Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
AD Alcorcon - '16-'17 Season
ROSTER REVIEW
Starters
GK - Sebastian D'Angelo (78 OVR): 8/10. Clean sheets on half of his appearances is no small accomplishment, but he doesn't get a higher grade because he did benefit from a good back-four.
RB - Fernando Navarro (71 OVR): 7/10. Solid but not espectacular. I feel as if he had a better performance last season. I think he's close to his ceiling at this point.
CB - Serran (69 OVR): 8/10. Our captain. The one who plays above his rating. Even at 32 Y/O he still brings it day in and day out and is as consistent as you can get. Decent air threat (2 goals).
CB - Omar Gonzalez (76 OVR): 9/10. Everything that I hoped for when I brought him to the team. Excellent defender and a constant threat in set pieces.
LB - Adama Traore (72 OVR): 8/10. Can't recommend this guy enough. I found in the A-league through the GTN. Outstanding pace, above average defender. 3 goals and 4 assists in 41 games this season.
CDM - Michael Essien (70 OVR): 7/10. Better than I expected for the bargain deal I made for him. Doesn't have the stamina I look for in a CDM but he held up his end regardless. 3 goals and 3 assists in 39 games.
RM - Zeshin Yamura (73 OVR): 8/10. Missed half of the season due to injuries but showed all of his promise (has potential to be special) when he returned to the pitch. The 17 Y/O Japanese product from the academy had 6 goals and 2 assists in just 21 games and in Paredes' absence handled all set plays.
LM - Giorgio Barraco (71 OVR): 7/10. I hate to say this but I kept waiting for more from this 16 Y/O Italian promoted from the academy a year ago. I may need to reassess his position in our scheme. Only 1 goal and 1 assist in 37 games. Nevertheless he's someone "showing great potential."
CAM - Jose Miguel (67 OVR): 7/10. Was unable to find consistency in his game early on as Paredes doesn't always need to be subbed for. Once he was able to get on the pitch more often he did a lot better. He has potential to be special and is already 19 Y/O so I may need to loan him out to get him more consistent PT.
ST - Steve Leo Beleck (68 OVR): 8/10. Really good grade yet I felt he regressed from last season. Still relatively young at 24 Y/O. He was our leading scorer this season with 17 goals in all competitions (in 36 games).
ST(CF) - Alessandro Farago (70 OVR): 8/10:. If Barraco didn't meet expectations this other Italian from our academy exceeded them. 17 Y/O standing at 5'7", Farago had 11 goals and 7 assists in 37 games and was HUGE for us down the stretch. Has potential to be special.
Bench
Leandro Paredes (84 OVR): 9/10. 8 goals and 14 assists in 29 games before an MCL injury. He's still our season MVP. Looking forward to having him again next season.
CB - Rafael Soares Martins (69 OVR): 6/10. Serran's future replacement saw limited action in 17 games and is itching to be on the pitch more often. "Has potential to be special."
ST - Alex Rubio (68 OVR): N/A. Was out on loan for most of the season after he complained about not getting enough playing time with us. Had 2 goals in 4 appearances when he returned from loan.
LM - Lucas Aguirre (67 OVR): 8/10. Was a starter at LM while Yamura was injured (with Barraco at LM). The 17 Y/O Peruvian product from the academy had 4 goals and 4 assists in 38 games. He was one of main subs when not starting and I need to continue to find ways to play him regularly. He too has potential to be special.
CM - Franco Gomez (66 OVR): 7/10. Another Spanish product from our academy, this 17 Y/O is "showing great potential". Had 2 assists in 17 games this season include a couple of performances that stood out.
CAM - Martin Costa (65 OVR): 6/10. 18 Y/O Spaniard from our academy had 20 appearances as a sub with 2 assists. Nothing spectacular but no complaints either.
ST - Manuel Adolfo (65 OVR): 8/10. Yet another Spanish product from our academy. The 17 Y/O standing at just 5'5" has a knack for scoring and ended with 5 goals (and 1 assist) in just 17 games. He's also "showing great potential."
CM - Bruno Carmona (63 OVR): 6/10. 22 appearances with 1 goal. Didn't play enough to get a true sense for him. Former member of our academy is described as "an exciting prospect."
CM - Jose Romero (63 OVR): 6/10. This 19 Y/O Peruvian from our academy, in my opinion, asked to be signed too early and I had very little expectations for him. However he performed (and progressed) well so I'm somewhat curious about him.
CM - Dani Barrera (62 OVR): N/A. Another guy I have to find playing time for. 17 Y/O prospect from Argentina who "has potential to be special." I wasn't able to get him much playing time this season (5 games) but I really wanna develop him (5-star weak foot).
GK - Carlos Alberto (62 OVR): N/A. Was out on loan all season but this 18 Y/O Argentinian from our academy is a favorite of mine because: 1) he PROGRESSED while out on loan, and 2) has potential to be special. MUST go back out on loan.
LB - Euller (62 OVR): N/A. Purchased from depth in the most recent winter transfer window but only played in 5 games.
CF - Francisco Moya (61 OVR): N/A. This 18 Y/O Venezuelan from our academy spent most of the season out on loan. He did score once in 4 appearances for us.
CM - Jose Vidal (61 OVR): N/A. Used to be one our main subs but spend all of last season on loan and we hope to send him out again this season. 18 Y/O Argentinian from our academy is "an exciting prospect."
CM - Sergio Alvarez (60 OVR): N/A. Was out on loan for most of the season. 18 Y/O Argentinian from our academy.
CM - Fernando Alonso (59 OVR): N/A. Spent all season out on loan. I want to develop this 18 Y/O Colombia from our academy as he has 5-star skill moves.
CAM - Fabian Lopez (58 OVR): N/A. I have got to get this 18 Y/O Spaniard from our academy out on loan. 5-star week foot. Was only able to see action in 9 games.
CAM - Fabio Pauleta (58 OVR): N/A. This 18 Y/O Brazilian from our academy was on loan all season long and unlike Couto (they were brought up at the same time) he has been able to develop his game. Will be placed on loan again.
CDM - Martin Pardo (57 OVR): 6/10. The 17 Y/O Venezuelan made a mistake asking to be signed from the academy early on but was serviceable when called upon.
CDM - Jose Cruz (56 OVR): N/A. On loan all season but didn't develop much. This 17 Y/O from Argentina seems to have asked to be called up a tad too early.
CAM - Luciano Couto (53 OVR): N/A. Unlucky not be picked up for loan and just not good enough to play for us. This 18 Y/O Brazil product from our academy has been transfer listed.
GK - Raul Parrela (51 OVR): N/A. The other side of the coin. He was also out on loan all season but didn't progress at all. The 18 Y/O Brazil product from our academy won't be on our roster for much longer.
Recently promoted
GK - Alex Navas (64 OVR): Next man up at his position should D'Angelo be moved.
LB - Kevin Vrancic (55 OVR): Will be listed for loan.
GK - Simon Mustafi (55 OVR): Will be listed for loan.
CDM - Mathis Unnerstall (45 OVR): see above.
CDM - Marco Bungert (45 OVR): NEEDS to be loaned out by some team to salvage his career.vrabbit

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I just promoted a goalkeeper from my youth academy right. I went onto Edit Player as I always do after promoting youth, and he's the victim of this strange glitch where he's using the regular team uniform, not the goalie uniform. I was gonna hit Randomize so that he can go back to the regular goalkeeper uniform, but I decided to just leave him like that and see if he actually shows up in the match like that! I switched him to goalie pants and a long sleeve jersey so that he'll look different than regular players. Check it out!
What do you think? Should I leave him as is or switch him to regular GK uniform? I know some goalkeepers will use their team's away uniform jersey, but this is the home jersey so that's the only part I don't like. Also, do you think if I use him it'll cause more glitches in the game to come up and possibly ruining my career? Thanks in advance!Comment

ROAR GET YOUNGER, LOSE FAN FAVOURITES
Brisbane -- It is the end of an era as Brisbane Roar have sold several stars during the last two weeks. First, the Board sold unsettled left winger Thomas Broich to Grasshopper Zurich for a sum of $400,000 without consulting manager Willoughby. When asked for comment, Willoughby responded, "It's part of the business. I would've liked to have been consulted, because the sum agreed upon was much lower than the value we placed on Thomas, but I'm happy he's closer to home and grateful for all he's done for the club in his time here."
Another big transfer was that of star striker Besart Berisha. Earlier this year, Berisha rejected a contract extension, ultimately accepting a slightly larger contract weeks later. However, it has since come to light that prior to accepting the contract, Berisha's agent was gauging interest for the striker amongst other A-League teams. Manager Willoughby became privy to this information in November, which certainly facilitated Berisha's exit from the club. "I said it back when he declined the contract--we want players who want to be here. Do I think it was right to seek interest from other clubs while he is still under contract, and we're not in the transfer window? I absolutely do not. But he did his part for this club, and we're moving on with Jean Carlos." Berisha was sold to FC Lorient for a sum of $1,350,000.
Among other moves was the transfer of right winger Henrique in a cash and player package for Wanderers right winger Kwabena Appiah. "I am really impressed with Appiah. He has great pace, can play right or left wing, and has a good nose for creating opportunities," said Willoughby. Youngster left back Corey Brown was also moved in a similar way to Central Coast Mariners in a move for New Zealander Storm Roux. "We've been looking at moving Jack Hingert to left back permanently, which opened up a place behind Ivan Franjić there at RB. Roux fills that spot perfectly, and will see a lot of time on the pitch." The left back position is a bit crowded at the moment, with Shane Stefanutto, transitioning Jack Hingert and new acquisition Sam Gallaway, formerly of Newcastle United Jets FC. While Willoughby didn't say whether or not they'd move on from Stefanutto, 33, it's probably a safe bet that Roar want to get younger at the position.
Young striker Brandon Borrello and midfielder Ben Litfin were placed out on season loans to Shamrock Rovers and Al Raed FC, respectively.

Next Update: January 16-31, 2014!
EDIT: BTW, don't you hate it when the board decides to sell a player for much less than their value? Broich was in "Excellent" form and valued at $525,000 so I probably could've easily gotten $600k + for him, but instead I get a measly $400k for the guy.

How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Final April Update - Season 3
AFC Wimbledon 1 - 2 Middlesbrough
WIM: Hanson 4'
MID: Graham 51' 60'
Wimbledon went ahead very early in the match with a great goal from late bloomer James Hanson. The club played brilliant football with a new 4-4-2 formation but failed to finish. 2 mistakes in less than 10 minutes were enough for Middlesbrough to change the match. This loss allowed QPR to be just 2 points away from AFC Wimbledon's auto promotion spot.
Europa League:
AFC Wimbledon 1 - 1 Zenit
WIM: Baldwin 86'
ZEN: Soloviev 90'
A very tense match at Kingsmeadow where the scoreline wasn't opened until the final 4 minutes of the match. Jack Baldwin came into the match as a substitute to help Wimbledon secure the 0-0 draw, but actually ended up scoring himself! The fan's celebration only lasted a few minutes though, as the Russians were able to tie the game in stoppage time. Meanwhile in Spain, Tottenham defeated Bilbao 1-0.
Peterborough 1 - 3 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Hewitt 4' James 31' 53'
PET: Payne 69'
A very easy win against the worse team in the division. Chavez's alternative lineup were able to secure the 3 points and keep the club's promotion dreams alive.
AFC Wimbledon 0 - 1 Fulham
FUL: Ruiz 12'
A very painful loss for Wimbledon. Fulham were able to grab an early goal when a long ball was played to ex-Benfica striker Lima inside the box. Wimbledon's Pell was able to force him to the edge of the box, but allowed him just enough space for him to turn around and pass the ball to the middle of the box where Ruiz was rushing in scored leaving Worner standing still at the goal line. This loss dropped Wimbledon to 3rd place for the first time in months, while QPR took the auto promotion spot in 2nd.
Europa League:
Zenit 3 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Hird 6'
ZEN: Witsel 26' Hulk PEN 39' Shatov 86'
The European dream is over as Wimbledon have bowed out of their first ever European tournament. Chavez was forced to play an alternative lineup due to fatigue, and it proved costly. 28 year old Sam Hird scored his 2nd European goal very early in the match giving the Wimbledon fans the illusion that they would see a huge upset. Unfortunately for them, the Russians played hard in their home turf and were able to eliminate the English side. No boos or jeers were heard in the stadium, only applause for Wimbledon. The Zenit players shook hands with the Dons after the match as well, recognizing the underdogs for the great tournament they had.
Leeds United 1 - 3 AFC Wimbledon
WIM: Tafazolli 14' Gornell 51' Pell 90'
LEE: Morison 49'
Wimbledon needed a win and a QPR loss to the division's worst team Peterborough in order to get back to auto promotion. A draw would not suffice, as QPR have a better goal difference. The fans in the stadium were victims of mass mood swings as Tafazolli grabbed an early lead, but then Morison equalized meaning Wimbledon were out of definite promotion and would have to go through playoffs. Just 2 minute later, the club hero Terry Gornell appeared to give the club the lead again. Leeds were pushing to get a late goal but Wimbledon defender Harry Pell scored the 3rd in the final minutes to secure the win. Meanwhile at Peterborough, QPR only needed an easy victory or even a draw to secure their promotion to the BPL. In one of the biggest upsets of the year, Peterborough went ahead 1-0 in the first half and actually held them off achieving barely their 3rd win of the season!!
AFC Wimbledon have been promoted to the BPL for the first time since their founding in 2002!
FL Championship League Table (W/D/L)
1. Fulham - 106 points (32/10/4)
2. AFC Wimbledon - 91 points (27/10/9)
3. QPR - 89 points (25/14/7)
4. Wigan Athletic - 85 points (24/13/9)
5. Reading - 84 points (24/12/10)
6. Bolton - 80 points (21/17/8)
--------------------
22. Barnsley - 30 points (6/12/28)
23. Bristol City - 23 points (5/8/33)
24. Peterborough - 18 points (3/9/34)

Press Conference
Mr. Chavez over here! ChicoBass from HYFCMG. First of all congratulations on another successful season and the club's first ever promotion to the BPL! How do you feel?
"Just like the players and all of the fans: ecstatic! As soon as we took the lead at Leeds the second time I turned around and asked for an update on the Peterborough match. I couldn't believe what I was hearing when they told me. Hats off to Peterborough for shooting to end the season on a victory despite being relegated. Best of luck in League 1. Hopefully the people in charge over there can figure out how to run the club again and bring them back to the Champ. next season."
Tough loss at Zenit. Do you regret fielding an alternative squad?
"No. We needed to give the league priority because of how close it was getting at the top of the table. No regrets and no hard feelings towards the players that saw action that day. They did the best they could and we're very close to upsetting Zenit."
You only needed 1 more goal and you would have passed to the finals on away goals. Does it frustrate you that you had close to an hour to get it but the team failed to do so?
"Well that's easier said than done. Yes we only needed one more goal, but we're talking about one of Russia's best AT Russia. To be honest there were times I thought we could've actually gone on and won the tournament, but I'm still very satisfied with this team that were able to handle the pressure and make it this far. They say that nobody remembers the semifinals, but this is a team that I'm sure nobody could forget."
Could you give us a little peek on how you will prepare for the BPL?
"You know, right now we're actually not thinking about that. We're thinking about the upcoming FA Cup final against Tottenham."
Right, right. I apologize. How do you feel going into the club's and your own first ever FA Cup final?
A little nervous to be honest. This is Tottenham's 3rd cup final of this season alone so we know this will be a very difficult side to break. They lost the Capital One final to Chelsea, they have this final against us, and they also have the opportunity to win back-to-back Europa League titles this year as they face Zenit in the finals there. We're up against a tough side, but finally we have a couple weeks to rest and we're used to playing as the underdogs. It empowers us more than bring us down."
Very well Mr. Chavez. Thank you, and again congratulations.
Thanks for reading!Last edited by _ChicoBass; 07-31-2014, 01:10 AM.Comment

Okay, now we have a problem. I hit randomize but he's still wearing the regular Wimbledon uniform. This is not good.
EDIT: Okay this is weird. I chose edit player on my other goalkeepers Worner and Brown, and they show up with regular uniforms as well even though they've always worn the goalkeeper uniforms. Hopefully this is just the way they look on the edit player screen but in the actual matches they'll go back to the goalkeeper uniform. (fingers crossed!)Last edited by _ChicoBass; 07-31-2014, 01:19 AM.Comment

Q: What started out as a promising month had a rough ending to it. How do you feel about the results for this month?
A: It was a little disappointing to drop the last 2 matches in the way that we did as well as drawing the match before those. As you can see, we are only 3 points out of a promotion playoff spot and dropping those points could come back to haunt us. But overall I think that we are going to keep improving and the results will turn in our favor more often as we move forward in the season.
Q: We saw that you experimented with a new 5-3-2 formation against Chesterfield that resulted in a 0-0 draw. Is this a formation that you will go back to at times or was it a one time thing?
A: As you can see, with the 5 man back line the defense was stout, but as of right now our personnel isn't exactly what fits that formation the best as far as the attack goes. However, I do think that this will be a formation you will see us use multiple times throughout the season when we hope to take a point from tough matches on the road. But, as for now our main formation will remain the 4-1-4-1.
Q: You continue to advance in the J. Paint Trophy. While it is a competition that consists of only lower league teams, it still must be good motivation to be competing in another competition. Do you take these matches serious, or do you maintain your focus on league play?
A: Obviously league play is what is most important, but we still take pride in all cup performances, even if it is only lower league teams competing. I came to this club with the intention to win trophies and the players are aligned with that vision as well. Anything we compete in we want to win. If we continue to do well in this competition our eyes will definitely be on that trophy waiting at the end.
