    Youth Academy

    • Kyle Shelvey / England / 16 years old / 69-85 POT
    • Mario Ruiz / Mexico / 15 years old / 73-93 POT

Some of these players are out of position (Jack Midson naturally a ST, Harry Pell naturally a CM) but I tried them out this way and I've had much better results even though their position isn't listed as a secondary.

I'm just curious what made you play Jack Midson who is a striker at DM? By the way I really enjoy reading all your updates. Keep up the good work.

Just stop playing, you'll never score a goal like that again, so what's the point even?

          Just had another annoying glitch.
There are 2 players in my youth academy that are 16 years old, and are 65 rated.
According to my player contracts their in the first team, but their not and every time I click onto the academy the game, and sometimes my console freezes.
I have a huge academy and lots of young stars I can't access.
          Any suggestions?

Best thing I could think of would be to try to load an auto save from before it glitched. I've heard of this happening before but I can't remember if anyone found a fix.

              Thanks for the suggestion.
I would do that, but the earliest autosave I could find was before the Champions League final and to be honest I don't want to go through that again as well as the World Cup.

                Match 21

                Sunderland 2-1 Liverpool
                Well that was a shock...

                FA Cup Match 1

                Portsmouth 0-2 Liverpool
Not so much of a shock this time.

League Cup Semi Final Leg 1

                Leicester 1-1 Liverpool
                Another shock...

                Match 22

                Southampton 3-3 Liverpool
I don't remember scorers but I do remember it being thrilling with De Sciglio being sent off and Southampton staging a comeback from 3-0 down to equalise in the last minute.

                Match 23

                Liverpool 4-0 Newcastle
                Balotelli 10
                Balotelli 31
                Balotelli 60 (pen)
                Balotelli 76

(I had the notes from now on.) Balotelli opened the scoring with a great goal from the edge of the box. He then made in 2 after shrugging off the defender, slotting it into the bottom corner. He completed his hat trick from the penalty spot after Bale was tripped. He then made it 4 with a header from a Ronaldo cross.

League Cup Semi Final Leg 2

                Liverpool 4-1 Leicester
                Ronaldo 16
                Ronaldo 24
                Bale 41
                King 60
                Verratti 79

Ronaldo opened the scoring, curling in from the edge of the box. He then made it 2, heading in Bale's cross. Bale got one of his own, smashing in from distance. King headed one back but Verratti sealed it with a hard and low strike from 12 yards.

                FA Cup Match 2

                Aston Villa 0-3 Liverpool
                Hummels 18
                Balotelli 31
                Ronaldo 71

Hummels headed in from a corner to make it 1-0 before Balo headed in one of his own. Ronaldo then went on a skilful run before smashing into the top corner.

                Match 24

                QPR 0-2 Liverpool
                Sterling 48
                Sterling 72

Both goals were almost identical. With the QPR left back no where to be seen, balls were played into the gap for Sterling to run onto. He then would run forward and hit it hard and low into the corner.

                Thoughts
I'm very happy with my signings. Coutinho is coming back and Lucas and Hazard are some of the best players in the world. Soumaoro is someone I have known to get to an extremely high rating. Bale and Lasogga are beasts, one known, one not.

                  BREAKING NEWS

Jamiec47 has taken the offer of Netherlands to become their next manager.

                  Press Conference

So, Jamie, do you mind me calling you that?
No not at all, carry on

OK, So first things first, why Netherlands?
"Netherlands are a club with a great history, reaching 3 World Cup Finals, but never winning. I want to help change that."

But wasn't that what you said about England?
Correct I did, and I deeply regret failing to fulfil my promise, but I felt it was time for a change. I enjoyed my time there and I am grateful to the players and staff for making my experience a pleasant one. I did fail to win the Euros but I got England further than they have ever been, falling on penalties.

Were there any other offers on the table?
Yes there were quite a few, some that I even considered.

May I ask who they were from?
                  Go ahead

                  Who were they from?

Come on surely you can tell us?
OK, OK. The Netherlands, England and a few others

Come on your just toying with me now. Who were the others?
All right. Germany, I rejected immediately. South Africa and Peru, I seriously considered, but I felt it would be, no offence meant, a step down. Italy and Portugal also came in, the Balotelli, De Sciglio and Verratti link almost persuaded me to Italy and the Ronaldo link to Portugal.

What are your ambitions with the Netherlands?
                  To do well, good night.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

They say that you discover a new gem every time you play a career mode. This time for me, it's Will Buckley. Rated 72 OVR with a potential of 77 at the age of 23 when I started at Brighton, he's grown to 78 OVR at the age of 24 (OCT 2014).

                    Acceleration: 90
                    Sprint speed: 88
                    Agility: 88
                    Dribbling: 79
                    Short Passing: 78
                    Crossing: 77
                    Finishing: 77
                    Ball Control: 75
                    Penalties: 75

Some of his key stats are ridiculous. Keep in mind that this kid is a winger who's nowhere near his peak, which I would estimate to be around 82-84.

His list value is £6.5 million, but I would estimate his market value to be between £8 and £10 million. Young, talented and English ‒ he's going to be the cornerstone of my Brighton team for years to come.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

So guys, here we go. Another Career Mode, hopefully it will be as well-received as the Cardiff CM was. I had a play around with a few other Career Mode's and this was by far the most enjoyable and fun to play with. The team is great to play with and I hope you enjoy reading about it as much as I enjoy playing with the team. I have decided to do this Career Mode in a different style to the last one. Wait and see what it is, and any feedback will be highly appreciated as always. Anyway without further ado, let's get on with the Career Mode.
                      Dundee United Career Mode

The Master's first meeting with the staff of Dundee United.

TheMaster - Morning lads, so before we begin I'd like to tell you all where I see this club going in 5 seasons. I believe with the right men behind the club, with the right signings made, with a good amount of money I think this club can lift the Champions League. Currently that may seem unbelievably far fetched. You might say, we aren't even the best team in Scotland yet, let alone the best team in Europe but I believe we can do this. However, in order for this goal to be achieved I need full backing from every single one of you. This project is going to be a long haul and if you don't believe in it you may as well leave now. I need you all to believe in me and the club. If you do we will be successful. I'm sure of that.

Simon Donnelly (Assistant Manager) - I'm not sure I can go through with this to be honest boss. I think you ambitions are too much for this club. I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave. I wish you well but there is no way I can go through with this. Sorry boss.

TheMaster - That's a shame. I wish you well. Thanks for your loyalty but you know my philosophy and I'm afraid you need to leave.

Darren Jackson (First Team Coach) - I'm in boss, I love this ambition. I hope we can take this club to the glory it deserves and let's hope this plan pays of in the end.

TM - Excellent, I want to keep you as First Team Coach but I would also like you to help me appoint a new Assistant Manager.

                      DJ - Of course boss.

TM - Right, let's start talking football, formation firstly. I'd like to play 4-2-3-1 with Rado (Radoslaw Cierzniak) in goal, Keith (Watson) and Robbo (Andrew Robertson) in the full back positions. In the two CB positions I'd like to play Gav (Gunning) and I'd actually really like to play Johnny (Souttar) to develop him. I reckon he has massive potential

DJ - Are you sure about Souttar boss? He's only 16 and is yet to show this massive potential you speak of.

TM - I'm sure. If it doesn't work, we take him out. Simple. Let's see how he does in pre-season. In midfield I'd like to sign a young boy to slot in alongside Stuart (Armstrong). For now we'll stick with John (Rankin). We have obviously some phenomenal attacking midfielders. I want Ryan (Gauld) in the centre and Gary (Mackay-Steven) and Ryan (Dow) on the right and left. Up front Nadir (Ciftci) will do brilliantly I hope.

DJ - I like this attacking formation. I think it will suprise many when we play this exciting brand of attacking football. Which players are you going to try and sign at DM.

TM - I actually am a huge fan of Jamie Ness. I think he is excellent and we would to well to bring him back to Scotland. He will cost a lot but I reckon he'll be worth it. Medhi Abeid also looks like a future star and could be a decent player to bring in, if not this year, then soon.

Thanks for reading, as I said feedback on the new style would be hugely appreciated. I hope you enjoyed and otherwise get ready for the next post.

Good question! I initially used a 4-1-4-1 when I first started this career, with the intention of having one of my two CMs to be offensive minded. Midson was my highest rated striker at the time, but as a striker he didn't match what I wanted since his jumping stat was too low (55). His secondary position is CAM so I tried him out at CM and he did a lot better than other players I had tried there and fit the role I was looking for. When I changed to my current 5-4-1, I wasn't sure if he would work out at DM since that's a greater difference from CAM, but he's still playing really well. In the game against Liverpool they really exposed that he is not a natural DM (He had a hard time with Sturridge) but then he pushed up later in the game and scored, which is exactly what I want from him at that position. He's getting older now and his stats are decreasing a bit, so I might have to replace him next season especially if we get into the championship.

Thanks for the feedback! Feel free to ask any other questions or comments.

Right? It was absolutely insane, when I scored it I jumped up in a mix of both shock and pure joy after hitting such a stunner.

Definitely some good potential on players at Dundee and a good write up. Any other reason why you chose a team in Scotland?

                            I want some help there.

I want a good slider to play. Everyone talks about the manual but I don't really like it, I miss every chance don't matter what player is shooting and all the players feels the same apart from physical and dribbling stats.

Update on my seasons. Now at the very beginning of my 3rd season at spurs. Finished off an *amazing* season last year, won both the premier league and the champions league! I also added the super cup as a bonus. Got knocked out of the FA Cup on a 90' goal in the semifinals, but that was the only negative. We sat around 3rd place for most of the year, until we got hot and went on an 11 game winning streak to move to the top of the table with 6 games left. Ahead by a point, we faced 2nd placed Man City in game 33. We won, and they went on to lose one of their next two while we kept winning. We didn't clinch until game 37, but it was an awesome season. El Shaarawy led the league in goals with 24, and Eriksen led the league in assists with 9. We also knocked out Barca in the champs league quarterfinals. We won the first leg 3-1 at home, and then survived in the second leg and won 3-2 on aggregate. From there, we faced Man City in the semis. After drawing 1-1 in the first leg, we shocked them in the second leg and won 5-0!!!!!! Unbelievable. In the finals, we faced Real Madrid, who we had beaten on penalty kicks in the Super Cup at the start of the year. Trying to deny them the chance to repeat, we held a 0-0 draw all the way until 120 minutes had passed. We won the shootout on a *ridiculous* save by Lloris. Great end to the season.
Unfortunately, Lloris handed in a transfer request over the summer. He was sold, and Thibault Cortouis was bought with the money. We also brought in Marquinhos and Memphis Depay (the hero of the Community Shield, which went to penalties and was won on his kick. He also scored our only goal as a substitute). Vidic was sold, as was Iago Falque and Gylfi Sigudrsson (both of whom also requested to be transferred earlier during the spring). With Vlad Chiriches out 3 months with an MCL injury, we are also trying to make a deadline day move for Kouyaté for some CB depth. Here is how the lineup currently shakes out:

                              4-3-3 False 9 Formation (Edited)

                              GK Cortouis 84
                              RWB Walker 80
                              CB Marquinhos 78
                              CB Vertonghen 82
                              LWB De Sciglio 84
                              CDM Sandro 83
                              RM Pogba 87
                              LM Paulinho 81
                              CAM Eriksen 86
                              RW Lamela 84
                              LW El Shaarawy 85

                              Subs

                              GK Butland 73
                              LB Shaw 76
                              CDM Capoue 79
                              CM Chadli 80
                              CAM Insigne 80
                              RW Bakkali 78
                              LW Depay 76

                              Key Reserves

                              LW Ceballos 74
                              CB Aké 69
                              CM Carrol 75
                              LB Naughton 76
                              GK Bonilla 70

El Shaarawy was UNBELIEVABLE in his first season. As I said, he scored a ton of goals and was almost always about 7.0 form. Lamela made huge strides after playing second fiddle to Soldado in season 1; he had 18 league goals. Eriksen was great, and moving him to the CAM role could change the course of a game. He kept the assists flowing with 9 in the league. Pogba was a great transfer despite the huge price; he played great defense at the RM spot as well as controlling possession and setting up teammates in the midfield. De Sciglio was awesome again and has now become my #1 defender. Insigne's role has really declined, going from regular starter in season 1 to seldom-used sub in season 2. He could be on the way out in or after season 3. Shaw was great in relief for Kyle Walker, who was sidelined for a full 5 months after breaking his tailbone early in the season. And Walker played well when he got healthy. Capoue didn't get as many looks at CDM as he did in the first season, but actually played CB a few times and did it really well. Vertonghen and Sandro were their usual rocks in the back. Lloris was great all season and led the league with 23 clean sheets - an EPL record. It was a shame to see him go. No growth at all so far from either Ake or Butland, which is really disappointing. Grated, I haven't gotten to play them much, but I can't put them out there at those overalls, can I? And for some reason no one will take them for a loan. Zakaria Bakkali was great in his first season last year, scoring 12 league goals and 18 total. He also grew from a 76 to a 79. Gotta hope he reaches the full 90 potential! Ceballos was a pleasant surprise, scoring 6 league goals in games when he had to play because of fatigue from the regulars. He even started a champions league game or two. Nacer Chadli has also carved out as a regular sub after barley being used at all in season 1. Since Sidgursson wasn't being used after he sent in the transfer request, Chadli got to play. He was actually better than Sidgursson was! So far, Cortouis, Marquinhos, and Depay have been great transfers. It's only been a few games, but all have played well. I wanted to get Verrati, but I ran out of funds with no one to sell. My scouts have been really frustrating. I sent them out to England, Spain, and Belgium (the latter country I manage) and they have been out for 7+ months, but have found no gems yet. They are all 5* judgment and 4* experience. Really weird! My goals this year are to win the league cup (the only thing I haven't won yet!) and qualify for the euro championship with Belgium. After winning the world cup in 2014 (!), we got off to a really slow start in Euro qualifying and fell into 5th place out of 6 in the group at one point. We have mounted a comeback, but with two games left, we are down 5 points to World Cup runner up Portugal. We have a goal differential advantage after bashing Finland in our last game, but we need two wins and need them to lose two or lose and draw for us to qualify. And we don't play them either of those two games. It's gonna be really tough.

                                AD Alcorcon '15-'16 Season

Los Alfareros are now 6 games away from what could be the end of the season ... if they're able to hang on to one of the top two spots in the standings of Liga Adelante and advance to Liga BBVA for the first time in club history. Here's what the Top 8 (the rest are out of contention) looks like at the moment (for reference, look back at my mid-season post in page 202)

                                P/W/D/L; GF/GA/GD/PTS

                                1. RCD Espanyol: 36/24/10/2; 72/23/+49/82
                                2. AD Alcorcon: 36/24/7/5; 56/25/+31/79
                                3. CA Osasuna: 36/24/4/8; 75/25/+50/76
                                4. Levante UD: 36/22/10/4; 70/31/+30/76
                                5. Granada CF: 36/20/8/8; 66/29/+37/68
                                6. UD Almeria: 36/19/9/8; 55/33/+22/66
                                7. RM Castilla: 36/18/11/7; 61/36/+25/65
                                8. Real Murcia CF: 36/18/9/9; 53/41/+12/63

There are a lot of recent developments to get into. We have just finished a grueling victory over Osasuna to take sole possession of 2nd place. Our star youngers, Miguel and Vidal, have returned from loan duty and should provide a spark for the team in what would a tough end.

More importantly, we recently passed May 1st on the calendar and have obtained updated reports from the youth squad. A recent signing from Japan, Zeshin Yamura, has the city of Alcorcon buzzing. The 16-year old was scouted for 1 month by team scouts before joining the youth squad, and he has recently been signed to the senior team and inserted into the RM slot. HE presents and intriguing combination of speed, awareness, control, dribbling and passing for a kid of his age, and he has also earned free kick duties for the club. Reports suggest the team may also sign 16-year old striker Manuel Adolfo to the squad, which makes sense considering the only true strikers on the team are the starters.

Over the next two weeks Alcorcon will face CD Mirandes (19th)at home, Real Murcia CF and Hercules CF (10th) on the road, then RC Recreativo (13th), CD Lugo (21st), and Deportivo Alaves (18th) at home.

My question for you: do you think I can avoid the playoffs and qualify directly to La Liga?
