Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Guys, I really need your help with something I've been brooding over for a while now. Has anyone ever played Fantasy Football? (Or Soccer if you're American) I was thinking of doing something like that but the games would be played on my FIFA and I would record scores, points, etc. You guys would pick a starting 11 of your choice and then whoever gets the most points from their chosen 11 wins.

This is a very ambitious idea and It probably won't work and it DEFINATELY won't work without you guys... Would you participate? Would I be able to post on here because it isn't necessarily a career mode per say? I'm sure you have a lot of questions so just ask them and I'll answer.

I'd definitely be in for it! I'll post some questions when I think of them later.

Thanks Keano! I've got one so far but I do need more.

To maybe answer some potential questions:

        1. I will post a list of the starting 11's of all the premier league clubs so that you can hand-pick players for starting elevens.

        2. Real life injuries will mean that players will not play for opening gameweeks. For example, Daniel Sturridge has a hip injury in real life so he will not play the opening 2/3 weeks or so.

        3. Fixtures will be based on the real life premier league fixtures. And newly promoted teams will be involved (e.g Norwich, Bournemouth, Watford)

        4. I will post about what points certain players get for certian actions (e.g An assist = 3 points) later on if i get enough people.

        5. Home and Away advantage does seem to count.

        6. I've checked and all the teams I've tested play nearly identical to their real-life counter-parts.

        7. If a substitute plays really well in team, he might be placed into the starting eleven and I will notify you if they do.

You'll probably think of many more but there's just a few.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Hi guys, sorry for no updates on anything. I have been really busy and not had chance to do anything. While I have been free, I have started a Walsall career mode. I'm loving it. I have signed a couple of players, Pak kwang-ryong and Che Adams being 2 of them of the top of my head. The first game we drew away to promotion favorites Preston. We unfortunately lost on penalties to fellow League One Scunny United in the first round of the Capitol One Cup. The next two leagues were both wins! First Pak kwang-ryong scored late on to nick a late win against Sheffield United at home. Then we traveled to Barnsley and both new signings Adams and Pak scored in a 2-0 away win. After three games in the league we sit in a playoff place.

Sounds nice and I'm up for this! It will take a lot of effort but it sounds like it will work. There isn't even need to ask if you would be able to post it here because of all the Star Wars talk that has been going on lately haha

Also, I guess there will be a detailed starting post when this starts?

This sounds decent. Quick question will there be a budgeting system or just pick who you want?

Haha! I guess so! Thanks! It'll definately take a lot of time and work because I will probably have to oversee games to make sure that I know who gets what in terms of points.

100% Yes. There will be a post outlining how players get their points, the clubs starting 11's and I'll also have to figure a few other things out that I will also put into the post.

Good question. I'm not too sure at the moment. It's a big possibility that I will make up prices for each and then you guys have to pick from them with a budget. Unless someone can think of a better way of doing things.

I'm up for it. Definitely do some sort of budgeting system. Otherwise it will just be a race for the best players.

So guys, I loaded up my old Newcastle career and realised I'd been offered a job by Monaco at the end of the season, so I took it. I've been left with an ageing, relatively average squad and I'd love to see what you guys think about me posting that alongside Liverpool, as I can't bring myself to play Brentford because it would be 2 Premier League careers at the same time. It would become a bit of a journeyman career moving around the leagues.

I looked at my old Newcastle squad as I enter the summer transfer window with Monaco. My GOD I made a mistake! I'd forgotten how good that team was: 90 rated Begovic, 89 Boateng, 89 Feghouli, 85 Clyne. No player in the starting XI/bench is valued at less than £15 million!!!

The one player I wanted to bring with me: Andre Schurrle, is valued at £65 million!

                            Valencia CF

                            Transfers Out

                            Miguel Moya
                            , €13,000,000 to Chelsea FC

The Spanish goalkeeper was unhappy about lack of playing time and he wasn't ready to be the second-choice keeper after Sergio Rico. Moya was put up for transfers and Chelsea were ready to buy his €13 million valuation.

Victor Ruiz, €20,000,000 to Malaga CF

The young central defender didn't have a future at the club as Otamendi, Mustafi and Bartra were everything Valencia needed for their centre backs. Malaga agreed to pay a lot of money for the reserve player.

Dani Parejo, €70,000,000 to Paris Saint-Germain

The most shocking departure of the winter was Valencia's captain Dani Parejo. Even more shocking was that PSG were ready to match his €70 million buy-out clause. Many Valencia fans are angry about the sell but Parejo brought a lot of money into the club's transfer budget. He also became the sixth most expensive transfer ever.

                            Transfers In

                            Alphonse Areola

72 Ovr, Goalkeeper, 22 Years Old, France

                            Season Loan

Valencia CF signed two goalkeepers to replace the sold Miguel Moya in this transfer window but only one of them joined the team in January. The young and talented Alphonse Areola, who didn't get much of a chance at Paris Saint-Germain, will spend the following six months on loan at Valencia as the backup option to Sergio Rico. It will be interesting to see how Valencia perform at the back with their two young and inexperienced keepers.

                            David De Gea

86 Ovr, Goalkeeper, 25 Years Old, Spain

                            Bosman Signing

The other goalkeeper signing Valencia made was very unexpected and it made fans very excited. The reigning champions captured one of the best goalkeepers in the world and arguably the best goalkeeper of the Premier League for free on a Bosman deal, meaning that De Gea will join the Spanish team from Manchester United in the summer after his contract runs out. His amazing reflexes make him a great last resort when it comes to the defence.

                            Marquinhos

80 Ovr, Centre Back, 21 Years Old, Brazil

                            €13,000,000

Victor Ruiz's replacement is one of the biggest footballing talents in the world and the young man goes by the name of Marquinhos. The 21-year-old Brazilian defender joined for €13 million from PSG which is almost three times less than what the French club paid for him. The supertalent can play everywhere in defence and it's uncertain where the manager Simone Mendieta will play him.

                            Javi Martinez

84 Ovr, Centre Back, 27 Years Old, Spain

                            €14,000,000 + Shkodran Mustafi

According to some reports Valencia's manager Mendieta was unhappy with Shkodran Mustafi's performances and he decided to replace the German defender with the Basque defender/holding midfielder Javi Martinez. The 27-year-old joined from Bayern München in a player+cash deal and he'll play next to the new captain Nicolas Otamendi.

                            William Carvalho

81 Ovr, Defensive Midfielder, 23 Years Old, Portugal

                            €15,000,000 + Asier Illarramendi

'About time' is what many supporters of the Bats said when this deal was confirmed. The flop signing Asier Illarramendi left the club after five very poor months and after being frozen out of the team. His replacement is also a player that gets the supporters excited as the young William Carvalho is the brightest Portuguese defensive midfielder talents. The Sporting youth graduate might even take Vicente Iborra's place in the starting eleven.

                            Antoine Griezmann

82 Ovr, Striker, 24 Years Old, France

                            €15,000,000 + Pablo Piatti

Another player+cash deal Valencia made saw the out of form Pablo Piatti leave the sunny sea city for the capital Madrid. The man who joined the Bats from Atletico Madrid was the skillful and clinical attacker Antoine Griezmann who can play everywhere in attack. The 24 years old Frenchman made a name for himself at Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid where he became a feared goalscorer. It's uncertain where exactly he will play for Valencia.

                            Alexis Sanchez

85 Ovr, Left Winger, 27 Years Old, Chile

                            €42,000,000

The second-most expensive player of the transfer window and Valencia's most expensive signing ever by a margin of over €10 million is the Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez. The attacker arrived from Arsenal for €42 million which is about ten million less than what the English club paid for him a couple of seasons ago. Alexis is a very skillful, versatile, hungry goals attacker who will surely add a lot to Valencia's attack.

We took the lead early into the game when Pablo Piatti cut in form the left wing and shot the ball past the keeper into the bottom left corner of the goal. A couple of minutes before the fulltime whistle Thiago, Dani Parejo's replacement in midfield and as the set piece taker, converted successfully a penalty to score the second of the night.

After a dull first leg the pressure was on us. Fortunately the second leg was an away one and a draw would've been enough to put as through. Sofiane Feghouli scored first under ten minutes into the game when he ran through the whole attacking third before shooting the ball into the back of the net. The next goal seventy minutes later as Oliver Torres from all people headed the ball into the goal from a Feghouli cross. In stoppage time Eibar pulled one back with Neto's chip. Our next opponent will be Villarreal.

                            Quarter Final, 1st Leg
                            Villarreal CF 2 - 3 Valencia CF
                            J. Dos Santos 45', Vietto 58' pen
                            Feghouli 70', 90', Gaya 81'

What a comeback against our rivals! Once again Villarreal gave us a hard time and they got a two-goal lead in an hour with Jonathan Dos Santos' long shot and Luciano Vietto's penalty goal. Then something changed in our game and Sofiane Feghouli pulled one back ten minutes after Vietto's penalty from a nice through ball. Eleven minutes later Jose Gaya equalised the game from a rebound. The game looked like it would end in a draw but in stoppage time Carlos Bacca's shot got blocked, Villarreal's defenders failed to clear the ball, they fell over each other, the ball fell to Feghouli and the winger shot the ball past the keeper to get an undeserved win.

                            Valencia CF 3 - 1 Real Madrid
                            Negredo 22', Thiago 27' pen, 32'
                            Bale 6'

Real got off to a good start as Gareth Bale tapped the ball into the net from a low cross only six minutes into the game. We managed to equalise fifteen minutes later with Alvaro Negredo's powerful shot into the top left corner and just five minutes later we took the lead thanks to Thiago's penalty. Five minutes later the midfielder got a brace after stealing the ball from kickoff.

                            Quarter Final, 2nd Leg
                            Valencia CF (4) 1 - 0 (2) Villarreal CF
                            Feghouli 38'

We are through to the semi finals! Unlike the first match this one proved to be dull and the only major highlight of the game was Sofiane Feghouli's goal in the 38th minute. We will face Elche in the semi finals.

                              Press Conference
Q: After a run of 12 games unbeaten you finally suffered your first defeat, how will you bounce back?
A: First off I don't feel that we deserved to lose that game, we just didn't take our chances which has happened often since I've been here. As long as we keep up the level of performance we have been we can go another 12 games unbeaten.

Q: Pederson is really rolling back the year having 3 goals and assists, has he indicated at retiring any time soon?
A: He has indicated next year that he may be considering it but as long as he is performing as well as he has been he can still play for another 2 years easily. He has been an integral part of my plans for this side and I hope to continue working with him for more years to come.

Q: That front 3 of Riski, Soderlund and Helland has taken the league by storm this year scoring 14 goals and 8 assists between them, just how important are they to the team?
A: They are vital. The team is built around giving those guys the ball as we know that when they get into the positions they score goals, simple as that. They have stayed injury free so far and have played an important role in why we are where we are in the league.

Steven Pressley Part Way's with Coventry City.
                                Sky Sports, 8/5/2014, 13:00

Rent disputes caused this stadium to be football less last season.

After a season that saw Coventry finish 18th with a 10 point deduction for them entering administration due to rent disputes with the Ricoh Arena manager's ACL (Arena Coventry Limited, who run the stadium for the Alan Edward Higgs Charity and Coventry City Council) and playing at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium. The club is dealt with another blow with Manager Steven Pressley walking out of the club, as the club confirmed on the website today. Sky Sports believe it is due to the lack of funding and support given to him and the squad by the owners in SISU.

SISU the owners are not well regarded by the fans with many protests occurring throughout the city. The fan's believe that money hasn't been spent correctly causing the club to be placed in Administration.

The club are also look to have a hard offseason with it rumoured that many key players are set to be leaving to Championship clubs. These players include: Jordan Fleck, Cyrus Christie, Franck Moussa, Captain Carl Baker and clubs top scorer last season Callum Wilson.

Coventry City's Misery Looks to End as a SISU are "Forced" to Sell.
                                BBC Sport, 25/5/14, 10:00.

The misery that Coventry City fans have dealt with for the past decade may be over with a development coming out of Coventry. Controversial owners SISU have believed to have accepted an offer from Canadian Billionaire Joey Saputo, who currently owns the MLS club Montreal Impact and Italian second tier side Bologna. What we believe is that he is going to buy 100% of the clubs shares as he pays the debt off and regain the Ricoh Stadium before the new season starts. He will also give 30% of the club shares to the Sky Group Trust and develop the trust to a place where they can sufficiently run the club with Saputo.

Joey Saputo who looks to own his third professional football team.

New Times for Coventry as a Dark History for the Club Appears to be Over.

"I'm very excited. I have heard what has happened to this club in the past decade and don't want these loyal fans to go through. I will sit down with the club's officials and see what I will do.

The appointment of the new manager will be in the next few days I have had quite a few applications for the job, we are just looking for one that can fulfil the vision I want and the fans want."

The vision was displayed on the website and follows as below:

                                - Solid intake of money for the club to run off as well as money generated by the owner.
                                - 30% of the club will be run by the trust.
                                - Support from the owner for the trust.
                                - Have a stable managerial department to develop for a long period of time.
                                - A youth and scouting system to find the best talent in the area will be re-developed to make it one of the top youth academies in the country and Europe.
                                - A reasonable transfer budget as according to the league the club is in and depending on the money situation.
                                - Build a young core of players in the first team.
                                - By 10 years the club is fighting or in the Top Division of English Football.
