Sampdoria name new manager

Following the surprise resignation of Siniša Mihajlovi

ć due to personal reasons, Sampdoria yesterday unveiled up-and-coming coach Indi Blue as the club's new manager. Mihajlović led Sampdoria a mid-table finish in Serie A last term, but the Serbian manager was forced to step down in the summer in order to deal with certain obligations away from football. It is thought that his replacement has been tasked with leading a Sampdoria team full of promising talent into the Europa League by way of a high finish on the league table. Success in Italy's national cup competition, the Coppa Italia, is reportedly of secondary importance.

"I'm very excited to be here at Sampdoria. The president has put his faith in me and given me this chance, and I hope I can repay that by helping to bring success to this club," Indi said at his inaugural press conference, adding that he's looking forward to settling in Genoa as quickly as possible. "It's a fantastic city with so much to see and do, though my Italian isn't very good at the moment. I've already been around town a few times, and I have to say that I'm extremely impressed by what I've seen so far. I think I've chosen a wonderful place."

Indi is best known for his stint as the chief scout of Brighton & Hove Albion, during which time he helped the club reach successive Sky Bet Championship playoffs. Widely acknowledged in footballing circles as the prime mover behind Brighton's relative success, he has been given his first top-flight job at a club that demands excellence from its players. "We've had some extremely good players at this club – Siniša Mihajlović, Gianluca Vialli, Simone Inzaghi, Roberto Mancini. The boys who play for us now have the capability to be just as good as the heroes of the past. What I expect from this current team is that they try to emulate the winning mentality exhibited by that title-winning side. If they do that, the rest of it will fall into place," Indi said, confirming that he will not be making major squad changes.

In order to achieve his goals, Indi has been given free reign in terms of who he sells and signs. He's believed to have roughly €9 million at his disposal, a healthy figure given the level of talent already present in the squad. Indi is said to be keen on retaining the club's developmental core while acquiring primarily Italian talent, a philosophy backed wholly by a board keen to see the team achieve success. Said to be Indi's primary transfer target this season is Luca Caldirola, the former Inter Milan defender who now plays for Werder Bremen in Germany. Kazenga LuaLua, with whom Indi worked at Brighton, is also on the shortlist. It is also believed that Iker Muniaín is Sampdoria's long-term target, though he is not likely to be affordable until the club become regular Champions League participants.

This paper has also received what it believes to be a list of key Sampdoria players with buyout clauses attached to their contracts. While we make no guarantee about the accuracy of this information, we have reason enough to believe in the legitimacy of the document.

Love the new team, was actually a big fan of Sampdoria a couple FIFA's ago when they still had Andrea Poli. He was a tank, and they have some fantastic kits as well. Great use of the buyout clauses, I like to mentally do the same thing as well for my better players. Can't wait to see how Pedro Obiang does for you, he's a player that I definitely have my eye on as well though I don't think I could meet your buy out clause

Also, Chico congrats on winning the league as that is a huge accomplishment to take a team all the way from the bottom and reach the peak of the BPL! Love seeing that you still have some of your guys from early days at the club like Gornell leading the way. One of the most dedicated careers that I have ever seen!

I don't think Simppu would do something like that. I like his Hertha career really much and I think he enjoys my MK Dons career a lot unlike the evil man known as Chico. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you're OK. Just my grandad on dads side has died, cancer got him. It was the saddest moment of my life so I can understand how you might feel right now.

No, don't be. I'm completely fine and it may sound like I'm a terrible person but I didn't cry at all. I didn't like him and I had seen him for two weeks per year since I was two. He was an evil man, giving everything he had to my uncle and saying a big 'f*ck you' to my mother and my aunt. Anyway, my condolences. When did that terrible happen? Oh, that's terrible. My grandad died in 2010, unfortunately on the 21st December. 4 days before Christmas. I cried a lot that day. He taught me how to ride a bike, took me on my first trip abroad to Malta and looked after me when I was little. A lot of memories.

Another top 5 clash today this time away to Portsmouth. Morias got us in front early when Finne put him in. His 9th goal in all competitions now. Couple more chances before half time but it stayed 1-0. Disaster struck as a shot deflected in off Doherty in the 90th minute to hand Portsmouth an undeserved draw. This draw secured our status as a League 1 club next season as we were promoted with 4 games to go. Whether it’ll be as champions we will have to see as Chesterfield (2nd) and Plymouth Argyle (3rd) are both 8 points behind. 6 points more will mean we are champions in my first season with the club.

Good few chances for us in first half, but we didn’t take them. 2 minutes into second half McClure intercepted a pass across the goal and finished it in off the post. Scowen cross found Bigirimana who headed into corner of net. Valencia dispossessed defender in box and coolly finished it into the net. Bigirimana picked up sprained ankle in the 82nd minute. Angol replaced him.

Dang. My condolences. I've lost both my grandpas, but I only met one of them. From my mom's side I never got to meet him since he died in an accident when my mom was still a baby. On my fathers side I think I did get to meet him, but I was too young to remember. Hope your family is okay simp.

I am so sorry to hear that. Yeah man it's tough I never knew my granddads, one past well before I was born. The other knew me but I was an infant when he passed. I was able to be with my both my grandmas for almost twenty years. I lost both of them in a two year span about ten years ago. I still miss them to this day because of their wisdom and inspiration. hang in there but it is tough.
