First off, congratulations on the league! It looks like it came down to goal difference so extra satisfaction. Looks like Dybala was back to best this month thank god for that. That was a massive demolishing of Roma! It no doubt contributed to your goal difference. Very, very unlucky with the Europa. For you to lose on penalties must have been heart breaking to say the least. You did very well to get to the final however. But my god is that budget shocking. 4 mill after winning the league? Crazy.

Nice job with the signings! Firmino, Feghouli and Lacazette will all be massive boosts to your squad. You got Zouma for extremely cheap too! Chambers will be good depth and eventual starter possibly at CB. Sad to Kampl go and that van Dijk didn't work out but I guess that's football. Now the matches; A good way to start the season is to win silverware and you did that with the Community Shield and the Copa Europe! Good start to the league too apart from the surprise loss to Forest. Though you were playing reserves so it's understandable.

Thanks! Actually it did not come down to goal difference because I was in first at some point even though Juve had a better goal difference. Maybe it's like in Spain where the games between the two teams matter the most. Yeah, I thought the league title was out of reach when I checked my calendar and saw Roma but they were awful in that game. I completely agree with you about the budget, 4 million is terrible. On the other hand I had only two million left after signing the loanees permanently so maybe that had something to do with the budget. I will mainly try to get signings in swap deals or on loan in the summer. It's more challenging but it's also more rewarding, in my opinion.

By the way, I like your transfers with Swansea. The defence is looking good now and the attack is even sharper with Anderson.

Ah right I didn't know that happened if 2 teams were level on points, you learn something new every day. Maybe the signings of the loanees did affect the budget.

Thanks! We'll see how they all settle in and do during the season.

            FIFA 15 | PS3 | Season 3 | 2016-17

            The Swans

            July/August 2016

            Preseason

            July 26th
            Friendly
            Swansea 1-3 Nuremberg

            Donnelly 64'
            Sosa 27' Pfiucke 43' Della Rocca 67'

            Simmed

Mostly the C team played this preseason game and as you can see it didn't go well as they went down 3-1.

            July 29th
            Friendly
            Eibar 2-1 Swansea

            Angel 14' Errasti 53'
            Berahino 2'

            Simmed

The B team played this one and it also ended in a loss. It was good to see Berahino getting on the score sheet in his first game back.

            Aug 1st
            Friendly
            Swansea 3-1 Sevilla

            Ings 28' Redmond 51' Gomis 85'
            Diawara 77'

            Simmed

The first team played this last game and won it fairly comfortably. The only unfortunate thing was that Redmond pulled his groin and will miss a week of action while he recovers.

            Aug 7th
            FA Community Shield
            Swansea 2-1 Manchester City

            Bony 45' Pen
            Bony 49'
            Benzema 58'

            MotM: Wilfried Bony

We came out on top in the showdown for the first piece of silverware this year. City dominated the attempts on goal (16,7 to 4,2) but we made sure our 2 on target went into the net. Bony converted the first from the spot after Joe Hart gave away the penalty. He had a horrible touch off a back pass allowing Delph to come in and touch it under him before Delph was taken down. Hart only got a yellow when it clearly should have been a red card. This all happened on the stroke of halftime. Bony then doubled our lead with his second of the game 4 minutes into the second half. Centurion sent in a cross which was headed up into the air by Nastasic. Zabaleta took a bad touch when bringing it down and Ings was able to knock the ball away from him. Bony was alert and stuck the ball away on the turn. Benzema was the thorn in our side again however when he pulled one back for the Citizens. He played a one two with Silva inside the area dragging Reid out of position and giving him space to finish past a brilliant Scuffet who ended the game with 5 saves.

            Aug 13th
            Match 1
            Swansea 2-2 Chelsea

            Delph 27' (Ings)
            Costa 40'
            Bony 57' (Ings)
            Schürrle 81'

            MotM: Fabian Delph

We hosted Chelsea at home for our first game of the season and boosted by last seasons title win we wanted to have all 3 points at the end of the game. Delph opened our account after some early Chelsea pressure. He ran into the space behind Ivanovic and slotted home past Cech after being found by Ings. A sure foul by Luis on Centurion out by the sideline was not given and the ball rolled to Matic. He slid Costa in on goal and last season's Player of the Year made no mistake. Stambouli stopped a Chelsea counter attack and set off one of our own. Ings picked up another assist playing the ball into Bony who took it past and held off Ivanovic before curling the ball through his legs and past Petr Cech. Reid was caught out of position and Oscar was good enough to play in Schürrle to tie up the match 2-2 in the 81st minute. A hard fought point for both teams.

"We started off the game well keeping possession and dominating because of that. I felt though after halftime we let them have more of the ball and they started to create chances and with the players they have like Costa and Schürrle they were always going to score. A good point to start the season however."

            Aug 20th
            Match 2
            Aston Villa 3-3 Swansea

            Gardner 19'
            Gardner 25'
            Agbonlahor 40'
            Ings 45' (Delph)
            Bony 51' (Delph)
            Emnes 83' (Bony)

            MotM: Gary Gardner

A team that gave us trouble at the end of last season did again going 3-0 up inside 40 minutes. Sanchez chipped over for Gardner to run onto and finish near post. He doubled the lead when he arrived late into the box to put home a Joaozinho pull back. Agbonlahor completed the humiliation using his pace to get onto a through ball and finish past Scuffet. Ings restored some dignity on the stroke of halftime taking the ball in from Delph and using a burst of speed to get past Okore and pull one back. Bony got the second on 51' sprinting past Okore and curling around Velthuizen. Centurion hit the post 6 minutes later and in the 83rd minute Emnes got the equalizer. Taking one touch from a Bony pass before slamming it home.

"We were absolutely terrible in the first half, shocking. Villa ripped us apart and Gardner played a big part in that and was rightly named as Man of the Match. What should have been 3 points ended in 1 lucky point. While we did better in the second half we can't afford this performance to happen again if we want to retain our title."

            Aug 23rd
            Match 3
            Swansea 4-1 Southampton

            Berahino 3'
            Berahino 45' (Shelvey)
            Yoshida 66' OG
            Montero 71' (Berahino)
            Gonzalez 83'

            MotM: Saido Berahino

Bertrand and Zouma made their debuts tonight. I tried a custom 4-3-3 this match with 2 CDMs and a CAM. It seemed to have an instant success with Saido Berahino reacting quickest to tap in the rebound from a Dyer shot with a volley just 3 minutes in. The lead was doubled by the same man in the last minute of the half. Shelvey played it into him on the edge of the area and he jinked in and out before slotting past Fraser Forster. Southampton caused even more problems for themselves when Yoshida gave a back pass to Forster who completely missed it giving us a 3-0 lead. It was quickly 4-0 thanks to a Berahino and Montero combination. Berahino smartly took the ball into himself before playing into the gap behind him for Montero to slide home. Zouma initially won the ball off Gonzalez but it went straight back into his path inside the box giving him an easy goal.

"I think the new formation worked very well tonight. We seemed fluid and creative, something that we have lacked in the last couple of games. We also got our first 3 points of the season after 2 draws. I'm very happy about that. The only thing that ruined the match was conceding late and losing the clean sheet."

            Aug 26th
            Copa Europe Final
            Swansea 4-4 Chelsea

            Ivanovic 8' OG
            Bony 27' (Ings)
            Schürrle 45'
            Ings 48' (Bony)
            Bony 52' (Centurion)
            Agüero 69'
            Oscar 78'
            Agüero 89'

            MotM: Sergio Agüero

Ings chipped it over Aké allowing Delph to test Cech. Delph dived for the rebound and as Ivanovic went to try and block the shot it deflected in off him to give us an early lead. Bony then added a second on 27'. The ball was worked from a short Scuffet kick out up the field eventually getting to Ings who passed it on to Bony. He skipped past Ivanovic and sped towards goal before slotting it away across Petr Cech. Chelsea pulled one back on the stroke of halftime through the German Schürrle after he headed in a Matic corner. Stambouli dispossessed Ramires and set up a counter attack ending in Bony giving the ball to Ings and he took it around Luis before beating Cech for the third time. Another attack stemmed from Ivanovic passing carelessly to Stambouli in the middle of the park. He played Centurion in behind Luis down the right and he crossed into Bony's path where Kane stood no chance in beating him in the air. Agüero came off the bench to bag a second for Chelsea after he and Oscar combined to unlock our defense. Oscar then made it a nervous last 10 minutes for the Swansea fans and management team. A bad touch by Stambouli, as he cut out a through ball, fell to Agüero who tucked away the equalizer in the last minute tying the game up at 4-4. Extra time it was. A couple half chances for both sides including a good free kick from Ki that Cech turned around the post. But neither side could break through. The game would have to be decided on the lottery of penalties.

            Penalties
            Spoiler

"Of course I'm delighted we won in the end but we threw away a 3 goal lead meaning we had to go through extra time and penalties which could have easily ended with Chelsea holding the cup and not us. Some serious work needed on the training ground. Thank you."

            Aug 30th
            Capital One Cup Round 2
            Swansea 2-0 Nottingham Forest

            Graham 50' (Dyer)
            Mancienne 59'
            Loveridge 68'

            MotM: Joe Wilson

Youth products Declan Graham and Joe Wilson were given starts at CAM and in goal respectively. CF Tom McKenzie was also named on the bench. Graham passed it out to Dyer who sped off down the right wing. He cut back in and found Graham again on the edge of the box. Graham kept his cool and slid the ball into the net with his left foot from the edge of the area to score his first professional goal! Things got even harder for Forest when Michael Mancienne picked up a second yellow and went for an early shower. Loveridge after asking to play repaid me with a goal in the 68th minute. A Shelvey corner dropped inside the box and Loveridge controlled it then struck it on the volley into the net. McKenzie then came on to replace Graham.

"A very good win plus a clean sheet for the team and the lads that don't always get to play. I think that all 3 lads from the Academy did extremely well. Declan (Graham) got a goal on his competitive debut and Joe (Wilson) earned Man of the Match. Tom (McKenzie) also did well when he came on. James (Loveridge) asked to play and rewarded me with a goal. Now I'm hearing that a couple of teams are interested in taking him on loan for the season."

            Player of the Month

            Wilfried Bony

The Ivory Coast international hit 6 goals and notched up 2 assists this month getting some crucial goals at crucial times this month. Will he be able to replicate last seasons form? Only time will tell but he has started on the right track.

Yeah, I couldn't believe when they accepted that offer, especially with Vuckic being the definition of awful.

As for you, good job bringing in strong depth at the back on a limited budget. Also, congratulations on winning the Community Shield, but really unlucky to have Chelsea in the opening game.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Just realized I haven't posted a squad update in quite some time. I'll try to remember when I get home today to go through and get you guys the updates squad with all of their ratings.

Was thinking about formations which is what made me realize that. Sooooooo, time for some formation talk!

I changed my formation this season after running a 4-4-2 with 2 holding midfielders, 2 wide midfielders, and 2 strikers. I realized that I was having some trouble linking up from the midfield to the strikers since there was no CAM playing in that gap to direct the action. I switched to a 4-2-3-1, which was helped by the addition of Timo Werner. My starting XI looks like this now.

Werner and Çiftçi are a nightmare combination up front, and Werner can also slide over to either of the wings and Çiftçi can play well in the CAM role if I bring Rubio Rubin in. Michal Mak also can play on either wing, or in the CAM or striker role as well. This formation works so well since I have a so many versatile players.

Which formations do you guys prefer to use for your squads, and how do you like to use your main players? I feel like we haven't had a big discussion on this in a while and everyone has either started new careers, or made a lot of changes in theirs so I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone is running right now.

Figured I'd add my team to the discussion:

With my main team I've been using a 4-4-2 Holding since last season and the beginning of this season.

                  Ratings:

                  Simone Scuffet 76 Ovr

                  Nathaniel Clyne 77 Ovr
                  Winston Reid 75 Ovr
                  Jordi Amat 76 Ovr
                  Bernat 75 Ovr

                  Adrian Centurion 76 Ovr
                  Benjamin Stambouli 78 Ovr
                  Fabian Delph 75 Ovr
                  Nathan Redmond 75 Ovr

                  Danny Ings 72 Ovr
                  Wilfried Bony 84 Ovr

Only real thing I have set is for Stambouli to stay back on attack and for Redmond to cut in. With Ings and Bony up front I can either cross it in for Bony to attack or go in behind and use Ings' pace. Delph links the midfield and attack up really well. His energy is amazing. Clyne also overlaps quite a bit so he adds more width along with Centurion. Stambouli attacks a bit too but is good at cutting out attacks and winning the ball back.

My B team uses a different formation. The 4-3-3 but with 2 CDMs and a CAM.

                  Ratings:

                  Gylfi Sigurdsson 78 Ovr

                  Nathan Dyer 74 Ovr
                  Saido Berahino 70 Ovr
                  Felipe Anderson 76 Ovr

Here Ki is instructed to stay back on attack. As Shelvey is naturally a CAM he gets forward with Sigurdsson, who acts as the link. Anderson and Dyer cut in and get crosses into the box. Mostly cut in or use low crossing as Berahino isn't the greatest in the air. Montero can alternate with Dyer/Anderson if need be.

I'll post a full squad with Overalls and Ages either tonight or tomorrow.

How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

                    October 2015 - Season 2
                    FIFA 15 (PS4)

                    Europa League - Group Stage
                    1899 Hoffenheim 2 - 1 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
                    OSA: Onwu 3'
                    HOF: Szalia 12' Modeste 88'
Osasuna had gotten off to a wonderful start as Manuel Onwu netted a cross from Ramirez with a header to get his fourth Europa League goal. Hoffenheim fired back nine minutes later though as Szalia received the ball just outside the box with his back towards goal, but he was able to make a 180 degree turn and shoot first-time past all the defenders in the box, past Rodriguez, and into the net. Chavez told his players to push forward for another goal, but the B-Team looked out of ideas and couldn't find any space anymore. The Germans dominated possession and also outshot the Basques but it wasn't until the 88th minute that they were finally able to get a ball past Rodriguez as Modeste headed the ball in from a corner. Osasuna played terribly tonight, with the midfield producing very little and if it weren't for the early goal we would be talking about how bad Onwu has been as well. Jose Antonio Rodriguez was given the MOTM award as he did everything in his power to keep his team alive with 10 saves. Napoli defeated Aberdeen in their respective match, making it all equal on the group table. All teams have 3 points with a zero goal difference.

                    INJURY NEWS
Javi Flaño (68 OVR - RB) was able to finish the match against Hoffenheim but will be out for the next 3 weeks with a Hyper Extended Knee.

                    UD Levante 3 - 4 CA Osasuna
                    OSA: Guillermo 9' 82' Ferreiro 12' 34'
                    LEV: Diop 37' Wanderson 76' Roger 80'
What. A. Match. Truly surprising actually given the fact that Levante are currently trying to fight their way out of the relegation zone, but that same willingness to get out of the relegation zone was what gave us an exciting match to watch. Osasuna established their superiority early on with an outside foot shot by Guillermo that curved into the net, and then an inside foot shot by David Ferreiro three minutes later as he was one on one with the goalkeeper.

This kind of goal is becoming a trademark for Ferreiro who knows how to use his speed to get in behind his marker and through on goal. Ferreiro would score once again in the 34th minute, this time by cutting in from the right and powering the ball past the keeper. Levante was finally able to react just three minutes later with Diop scoring off a rebound, but with the 3-1 lead Osasuna were still comfortably ahead. Osasuna threatened to extend their lead but with the scoreline to their advantage they also showed off some brilliant football to control the midfield. Things would get shaken up in the 76th minute as Wanderson scored Levante's second goal by following up with a rebound AGAIN, and four minutes after that Roger would equalize the match by scoring from a corner - unbelievable! Levante had come back from a 3-0 margin and now it was three all. Chavez was furious on the sideline and shouted to go all-out-attack, to which Guillermo responded to right away by receiving a through pass from Torres that left him one on one with the goalkeeper. It looked like Levante's goalkeeper would beat Guillermo to the ball, but he made a mistake that caused his team the game. Had he dove towards the ball, he could've easily picked it up. However he hesitated, whether from self-doubt or fear of clashing with the sprinting Guillermo, and he began to back pedal towards his own net! Guillermo did not forgive this mistake, and in one touch powered the ball into the bottom corner of the goalkeeper's near post. You could hear the impact his foot made with the ball all the way to our box, and the goalkeeper wasn't able to react in time to block it. Osasuna now had to transition from all out attack to parking the bus, and were able to hold Levante until the end of the match.

                    CA Osasuna 1 - 1 Real Valladolid
                    VAD: Ramos 33'
                    OSA: Guillermo 90'
Yet another incredible match that had the Osasuna fans pulling out their hair in the final minutes, this time against their increasingly bitter rivals Real Valladolid. The match initiated as we expected it to, with both teams looking for the goal since the starting whistle with Osasuna having the upper hand in midfield. Osasuna were the most dangerous in attack producing chances in greater quality and quantity than Valladolid's, but Valladolid actually managed to score first despite Osasuna's superiority on the field. Omar Ramos took a shot from outside Osasuna's box that quite frankly had nothing behind it and Riesgo looked very comfortable as he got in position to catch the ball. The unexpected happened though, and the shot deflected off of Albentosa's shoulder, changing it's course and going inside the net! There was nothing Riesgo could do once the ball made contact with Albentosa as he was already in the middle of a comfortable dive. Chavez shouted at his men to push forward refusing to be bested by his rival, but for one reason or the other they simply couldn't get the ball into the net. The more time that passed the more desperate they became. So desperate, that Chavez told the centre back Miguel Flaño to push forward and play as a striker alongside Guillermo, turning the 4-3-3 into some sort of 3-3-4 in the final minutes. The drastic decision paid off though, forcing Valladolid's centre backs to split up in order to man mark instead of double teaming the lone striker Guillermo. With Guillermo only having to worry about one marker, Roberto Torres sent a lobbed through pass his way in the final play of the match allowing Guillermo to lose his marker in the race for the ball, get into the box, and power the ball past the goalkeeper to equalize the match!

The players refused to stand down since a loss to Valladolid would have been deemed unacceptable by Chavez, and managed to steal a point from their rivals.

                    Europa League - Group Stage
                    CA Osasuna (B-Team) 0 - 1 Aberdeen
                    ABE: Pawlett 38'
Two defeats in a row for Los Rojillos in the Europa league, but in all truthfulness the B Team did not deserve to lose tonight. In the 38th minute Aberdeen jumped on a huge defensive error from Osasuna, as Pawlett dribbled calmly down the left side of the box. His marker stopped following him, and nobody else came up to mark him, allowing him to simply jog his way inside and power a short distance shot past Rodriguez. Rodriguez was furious and so was Chavez who was shouting from the sidelines in disbelief. Osasuna pushed forward the rest of the match as Aberdeen focused on holding their lead, and while Osasuna made it past the defense on several occasions Aberdeen's goalkeeper Brown was refusing to let the lead slip. Brown was given the MOTM award with 8 saves. The Osasuna players showed heart and truly left everything on the field, but the player that stood out was Manuel Onwu. While Onwu is the Red's top goal scorer in the Europa, he's been in terrible form since the league match against Real Sociedad. Chavez seemingly lost his patience with him tonight, taking him out of the match and replacing him with Kenan Kodro, a natural LM.

                    Real Madrid 1 - 1 CA Osasuna
                    OSA: Guillermo 36'
                    REA: Ronaldo 76'
An absolutely fantastic match at the Bernabeu with Osasuna surprising Los Galacticos. Guillermo continued his newfound scoring form by making the best out of an early cross from Camarasa in the 36th minute. The cross was sent into space and Guillermo did a great job getting in behind his marker, and then heading the ball past Pacheco to put Osasuna in the lead. Osasuna had surprisingly been controlling the match up until this point, but the goal seemed to have awoke Los Merengues and they finally started to fight back. Los Castellanos were showing just how dangerous they are and really made life miserable for Osasuna in midfield as they pushed for an equalizer. Madrid were most close to score early in the second half through a corner, which has been Osasuna's weakness this season. The ball bounced around the box before making it's way to Gareth Bale, who powered his shot towards goal and past Riesgo, but the first post man Sisi was there to save the day!

Much like in the match against Atletico Madrid, Sisi was able to stop the ball from going in at the goal line. Even though Madrid were attacking with much more danger now they simply could not break through Osasuna's defense, with the wings being shut down by Sisi and Ivan. Ronaldo and Bale swapped wings quite frequently, but regardless of which side they were on they just could not get past the fullbacks. Ronaldo is a player that can adapt though, and in the 76th minute he cut in before reaching the left back Sisi's area, dribbled towards the center backs and somehow managed to get an amazing long shot past them. The shot was of course very well placed and Riesgo never had a chance of reaching it. After the equalizing goal Chavez subbed in Federico Palacios, an extra striker at RW, and chose to take some risks by pushing forward for the win. Palacios made the best of his chance and really gave Marcelo a tough time on the wing. Osasuna had the game winner in their hands in the 90th minute as Luque was given a through ball by Torres that left him unmarked inside the box, but the Spaniard's shot went over the bar! We couldn't believe the chance that had just been missed, but it is in close reflection to Luque's form this season. Even with the draw Chavez didn't look too upset, and he shouldn't be. His team went toe to toe with the league leaders and have a point to show for it. Real Madrid's goalkeeper Pacheco was given the MOTM award with 11 saves.

                    CA Osasuna 2 - 2 Valencia CF
                    VAL: Alcacer 13' Feghouli 78'
                    OSA: Torres 62' Guillermo 69'
Osasuna came in very confident after a competitive match against Real Madrid, but Paco Alcacer quickly reminded them that Valencia are one of Spain's top teams by netting an early goal. The rest of the match would be very balanced especially in midfield, but Smitty's men were a lot more dangerous on the ball. Valencia's goalkeeper Alves was said to be in bad form recently by the match commentators, but he certainly didn't show it as he became Valencia's best man on the field when Osasuna picked up their attack in the second half. It wasn't until the 62nd minute that he let a ball get past him. Guillermo came down to midfield to receive the ball, turned towards goal and then sent a through ball to Roberto Torres who was sprinting down the left wing. Torres was able to dribble past his marker, cut in, and shoot past Alves to equalize the match. Osasuna would strike again seven minutes later, this time with a brilliant counter attack by Guillermo. Valencia had a goal kick which Alves sent as far as he could. Raul Albentosa won the aerial challenge and headed it to Guillermo, who dribbled the ball past his marker using a flawless step over with a change of direction that actually caused the defender to crash into his own teammate, preventing both he and his teammate from chasing Guillermo. Guillermo kept dribbling towards the left side of the box as another defender came out to mark him, but Guillermo used a fake shot and cut to his right to get rid of him. Nothing but the goalkeeper in between him and the goal. He took one touch too many and it looked like Alves would get to the ball first, but Guillermo managed to beat him to it and took his shot!

The atmosphere was electric as Osasuna had came from behind and flipped the scoreline, but the celebrations would only last nine minutes as Valencia was able to equalize through a rebound. Chavez shook his head and it looked like he was ready to blow up. Osasuna tried to go for the lead again but the match ended at 2-2. A draw with the taste of defeat for Osasuna.

CA Osasuna Player of The Month

                    ST - Guillermo (74 OVR 22yrs) (+2)
Osasuna's star striker Guillermo had a rough start this season, causing many to wonder if the 22 year old was ready to compete in La Liga. After all, Bilbao let him go because he wasn't up to their standards for first team football and that was only one season ago. It seems the pressure helped him find his way back to the net, and this month he truly kicked off on the scoring sheet already becoming one of the league's top goal scorers. He scored one goal in the first month of the season, only two goals in one match in the second month, and now in the third month he rose up and scored five goals! We said it last month, if Guillermo is back to his scoring ways watch out for Osasuna, and the Basques have now climbed up to seventh place - only three points shy of a European spot! Watch out for Osasuna indeed.

                    October Headline

                    B-Team Plagued By Bad Form
When the B-Team defeated Napoli in Osasuna's Europa League debut, many people thought this squad was going places. Three games later, their cup progress is very much in doubt. There haven't been any changes to the lineup, it's still the same players, but the players in the attacking third have fallen into a terrible form that has Chavez looking at his bench and scratching his head. It all seems to have started since the league defeat against Real Sociedad, but some players have been struggling since the beginning of the season. Starting with Julian Luque. His loan spell last season won the fans over for him and many demanded he be signed permanently. The Spanish midfielder also caught Chavez's eye and he was offered a permanent contract as soon as the season ended, however he has been very unproductive this season struggling with both the B team and when he comes on for the first team. Next on the list is Jose David Ramirez, the Mexican winger that was tearing up defenses in Liga Adelante. It is not that he can't dribble past the defenders in the top flight, it's that he doesn't even try anymore. The winger has been lacking confidence this season and hasn't been as dangerous. With the first team, anytime you saw him getting ready to come in as a sub you knew there was going to be an unlimited supply of crosses to the box, but as he is not taking on defenders anymore he's not crossing the ball much either. In the final two games of this month Chavez no longer included him on the first team's bench. Lastly we have the B-Team's goal scorer Manuel Onwu. He started off the season on fire, but getting a shot on target is to much to ask for now. Chavez stood by him until the match against Aberdeen where he finally subbed him off. Chavez has two anxious players on the bench just waiting for an opportunity to play with the B Team as starters - the loanee Federico Palacios and the homegrown player Kenan Kodro. Palacios is only 5'7" but has the pace to sprint past defenders. Kodro is naturally a left midfielder, but he is rather slow for the wing and stands at 6'3" which gives him a huge advantage in the air. With the Europa League in doubt, we can expect changes to be made in the lineup soon.

                    Conclusion
Yep, the B Team is struggling. I'm thinking about dropping the 4-1-3-2 formation and going for something different. In the match against Aberdeen I switched to a customized 4-3-3 (1 CAM 2 CDMs) and it worked amazing with Jose Garcia owning the midfield. I've also thought about trying out the 4-4-2 Holding inspired by Indi since I haven't tried it in this game yet. Another formation I have in mind is a custom 4-4-1-1 Attack (2 CDMs) so that I can use Jose Garcia at CF. I might try the 4-3-3 first though and see if Luque and Ramirez can pick up their form being in a more attacking role.

Other than that I think I pretty much covered everything, that I can remember at least. I hope you enjoyed the update and,
                    Thanks for Reading!

Your first team formation is almost identical to my last formation, but you have a much better midfield personnel to pull it off. Delph is the difference maker I think. I lacked a player like him and had to change it up in order to get more of a midfield presence felt in the attack and build up.

The 4-3-3 you run with your B team is my favorite type of 4-3-3. That's what I used to run with Exeter when I had James Wilson up front. Extremely effective in the attack. I tried to experiment with it at the start of my St. Pauli career, but I couldn't get my defense sorted when I used it. Once again, due to lack of personnel.

                          Tactical Discussion

Since not everyone can see my videos, plus I love the tactical talk, I decided to basically include almost my full roster here. I don't actually use a B-team, but I've created a B-team to show my second team players and also one of my secondary lineup set ups.

                          First Choice XI

Delph and Noble offer the stability in midfield, while I have Cresswell and the Ox set to bomb forward and assist in the attack.

                          Reserve XI

A similar set up to my first lineup, with Kouyate as the ball winner and Rabiot starting the attacks. Morrison has tons of potential, and Wickham and Sakho offer a similar pairing to Carroll and Valencia in terms of player styles.

                          Other Notable Squad Members

                          Kevin Nolan, CAM, 72
                          Carlton Cole, ST, 70
Thiago Caeiro, LM, 70 (Youth product)
Francisco Rodriguez, RM, 71 (Aged 20)

Let me know what you think of the squad. Obviously, it is very deep at each position, but we don't have any true superstars, though the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Carroll, and Cresswell are well on their way to that capacity. Morrison, Rabiot, Delph, and Kouyate also offer exceptional room for growth.

The January transfer window is just a week away, so let me know what you think of my possible transfer targets (at the end of the episode) and also who you could see me shipping off or what position that you think I should address!

I struggle to keep up with your videos but I watch them when I can. Because of this, thanks for the tactics talk.

I really like the midfield combination you have going on, with Downing as AM and Ox as CM. They both have the skill set to operate in the midfield extremely well and it's good to see them working out. Delph, when utilised properly, is one of the best, cheap playmakers in he game. The defensive duo of N'Koulou and Reid is one I really like, both strong and quick. Unfortunately, when I had Reid he didn't work out but it's good to see he is holding down a spot for you. Cresswell is a superstar in the making. On top of all that, the attack is my favourite part of the entire team. Carroll the big strong man and Valencia the little speedy forward that will play to each others strengths and give you more options for attacking style.

As for the video which I did manage to catch, incredibly unlucky results. As for transfers, I think Grenier would be a great signing with Downing getting on a bit and Sertic would be an interesting move.

                              Thought I'd contribute.

My first team is a simple 4-2-3-1, however each player has a certain role in the team. Clyne and Clichy are always overlapping, as they have the pace to attack and defend. To go alongside this, Schurrle tends to get in behind the defence drifting infield while Feghouli sits off and lets Clyne do the overlapping, acting as a playmaker. In the centre of defence is M'Biwa and Boateng, both strong, quick and tall, perfect for countering tall strikers, quick strikers and strong strikers. The defence is incredible. My holding midfield duo is what pulls the team together, Medel utilised as a box-to-box midfielder to use his brilliant tackling and excellent dribbling while Enzo stays central and links up the play between attack and defence. Barkley acts as more of a CF than a CAM as he sits in and around the box, looking to capitalise. Lacazette is tall and quick and this allows me to play down the middle or down the wing to cross in.

This B-Team is brilliant in this tactic. We'll focus on the midfield as the defence is largely the same, except Colback doesn't always overlap, he is more balanced with his play, while the goalie is either Begovic or Darlow. Delph sits in the holding midfield role, cutting off passing lanes before making key passes himself. Murnane and Firmino are playmakers, Murnane stictly in that position while Firmino has a more of a free roam, a role that comes naturally given his flair. Aarons on the tip of the diamond is the innovative part of this tactic, the natural winger placed there and he works wonders. Also given a free roam, he acts as a third striker or a playmaker or a winger. His passing is excellent, as is his finishing and because of this he is instructed to stay forward. The tactic would fall apart without him. Ayoze is utilised as a second striker, with Bony the target man. However, this means Ayoze gets more goals and Bony shields the ball and lays it off to the speedster.

                                Lacazette 90
In a tight match where neither side attacked well and both sides defended well, it took until stoppage time to find a deadlock breaker, and the eventual winner. Firmino played the ball through and Lacazette ran clear onto the perfectly weighted pass to convert through the keepers legs.

Champions League Group Stage Match 1

                                Newcastle 2-0 PSV
                                Ayoze 86
                                Firmino 90

In a dull match, the game came to life at a rainy St. James' Park in the last 5 minutes. Ayoze Perez gave us the lead, flicking past the defender before showing his composure to calmly tuck into the bottom corner past the onrushing keeper. Firmino made it 2 in the last minute, operated on the right, he cut inside, skipped past a defender and tucked it in through the keepers legs.

                                Match 5

                                Newcastle 3-0 Arsenal
                                Lacazette 33
                                Lacazette 50
                                Schurrle 89

We took the lead in this match through a wonderful Lacazette header. Chambers whipped it in on the volley with the outside of his boot perfectly to find the head of Lacazette who powered it into the top corner. He made it 2 not long after half time, tackling Mertesacker before running clear and curling into the bottom corner. The game was wrapped up late on, Medel going on a great run before getting surrounded in the box. He prodded it square to Schurrle who curled it beyond the keeper.

                                Norwich 0-1 Newcastle
                                Barkley 21
Barkley got the only goal of an awful game, knocking in over the top of the keeper after jinking past the defender, finding the underside of the roof of the net with a wonderful effort.

Champions League Group Stage Match 2

                                AIK 1-2 Newcastle
                                Aarons 18
                                Borges 25
                                Ayoze 77

This match was incredibly entertaining and was the debut of my new B-Team tactic, (see above post). Aarons gave us the lead, Bony playing it through and he coolly tucked into the bottom corner. Borges equalised for AIK after a brilliant passing move. Aarons, Bony and Delph all forced great saves from the keeper and Ayoze smashed wide on the half volley. The winner came late on, Ayoze getting the ball out wide in the box. He flicked it past the sliding defender and curled into the bottom corner at the far post, an excellent goal.
