Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Hello again! It's good to be back. So yeah, if you remember I started a career with Hertha BSC two weeks ago before going abroad. Now I'm back home and here comes the first update. Hope you enjoy it!

    Becoming the Best

After Hertha BSC appointed Simeon Ganchev as their new manager the new owners have given him about 50 million euros to spend on transfers. Ganchev's object is to make the newly promoted side a feared force. The capital's team is meant to compete for the Champions League trophy in a few of years. But firstly, the team needs to be build and it needs to conquer the Bundesliga. The board has their full trust in Ganchev and he doesn't have pressure about winning straight away, according to the German sport magazine Kick.

    Transfers:

    In:

    Maximilian Meyer, €7m
    Matthias Ginter, €7,7m
    Sebastian Jung, €8,2m
    Fabian Schär, €6m
    Sebastian Rode, €4m
    Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, €2,5m

    Out:

    Tolga Cigerci, loan
    Marcel Ndjeng, €200,000
    Hany Mukhtar, €375,000
    Christoph Janker, €600,000

    First XI (4-2-3-1):

    Kraft
Jung - Ginter - Lustenberger - Van den Bergh
    Rode - Skjelbred
    Stocker - Ronny - Ben-Hatira
    Ramos

    August 2013 results
(I lost the notes for the first 3 games)

    Hertha BSC 1 - 0 Eintracht Frankfurt

A win is always a good start to the new season.

    Nuremberg 0 - 1 Hertha BSC

We continue our campaign with another 1-0 victory.

    Hertha BSC 3 - 0 HSV

    Hertha BSC 2 - 1 Stuttgart
    Stocker 45', Ramos 78' (pen)
    Abdellaoue 21'

The 4th win of the season put us in first place. We showed great playing ability and came back to win the game. Stuttgart started the scoring in the 21st minute, when Ibrahima Traore ran past my defender on the left flank. Then he swinged a cross in to the unmarked Mounir Abdellaoue who headed the ball easily in the net. About 20 minutes later our number 12 Ronny got the ball in their attacking third. He spotted the Swiss Valentine Stocker's run and played a great over the top through ball to our winger who slotted the ball with in the bottom right corner with his weaker foot. In the second half we kept on pressing and attacking. Ronny had a longshot from outside the box which hit their defender's arm and a penalty was called. Adrian Ramos slotted the ball to the top left corner right over the keeper, thuse getting us the three points.

    Wolfsburg 5 - 1 Hertha BSC
    Vieirinha 45', 50', 89', Olic 59', Dost 78'
    Lasogga 23' (pen)

Wow. Just... wow. We got an early lead and 20 minutes after our goal everything went to hell. To be honest, I'm thankful that they didn't score more goals because they had many more shots. Our defending was just... rubbish. They scored all their goals from crosses. Vieirinha's first goal was a first-time chip but the other were all headers. I'm really disappointed. Thankfully we are still in second place.

    Press Conference

Good evening, Mr Ganchev. Is it okay to ask you a couple of questions?

    Of course, go for it!

    Why did you choose Hertha?

I have always liked them as a club and when I got a call from the bosses I was really excited. The ambitions of the club are also really nice in my opinion. It is an honour to be in such a great club in an amazing country. I also think that Berlin will soon get the football team it deserves.

What do you think about Hertha's results in August?

They were great. The team has played well and we will challenge for the Champions League spots. I'm sure we can reach them.

    What happened against Wolfsburg?

A defensive meltdown. Fabian (Lustenberger) and Matthias (Ginter) need to get used to each other. The midfield didn't support the defence and our attack wasn't sharp. There will be changes in our lineup against Freiburg.

Why did you decide to bring in so many unproven younsters for a big amount of money?

Firstly, they aren't unproven. Everyone from Maximilian (Meyer) to Eric-Maxim (Choupo-Moting) has played a lot of games on a top level. And you don't win if you don't risk some. But we at Hertha Berlin are sure that the transfers will pay off.

Hope you enjoyed the first update! Please leave feedback, it will be appreciated!

        TAHITI: MINNOWS IN RIO?

        2012 JANUARY-JUNE

        Friendlies

        Tahiti 3-0 Sri Lanka
        J. Tehau 9
        A. Tehau 23
        Chong Hue 56

We absolutely dominated the Sri Lankan's, taking the lead on the rebound. A. Tehau then smashed in a stunner before Chong Hue finally got a goal, firing into the top corner.

        Macau 0-1 Tahiti
        L. Tehau 72
A relatively dull game but the deadlock was finally broken when Tehau smashed in hard and low.

        Tahiti 1-0 New Zealand
        A. Tehau 50
In our first chance to analyse our main rivals, we came out on top with Tehau capitalising on a defensive lapse, just after half time.

        World Cup Qualifiers (Finally)

        Samoa 0-1 Tahiti
        Hnanyne 73
We got a great win against Samoa in our first qualifier. The keeper made some great saves to deny Bourebare, Tehau and Chong Hue before substitute Hnanyne hit a half volley into the top corner.

        Tahiti 3-1 New Caledonia
        Wahnyamalla 26
        Hnanyne 41
        Araneda 61
        Hnanyne 75

New Caledonia took the lead through a counter attack leaving them 2 strikers on one keeper. Hnanyne, starting ahead of Tehau, hit in on the rebound. Araneda then tapped in a brilliant goal, and Hnanyne made it 3, rolling it under the keeper.

        Tahiti 2-0 Vanuatu
        A. Tehau 5
        Araneda 28

Tehau headed in early on before Araneda, starting after his impressive display, converted a beauty. It could have been more but the Vanuatu keeper played brilliantly.

        Final Group Table

        Tahiti 9
        New Caledonia 6
        Vanuatu 3
        Samoa 0

        Friendlies

        Tahiti 4-0 Tonga
        A. Tehau 32
        L. Tehau 40
        A. Tehau 63
        Hnanyne 90

In this friendly, Alvin Tehau scored a header before his brother, Lorenzo, smashed in from the edge of the box. Alvin then curled in with his left before Hnanyne hit in the rebound of a Caroine shot.

        Recap

So we made it through to the final qualifying round along with New Caledonia, New Zealand and Solomon Islands. Also we went on to win the OFC Nations Cup and qualify for the Confederations Cup. We were the first team other than Australia or New Zealand to win it. (IRL those 3 qualifiers were Round 2 of the OFC Nations Cup which Tahiti went on to win)

Actually yes, I do. But I didn't copy him with the transfers. Those guys are players who I wanted from the beginning. Mainly 'cause they're good, German and they have a good potential.

Welcome back! Did you recall Lasogga from loan? He was at Hamburg right?

FYI your press conference answers don't show. Looks like it's a problem with the bold and italicize codes, your placement is off my friend.

              TAHITI: MINNOWS IN RIO?

              2012 JULY-DECEMBER

              Friendlies

              Tahiti 4-1 American Samoa
I'll admit I simulated this match as I didn't feel the need to play one of the worst teams in the world.

              Malaysia 0-1 Tahiti
              L. Tehau 32
The only goal of the game was scored by Lorenzo when he smashed in on the rebound.

              World Cup Qualifiers

              Tahiti 0-0 New Zealand
Despite being against the favourites, we dominated, but the keeper made some great saves to keep us out.

              Solomon Islands 0-0 Tahiti
We just couldn't break this side down in a match filled with chances, most notably Lorenzo Tehau hitting the post of an open goal.

              Friendlies

              Austria 3-0 Tahiti
              Alaba 7
              Arnautovic 32
              Arnautovic 90

Alaba gave the favourites an early lead, rolling it in before Arnautovic smashed in. In stoppage time he headed in to make it 3.

              Tahiti 1-1 China
              Lin 17
              A. Tehau 36

We held our own against the Asian giants and despite going down to a Lin strike, Alvin Tehau headed in an we held on from then.

              World Cup Qualifiers

              Tahiti 0-0 New Caledonia
Another 0-0 draw, we just can't seem to score, but on the bright side we can't concede. I now need luck to go through. It's out of our hands.

              New Caledonia 1-1 Tahiti
              Wahnyamalla 10
              Chong Hue 76

New Caledonia took the lead but a Chong Hue effort kept our hopes alive.

              Recap
It's out of our hands. The current table is:
              New Zealand 7
              Solomon Islands 5
              Tahiti 4
              New Caledonia 3

No, I didn't recall him. I just transfered everyone who got transfered IRL to Hertha's roster in the main menu. And yes, Lasogga spent the last season at Hamburg.

Thanks for the note, the press conference should be good now. At least I think so, after removing the italicizes and fixing the placement.

                  Yep the answers show now!

Ah okay I see. He's a great player. (Don't know about real life but in game I think he's a good striker) I led a short career with Hamburg when I was still getting used to the new game and I really liked his characteristics. Unfortunately I couldn't make him work with Van der Vaart behind him and eventually I became bored with the career lol

                      Press Conference

Q: You've changed up your formation mid month. Could you talk a little about your new formation and the reason for the change?

A: We have decided to go with a 4-5-1 that plays very much like a 5-4-1 with Gary Medel playing very deep in the midfield. Almost like a third CB. We have Juan Dominguez and Enriquez playing in the center with Juan Dominguez playing more forward while we take advantage of the two way ability of Enriquez. The main reason we switched to this formation is to improve the defense by creating what is essentially a 5 man back line while we are on defense. I think this will help keep the opponents out of our box, while not changing up our method of attack too much.

Q: You hired two more youth scouts. This shows your commitment to expanding the amount of youth players going through the system. Explain the importance of having a larger Youth Academy?

A: The more scouts we have out looking in different countries, the higher the chance of finding quality players. It all comes down to three heads are better than one. I think that we will see some good youth players coming through our system very soon.

Q: Pelle has been playing very well so far. Are you happy with the return for the marquis signing of this past window?

A: I'm excited that Pelle has adapted so well to the new team and new country. He is a player of great quality throughout his entire career and and I knew he would be able to translate that here. I expected a transition period, but it seems that he has had no trouble with it.

Great choice with the formation! You have the players that can benefit from that formation, you favor a target man, and it'll really help you out defensively. I do something similar with my alternate formation. Usually I play a 5-4-1, but when I'm behind in cup matches I've switched to a 4-1-4-1 customized so that the CDM is completely behind the midfield circle and close to the two CBs, slipping in between them during our attacks to create a 3-4-3. Next season I'm planning on making that my main formation actually, since I'll be replacing Midson.

What were you using before the change?

Aston Villa Career Mode Update #1

                          Summer Transfer Window

A very boring transfer window, when I arrived at the club I discovered everything I needed was at my disposal. There's no particular week spot, Villa have brilliant depth and plenty of youth. My main objective was to keep Benteke and I did that by having a ridiculous $30 million buy out claus (using $ to make it more realistic). The only business I did was getting rid of Herd after he put in a transfer request, I did a straight swap with him for Gaztanga of Real Sociadad after failed negotiations with Chelsea for Ake.

                          August Results

                          Arsenal 3-1 Aston Villa

                          Chelsea 2-0 Aston Villa

                          Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool

I didn't do too bad considering I just moved up to Legendary and had a tough start. I got 7/9 points from the simulated pre season freindlies.

                          September Results

Aston Villa 2-0 Reading (Capital One Cup)

                          Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle

                          Leinster City 0-1 Aston Villa

Derby County 1-3 Aston Villa (Capital One Cup)

                          Aston Villa 1-1 Man City

Form started to pick up and we climbed out of the relegation zone into 14th place. Got to know the team a lot more and realize how important Benteke is. My youth academy got going after I spent 7 million on a 4* 4* scout. Brilliant result against Man City. If we keep it up we might even fulfil the boards expectation and qualify for the Europa League.

                          October Results

                          Hull City 1-1 Aston Villa

                          Aston Villa 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

                          Aston Villa 0-2 Everton

Shrewsbury 0-5 Aston Villa (Capital One Cup)

Not the best of months. We did well to draw against Tottenham and beat a very defencive Shrewsbury 5-0 with a team full of youngsters. We sit 13th in the table after a very difficult start. Expect results to pick up. Benteke is our top scorer with 5 goals so far. I have some expiring contracts to take care of soon.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post
                          As always, any feedback appreciated

I do something similar with my alternate formation. Usually I play a 5-4-1, but when I'm behind in cup matches I've switched to a 4-1-4-1 customized so that the CDM is completely behind the midfield circle and close to the two CBs, slipping in between them during our attacks to create a 3-4-3. Next season I'm planning on making that my main formation actually, since I'll be replacing Midson.

What were you using before the change?
Thanks I really like it so far. Just a rough game against Barcelona, but that is to be expected. But the rest has been pretty good so far.

Previously I was using a 4-2-3-1 with the two outside mids playing like wingers, but sitting just a little further back. It was a pretty attack oriented formation with a CAM playing behind the striker and then the two outside mids bombing forward on the outsides.

I think the new formation really fits with my players though, and I have liked how it plays so far through the first few games.

My formation looks like this now:

                            Giefer (79)
                            Mario Gaspar (76) - Pulido (74) - Bruno Martins Indi (75) - Carles Planas (76)
                            Gary Medel (78)
                            Suso (81) - Juan Dominguez (80) - Jorge Eriquez (78) - Memphis Depay (77)
                            Graziano Pelle (77)

                                Press Conference

I'll ask this again, Mr Ganchev. What do you think about the results in September and October?

The results against Hannover, Mönchengladbach and Bayern were disappointing for the whole team. We couldn't score enough and the midfield wasn't working. But then again, all of those teams are really good, but our players wanted to win. After those matches we faced Hannover in the cup and in that game we played really well.

Why did you decide to try out three different formations?

Because something didn't work. In the 4-2-3-1 the midfield was weak and Adrian (Ramos) got isolated. We were also poor defensively. Sebastian (Rode) isn't used to his role sitting right in front of the defence. In my five-at-the-back testing, the midfield of three wasn't effective and -once again- our strikes got isolated. After two games I tried out 4-3-3 and it worked immediately, as you saw against Hannover and Schalke.

The transfer window is getting closer. Who will you be looking to buy?

You're now fifth in the league. Did you expect such a good start to your campaign?

No, I didn't. I expected us to be in the top four, but there's still a lot of the season left. And we will make it there.

What happened against Mönchengladbach when you got sent off?

You can see clearly, how before the goal Nico (Schulz) got hit in the head. The foul wasn't given and Borussia's winger crossed the ball without any pressure on him. The referee should have sent Herrman off but he didn't and I got mad at him. But it's understandable for him not to call the foul since he's from München. They just can't take fair competition, just look how they rob every German team's best players.

                                Starting XI (4-3-3 Holding Custom)

                                Kraft
Jung - Ginter - Lustenberger - Van den Bergh
                                Rode
                                Ronny - Skjellbred
                                Stocker - Ramos - Ben-Hatira

                                Substitutes:

                                GK: Rune Jarstein
                                RB: Peter Pekarik
                                CB: Fabian Schär
                                CDM: Peter Nimeyer
                                CAM: Maximilian Meyer
                                LM: Choupo-Moting
                                ST: P-M Lasogga

Hope you enjoyed! I'm sorry for the lost reports. Please leave feedback!
