Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

At level 21 you should have a financial takeover available. I haven't you used any of them but now that I think about it I should have used the scout future star when I was in League 2 might use it in March this season. I usually don't like using it since the nationality is random, and I like keeping my scouting more domestic to the league I'm playing in, with the exception of 1 or 2 players.

Make sure you get the "edit player" option!

Jonathan Dos Santos from Barcelona? There's also a young midfielder in RM Castilla but can't remember his name...

Thanks I think you may be talking about Jose Rodriguez. I've thought about both of those guys too, I'm only worried they may be too expensive since this will be the start of the 3rd season coming up and they should have grown. I'll have to check after this season to see what they are valued at.

Going from being on top at the mid-point season to missing out on the promotion the way I did took a lot out of me. It didn't help that my board won't even provide $500K in additional funds. It's clear to me now that if I'm gonna be successful here I have to build this team from the ground up. It's why I'm investing heavily on my youth squad. It is, 1) nearly the only way for me to acquire talent that I can afford and, 2) what will allow me to create profit by signing and developing players that I can later sell.

Looking at my roster now compared to at the beginning of last season, even though it's mostly compromised of guys who are under 20-years old the roster from top to bottom is better. I've been able to achieve this with no money. I am concerned that all of my experience is on the defensive side of the ball with no experience with the 5 guys up front. I'm lacking speed and goals might be hard to come by this season (GD was not my friend last season). I need to scout for defensive guys this season while maybe look to add some experience up front this winter if I don't have a good first half.

However, I will say that the lack of help from my board will at least allow me to be tempted if a really good job opens up. I don't know what it would take. I do like this challenge, I just wish I had some help from the board. I basically had to give up negotiating with Beleck because he was hardballing me and Navarro is asking for a raise and I can only do one or the other. Honestly, Navarro deserves the raise and him and Traore are my only speed weapons so I can't mess around with them.
That's some heavy stuff, man. I feel for you. Just in case you get an offer from Sociedad, I recommend that job.

Got an offer from Liverpool to manage.

I hate how by the time you receive any good offers you are too attached to your club to actually switch!

wait ... you actually receive offers from clubs without having to apply for them?

Haha yep, but rarely any good ones. You will generally get offers from clubs in the same league as you mainly (and usually at teams that are lower in the table than you are in that same leage...). Altogether it isn't extremely common to get clubs to approach you with an offer though. I think it becomes more common as you advance further and start to pile up the accolades in your career mode.

                    Making Them Dream
                    SEASON 4

                    World Cup Qualifiers

                    Netherlands 1-0 Portugal
                    Van Persie 37
After being on the ropes at the start, Van Persie thundered in from the edge of the box for the only goal of the game.

                    Netherlands 1-1 Poland
                    Sneijder 26
                    Klich 87

After relentless pressure, Sneijder headed in from a Strootman cross. Lewandowski smashed a sitter of the bar before Lens had a shot saved. Klich then skipped through the defence and scored a great goal before Sczeszny made an excellent save to deny De Jong.

                    Match 25

                    Liverpool 4-0 Derby
                    Schar 14
                    Bale 44
                    Bale 59
                    Balotelli 82

Schar headed in from a corner before Bale smashed in the second from close range. He then curled in a third before Balotelli's looping header found the back of the net.

                    FA Cup Last 16

                    Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal
                    Bale 14
                    Balotelli 32
                    Ozil 37
                    Balotelli 68

Bale smashed in the first before Balo headed in. Ozil then played a one two with Ramsey to knock in but Balo settled smashing into the roof of the net.

Champions League Last 16 Leg 1

                    Real Sociedad 2-4 Liverpool
                    Lallana 21
                    Canales 30
                    Ronaldo 45
                    Sterling 64
                    Lovren 90
                    Ros 90

Lallana volleyed in an absolute cracker to open the scoring but Canales headed an equaliser. We regained the lead when Ronaldo tackled the defender and converted, and Sterling smashed in to make it 3. It was wrapped up when Lovren headed in from a corner but Ros got a header of his own to reduce the deficit.

                    League Cup Final

                    Spurs 2-1 Liverpool
                    Sturridge 8
                    Livermore 10
                    Balotelli 21

Our first cup final defeat. Sturridge, playing against us for the first time since leaving headed in early on. A couple of minutes later, Livermore skipped through the defence and rolled the ball in. A sublime volley by Super Mario wasn't enough to equalise.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Wow, so I typed up an entire update for January plus a press conference with myself, Greer and Buckley last night at 2 am. For some reason, it either didn't get posted, or I was too sleepy and forgot to press post after previewing it. I'll re-do the press conference and post it later this weekend, but I don't feel like typing the results all over again, so here they are.

Ah, and signings... I gave Dunk a three-year extension worth 15K per week, got Jonathan from Inter on a pre-contract deal for 25K per week, sold Hoskins to Leeds for 375K, and had to watch helplessly as Kuszczak agreed his own pre-contract with Torino on the second day of the transfer window. Should have tied him down earlier!

                      Stoke 1-2 Brighton

Bendtner and Mutch score after we're 1-0 down at halftime to a Cameron Jerome volley.

                      Brighton 2-2 Man. United

Bendtner and Buckley grab goals for us, and Ashley Young scores and assists Chicharito for United. Excellent match.

                      Newcastle 2-0 Brighton (FA Cup)

More bad luck for us in the cup. Despite playing well, Ben Arfa manages to orchestrate and finish a vicious counter-attack. Sissoko seals it for them with an injury-time chip.

                      Spurs 1-1 Brighton

A good point at WHL, but could have been three. Buckley and Paulinho both net within 10 minutes of each other late in the second half.

                      Brighton 1-0 QPR

Another dull game against QPR, this time we at least get three points out of it as Bendtner scores a massive header late in the first half. He charges right through three QPR defenders, injuring one of them.

                      January 2015
Cup: Knocked out of the FA Cup
                      League: 8/12 points

This usually happens with me. I'm not even considering a move until I've won the Premier League with Brighton. After that, I'm open to moving to Chelsea, Dortmund or Milan. Naturally, I will be taking Buckley and Kongolo with me.

                          Press Conference

Q: This might of been your best month all season, and couldn't have come at a better time to get your form together. What do you contribute this success as of late to?

A: The team has come together nicely. The moves we made in the January window have really come to pay off with Depay providing a huge boost on the left side for us. Also, Dani Iglesias has been unbelievable. Moving Keirrison gave him the chance to step up and so far he has been lighting the league on fire.

Q: One month left to play in the season and you have moved up into 9th place. Where do you see yourself after these next 4 games?

A: I think we have proved we belong in the top half of the table with our performances as of late. Now we just want to see how high we can climb in the next 4 games. This has been one hell of a ride and I couldn't be prouder of this team.

Q: You are 7 points back from a Europa League spot. Do you consider that in the realm of possibility by the end of this month?

A: I wouldn't rule it out, but we aren't looking ahead to that. We are focusing 1 game at a time and we don't have an easy schedule this month by any means. Aside from us having to take 12 points this month, a lot of teams would have to drop points as well along the way. My focus is on Levante now.

This seems almost exactly like what I might go through at the end of my season. I'm also just in the top half, less than 10 points off a European spot but with some heavy hitters ahead of me that need to lose while I do nothing but win (don't see it happening). All I can say is long may our strikers keep firing, because no goals means no joy.

That said, how are your games all so high-scoring? I average around 2.4-2.6 goals per game, and this run of yours averages around 5.6! I guess your overall might be closer to 4.5, but that's still an insane goal tally! Are the CPU games in your save as high-scoring?

                                Lolohea 73

Tehau opened the scoring for the first goal under my management, floating the ball into the far corner. On the stroke of half time he ran through and his chip went just wide. His brother, a substitute came on and made it 2 on the rebound of a Chong Hue shot. Lolohea got one back after a defensive mistake.

                                Tahiti 2-0 Cambodia

                                A. Tehau 68

A great result but it really should have been more. L. Tehau, starting this match scored a hard and low strike. A. Tehau hit in with his right to make it 2 but Chong Hue had hit the post, Tehau had a shot brilliantly saved, and Chong Hue hit the bar.

                                Ashad 32

Maldives were a tough opponent but a terrific volley gave us the lead. Unfortunately Ashad's diving header squirmed under the keeper and then the match was bogged down in midfield.

                                Ludivion 51
They came close but a header from a corner ultimately won it.

                                Tahiti 0-0 Samoa
An extremely dull game bogged down in midfield.
