    lol about Tom Cleverly.

I would suggest moving Draxler to CAM, Ronaldo to LM, and Rooney to ST. plays slightly better for everyone. Draxler being the only one to move to somewhere he doesn't necessarily play, but the other two are better suited to their respective positions.

In regards to your transfers, I can tell you that if it is as realistic as possible, and Bayern player will not join United. They just won the title today and I highly doubt they will leave for a team with no Euro League football. (Kroos will get his contract situation resolved imo). Just giving you my two cents anyway.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

      Liverpool FC Update!

Summer window has just ended. The only player I was able to bring in was Varane. I had to shell out 20 mil for him, but he is well worth it imo. I also attempted to sign Lamela in a straight swap with Sterling. Sterling wanted to leave the team (never did), so I figured I would attempt to get a good/better replacement. Spurs rejected every offer. Shortly before the window ended, Lloris asked to move away from Spurs. I submitted an offer of 3 mil (only worth 5, and in poor form). It was rejected as they declared he was "too valuable" to them.

I have a few players shortlisted. I am going to try and steal Oscar from Chelsea for free in January. I am also going to try to snag Pique for free from Barca as well. Both would improve my team dramatically.

I think the most difficult thing with this career mode so far has been lack of squad value. Although I have decent players, I have really only have a few people worth anything (Sturridge, Kroos, Suarez, Coutinho, and now Varane). But those are critical players. I can't sell any of them, and money is a bit slow. Hopefully I will get a better influx from Champions League. As long as I qualify for the knockout stages, I feel like I can at least make the finals as I will have a chance to improve in January.

Thats all for now! More later!

p.s. might be updating more often this week as I had surgery to repair a hernia... so I'm pretty much doing nothing all day except playing FIFA lol

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

so as much as I like my Liverpool CM, I just kinda realized how much I loved my Bayern one. I know I seem wishy washy on my careers, but I have to go back to Bayern. They are just too irresistible for me.

Starting one up, I noticed Lahm got a position change. He is now listed as a CDM... kinda strange, although he does play a lot of defensive midfield for them. He will still play RB for me.

My policy for this career mode will be like Bayern's actual transfer policy. I will only buy finished products. I will not buy potential stars. I will only buy established stars.

Btw guys, let's try to get a little more interaction with the posts! Someone mentioned it a few pages back IIRC. While I do enjoy reading a lot of your updates, I like seeing interaction with the updates. Providing feedback, giving suggestions, etc.

My personal goals are long-term and involved winning some big silverware (CL, Liga) after a few seasons and maybe bringing back some of their stars (Llorrente, Martinez) to help make this team a european powerhouse.

Looking at the squad it seemed very well balanced with some experience with players such as Aduriz and young players like muniain and ibai gomez giving me an opportunity to help them reach their potential. (youth development is something i really want to focus on)

          Changes:
The first major changes I made were moving muniain to a more central attacking role and promoting ibai gomez to the starting line-up covering the left wing.

Gurpegi, originally a starting centre-back was moved to the bench, allowing me to try out a defensive partnership between Mikel San Jose and young talent Laporte.

Iturraspe was also removed from the starting line-up in order to make room for Benat, a superior player who I thought would work well with Herrera in the midfield.

          Transfer activity:
Due to limited funds, and also being content with what I had to work with, I saw no need to go out and buy every good basque player out there.

The main focus for me was changing my GK, as Iraizoz (a great player) time as first-choice keeper had come to an end. Now of course, the transfer target being Ruffier from Saint-Ettiene who I was able to get in a player (Iraizoz) plus cash deal.

The next matter to deal with was bringing in a rotation player in the centre attacking mid position as most of the midfielders in my squad were more defensive minded. Zurutuza from Real Sociedad fit the criteria perfectly, managing to land a deal with him after some time negotiating with their board.

No sale of any big stars in the team, players leaving the club were either reserves or older players to shorten the squad and gain a small amount of additional funds to go into building my youth academy.

          IN:
          Ruffier
          Zurutuza

OUT: (players in italics still not sold/loaned)
          Iraizoz
          Herrerin
          Gurpegi
          Exteberria
          Albizua (loan)
          Unai Lopez (loan)
          Mario Barco (loan)
          Oscar Gil (loan
          Williams (loan)

          __________________________________________________ ______________________________________

After getting everything done early from day one, pre-season approaches and I will be playing all of these games to assess the team and make any small tweaks if necessary.

I will leave the final part of this post/update with the squad that I will be taking into this season, hopefully a positive one.

          Starting XI: 4-3-3
          GK: Ruffier
          RB: De Marcos
          RCB: Mikel San Jose (c)
          LCB: Laporte
          LB: Balenziaga
          RCM: Ander Herrera
          LCM: Benat
          CAM: Muniain
          RW: Susaeta
          ST: Aduriz
          LW: Ibai Gomez

          Subs:
          Arrizabalaga
          Ekiza
          Toquero
          Itturaspe
          Zurutuza
          Kike Sola
          Mikel Rico

No need to include reserves as they will only play a small part in the squad. My next update will focusing on my pre-season results and my first competitive game of the season. Enjoy! (sorry for the big post)

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I usually play a 4-2-3-1 wide in my current career. My CAM is usually the first to get tired, his substitute depends on the score line. If we're winning and but the opposing team is close to drawing, I put in a CM/CDM in his place and switch to a 4-1-4-1. If we're losing, I switch to a 4-3-3 attack. If the game is like whatever I'll just keep it at 4-2-3-1 wide. I'm using lowly Racing Santander, we just eliminated Bilbao in the quarter finals of the Spanish cup. I had won the first leg 1-0 Home so for the second leg I started with a 4-1-4-1 and possession play to try and secure the aggregate score in my favor. Bilbao really fought it out and in the second half the goals started coming in ending with a 2-2. next up I'm facing Barcelona in the semis. I kept the 4-2-3-1 wide for about 20 minutes until I noticed Barcelona was tearing us apart. At that point I switched to a 5-2-2-1 (no substitutions. My starting 11 fit any formation) and that really saved us from many goals. Because Barcelona's full backs tend to push up a lot, my wingers and striker many times outnumbered their defense 3 to 2. This is Barcelona so it was still difficult to take advantage of this. In the end we managed to score an away goal last minute to keep the game 1-1 and increase our extremely low chances of going on to the final. The second leg is coming up and I'm planning on starting with the 5-2-2-1 from the get go rather than risking it with my usual 4-2-3-1 wide. I know cup games are all about tactics and exposing the other team's weaknesses which is what this 5-2-2-1 does, however I can't help but feeling I'm almost cheating for some reason. What do you guys think?

just ramp up the difficulty then lol. If you get to a point where you are beating teams that you shouldn't necessarily beat all the time, then bump it up.

In my Bayern career, playing on world class. I should technically beat everyone in the world that I come up against. However, there are a few flukes now and then. I would expect to draw against BVB, Real Madrid, Barca, etc. Maybe lose an odd game here and there.

After reading this forum for a while now I decided to sign up. Hope I'll enjoy it here

Anyway, so I'm doing a career with Hertha BSC, my favourite Bundesliga team. I'm right at the end of the first season with only the cup final remaining against Bayern München. I was second in the league with a 2 point difference to third-placed Dortmund... Pretty good season.

My top goal scorer was who else than Adrian Ramos with 31 league goals. He also was the best goal scorer in the league!

As for transfers, I have went for mainly German talents... the only problem I have is that they arent groing much if at all. This is my team one game before finishing the first season:

                4-2-3-1
                Kraft (80)

                Jung (80) - Rüdiger (77) - Lustenberger (76) - van den Bergh (74)

                Niemeyer (72) - Skjelbred ( 76)

                Allagui (76) - Ronny (77) Ben-Hatira (78)

                Ádrian Ramos (80)

                Subs:

                Some Norwegian goalie (71)
                Pekarik (73)
                J. A. Brooks (76)
                Hosogai (76)
                M. Arnold (74. Hasnt grown by a single stat)
                Nico Shulz (73)
                Rodrigo (79) /Pierre-Michel Lasogga (78)

Niemeyer has been brilliant! But my wingers suck.

I have also a few non-growing players like Gnabry, Baumjohann and Langkamp...

I'm looking to buy a good winger in the summer... I'm thinking about Jese, Hajrovic and the Benfica duo Duricic and Markovic... any suggestions?

sorry we had to win the league in your stadium xD

                  but anyhow....

Try getting Moritz Leitner (BVB player on loan at Stuttgart). He starts around 77 i think. And he can be a pretty good centralized player. You could try to grab Sterling from Liverpool as well. Probably about right for the team. I imagine he could earn a starting role right away.

And welcome to the forum! Always good to see new people posting in this thread.

Leitner isn't really the type of player I'm looking for... the midfield is pretty good in my opinion as it is. But Sterling, that actually is a really good suggestion! I should take a look at him. But my first choices to have are Jese on the left and maybe Markovic on the right. Don't know yet.

Also, does anyone have any tips on young players with 80+ potential not growing?

After getting everything done early from day one, pre-season approaches and I will be playing all of these games to assess the team and make any small tweaks if necessary.

I will leave the final part of this post/update with the squad that I will be taking into this season, hopefully a positive one.

                      Starting XI: 4-3-3
                      GK: Ruffier
                      RB: De Marcos
                      RCB: Mikel San Jose (c)
                      LCB: Laporte
                      LB: Balenziaga
                      RCM: Ander Herrera
                      LCM: Benat
                      CAM: Muniain
                      RW: Susaeta
                      ST: Aduriz
                      LW: Ibai Gomez

                      Subs:
                      Arrizabalaga
                      Ekiza
                      Toquero
                      Itturaspe
                      Zurutuza
                      Kike Sola
                      Mikel Rico

No need to include reserves as they will only play a small part in the squad. My next update will focusing on my pre-season results and my first competitive game of the season. Enjoy! (sorry for the big post)
I'm doing a Bilbao CM as well on here:http://www.operationsports.com/forum...fifa-14-a.html. With that policy in place it makes things very interesting since there are a limited # of players you can go out and get. What I've done is invest heavily into the youth system. Also, Inaki WIlliams is pretty good for me. Big, good pace, strong, and has a powerful shot. Aduriz starts to decline because of age so I'm grooming Inaki to take his place.

EA seems to have put in some code that makes it more random about who grows and who doesn't. It is supposed to simulate that not all potential superstars work out. You can try to "reset" the not growing players by loaning them out. Sometimes when you loan out "an exciting player", he returns without that tag though. Otherwise you can sell them and buy them back, which is annoying.

I should take a look at him. But my first choices to have are Jese on the left and maybe Markovic on the right. Don't know yet.

A guy a really liked to play with on BVB when he was there was Perisic, he plays on LM (can play CAM/RM) now for Wolfsburg and would be someone you could be interested in. He's incredibly well rounded and is good at pretty much everything honestly.

Agree with ADHAMMER on this one. Up the difficulty if you feel like things are going too easily for you. Otherwise, it's definitely not cheating to use your formation and tactics to gain an advantage since that's what clubs do in real life! Using the 5 at the back against a team like Barcelona makes sense with how good attacking wise they are and could help you spring counter attacks. All about gaining that competitive advantage!

So yeah, what a great season! I finished second in the league with Hertha and I beat Bayern in the cup final on penalties! It was Kobiashvili's last match. What a way to end your career! With a double in front of the home fans! Anyway, the season ended and I got really mad when I saw my budget. It was only 12.5 million with 60k wages! I got more money for being second in the league. EA should make it like last year... anyway, I decided to buy Skjelbred permanently for 4mill. I also sold useless players like Sahar and a right back... I also managed to sell P.-M. Lasogga for 16 million to Stoke which was twice his value. I'm going to bring in Mlapa from Mönchengladbach to replace him as a target striker and now I'm trying to get a winger or two...

Another thing that annoys me is the transfer system. The AI wants almost every time over two times the value of a player and it's really hard to get them for a lot cheaper... but when you ask for the same kind of money they don't even counter offer. IMO it was much better in FIFA 13. Also I hate it when the Chief Executive comments say "The deal could happen" but when I offer the players value +750k the team wants much more money...

Yeah, he could be an alright player... but I'm looking now at Jese Rodriguez and the Bosnian guy from Galatasaray... forgot his name. I'm going to probably move to a new team after this season.

In my Bayern career, playing on world class. I should technically beat everyone in the world that I come up against. However, there are a few flukes now and then. I would expect to draw against BVB, Real Madrid, Barca, etc. Maybe lose an odd game here and there.

It's definitely not that. I play on world class and I'm sitting 6th in the league just BARELY staying in a promotion playoff spot. That Barcelona game I was dominated for 90 minutes. What I was wondering was if changing tactics for every match was seen as being a good coach/tactician or seen as a cheat. I don't know, I think it was just me feeling weird about always changing formations based on the game/next opponent.
