Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

    FIFA 15 | PS3 | Season 3 | 2016-17

    The Swans

    September 2016

    Sept 10th
    Match 4
    Tottenham 1-2 Swansea

    Ki 61' (Shelvey)
    Adebayor 71'
    Berahino 84' (Richards)

    MotM: Ashley Richards

"The B team had to play this match with our first Champions League match against Dortmund in 3 days. They did well in a tough and tight game. Felipe (Anderson) did fairly well on his debut. It was a good team effort."

    Sept 14th
    Champions League Group Stage
    Match 1
    Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Swansea

    Reus 3' Pen
    Immobile 22'

    MotM: Ciro Immobile

We faced a real test in our first ever Champions League match. The giants from Germany Borussia Dortmund. Things started terribly when just 3 minutes in Amat had taken out Blaszczykowski inside the box after he had taken down a header from a corner. Reus stepped up and sent Scuffet the wrong way to open the scoring. Reid then gave a pass trying to reach Centurion but Blaszczykowski intercepted it and played Immobile in behind Reid, who was flat footed. He placed it around Scuffet. We had some chances but were unable to equalize.

"The gap in quality was a bit clear tonight. We didn't great many clear cut chances. 1 or 2 at most. The are a good team but the goals could've been avoided. The penalty was just clumsy and the second was a badly misplaced pass that we were punished for."

    Sept 17th
    Match 5
    Swansea 3-1 Norwich

    Dyer 26' (Berahino)
    Sigurdsson 42' (Ki)
    Montero 89' (Shelvey)
    Lafferty 90'

    MotM: Jonjo Shelvey

A beautiful counter attacking move allowed Dyer to bag a goal 26 minutes in. Berahino skipped inside Dann's challenge and found Dyer's run in behind Olsson before he finished it under the out rushing Ruddy. The lead was doubled through Sigurdsson close to halftime. A first time through ball from Ki went straight into Sigurdsson's path leaving him the space to finish around Ruddy from just inside the box. Mark Tidser came on for Sigurdsson to make his first team debut and had a good chance that was well saved. McKenzie and Anderson also came on and were both involved in a third goal a minute before the end. McKenzie got in the middle of the pitch near the box from Anderson and then he passed it across to Shelvey who played in Montero in behind. Montero turned back in on his right then fired low and hard past Ruddy. Lafferty responded with only Norwich's second shot on target less than a minute later snatching away another clean sheet in the dying moments. Hayes was furious on the sidelines and going mental.

"A game that we dominated and deserved to win. I'm furious that we let a goal in with the last kick of the game and lost our clean sheet. It should have been a 3-0 win not a 3-1 victory."

    Sept 20th
    Capital One Cup Round 3
    Peterborough 0-2 Swansea

    Anderson 42' (McKenzie)
    Graham 60'

    MotM: José Cañas

A mix of the B and C teams played this game with Youth Products McKenzie, Tidser, Wilson and Graham all starting. McKenzie was involved in the breakthrough goal after being played down the line by Emnes. He managed to avoid Smith's challenge inside the box and turn back to pass it across to Anderson who had gotten free. He took a touch before smashing it into the top corner under pressure from Zakuani and Burgess. Graham grabbed a second goal in 2 appearances on the hour mark. Anderson tried to pass it into McKenzie and Graham but Zakuani tried to intercept it. His touch deflected it into Graham's path inside the box and he placed a wonderful shot low beyond Alnwick. It was placed so well it didn't need any pace to beat the him. Shane Brennan replaced Tidser to make his first team debut. And that's how the game ended. Wilson kept a second clean sheet in between the sticks and Declan Graham narrowly missed out on Man of the Match.

    Sept 24th
    Match 6
    Stoke 1-0 Swansea

    Edu 56'

    MotM: Maurice Edu

The B team played this fixture as another Champions League match is coming up midweek against PSG. 10 minutes in however Ki had suffered a broken ankle after Arnautovic committed a horrid, two footed challenge on him. Cañas was the replacement. It was a tight first half with Diouf and Berahino exchanging shots off the crossbar. Edu got the only goal of the game in the 56th minute powering into the box and sending a rocket into the top corner. We tried to find an equalizer but Stoke kept putting their bodies on the line and preventing us from scoring.

"It was just one of those games where you can't score no matter how hard you try. Stoke are a good and organized team and showed it by locking us out after they got the goal. Early reports are saying that Ki (Sung Yeung) is going to be out for at least a couple of months thanks to that terrible challenge that didn't even get a yellow when it was definitely a straight red. But of course referees don't want to make big decisions so early in the game."

Ki Sung Yeung is expected to be out of action for at least 3 months with his Broken Ankle.

    Sept 27th
    Champions League Group Stage
    Match 2
    PSG 1-2 Swansea

    Delph 30' (Ings)
    Bony 80' (Stambouli)
    Suarez 85'

    MotM: Wilfried Bony

Hayes wanted a better performance than the one against Dortmund on match day 1 and he got the start he wanted. After several missed chances by Ings he played in Delph in behind Marquinhos and Delph just smashed it with his right foot past Sirigu at his near post. Ings forced another top save from Sirigu before Suarez had a free kick go just over to end the half. Cabaye struck the post very early in the half after linking up well with Suarez. Delph forced a good save with a long range effort before Hayes decided to bring on Zouma for Ings and go 5-4-1 along with parking the bus. We got some luck then when Stambouli managed to slide Bony in on the half way line and he won the race before dispatching it with an outside of the boot, finesse shot. Delph made a mistake when he passed it back straight to Suarez and he made no mistake pulling one back for PSG. They held on and Swansea got their first win of the group stage.

    Mark Tidser - CAM - 68 Ovr - 76-82 Pot - 17
Mark wanted out and signed a 1 year contract earning £500 a week. He can also play at CM along with his natural CAM position.

    Spoiler

    Sept 3rd
    World Cup Qualifiers
    Game 1
    Norway 0-0 Ireland

    MotM: Ørjan Nyland

"We just couldn't break them down. We need to be more creative in attack and get 3 points in games like these as there are teams like Italy and Belgium in the group. Jack Grealish made his debut this game and congratulations to him."

    Sept 7th
    World Cup Qualifiers
    Game 2
    Ireland 4-1 Northern Ireland

    McClean 13' (McGeady)
    McKay 15'
    Long 16' (Stokes)
    Stokes 25' (Long)
    Stokes 55' (McClean)

    MotM: Anthony Stokes

"A very good performance in a rare international derby. It was a fast paced first 30 minutes with Shane's (Long) chip the pick of the bunch. It quietened down then before Anthony (Stokes) headed in a sublime cross by James (McClean) to cap off a Man of the Match performance. We dominated possession and controlled the game."

Really busy day at work today so I haven't had a chance to get on here much, just wanted to reply to a couple things.

      Oh, and Guillermo = Suarez.
Yes, the focus is more on the league than Europe. The reason being that the board don't care for it either. My objective for the Europa was to reach the group stage, but I didn't have a qualifying round so I met that objective already. Even when I open the objectives menu the Europa League doesn't show up, only the league and the cup. I've been considering using the first team in the next matches though. I don't aspire to go for the title, but I want to at least get through the group stage and it's getting tough. The B team is technically the weaker side, but their team work is what gets them through. However this season all of my attacking players in the B team have been in terrible form. It is getting frustrating.

Haha I couldn't believe it when I saw Guillermo was tied at top scorer with Suarez! He had a rough start to the season but now he's back!

Your comments about Arsenal made me literally LOL.

Tex: Really hope Lechleiter (spelled it right this time!) makes it to May! Awesome how you still had his stats from previous seasons. Heads up though, I remember that in 14 you would automatically get demands from youth players on April 1st. Always right on the clock. Sometimes I would get two sets of demands, one in the beginning of April and the other in mid-April. It's like the game knows you've been waiting for May and it just wants to ruin it for you. Damn you EA.

        TOON TO THE TOP
        SEASON 4
        PS4

        Match 7

        Newcastle 4-1 Spurs
        Perez 45 (PEN)
        Lacazette 69
        Lacazette 77
        Barkley 88
        Lamela 90

Perez opened the scoring on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot after a thrilling turn of events. Clichy whipped the ball in and Yedlin knocked it with his toe, the deflected cross hitting the post before Lacazette hit the post on the rebound half volley. As he hit it he was brought down by Vorm and a penalty was given. Lacazette then made it 2 against his former club, curling into the bottom corner. He then got a second, getting the ball on the half way line, knocking it past the defender and running clear before smashing into the top corner with his left foot. Barkley made it 4 late on, curling under the keeper after a wonderful run beating 3 defenders. Lamela got a consolation with a deflected effort in stoppage time.

        International Friendlies

        England 5-0 Ivory Coast
        Rooney 13
        Walcott 29
        Rooney 39
        Agbonlahor 57
        Gibbs 73

        England 3-0 India
        Rooney 11
        Agbonlahor 43
        Walcott 60

        Match 8

        Newcastle 2-1 Aston Villa
        Perez 42 (PEN)
        Feghouli 79
        Carrillo 90

Perez opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Barkley was rashly pulled down in the box. Feghouli made it 2 with his first goal for the club, firing into the bottom corner with an excellent, dipping effort. Carrillo pulled one back in stoppage time, heading in after outjumping Clyne at the far post.

Champions League Group Stage Match 3

        Newcastle 1-1 Juventus
        Bony 18
        Morata 90

Bony opened the scoring for us in this rematch of the Copa Europe final, heading in powerfully from an excellent Chambers cross. The rest of the match was quite even and Aarons had the chance to make sure of the win late on when he went one on one but he took too many touches and the keeper covered it easily. Juve then went all out attack for the last couple of minutes and finally scored when Morata headed into the top corner brilliantly.

        Match 9

        Manchester City 0-1 Newcastle
        Lacazette 79
This match was a midfield battle, the first chance coming in the second half when Toure fired wide after an excellent passing move. City had another chance soon after that Begovic saved unbelievably. Lacazette had a shot of his own saved excellently, Caballero getting one hand to the low strike to put it out for a corner. The only goal came when a pass to Kompany across goal went badly wrong. Kompany missed the ball and Lacazette was on hand behind him to fire into the back of the net.

        League Cup Round 4

        Peterborough 0-2 Newcastle
        Ayoze 22
        Lascelles 57

        Simmed.

        Match 10

        Newcastle 0-0 Everton
An unbelievably dull match. Everton were not an attacking threat but they kept all of our creative players in their back pocket, Lacazette had no room to move, Barkley was mobbed as soon as he got the ball, Coleman kept Schurrle at bay. Hell, even Enzo couldn't create anything.

Bacuna dribbled left across the box and laid it off to Çiftçi who hit it first time into the top right corner. Kruse stepped up and perfectly placed a free kick into the top right corner to complete a brace on the night. Green sent a corner into the box that Çiftçi got between two defenders and headed inside the far post to pull one back for St. Pauli.

Hallberg found Çiftçi up the middle barely avoiding the sliding challenge and then finished to the bottom right corner. Riski lost his marker on a corner and was able to head the ball into the top right corner just before half. Svensson sent a cross in from the right wing that Helland rose above Sobiech and headed the ball into the bottom right corner past the sprawling keeper for the equalizer.

Buballa came down the left side of the goal and had the ball taken away from him in the box but was able to win it right back and hit it past the keeper for the lead. Storm chipped the ball over the top of the defense for Werner to run onto and strike home inside the right post. Yoell van Nieff converted from the penalty spot after Buchtmann was brought down roughly in the box. Just before half Darida sent a corner into the box that Kolar was able to win a header on and send it into the top left corner for the lead. With the match almost over, Necid secured the victory with a great header off of Kolar's cross into the top right corner.

Michal Mak played a huge through ball up to Çiftçi to put him through on goal and beat the keeper one on one giving Çiftçi a goal in every match this month.

St. Pauli Player of the Month

          Nadir Çiftçi

While it may be getting repetitive with his third in a row, who else was more deserving this month? Scoring in every match of the month for a total of 7 goals. His superb form has boosted St. Pauli to within 1 point of the top 3.

          Press Conference
Q: Your form continues to impress, but you dropped points against Borussia M'Gladbach who remains just 1 point ahead of you for 3rd in the table. Do you think you will be able to overtake them by the end of the season?

A: The match against them was a golden opportunity to move into 3rd and we failed to take advantage of that. We responded well the rest of the month though, and we need to continue that over this last stretch of games. I think we have a good chance to pass them though after we have been slowly gaining on them for some time now.

Q: Huge success in the Europa League this month moving into the quarter finals after beating Rosenborg BK. You followed it up with a convincing 4-1 win in the first leg of the quarter finals against Marseille. With the 3 goal lead, it would be hard to imagine you not moving on to the semi-finals. What do you think is the reason for your success in this competition so far?

A: Keeping our players rested has been one of our largest factors in this. We want to consistently be playing our best XI when we go into these matches, and while it has been tough with the fixture scheduling, I think we have done a good job. The other factor has to be our depth. Aside from our first XI, the bench has been performing at a high level throughout this competition. The team is coming together perfectly so far, and we really couldn't have imagined better results.

Q: You have Schalke scheduled in the semi-final of the Deutscher Pokal coming up. What do you need to do in order to beat them and advance to the final for the second straight year?

A: We have to find a way to neutralize Eric Choupo-Moting who always seems to hurt us. Another focus is to find ways to disrupt Maximilian Meyer in the midfield before he can get into a rhythm. On our end, we need to focus on strong build up play, controlling the ball, and finishing the chances when we get them.

            Juan Gomez, €2,400,000 to Torino
            Alejandro Gonzalez, €2,000,000 to Catania

            Transfers In

            Kingsley Coman

69 Ovr, Left Winger, 20 Years Old, France

Season Loan with €1,000,000 Buy Option

Hellas Verona signed eight players in the summer and two of them were on loan. The young attacker Kingsley Coman is one of the two loanees who will spend a season at Verona with an option to sign permanently for them after the season. The 20-year-old Coman is a fast and versatile attacker who can play everywhere up front. He will probably be a substitute winger for Hellas Verona.

            Alessio Romagnoli

72 Ovr, Centre Back, 21 Years Old, Italy

Season Loan with €2,800,000 Buy Option

The second loan signing Hellas Verona made happened on deadline day after they sold Alejandro Gonzalez. This will be Romagnoli's second season on loan at Verona after spending last season there, as well. The young Italian centre half is a solid defender and he has big potential. Verona can buy him in the summer for just under three million if they want to.

            Fuka Masuaku

73 Ovr, Left Back, 22 Years Old, France

            €350,000 + Davide Brivio

Hellas Verona's squad became a lot younger in the transfer window and the left back position was one of the positions that got younger. The Italian team completed a swap deal with Olympiakos which saw Fuka Masuaku and Davide Brivio change teams. The Greek champions also got 350 thousand euros. The 22-year-old French defender, who is very fast and skillful, will compete with Nicola Murru for playing time.

            Pedro Obiang

79 Ovr, Central Midfielder, 24 Years Old, Spain

            €500,000 + Romulo

The second-cheapest swap deal Hellas Verona completed was bringing in Pedro Obiang for half a million and the ageing benchwarmer Romulo. Obiang, who was regarded as one of the most talented Spanish holding midfielders, has spent a couple of years at Sampdoria. He is a great passer of the ball and he's good defensively which make him a perfect choice for a starting defensive midfielder.

            Breel Embolo

72 Ovr, Striker, 19 Years Old, Switzerland

            €1,000,000 + Samuele Longo

One of the players who didn't play that well and who didn't get much playing time last season was the attacker Samuele Longo. Now he will continue his career in Switzerland for Basel as a replacement for another striker, Breel Embolo, who joined Verona in a swap deal. Embolo is an attacker with a huge potential and lots of pace. He is expected to get a lot of playing time off the bench.

            Balde Keita

76 Ovr, Left Winger, 21 Years Old, Spain

            €2,000,000 + Federico Bernardeschi

Probably the most interesting signing Verona made in the summer was buying Balde Diao Keita from Lazio in a money plus cash deal as a replacement for the underperforming Bernardeschi. The Spanish winger will add a new level to Verona's attack with his fast speed and good dribbling. Keita can shoot well and he has a lot of potential.

            Dennis Praet

78 Ovr, Left Midfielder, 22 Years Old, Belgium

            €2,000,000 + Zlatko Junuzovic

Another very interesting transfer completed by Verona was the signing of Dennis Praet from Anderlecht in a deal which saw Junuzovic move to Belgium. Verona were also going after Alexandru Maxim from Stuttgart but they ended up signing the four years younger Praet. He is a talented and skillful midfielder who can play everywhere in the attacking part of the midfield.

            Davide Zappacosta

79 Ovr, Right Back, 24 Years Old, Italy

            €2,000,000 + Matteo Darmian

The final signing of Hellas Verona which was another swap deal, saw Davide Zappacosta arrive from Atalanta for a fee of two million euros and Matteo Darmian. Zappacosta has still some years left in him and he can only get better in the following years. He isn't that fast but he is a great all-around defender.

            Poli 38', Honda 88', Indi 120'

"We were very good today and it's always good to start the season with a win in the cup that doesn't matter. The only bad thing about our performance was the defending, it was terrible. The debutants were good, though."

            Hellas Verona 2 - 1 AS Roma
            Choupo-Moting 36', Obiang 65'
            Ljajic 26'

"I'm sure both teams remembered our huge win and Roma wanted to get their revenge. Luckily we played well and they didn't manage to get back into the game. I'm happy about the fact that our new signing Obiang got the winning goal."

A really good opening to the month hammering Spurs and then Ivory Coast + India with England. Tough couple of games against Juve and City. I know how you felt with the last minute equalizer. Good to see that you are top of both the League and your Group.

Some high scoring games! Tough to lose your first game of the month but well done on bouncing back to getting through to the Europa quarter finals and then winning the first leg quite handy against Marseille. Some really good results with Czech as well including taking Germany's scalp! Only 1 more month for Lechleiter!

A typical Simppu window! You got good money for the 3 that left and in turn got good value for your money. 8 signings is a big overhaul. Do you think you'll win the league again? Good to see you have decreased the overall age of the team. They can only get better as they get older! I really like the signings of Coman, Obiang and Kieta. I feel you got Obiang really cheap! 2 good wins to open the season!

Yes, I believe I can win the league again. The team is better than it was last year and it has more (and better) depth and it can beat teams like Milan and Roma. The Champions League will be tough with ManU and BVB in the same group. Now that you mentioned the age, I think there is only one player in the starting eleven who is over 26 and that is Choupo-Moting.

The players you mentioned have been doing well. Coman has been a good substitute and the other two are doing well.

Dortmund happen to be in my group as well! PSG replace United though. It's good to see you have a team for the future in the making.

                    The Swans

                    October 2016

                    Oct 1st
                    Match 7
                    Swansea 2-0 West Ham

                    Bony 49' (Stambouli)
                    Bony 53' (Stambouli)

                    MotM: Benjamin Stambouli

After a dominant first half display by us we got the breakthrough from a Stambouli corner headed in by Bony. A corner on the other side produced the same result 4 minutes later. Picking up the Man of the Match was Stambouli for his 2 assists and over all play. We dominated possession and the attempts on goal. West Ham just didn't seem to get going despite the best efforts of Moose on the sideline.

                    Oct 15th
                    Match 7
                    Derby 1-4 Swansea

                    Berahino 40' (Sigurdsson)
                    Graham 50'
                    Berahino 56'
                    Sammon 76'
                    Sigurdsson 90' (Pen)

                    MotM: Saido Berahino

Early on Cañas picked up an injury and had to be replaced by youth product Graham. We then got a breakthrough in the 40th minute. Sigurdsson played it into Berahino and he turned O'Brien before smashing past Petric. Graham then scored his 3rd goal in his 3 appearances shortly after halftime. Anderson swung in a cross from the left and it was cleared by Freeman. It fell to Graham on the edge of the box and he took a few touches before driving it past Petric with his weaker right foot. Berahino dispossessed O'Brien before dribbling into the area past Buxton and curling it into the bottom corner. Zouma was tacked by Sammon who was through on goal and took away yet another clean sheet. Sigurdsson then won a penalty off Hendrick and dispatched it himself to finish off the game.

José Cañas suffered a Bruised Elbow and will be out for 5 days.

                    Champions League Group Stage
                    Match 3
                    Swansea 3-0 Anderlecht

                    Bony 19'
                    Centurion 45' (Ings)
                    Najar 55'
                    Ings 90' (Delph)

                    MotM: Danny Ings

A cross from Redmond was met by Ings at the front post forcing a reaction save from the keeper. Bony was alert to get the rebound in despite the best efforts of Anderlecht's keeper. Ings then played Centurion in down the middle and he used his pace to get free and coolly finish. Najar then got himself a 2nd yellow for another in-from-behind tackle to reduce Anderlecht to 10 men for the remaining 35 minutes. Ings rounded the night off doing a give and go with Delph before finessing past the keeper.

                    Oct 22nd
                    Match 9
                    Swansea 1-2 Crystal Palace

                    Williams 6'
                    Hooper 33' (Pen)
                    Sigurdsson 58'

                    MotM: Gylfi Sigurdsson

Cañas initially cut out the through ball to Williams but his pass hit off Koulibaly and deflected into Williams' path where he struck it in off the post. It got worse as Koulibaly was judged to have pushed Williams over inside the area. Hooper stepped up and tucked away the ensuing penalty. We eventually pulled one back through Sigurdsson. Berahino played it into him and Wynter's tackle got the ball but Sigurdsson still had control of it. He then finished it past Hennessey. After completely dominating the game 2 stupid mistakes cost us. The penalty, clearly shown on the replay, was not a penalty. Williams stepped on Koulibaly's heel and then fell over. With only 3 shots on target Palace managed to score with 2 of them.

                    Oct 25th
Capital One Cup Round of 16
                    Manchester City 1-5 Swansea

                    Ings 12' (Stambouli)
                    Centurion 22' (Bony)
                    Bony 38' (Stambouli)
                    Ings 45' (Centurion)
                    Benzema 80'
                    Delph 87' (Centurion)

                    MotM: Benjamin Stambouli

A Stambouli corner caused damage again when 12 minutes in Ings rose at the back stick to head into the top corner. 10 minutes later the score board read 2-0. Centurion played a one two with Bony and used his raw pace to get away from Clichy. He turned inside Mangala before finishing past Caballero. Another Stambouli corner produced yet another goal on 38'. This time Bony was on the receiving end, getting free in the middle of the 6 yard box and heading in easily. Amazingly we went 4-0 up on the stroke of halftime. Centurion played Ings in behind Mangala and Ings hit it across Caballero to get his 2nd of the game. A mixup between Clyne and Scuffet from a Navas cross meant the ball bounced down inside the area and Benzema smashed it home. Centurion was played down the line and he pulled it back across to Delph who put it away into the corner for 5-1.

                    Oct 29th
                    Match 10
                    Everton 2-2 Swansea

                    Bertrand 14' OG
                    Shelvey 27' (Berahino)
                    Lukaku 51'
                    Sigurdsson 83' (Pen)

                    MotM: Gylfi Sigurdsson

Lukaku was put through and Bertrand tried to stick with him and win the ball but he only managed to poke the ball under Fabianski and into his own net. Berahino passed it to Shelvey inside the area and he curled it around Robles with his first touch to level the game. Lukaku then scored himself on 51' volleying across Fabianski and in off the post. Anderson was played down the right. He cut in and just as he was about to shoot McCarthy took him down winning a penalty. Sigurdsson didn't feel the pressure and equalized from the spot with 7 minutes left to play.

So after another month 10 games have been played. The new standings see Chelsea leapfrog Liverpool and claim top spot by 4 points. Manchester United also move up a place to 2nd at the expense of former leaders Liverpool who have dropped to 3rd after only picking up 4 points from a possible 16. Meanwhile the blue half of Manchester claimed an impressive 10 points seeing them climb from 7th up to 4th. Arsenal remain 5th while we have dropped to 6th after only picking up 7 points this month. Stoke and Everton have both slipped considerably down the table meaning Newcastle and Palace now occupy 7th and 8th spots with 17 and 16 points respectively. Now to the other end of the table. Norwich have climbed out of the relegation zone on goal difference and Blackburn have fallen into it. Southampton have moved to 18th after being bottom this time last month. Derby have sank to the bottom with only 2 points from 10 games and having conceded a massive 27 goals.

The Dortmund juggernaut kept rolling this month defeating PSG 1-0. The win is their 3rd of the group and they are unbeaten sitting atop Group A with 9 points. We sit 2nd on 6 points following our 3-0 win against Anderlecht earlier in the month. PSG are 3rd losing to the Germans by a single goal. Anderlecht are rock bottom and are the whipping boys of the group having conceded 7 goals in 3 matches and scored a measly 2.

Comments: I tried the 4-3-3 I use with Swansea B team and needless to say it didn't really work. I switched back later in the game but the ball just would not go in. The Belgium game was going great until the last kick of the game when Lukaku equalized. We defended well and then got the goal off a corner. We just had to see the game out and unfortunately we couldn't do it. I was really sickened at the end of that game.

                    Fixtures for November
                    2/11 - Borussia Dortmund
                    5/11 - Liverpool

                    16/11 - Turkey (WC Qualifier)
                    19/11 - Hull City
                    22/11 - Anderlecht
                    26/11 - QPR
                    29/11 - Bolton (COC)

From these games I hope to pick up at least 10 points in the league. We should win all the games against Blackburn, Hull and QPR while I'm hoping for at least a point against Liverpool but I want a win. I expect to be beat Bolton and advance in the cup also. In the Champions League 4 points is what I'm aiming for. Anderlecht should be comfortable while Dortmund will be a test to get a draw. A win against Anderlecht should be enough to get me through in 2nd provided Dortmund beat PSG. With the next 2 WC Qualifiers I want to beat Turkey and a point against the Italians will make me happy. Though seeing as they are currently 2nd last maybe I can sneak a win with their poor form.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Okay, I can't figure out where I left off, so I'm starting from page 960.

@Tex January was okay in terms of results for you, but it was a great chance for Ciftci to display his importance to the team. February was quite the month, especially that 5-4 win over Hamburg! March was also a great time. Not the best way to start, but you kicked on and finished on a high note with that big 4-1 win. April and May will be very interesting! And yes, for next season onwards, I do need to take Coke out of the midfield. I want a box-to-box player there, but it's been tough finding British midfielder with the stats I want at a price and wage I can afford! No success so far. And in defence, Lees hasn't shown any sign of progression, so I'm not sure I can afford to keep him in past this season.

@Jamie Incredible season! Congrats on both trophies. Shame that you had to be the one to send Stoke down, but your success is more important than their failure. Interesting squad you have. Just a thought, but I wonder if you could have brought another Englishman or two into the starting XI. Firmino, Feghouli and Lacazette are excellent, though, no mistake. You'll go far with those three in the side.

@Kenny Best of luck. Hope you do well with school and exams.

@Regens Glad to see you back on here. Southampton career should be quite interesting.

@Keano I'm liking the Bertrand signing. You also got Bernat for peanuts given his talent and potential, and I'm sure he will develop into a very important player. You've also started the season well, with very good showings against PSG and Anderlecht in the UCL. As for Westwood, I would love to keep him around as a backup keeper, but I doubt I can get more than a couple of months without him complaining about game time. Let's see what happens.

                        @Cruzerr
It looks all but over for the title, which looks like it's between you and Chelsea. You have an eight-point deficit with a game in hand. Win that, and then keep winning, and you might just have a chance if they make a few mistakes along the way.

@Simppu Congrats on winning the title. You're some sort of trophy magnet, winning them with world-class sides and minnows alike. Shame you couldn't also win the Europa League, but there's always next year for glory in Europe! And I don't know how you keep getting these kids on such good loan-to-buy deals! Obiang and Embolo will be big for you, I think.

@Chico October was a month of mixed results, no? You probably should have beat Valladolid on the basis of form, but to hold Real and Valencia are both great results, especially with the first of those being away from home. You seem to be in a great place on the table, so there's enough room and time for the the B team to pick their slack up.

@Moose Yes sir, I think signing Delph on a free instead of going with a bigger summer budget proved to be the smart decision. His pace and energy have been outstanding. Easily the fulcrum of my team. Without him, I doubt I'd have the nerve to give my other players so much freedom to go forward.

                        General Notes

                        - Looks like the 4-4-2 and its variants (including diamond) are making a resurgence with many of us. I think it's a fantastic formation for fast, powerful counter-attacks. But does any one else find the 4-4-2 with two central and two wide midfielders a bit susceptible to any formation with three central midfield players?

                        - How do you guys do this B team thing? I can't seem to stop myself from choosing the best team for a given match, which usually puts me in with the same XI, with one or two changes for the sake of versatility. I don't think I use more than 18 different players in a season, so I really can't get how you guys change an entire XI and get away with good results.

Thanks, I very pleased with the signings as well. They have improved the team a lot. I think I have a food chance of getting out of the group in 2nd seeing where PSG are at the moment. And I reckon if I can get a good draw in the next rounds maybe I can even reach the quarters or semis. Hopefully Westwood will be happy sitting on the bench but I doubt he will be. Also another question , have you set up and Academy?

The 4-4-2 definitely seems to be coming back, I'll have to see how I do against 3 CMs the next time I come up against it. And in regards to the B Teams. With me I just happen to have some very good and quality depth. For instance, Sigurdsson, Shelvey, Ki, Fabianski, Dyer, Zouma and Berahino are all with the B Team. They are some very good players that would get into a lot of teams. My youth products are also starting to see some game time. Particularly Graham who although is only a 64 Ovr he has scored in every game he had played in. He can also play at CAM and CDM which is good as he can slot into 2 positions on the B Team but also onto the first team if he was needed.

                            The Wednesday: December '15

                            December 5, Hillsborough Stadium
                            Barclays PL: Matchday 15

                            SHW 2-1 AVL

Gary Mackay-Steven finished off a team goal that involved six Sheffield Wednesday players to score the winner against Aston Villa, who are bottom of the Barclays Premier League on goal difference. Graham Burke opened the scoring for Villa with a fortunate effort in the 18th minute, but Diafra Sakho restored parity before the break with a penalty. The visitors suffered once again for failing to replace Christian Benteke, who joined Manchester City last summer for £18 million.

"We weren't particularly poor in the first half. Yes, we could have been better in some areas, but their goal felt a bit like a sucker punch. I think the decision to award us a penalty was brave from the referee, and nobody can fault the lads after they strung together that excellent team goal late in the game. This win gives us a good bit of momentum going into two very difficult games."

                            Barclays PL: Matchday 16

                            SHW 2-2 LIV

Diafra Sakho's solo effort rescued a point for Sheffield Wednesday after Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge had given Liverpool a 2-1 lead. The Senegalese also scored the hosts' first goal, equalising after being teed up by Gary Mackay-Steven, who brought his assist tally for the season to seven. It was the first encounter between the two teams since 1999, at the ground where 96 Liverpool supporters lost their lives in 1989 due to negligent policing.

"On the pitch, we were open and expansive. I think we matched Liverpool's intensity and force, which isn't easy to do. Both teams can walk away happy with the result and proud of their performances. Obviously, this is a big moment for many Liverpool fans, especially those closely connected with what took place in 1989. For many of them, it was a first visit to a ground that holds so many negative memories and connotations, but both sets of supporters can be proud of how they conducted themselves today."

                            Barclays PL: Matchday 17

                            CHE 2-0 SHW

Thorgan Hazard scored his seventh league goal for Chelsea, finishing off a 65th-minute counter-attack after Sheffield Wednesday spent large portions of the game defending their goal while putting pressure on Manuel Neuer. Diego Costa secured the win for the Blues after several Wednesday players went blank defending a late free kick. Gary Mackay-Steven played a fantastic 90 minutes, tearing into Chelsea's substitute right back Ola Aina several times, yet he lacked the support to produce any end product.

"You're always going to have games where you do all the right things at the right time, but you still can't manage to score because the other side is that lucky. Chelsea are obviously a top team, and there's no question that they had the players to justify the result, but you can't help but think that on another day, we might have seen a bit of fruit for our labour. We have had games this season that we probably didn't deserve to win, so I'm not complaining that we should have got the points, but it is what it is."

                            December 19, Loftus Road
                            Barclays PL: Matchday 18

                            QPR 0-1 SHW

Diafra Sakho netted for the fourth time in as many games to help Sheffield Wednesday to a valuable win at Queens Park Rangers. The Senegal international turned Rio Ferdinand, beat him for pace, and unleashed a ferocious shot that left Alex McCarthy with no chance of a save. Charlie Austin spurned a number of clear-cut chances, leaving his side second-bottom on the table with just two wins in 18 games.

"Like I said last week, we do win our share of games that we probably shouldn't have got anything from. You question whether the result would have been so much in our favour had their strikers taken the chances that were created for them, but we're quite happy to come away with a win today. We host Wigan next, and a win at home will be a fantastic way to end the year."

                            December 26, Hillsborough Stadium
                            Barclays PL: Matchday 19

                            SHW 0-3 WIG

Grant Holt's late penalty capped off a shocking 3-0 win for Wigan Athletic, with Andreas Weimann and former Genoa midfielder Felipe Seymour also netting at Hillsborough. Sheffield Wednesday produced one of the worst defensive displays of their season, allowing Wigan 18 attempts on goal while retaliating with just five of their own. The loss completes a month of mixed results for the Owls, who now have seven points from their last five games.

"There's no excuses for today. We were quite poor collectively, and we let Wigan have their way with the ball. It was completely unlike us, but we have to find an answer right away. January is going to be a busy month for us on the pitch, and when we host Queens Park Rangers here in a few weeks, we need to be at 100% to get a result."

                            January Preview

Aside from an unexpected loss to Wigan, December went by pretty much as we hoped and expected it would at the start of the month. Liverpool's visit to our ground, their first in more than 15 years, was a special moment for everyone involved. Though we lost, our performance against Chelsea was encouraging, but the result against Wigan is something we hope not to repeat anytime soon.

We currently stand at ninth on the table with 28 points, our loss to Wigan having allowed West Brom to overtake us. There is no problem with scoring goals, and we're only conceding as many as a mid-table side would be expected to, so our season is in very good shape.

Arsenal have let go of their lead in spectacularly Arsenal fashion. From being six clear at the top, they are now second, one point behind Spurs and only ahead of Manchester United on goal difference. City round out the top four with 40 points, with Liverpool and Chelsea right behind them on 37 points courtesy some consistently good results.

Shocking news continues to trickle in from around Europe. Borussia Dortmund lead the Bundesliga by 11 points, with Bayern Munich sitting in distant fourth after the losses of Manuel Neuer to Chelsea, Javi Martinez to City, and Bastian Schweinsteiger to a long-term ACL injury.

In France, PSG are only one point clear at the top, but the shock is in who they're ahead of. With 39 points in 18 games, second-placed Saint Etienne are on the verge of a stunning campaign.

But perhaps the biggest surprise comes from Italy, where the dominance of Juventus has all been broken. Inter lead Serie A, with Fiorentina second and Milan third. Juventus are a distant seventh, a staggering 14 points behind the leaders!

I don't plan on making any wholesale changes in January, but Alex Smithies will be leaving on loan. I plan on giving Stevie May a second chance over the next 19 games, but the Scot will be allowed to leave in the summer if he doesn't show us that he can cut it at this level.

I'll also be trying to sign Sam Byram from Leeds, but they may not be willing to sell at a reasonable price to an historic local rival, and I won't pay above the odds for a young defender, so much of our success there depends on whether or not Leeds are reasonable in their negotiations. Going by history, our prospects aren't looking very good.

In addition, I will be looking to bring in one or two players on free transfers, though I'm still unsure which of the lads on my shortlist I should pursue.

On the pitch, we face a tough month in January. It all kicks off with QPR (H), Liverpool (A), and Bristol City (H) in the same week. After our FA Cup third-round fixture, we host Chelsea before travelling to Aston Villa, and we complete the month with a home game against Southampton. As well as progressing to the round 4 of the cup, we will look to take around 10 points from the five league fixtures.

I have not been able to get my academy started yet, unfortunately. Limited funds and few takers for my big-money players means I've had to focus my finances on strengthening the first team. But I think this season will end very well. Like Moose said, finishing mid-table will allow me to consolidate and kick on. I plan on making a couple of good pre-contract signings in January, and in the summer, there should be some good regens available for loan or free transfer. At the end of the season, once I have a new budget, the priority will be to get a couple of quality scouts to begin scouring England and another country for young talent!

And yeah, I get how the B team concept works. Perhaps I didn't phrase that well enough. I was simply wondering aloud how you guys don't pick the same XI for every game!

Looking forward to the Academy! Perhaps I didn't get my point across very well either, I was trying to say that I'm confident that my B team can get the win when they play because they still have very good players.

Also that was a pretty good December until that surprise loss to Wigan. I suppose everyone has those kinds of games that nothing goes right at all. Sitting 9th is very good in your first season and as you said it'll allow you to kick on next season with those extra funds. Do you plan on loaning in any players until the summer just to tide you over until your Pre-Contracts arrive?
