If you bring in Ings will you continue to run a 4-2-3-1 or will you play Bony and Ings together?
I'd play them both up as Ings I don't think will be as good up on his own. It'll be either 4-4-2 Diamond/Diamond Wide or maybe a 4-2-2-2 I'm not sure yet. Probably something with wide players to get Dyer, Montero and Routledge involved. I'm also looking into Gnarby or Campbell on loan to get some more depth in the wide areas. Let me know what you guys think!

              Exeter City F.C
              FIFA 15 – Season 1

              The Grecians

              February

              SkyBet League 2 Match:

              Exeter City 2 – Southend United 1

              EXE Woodman(PEN) (37’)
Scot Bennett finds himself way up field after a free-kick and is through on goal. Bennett flicks the ball to the right but is grounded by the rushing goalkeeper, Daniel Bentley, who gets a yellow card. Woodman takes the penalty and makes the goalkeeper go the wrong way by putting it into the top right-hand corner.

              SOU –Barnard (38’)
Southend kick off and Barry Corr holds up the ball before slotting the ball into Lee Barnard who smashes home past the keeper to make an unusually quick and easy goal.

Albian Ajeti is taken off the field in the forty-fifth minute with a knock. (Replaced for Jake Sinclair)

              EXE – Sinclair (68’)
Payne collects the ball on right and cuts in to have the space to pass to Sercombe on edge of penalty area. Sercombe then slots the ball into Sinclair who is facing away from goal. His first touch guides the ball through his own legs and he then turns and hits the ball through a defender’s legs and into bottom right corner. The goalkeeper just stood and watched as Sinclair gets his first for the club.

Our Best Performer: Jake Sinclair (When he made his debut, he was quite dangerous and hit the bar twice in the Luton Town game and he was always going to score sooner or later. The ex-Southampton playerreally played well and changed the course of the game when he came on at half-time for the injured Ajeti.)

              Dr Peter Riou (Senior Physiotherapist):
“Albian Ajeti has suffered a sprained knee and will be out for about 3 weeks.” (Will be replaced by Graham Cummins)

              SkyBet League 2 Match:

              Carlisle United 1 – Exeter City 1

              CAR – Elliott (PEN) (82’)
The ball is delivered into the box to Stephen Elliott, who is blocked by Scot Bennett and a tangle of legs makes them both go down. The referee decides that it’s a penalty but Bennett gets no card. Elliott steps up for the penalty and puts it down the middle as Pym goes left. Exeter City have looked a little average throughout the game...

              EXECummins (84’)
Exeter City wins a corner and Grimes takes it on the left. The ball drops straight to Cummins on the near post who nods the ball towards the goal. Mark Gillespie makes a great save but the rebound falls in front of Cummins again who just dives and heads the ball into the net.

Our Best Performer: Tim Payne (He did well when he was on the ball and managed to confuse the Carlisle defence a few times. I have to give some praise to Mark Gillespie on the opposite team who made fourteen saves!)

              SkyBet League 2 Match:

              Exeter City 1 – Portsmouth 1

              POR Connolly (12’)
This is a very important match for both sides to see if one of them can catch the other or if one can increase their lead over the others. Ryan Taylor goes on a mazey run and skips past Ribeiro on the left and Taylor lifts the ball over Jordan-Moore Taylor for Connolly to head home.

              EXE Jay (84’)
With Cummins out and Ajeti coming off in the seventy-second minute, Matthew Jay comes onto the field. Jake Sinclair receives an outstanding ball from Jamie Reid in his own half. Sinclair is one-on-one but Jay makes a blistering run to the back post where Sinclair picks him out so he can just slot the ball into the bottom corner for a late equaliser.

Our Best Performer: Jamie Reid (He was a best performer by far! Every time we went on the attack, Jamie Reid was involved. He also provided a great ball to Sinclair in the Matthew Jay goal! Also credit to Scot Bennett who made sure that Portsmouth only scored once.)

              SkyBet League 2 Match:

              Mansfield Town 1 - Exeter City 1

              MAN Rhead (69’)
Cummins gives away a free-kick on the semi-circle in the Mansfield half and it is delivered into the box where Matt Rhead chests the ball down to his feet and turns Pat Baldwin who came on in place of the tired Craig Woodman. Pym rushes out but Matt Rhead nudges the ball to the right and manages to kick the ball under the goalkeeper’s body and into the net. Exeter City have been terrible so far. They have only had two shots and only one has actually been on target.

              EXE –Sinclair (73’)
Aaron Dawson receives the ball on the right and then delivers a low ball into the box. The goalkeeper thinks it is going to Cummins at the back post but Jake Sinclair somehow manages to stick his leg out and get enough of a touch on it that it goes past the off balance goalkeeper and into the net. To be honest, Exeter City doesn’t really deserve it...

Our Best Performer: Christy Pym (The goal was disappointing from his point of view but apart from that, he was amazing. He made nine crucial saves throughout the match and he made sure that Mansfield only scored once.

              SkyBet League 2 Match:

              AFC Wimbledon 1 - Exeter City 4

              EXE Ajeti (7’)
After a run of bad starts for Exeter City, they finally look dangerous as soon as the match is underway. Ajeti threatened the penalty area continuously throughout the first seven minutes until he finally scores his first for the club after having an injury for the last couple of weeks. The ball is cleared by the AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper and Scot Bennett manages to win a header against Akinfenwa. The header falls to Jake Flannigan who takes it past a defender and puts the ball into the path of Albian Ajeti who runs into the box and smashes the ball into the bottom right of the goal and past the sprawling goalkeeper.

              EXE –Sinclair (19’)
Ajeti receives the ball from Jake Sinclair near the half-way line. Ajeti jogs forward to allow Sinclair to run into a gap in the Wimbledon defence. Ajeti slots it through the gap and all Sinclair has to do is hit the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net.

              WIM – Tubbs (55’)
Sammy Moore picks out a lovely pass over the Exeter City defence to Matt Tubbs who shows great control to just bring the ball down with his left foot and he just takes it past Pym and into the far corner.

              EXE Ajeti (56’)
Exeter start from the AFC goal and Sinclair runs at the defenders. He drifts to the right where he turns and crosses the ball onto the head of Ajeti who just nods home.

              EXE – Cummins (71’)
Grimes taunts Alan Bennett with a few step-overs and drops of the shoulder before flicking the ball past him and beating him for pace. He picks a pass out to Ajeti who takes a touch before passing through a defender’s legs to Graham Cummins who takes it first time. The ball stays low and goes into the bottom left corner. It was a really good finish as the ball was behind Cummins and it was also great play building up to it!

Our Best Performer: Albian Ajeti (He was amazing! Now that he has shook off his injury, I’m expecting him to do this regularly. He got two goals and two assists throughout the match!)

Exeter City’s Player of the Month:
              Jake Sinclair

Jake Sinclair has been a great addition to the team after losing Tom Nichols. Jake has got a few crucial goals and assists throughout the month and we would have been a lot worse without him.

              Press Conference:

Q: Last month, Portsmouth where eight points away from you in the table but now they are only four behind. Can you feel the continuing pressure being applied on you by Portsmouth?

A: I don’t really concern myself with those types of matters around this time of the season. So the short answer would be no. Obviously, when we come to the last couple of games or so I will be having a few glances at the table to see if we are where we should be at the end of the season.

Q: Rumour has it that Scot Bennett refused to renew his contract.

A: Scot (Bennett) has expressed some reluctance to signing his new contract but nothing is a hundred percent certain at the moment. All he needs is a little time to gather his thoughts and decide if he wants to stay or not but I reassure you that nothing will actually change for a while.

Q: In the three one-one draws you started poorly in each of the games. Why did that happen?

A: It’s always difficult to know why a team only performs in the later part of the game but I think it was because the new signings are still trying to fit in. It takes time for a new player to get comfortable in their team. But we also need to make sure we win games and if no one performs, then they’re not going to play and I think that made our new signings realise that they needed to step up and that’s what we shown in the Wimbledon game.

Q: Cummins is the league’s top goalscorer, Jake Sinclair is now starting to get into a scoring rhythm, Albian Ajeti gets his first goal after coming back from an injury and Matthew Jay has scored his second for the club. How do you feel about your current attackers?

A: I am very pleased as you can see! They’ve all been working hard but it’s also due to the material that they have been able to work with from the midfield.

              Career Record (W: D :L): 27-8-4

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

We're into February during my first season with Nantes, so there will be a massive October-January update sometime this week. I think fatigue has finally caught up with my players. Simple passes are going astray, my more agile midfielders feel like lead, everyone's first touch is heavier than a whale, and we're giving away around 18-20 shots per game when we normally concede fewer than 12. Thankfully, we have an international break coming up around 15 days from now, and not more than two of my players are likely to be called up. That good bit of rest should re-energise them for the final leg of the season, much like the Christmas break did.

What formations and tactics are you guys using in your careers? I'm running a 4-2-3-1 wide with slow build-up, minimal crossing but plenty of shooting opportunities, and a somewhat deep block with a good bit of width. I'd like to bring in some quicker defenders and play a higher line next season, perhaps with a 4-4-2 narrow diamond. However, if I can also find a bargain winger with as much pace and power as Serge Gakpe, there's no reason to change my shape. I guess what happens next season will be down to who's available in the summer.

One last thing. Does anyone feel like changing up tactics and/or formation after about 20-odd games makes a difference to gameplay? I sometimes feels like playing the same system for a long time lets the AI figure out how to play against you. Mixing up formations and tactics tends to give me a fresh start, especially when the CPU starts to have those games where they slide tackle a dozen times in the first few minutes.

Excellent finish to the season, though I was hoping for a win vs. Newcastle to give Chelsea that fighting chance of saving face. That's a nightmare of a season for us, but tremendous for you. Cresswell's goal vs. Everton was simply outstanding. The ball physics on the PS4/XB1 are sensational. I'm a huge fan of your style of play, Moose. You always seems to know exactly what to do with the ball in the final third, but you're also quite good at keeping pressing teams away from the ball in midfield.

I haven't run the 4-4-2 diamond on the PS4 yet, so I wanted to get your take on it. How do you have your formation set up in terms of player instructions? I suppose you've instructed your full backs to overlap at every opportunity, because I see them bombing on into the final third. Do you find yourself exposed on the counter, or do they get back to defend as well? I'm also curious as to what instructions you've given your strikers, and what work-rate combination you think is best. And lastly, is there any issue in playing without wingers? I generally enjoy cutting in with my wide men, but one obviously can't afford to do that with full backs in the 4-4-2 narrow diamond.

I've settled with a 4-1-3-2 at Guadalajara with the LM pushed forward and centered in a role similar to a LAM. I have my RS with the instruction to stay center and my LS with drift wide instruction. When all goes to plan, my LS will drift wide and pull his mark with him, allowing my LM/LAM to cut in and make a run down the middle to take a long shot. I agree with you on the formation changes but with me it's been less than 20 days. I am barely 6 months into this career and I've went through 3 formations: 4-4-2 Narrow, 4-4-1-1 Attack, and now the 4-1-3-2. The first two formations were working out great and then like you said I felt like teams knew how to counter me. So far the 4-1-3-2 has been working out great so I'm hoping they don't catch on to me soon!

In 14 I was all about slow build up, possession, but with a very attacking style of play always looking for the open space regardless of where the ball was. My plays usually started with a pass from my CDMs to my full backs. If there weren't any spaces then I returned the ball back to one of my CDMs and try the other flank. In this game I've struggled to keep possession. I still outshoot my opponent in most games, but I can't hold the ball as long as I used to do. I haven't messed with the actual tactics menu though, I haven't even looked at them yet actually, so I'm hoping that once I start a real career and adjust them I'll find my style again.

Hello again! Another month in the books, I figured I'd write here again.

First off, an article I read at the start of the month.

Sales of shirts with the name Cruzerr will surely be rocketing since his arrival at Morecambe. With a number of good performances recently Thomas Cruzerr must have made his name the first on the team sheet.

Morecambe's manager was quick to heap praise what has become a very good signing for the club "We'd been looking at Thomas for a while and I'm pleased we promoted him to the first team. His performances recently have been excellent and he's having a positive influence on those around him".

                      Golden words, right?

                      My shot that went wide.

Anyway, our first game this month was a Capital One Cup game against Colchester. I wanted to continue my strong form from last month, scoring plenty of goals and such. Did not happen.

I did not even get to touch the ball in the first half. Maybe only twice, and then I lost it. I got open in the box, took the shot, and completely missed the goal. Coach was furious, they were controlling the tempo, they had like 80% of the ball. Bentley subbed me off half-time, told me that I was completely shocking out there. It was a rough game.

Luckily, Sampson managed to score. Not the best shot; the keeper fumbled it and it bounced infront of him, easy tap-in. We were still undefeated, yet I felt defeated.

Collins giving us our first loss.

Second game we were up against Shrewsbury. My thought was that because we beat them earlier, we should have an easy match, right?

Wrong, they were on us the whole time. I couldn't get the ball. The only chance I got was rather good, yet I got tackled. The defender got a red card - makes sense, since I was 1-on-1 with the keeper. Drummond took the free-kick but missed it.

So, we were 11 v 10 against them, yet they were the ones still pressuring us. Bentley told us again to fall back, to keep the tie, even if we were one man up. They kept coming at us, I knew this sitting back thing wouldn't work. My shots were not going in, I hit the bar twice. Things were looking bad.

Then, right around the 80' minute mark, Collins gets open in the box and scores. We were down, I think the first time this season. That was literally the game. Our first defeat. I felt terrible, still do. Coming off a bad game and now losing, things did not start our way.

                      Standing strong!

I was really lacking confidence going against AFC Wimbledon. I lose my grip really quickly - a few bad games and my mind is in the gutter. However, this game was a bit different. The team played well after our bad performance last game, everybody was motivated to prove the coach and the fans that we still want to fight every match.

And things went even better, when I got open in the box, did a turn and slotted it in! I felt like - I AM BACK BABY! Wimbledon weren't really in it, they did not have any good chances, so my one goal was enough to give us the 1-0 victory.

                      Can't catch me, boys!

Next game - Plymouth Argyle. After our last game, everybody was in high spirits, so coming into this game was actually easier for us. In the game, the ball was moving nicely, we created plenty of chances, yet could not bag them away.

Then we got hit on a counter and they scored - everybody stood in awe, thinking what had just happened. Luckily, it was offside. Coach had yelled his lungs out before the ref told him to calm down, the flag is up.

My chance came again as I got open from a counter-attack. I left the defenders to eat my dust and I scored it! No more Penuzerr or anything! That was the only goal again and we took the game 1-0.

                      Redshaw winning us the game!

Now that we were back on track, we had another league game to play against Northampton, one of the weaker teams in the league. Yes, I did type that, even though if you saw the game, it was really difficult and close. They were mostly controlling the tempo, our chances came from set-pieces. We took control of the game really late.

I think it was the 92' minute, when I checked the clock. We were passing around their box. Drummond played a through ball to me as I got inside. I took a step to the left and passed it in the middle. Redshaw got on it and scored! That was my first assist this year!

Another 1-0 victory, forth one this month. If we could only score more, that would be nice.

The unlucky OG. The ball in the picture should be behind the keeper or in the net already.

Right, so things were getting more serious in the Capital One Cup. Our next opponent would be the toughest one yet - Burnley. Coach told us that we have the advantage - obviously not the home advantage. What he meant, was that we were the so-called "dark horses", the pressure was on them. After he said that, it was actually pretty fine to go on to the pitch and play.

We came out of the gates storming. My first shot clipped the crossbar and I really thought they struggled early. They did not expect us to come at them so early. At some point though, they started dominating. I couldn't get much of the ball during the second half, they had it and they were determined to win the game. Davies, our keeper, was keeping us in it.

Then they scored. It was the 89' minute. Ings got open in the box, tricked our keeper on a 1-on-1 and slotted it into the open net. It hit us hard. Yet, then we heard a whistle - OFFSIDE! We were in it, the game went to extra time!

Extra time was not easier. We were going to need luck to win the game. During the second period of extra time, I got past one of the defenders, yet I was still stuck with Trippier guarding me. I took a step left and passed it into the middle. One of the defenders somehow slipped on to the ball and it went in! An own-goal to give us the win!

I was really confused on how to feel. We just managed a win, a win we probably did not deserve, yet the team was happy that we were on to the next round. I guess that is something.

The lads being happy despite the loss. Should have shown you the coach instead.

Last game of the month was against York City. And I made a slight change before that game. One of the reporters said after the Burnley game that I am 5 times better than most of the other #9 in the league. So, I changed my number to #45. Math was not my best subject in school, yet I can manage these small calculations.

The game itself was actually a lot harder than our Burnley game. They were all over us. I think we had only 2 shots the whole game. We lost 2-0. The first goal came from a free-kick into the box and Jake Hyde managed to head it. Second one was after their massive passing in the box and Carson put it past our keeper.

We might have ended the month with a loss, yet we are pretty happy with the way we started the season. Especially me, with your boy having 7 goals in the league!

I hope you enjoyed the read, I'm going out with my ma--I mean I am going to my parents house, yeah, take care!

I've been switching formation quite a bit too. I'm back at 4-2-3-1 at the moment with instructions for one of my CDMs to stay back. I've used 4-4-2 narrow and wide diamonds but I try to have wide midfielders to get Dyer and Montero into the team. I used a variation of 4-4-3 as well. The wingers were tucked in slightly in behind the striker so they were listed as RF and LF.

If the posts are too long? Not at all! I for one really enjoy reading these updates. The way your career is going I'm starting to feel bad about giving you a goofy hairstyle. Looking forward to seeing how you're going to explain that lol I have an idea, but since it's your story I won't post it. Just message me if you would like to know what it is. My app just updated and I can access the messages from my phone now. I liked the way you explained the change to #45!

I think that after a tough month in front of goal Thomas will begin to focus a little more on the other areas of his game to find how he can help his team the most, leading to him getting 3 assists next month! By the way what formation is Bentley running? Does it ever change? And finally, how much different is player career on this year's game compared to 14? I'm not big on player careers, but on 14 I started one when I needed a small break from Wimbledon and it was a lot of fun just needed a few more details.

Oh come on, nothing is going my way in your career. Anyway, the update was very interesting and nice to read again. Keep it up!

My guess is that you will get an assist. Knowing my luck so far you will probably run to the corner flag and stand there for the whole game, though haha

I've used 4-4-2 narrow and wide diamonds but I try to have wide midfielders to get Dyer and Montero into the team. I used a variation of 4-4-3 as well. The wingers were tucked in slightly in behind the striker so they were listed as RF and LF.
When you have just one DM staying back, you feel like the two of them get pulled apart or caught with too much space between them? I did, so I made both stay back, but then I started getting loads of 1-0 and 0-0 games, so I freed one up again and scores came back to 2-1 and 3-0. I think I still prefer the 4-4-2 narrow diamond over everything else. I usually play a CAM as one of the CMs and a winger at CAM.

Oh, how horrible that nothing is going your way in someone else's career.

They aren't too long at all! I really enjoy them, they are something different to everyone's team careers.

A tough start in the first 2 games but you picked up in the next 3 with 2 goals and an assist! And then the unintentional assist for that OG lol. A hard way to end the month though with 2-0 loss.

Lets see, what'll I change? I'll go with some white ankle tape.

I predict that you'll get another assist.

It did feel like there was a lot of space alright.

I'll have a try with the narrow diamond and having a CAM as the CM and a winger at CAM. We'll see how it goes.
