UPDATE

after leaving Corinthians for Bolton, I brought my English LW with me (Conor Daniels), and he now is starting on LW. While at Corinthians, I discovered a fantastic Brazilian CDM (also plays CM/CB!), I think his name is Thiago Negrao or something like that. At 6'0, 187. 4 star skills, 3 star week foot. came into my Corinthians senior team at 75 OVR! Potential for 90-94. think i found my first super star. I promoted him from the academy before he could get his second May 1st bump so I could sign him from whatever team I moved too. Unfortunately, Corinthians weren't selling him as he "just arrived". I took him on loan for the season (no future buy clause as they weren't sure they wanted to sell him, but I will gladly fork over whatever I have to get him on Bolton with me permanently).

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Has anyone used Neymar a lot in career mode? If you have, what formation and position did you find best for him?

A little context/update about my CM. It's been a while since I had a lot of time to play and share developments about my club.

I'm in my 6th season at Leyton Orient, and primed for my first ever league title at any level. I'm also in the CL for the first time after winning the Europa League in season 5.

I've been on fire in season 6, currently 9 points clear at the top of the table after 29 matches. The January transfer window just closed and I brought in my first legitimate superstars in Neymar and Paul Pogba. I used the transfer budget trick after season 5 to retain all my cash and didn't spend a dime during the first transfer window.

I had previously signed Junior Malanda on a contract expiry in season 5, but in January of season 6 Manchester City came knocking for him. I had no intention of selling him, but when they accepted my offer of $69.5M I felt that a more than fair deal was struck. I also finally had Juan Duma pried away from my club for a healthy $30M fee. I had a lot of pride in developing Duma. I bought him in my first season for $1M, and he had the most goals in the BPL when he was finally sold.

With the huge influx of cash from selling Malanda and Duma, plus my existing budget, I went searching for some superstar talent. In came Nemar for $67M from PSG, and Pogba for $50M from Juventus. So far my club hasn't missed a beat, and I think things will only be getting better. Yet, I'm still curious about how to get the most out of Neymar.

I run a 4-2-3-1 about 95% of the time, but its more of a 4-3-3 because I usually have wingers at the wide midfield positions. Neymar has been OK at the lone ST position, but not really "special" in any way so far. I'm wondering if I need to play him wide on left side or maybe at CAM instead of ST?

                    Thoughts and/or experiences are welcome.

That game against Juventus was crazy, I score the first with Balotelli, they equalised with Tévez and made the comeback with Jovetic. Second half and after much persistence I scored with Iago Aspas, Juventus was tough than I was expecting but I Balotelli gets the ball, runs besides the defense and score with the left foot , but the happiness was short-lived, they score a long shot close to the box with Pogba . I didn't get the win but was a funny game at least .

Neymar is wasted on the wings, too weak to play as a solo striker, and too involved in build-up play at CAM. Get yourself a two-striker formation, with a big target man partnering Neymar. The 4-1-2-1-2 works well: narrow if you like to play down the middle, wide if you prefer wingers. 4-4-2 and 4-2-2-2 are other viable options. You might also want to play him in a formation with a RF and LF flanking a ST, having him cut in from the left and turn finesse shots into goals. Pogba is great in the narrow 4-1-2-1-2; if you use him as the lone CDM in a wide 4-1-2-1-2, though, make sure you customise the position's work rates to Low/High or Medium/High.

Nice team but damn, why do you simulate so much? The fun part is playing .

Anyway, I normally try to buy players according to some sort of realism. For example, I wouldn't be getting someone like Suarez or Benzema or whatever to Roma because it simply doesn't fit.

                          Which Garcia is that btw?

I simulate too much because every match is more than 20 minutes, they are very lenghty .
From this team I just bought García, Papp, Barisha, Fagner and Alex Telles, neither of them looks unrealistic. The García it's the Borja García, I bought him from Real Madrid for 3,5m.

I play 15 minute halves but can't bring it to myself to sim a match outside of a friendly.

After losing my rag and destroying my controller in my villa career I decided to have a break from it and decided to start one with inter milan

Playing WC, 6 min halves and disabled first transfer window

Just got into mid November and currently sitting in 4th behind juventus, lazio and Roma. I'm pleased with how the squad links up and general feel of the team

                                Current squad in a 3-4-3
                                GK: Handancovic
                                CB: Campaignaro
                                CB: Rannocchia
                                CB: Juan Jesus
                                CDM: Canbiasso
                                CM: Kovacic
                                RM: johnathan
                                LM: Nagatomo
                                CAM: Gurian
                                CF: Alverez
                                ST: Palacio

With the ageing players I'm going to need to find some new blood to revamp the team back to domination ways of the late 2000's.

The team has some depth but I do need another CF so I've got my scout looking at Dybala from palmero. I'm also in need of a new striker as millito wants to leave and icandi is out for 3 months also looking into a backup RM as zanetti is too slow

                                Will update after transfer window
