Q: How do you feel the transfer window went for you?
A: I feel that it went great. We have managed to sign two of Norway top young talents and that is something that is part of my philosophy, helping to develop the countries top talents. Elyounoussi had many options from top clubs and I am glad that he decided to choose us.

Q: You rejected a huge offer for captain Mike Jensen, Why was that?
A: We don't want to be a selling club, we want to keep out best players and we have done that. Mike is a top top player and stated his desire to stay at this club and fight for trophies which shows his commitment to this club. If any player, no matter who it is asks to leave this club then we will meet their desire as long as the price is right.

Q: You are out of January and still top of the league, do you think you will be there come the end of the season?
A: If we continue to keep a high level of performance and win games then we will be champions come the end of the season. Our form has dipped a bit in recent months but I'm hoping the new signings can add a new dynamic to the team and help give us that final push come the end of the season.

Recap: The B team once against surprisingly lets us down against a Mallorca squad that knows very well how to be a pain in our behinds. The visitors put a lot of pressure on the ball throughout the game, forcing some errant passes and keeping Alcorcon uneasy for most of the game. Luckily for us Barca also lost against Valencia so our loss doesn't hurt that much.

Recap: Sevilla was unable to keep the excitement going from the 1st leg, being dominated from beginning to end by a superior Alcorcon squad. Granted, the first 40 minutes of the game were very tense but once the Potters opened up the scoring Sevilla was unable to handle the pressure and they eventually broke down. Here is a highlight of Knoll's goal:

Recap: Even though they had flunked in the team's last league game, the B squad was given another chance in this game since the match against Barca B's team was to 2 days later and they had already lost against that team earlier in the season. Maximilian Knoll made sure the squad wouldn't let us down again with a career night, scoring all 4 goals for us in a rout of Castilla. There aren't many teams that can afford the luxury of having a player of Knoll's caliber coming off the bench and we're thankful that he has committed to being a team player so far. However, after this game you have to wonder what kind of offers the team will receive for him this summer. He's also a reason why the team has listened to offers for Farago in the past. This win also clinched, at worst, a top-6 finish for us, although we obviously have higher goals in mind.

Recap: Without a doubt we'll walk away from this season having nothing but a ton of respect for this squad, especially their goalkeeper Ondoa who was once again magnificent against us collecting 11 saves and a 7.9 game rating that earned him MOTM. His only blemish? A shot from Correa hitting off a side post and bouncing right in front of Farago who knocked it in to give us the 3 points. This victory also assured us of a top-4 finish.

Recap: I considered playing the B team against a bottom-5 team in the league with the 1st leg of the Champions semis coming 3 days later and playing this game just 4 days after defeating Barca B, but in the end I chose to go with the regulars. Would had been fairer to Malaga if I had played the subs as this one was no contest from beginning to end. Knoll did get in on the action late and got to continue an incredible month for him.

Recap: It looks like a team has finally given us a challenge as Chelsea arguably outplayed us in this one and nearly came away with a victory if not for some fine maneuvering in the box by Farago. We had an edge in possession (54%) but Chelsea had twice as many shots (and shots on goal) as us so in a way we were kind of lucky to come away with a draw while only giving up one goal. The 2nd leg is going to be a battle.

Recap: In a game reminiscent of Real Madrid's effort against us in February Chelsea's defense played a suffocating game, constantly eliminating passing lanes for us and winning most air balls in their box. They also put a lot of pressure on us with attacking, eventually breaking us down in the 25th minute for what would be the only goal of the game, enough to eliminate us from this competition on spoil our attempt to win the treble. We certainly had our chances: Salawu broke into the box from the right wing and unleashed a left-footed shot that went slight wide left, Farago received a perfect cross from De Sciglio but his shot was blocked by a defender, and Lopez had maybe the clearest chance at equalizing the game in the 87th minute when he headed a cross from the left that went JUST wide to the right - it would had beaten Courtois if a few inches to the left. Tough loss, once again being eliminated by an English squad after losing to Liverpool in last year's final.

Sigh. We've had an AMAZING season but there is no doubt that failing to even make the finals in the Champions league sucks. It sucks stinky hairy donkey booty. Props to Chelsea, they have an amazing squad as well and made our life hell. As it turns out the team I expected to come from the other semi-final, Arsenal (winners of our group), also failed to move on losing 3-2 in aggregate score against Manchester City ... we would had been in the final against Zeshin Yamura (now 85 OVR, btw). Once again, sigh ...

But hey, still great things to look forward to. We are in excellent position to win La Liga for the first time ever and have a 6 game lead with one less game played, meaning wins in our next 2 games would clinch us the championship. Those 2 games will be happening in a 3-day span but with that much at stake I'm pretty sure I'll be running out the starters for both of those. We also can still accomplish a double if we can beat Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey final on May 20th, and I'm sure the Merengues will try their best to give Cristiano Ronaldo (retiring after this season) the best possibly going away party. Other than that La Liga leaderboards continue to have Lopez (+12) and Farago (+5) with solid leads in the goals and assists departments respectively while the clean sheets battle is a bit more crowded with Real Madrid's Neuer (18) still being closely followed by Bilbao's Krul (16) and Alcorcon's Courtois (15).

The calendar turning to May also means final reports from the Academy. Let's take a look at the youth squad:

• Ohi Anthony Reinhardsen (GK, 64-68 (+7), 90-94): 15-year old from Norway is undoubtedly the crown jewel of the academy standing at 6'2", 158lbs. We're excited about continuing to develop him.
• Jaime Zavaleta (RW, 63-67 (+2), 83-89): 16-year old from USA showing excellent speed didn't show a lot of improvement this season. He's being advised to stay in the academy for another season.
• Chola Mayat (CB, 62-66 (+18), 78-84): 17-year old from Ivory Coast described as Physically Strong gets the "Most Improved" tag to confirm his outstanding potential. He's the hope for a continued line of development at this position and will probably be promoted at some point before he turns 18.
• Kristoffer Solheim (CDM, 60-64 (+14), 74-80): 16-year old from Norway showed some much improvement this season that he's moved up the academy rankings. We'll still like to see another season of him with the youth sqaud. He's described as Defensive Minded.
• Omar Vindheim (CDM, 59-63 (+12), 78-84): 16-year old from Norway described as defensive minded developed very well this season but we'd like to see him stay in the academy for another season. Stands strong at 6'2", 167lbs.
• Shola Sadami (CDM, 57-61 (+16), 81-87): 16-year old from Ivory Coast was the 2nd most improved player in the academy this season and we hope he can repeat his performance with another season in the academy. He makes up for less than ideal size for his position with a lot of strength.
• Alexander Antonsen (LB, 55-59 (+13), 73-79): 17-year old from Norway showed a lot of improvement this season but needs to stay in the academy for one more season otherwise he won't be called up. Will be developed as a CB due to his lack of speed and size of 6'2", 176lbs.

* Denotes recent addition to the academy.

Unfortunately Julio Gutierrez (LW, 56-60, 73-79): requested to be promoted before academy graduation and the team decided not to grant his request. This upset Julio, who decided to leave the academy. We wish him well.

Closure was needed so ...

We wrapped up La Liga after wins against Espanyol and Betis with easy, played the subs in the last 2 games. Took out our frustration from the elimination in semis at the hands of Chelsea by destroying Real in the Copa Del Rey final, 4-0 with a hat trick from Lopez.

World Cup with Argentina was a disappointment. We swept the group beating Switzerland 2-0, Ivory Coast 4-0, and Denmark 5-1, then got a gift in the Round of 16 against Egypt whom we easily handled 3-0. But quarters brought a match against Netherlands that I still haven't forgotten, that damn Orange Machine played us tough and equalized the game very time we went up, 1-1 then 2-2, and in injury time an unfortunate handball in the box lead to a PK by Jurgen Locadia who calmly chipped it down the middle to break our dreams. I quit Argentina after that and went back to coaching Venezuela to see if I can bring them to the next WC after scouting players from there over all these seasons.

The new season has us right back on track for a treble. We just finished December and are in 1st place in La Liga and finished group play with 18 points. We'll face Man City in the Round of 16 who feature a grown *** Yamura who is all kinds of badass now. Somehow we're playing Barca in the Round of 16 of Copa Del Rey but were able to steal a 2-1 on the road and look good to advance there. I was a bit upset about the fact that Turossi, a big pre-contract signing last winter, actually ended up joining Juventus but leaving me on the hook for his wages, but I was able to bring in another young CB whose name escapes me right now who has performed excellent next to Soares-Martins.

Real Madrid 0 - 0 CA Osasuna
Facing Real Madrid is a difficult task already by itself, but having to face them at the Santiago Bernabeu just adds on to the pressure. Osasuna held their own though and established that they are ready to compete at the top of the table. The match was extremely tight with both sides creating chances but this was the goalkeepers' match. Jose Antonio Rodriguez did a wonderful job to keep his clean sheet with brilliant saves, while on the other side Pacheco was given the MOTM award with 10 saves in the match. Iker Casillas was on the bench today and is rumored to be retiring this season, so the Madrid fans will be happy to see that Pacheco is more than capable of fulfilling the role left by Casillas.


CA Osasuna (B-Team) 4 - 1 Real Zaragoza
OSA: Martinez 26' Olavide 44' Martinez 65' Kodro 90'
ZAR: Romero 42'
The B-Team made their first appearance of the season and they blew El Sadar away with an outstanding performance against the recently promoted Real Zaragoza. Youth graduate Luis Martinez started the scoring after Miguel Olavide sent him a great through pass from midfield that allowed Martinez to step inside the box. Martinez took a quick look at goal and then put in a powerful shot that the goalkeeper wasn't able to react in time for.


Osasuna held their lead well and also controlled the ball in midfield, but a mistake from Xavier Quinti on the left side of the field would cost them a goal. Quinti engaged his marker in a one on one and was defeated by his marker's dribbling skills. The Zaragoza winger dribbled towards the side of the box and then put a perfect ground cross into the box headed straight for Romero's position. None of the defenders were able to intercept and Romero calmly tapped the ball into the net with Riesgo having no chance at saving it. Osasuna reacted just two minutes later though, with Mario Santana drifting wide to the left wing and then passing the ball to Miguel Olavide who had just made a run into the box. Olavide controlled the ball and kept his cool when the keeper came off his line. He looked up and then curved the ball around the goalkeeper with his inside foot.


Osasuna were back in the lead and they were applauded by their fans as they went to the dressing rooms for the halftime break. Twenty minutes into the second half they struck again, with Mario Santana setting up the play once more. Santana received the ball at the edge of the box and shielded it to wait for a teammate. Martinez was the first to appear and he passed the ball to him. Martinez controlled the ball and then took a shot on goal in his second touch that went directly at the keeper, but the ball went in between his legs and into the net! Zaragoza's keeper couldn't believe he had just let in a goal like that and Osasuna were 3-1 up! A wonderful play from Osasuna's canteranos.


A few minutes later Chavez subbed off Luis Martinez to give Kenan Kodro some game time. With Kodro coming in to the match the formation was changed from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 with Santana and Kodro playing up front together. Zaragoza went all out attack trying to at least lessen the goal difference but by doing this they left their back line vulnerable. Osasuna's strike partnership took advantage of this in the final minute of the match with Santana and Kodro starting a 2 on 1 counterattack. Santana dribbled into the box and then sent a low cross to Kodro on the other side of the box. Kodro was able to head the ball with ease and beat the keeper inside his own box to make it 4-1 for Osasuna. A dominant display of football from the B-Team, but many will argue that Zaragoza is a candidate for relegation this season so it's not much of an achievement.


Champions League - Group Stage
CA Osasuna 4 - 0 AC Milan
OSA: Torres PEN 20' Davila 60' Martinez 79' Guillermo 90'
We were expecting a tight, complicated match for Osasuna against such a historic club like Milan, but the defending champions really put their foot down today. The first match of the group stage and Osasuna are already showing that they mean business with Roberto Torres scoring the first goal for Los Rojillos. Guillermo was dribbling at the edge of the box and was about to cross the ball to his teammate when Milan's Nkoulou rushed him and took him down with his body without touching the ball. The referee called the penalty and Torres converted with a well placed shot to the keeper's left.


The scoreline may have you believing otherwise, but Milan was actually very solid at the back. Their defense was never off guard or disorganized, and even though Osasuna controlled the middle their fullbacks had Romeu and Davila in their pockets. That is at least until the 60th minute, where Ulises Davila received a pass from Guillermo on the right wing and from there he created the play himself. Davila used his dribbling skills to beat his marker and cut inside the box, where he then took a powerful low shot that beat the keeper's reflexes and went into the bottom corner of the goal!


Not long after the goal, Chavez brought in Luis Martinez to replace Jose Campaña on the field and the youth graduate extended his goal scoring form. Palacios, another second half sub, passed the ball to him as he made a run into the box and without thinking twice about he took a shot on goal with his weak foot. The goalkeeper was caught by surprise and wasn't even able to make an attempt to save it. Osasuna were up 3-0!


The fans were already more than happy with the scoreline, but it's not a party without Guillermo getting on the scoresheet and the Basque striker netted his first Champions League goal of the season after receiving a pass from Luis Martinez and then placing a shot almost exactly where Martinez had placed his. The goalkeeper was left standing once again and Osasuna put the cherry on top with the 4-0. Chavez couldn't have had a better start to the Champions League.


Sevilla FC 0 - 1 CA Osasuna
OSA: Romeu 90'
An incredibly tight match with Osasuna grabbing a late winner right before the final whistle when both teams had already scratched their game plans and were just going all out for the win. Both teams were really struggling to get ahead in a match that was played like if it was a final by both managers. The first half ended with only 1 shot on goal from each side which shows how tight it was. Neither team changed their playing style until the final ten minutes when both managers decided to go all out attack and instructed one of their CBs to play as a ST. It was understandable to see Sevilla do this, since they were the home team, but Osasuna didn't care and instead of marking up at the back they decided to do the same and also go all out attack. Sevilla had pushed up in high numbers leaving only one player behind at the midfield line. They were completely outnumbering Osasuna and we thought they would surely score, but after they crossed the ball into the box Osasuna's second half sub Maikel Mesa jumped up and headed the ball away. His header sent the ball up the pitch where Guillermo picked it up with no marker, and the counterattack was on! Guillermo (ST), Miquel (LCB), Palacios (RW), and Romeu (LW) all sprinted up the pitch against Sevilla's sole defender. Guillermo passed the ball over to Palacios, who had the freshest legs, but Palacios was unable to control the ball as well as he had hoped. He was forced to pass the ball over to Miquel by the defender, and Miquel wasn't able to get very far before the defender got him as well. He sent the ball to Romeu on the other side of the field and now Romeu was one on one with Akinfeev! Romeu couldn't miss, this was his chance to step up with the senior team, and he didn't disappoint as he curved the ball around Akinfeev and into the net!


Chavez rushed to tell Miquel to get back on defense, but before Miquel could get back Sevilla were already making one last attempt to equalize. They caught the backline off guard and were close to equalizing but Rodriguez was there to keep the lead intact with an amazing double save! Thanks to Rodriguez, Osasuna returned to Pamplona with the three points.


CA Osasuna 0 - 0 Real Betis
Not many shots, but a tight tactical battle between Chavez and Betis' manager Sportsfreak. We were quite surprised to see that Sportsfreak left Dani Pacheco, one of his best players, on the bench for this match. However, it was clearly a tactical adjustment and it paid off as they were able to keep Osasuna at bay. Despite fighting against relegation they weren't sitting back to defend the tie either and actually really put Osasuna's Jose Antonio Rodriguez to work with several shots on goal. Rodriguez would actually be named MOTM with 6 saves throughout the match. Chavez and Sportsfreak were seen shaking hands and conversing on the field after the final whistle.


Levante UD 1 - 3 CA Osasuna (B-Team)

After defeating the recently promoted Real Zaragoza, this was seen as the B-Team's first real test against a team that not only has survived in La Liga but is also a constant complication for Chavez. Levante continued to be a thorn on Chavez's side with just 7 minutes into the match when Sanchez put Levante in the lead with a header. Ten minutes later Osasuna would get back in it with Mario Santana playing Miguel Olavide through on goal and the latter smashing the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.


The first half ended with neither team able to take the lead. Thirteen minutes into the second half the crowd were on their feet as Marcos Alonso beat his marker on the left wing in a one on one and sprinted to the end line. He looked up and crossed the ball into the box and found youth graduate Mario Santana who positioned himself so well he didn't even have to jump for it. Santana stood in the right spot and twisted his body towards goal to put power behind his header. The goalkeeper was unable to react and Santana had just scored the first professional goal of his career!!


Santana was inspired today. An assist and a goal but he wasn't done yet and he would top it off with a brace. Close to the end of the match Federico Palacios, who had been moved to CAM late in the second half, sent a through ball to Santana into the box and the striker put in a powerful shot on goal. The goalkeeper was able to save it, but the ball went up into the air. Santana beat the defenders and goalkeeper to the rebound and put the ball into the open net to complete his brace and secure the victory for Osasuna.

CM - Miguel Olavide (Spain) (71 OVR 22yrs) (+0) (B-Team)
The return of Maikel Mesa and his impressive preseason forced Olavide on his toes, and the Pamplona native has really made an impact with the B-Team this season. Last season he put together one goal and two assists but he's already bested his numbers in just this month alone with two goals and two assists. The homegrown midfielder sent Oier to the reserves last season, and this month he showed why.

Notable Youth Academy Players

Antonio Lopes - LB (Spain) (58-62, 78-84) (+19): Lopes is the first and only LB in the academy and of course the club has high hopes as it is a position that the senior team lacks depth in. The current first team LB is Sisi who is naturally a RM and is reaching his mid thirties. Lopes is only 15 and stands at 5'2" but is described as a Winger, which leads us to believe that he will be an attacking fullback.

Ivan Miranda - LW (Spain) (66-70, 81-87) (+2): The 17 year old has decided that the wing is where he is most comfortable with, and is a candidate for promotion in the future. He is quite short, standing at 5'9", but that isn't a problem since we will need him for speed not necessarily for his aerial ability.

Conclusion
We're in first! It's early in the season but it's still good to see us at the top. I'm impressed with our B-Team as well so I think we're gonna have a great run in the Copa Del Rey once it comes around. As for the Champions League, the group looks competitive but that 4-0 against AC Milan makes me really confident going forward. Basel will surely put up a fight but I think the favorites to advance are Liverpool and ourselves.

I was looking forward to the match against Real Betis because I wanted to see Pacheco, but Sportsfreak decided to hide him from me. [emoji19] I'm still not sure if I will sign him in January though. Ivan has been great at RB, and Romeu has been decent. If Romeu doesn't pick it up I think I will sign Pacheco though. In that case Romeu would most likely be sent to the B-Team since Ivan has been playing really well at RB. The years he spent with the B-Team have definitely helped him improve. And Romeu has actually just hit the 80s even though he doesn't feel like it. I've also got a LW in the academy that I am looking forward to promoting so if I were to sign Pacheco I don't know how long I would use him. So yeah I'm pretty much on the fence about that one. And speaking of our youth academy my 4 star scout hasn't been able to find crap in Spain. I have him looking for technically gifted players and none of the players he's brought me look promising. I might cancel his scouting trip and send him back with the instruction to find "any" type of player.

That's all for this month. Next month we have a couple important matches like Liverpool in the Champions League and Barcelona in the league. Barcelona will be a huge test to see if we have what it takes to win the league this season.

How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

September 2018 - Season 5
FIFA 15 (PS4)

Real Madrid 0 - 0 CA Osasuna
Facing Real Madrid is a difficult task already by itself, but having to face them at the Santiago Bernabeu just adds on to the pressure. Osasuna held their own though and established that they are ready to compete at the top of the table. The match was extremely tight with both sides creating chances but this was the goalkeepers' match. Jose Antonio Rodriguez did a wonderful job to keep his clean sheet with brilliant saves, while on the other side Pacheco was given the MOTM award with 10 saves in the match. Iker Casillas was on the bench today and is rumored to be retiring this season, so the Madrid fans will be happy to see that Pacheco is more than capable of fulfilling the role left by Casillas.


CA Osasuna (B-Team) 4 - 1 Real Zaragoza
OSA: Martinez 26' Olavide 44' Martinez 65' Kodro 90'
ZAR: Romero 42'
The B-Team made their first appearance of the season and they blew El Sadar away with an outstanding performance against the recently promoted Real Zaragoza. Youth graduate Luis Martinez started the scoring after Miguel Olavide sent him a great through pass from midfield that allowed Martinez to step inside the box. Martinez took a quick look at goal and then put in a powerful shot that the goalkeeper wasn't able to react in time for.


Osasuna held their lead well and also controlled the ball in midfield, but a mistake from Xavier Quinti on the left side of the field would cost them a goal. Quinti engaged his marker in a one on one and was defeated by his marker's dribbling skills. The Zaragoza winger dribbled towards the side of the box and then put a perfect ground cross into the box headed straight for Romero's position. None of the defenders were able to intercept and Romero calmly tapped the ball into the net with Riesgo having no chance at saving it. Osasuna reacted just two minutes later though, with Mario Santana drifting wide to the left wing and then passing the ball to Miguel Olavide who had just made a run into the box. Olavide controlled the ball and kept his cool when the keeper came off his line. He looked up and then curved the ball around the goalkeeper with his inside foot.


Osasuna were back in the lead and they were applauded by their fans as they went to the dressing rooms for the halftime break. Twenty minutes into the second half they struck again, with Mario Santana setting up the play once more. Santana received the ball at the edge of the box and shielded it to wait for a teammate. Martinez was the first to appear and he passed the ball to him. Martinez controlled the ball and then took a shot on goal in his second touch that went directly at the keeper, but the ball went in between his legs and into the net! Zaragoza's keeper couldn't believe he had just let in a goal like that and Osasuna were 3-1 up! A wonderful play from Osasuna's canteranos.


A few minutes later Chavez subbed off Luis Martinez to give Kenan Kodro some game time. With Kodro coming in to the match the formation was changed from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 with Santana and Kodro playing up front together. Zaragoza went all out attack trying to at least lessen the goal difference but by doing this they left their back line vulnerable. Osasuna's strike partnership took advantage of this in the final minute of the match with Santana and Kodro starting a 2 on 1 counterattack. Santana dribbled into the box and then sent a low cross to Kodro on the other side of the box. Kodro was able to head the ball with ease and beat the keeper inside his own box to make it 4-1 for Osasuna. A dominant display of football from the B-Team, but many will argue that Zaragoza is a candidate for relegation this season so it's not much of an achievement.


Champions League - Group Stage
CA Osasuna 4 - 0 AC Milan
OSA: Torres PEN 20' Davila 60' Martinez 79' Guillermo 90'
We were expecting a tight, complicated match for Osasuna against such a historic club like Milan, but the defending champions really put their foot down today. The first match of the group stage and Osasuna are already showing that they mean business with Roberto Torres scoring the first goal for Los Rojillos. Guillermo was dribbling at the edge of the box and was about to cross the ball to his teammate when Milan's Nkoulou rushed him and took him down with his body without touching the ball. The referee called the penalty and Torres converted with a well placed shot to the keeper's left.


The scoreline may have you believing otherwise, but Milan was actually very solid at the back. Their defense was never off guard or disorganized, and even though Osasuna controlled the middle their fullbacks had Romeu and Davila in their pockets. That is at least until the 60th minute, where Ulises Davila received a pass from Guillermo on the right wing and from there he created the play himself. Davila used his dribbling skills to beat his marker and cut inside the box, where he then took a powerful low shot that beat the keeper's reflexes and went into the bottom corner of the goal!


Not long after the goal, Chavez brought in Luis Martinez to replace Jose Campaña on the field and the youth graduate extended his goal scoring form. Palacios, another second half sub, passed the ball to him as he made a run into the box and without thinking twice about he took a shot on goal with his weak foot. The goalkeeper was caught by surprise and wasn't even able to make an attempt to save it. Osasuna were up 3-0!


The fans were already more than happy with the scoreline, but it's not a party without Guillermo getting on the scoresheet and the Basque striker netted his first Champions League goal of the season after receiving a pass from Luis Martinez and then placing a shot almost exactly where Martinez had placed his. The goalkeeper was left standing once again and Osasuna put the cherry on top with the 4-0. Chavez couldn't have had a better start to the Champions League.


Sevilla FC 0 - 1 CA Osasuna
OSA: Romeu 90'
An incredibly tight match with Osasuna grabbing a late winner right before the final whistle when both teams had already scratched their game plans and were just going all out for the win. Both teams were really struggling to get ahead in a match that was played like if it was a final by both managers. The first half ended with only 1 shot on goal from each side which shows how tight it was. Neither team changed their playing style until the final ten minutes when both managers decided to go all out attack and instructed one of their CBs to play as a ST. It was understandable to see Sevilla do this, since they were the home team, but Osasuna didn't care and instead of marking up at the back they decided to do the same and also go all out attack. Sevilla had pushed up in high numbers leaving only one player behind at the midfield line. They were completely outnumbering Osasuna and we thought they would surely score, but after they crossed the ball into the box Osasuna's second half sub Maikel Mesa jumped up and headed the ball away. His header sent the ball up the pitch where Guillermo picked it up with no marker, and the counterattack was on! Guillermo (ST), Miquel (LCB), Palacios (RW), and Romeu (LW) all sprinted up the pitch against Sevilla's sole defender. Guillermo passed the ball over to Palacios, who had the freshest legs, but Palacios was unable to control the ball as well as he had hoped. He was forced to pass the ball over to Miquel by the defender, and Miquel wasn't able to get very far before the defender got him as well. He sent the ball to Romeu on the other side of the field and now Romeu was one on one with Akinfeev! Romeu couldn't miss, this was his chance to step up with the senior team, and he didn't disappoint as he curved the ball around Akinfeev and into the net!


Chavez rushed to tell Miquel to get back on defense, but before Miquel could get back Sevilla were already making one last attempt to equalize. They caught the backline off guard and were close to equalizing but Rodriguez was there to keep the lead intact with an amazing double save! Thanks to Rodriguez, Osasuna returned to Pamplona with the three points.


CA Osasuna 0 - 0 Real Betis
Not many shots, but a tight tactical battle between Chavez and Betis' manager Sportsfreak. We were quite surprised to see that Sportsfreak left Dani Pacheco, one of his best players, on the bench for this match. However, it was clearly a tactical adjustment and it paid off as they were able to keep Osasuna at bay. Despite fighting against relegation they weren't sitting back to defend the tie either and actually really put Osasuna's Jose Antonio Rodriguez to work with several shots on goal. Rodriguez would actually be named MOTM with 6 saves throughout the match. Chavez and Sportsfreak were seen shaking hands and conversing on the field after the final whistle.


Levante UD 1 - 3 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
LEV: Sanchez 7'
OSA: Olavide 17' Santana 68' 90'
After defeating the recently promoted Real Zaragoza, this was seen as the B-Team's first real test against a team that not only has survived in La Liga but is also a constant complication for Chavez. Levante continued to be a thorn on Chavez's side with just 7 minutes into the match when Sanchez put Levante in the lead with a header. Ten minutes later Osasuna would get back in it with Mario Santana playing Miguel Olavide through on goal and the latter smashing the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.


The first half ended with neither team able to take the lead. Thirteen minutes into the second half the crowd were on their feet as Marcos Alonso beat his marker on the left wing in a one on one and sprinted to the end line. He looked up and crossed the ball into the box and found youth graduate Mario Santana who positioned himself so well he didn't even have to jump for it. Santana stood in the right spot and twisted his body towards goal to put power behind his header. The goalkeeper was unable to react and Santana had just scored the first professional goal of his career!!


Santana was inspired today. An assist and a goal but he wasn't done yet and he would top it off with a brace. Close to the end of the match Federico Palacios, who had been moved to CAM late in the second half, sent a through ball to Santana into the box and the striker put in a powerful shot on goal. The goalkeeper was able to save it, but the ball went up into the air. Santana beat the defenders and goalkeeper to the rebound and put the ball into the open net to complete his brace and secure the victory for Osasuna.

An absolutely infuriating match. Their equalizing goal was one of the scrappiest goals I've ever seen, my defenders refused to clear the ball multiple times and at the same time Butland was sliding around on the ground all over the area attempting to get a ball that was bouncing! Then they proceed to take the ball just after kickoff and March down the field without my defenders ever getting close to the ball and Sigurdsson finished with a shot that went between Butlands legs from 20 yards out!!!! If you can't tell I'm a LITTLE mad about this game. Oh also Emerson Hyndman pulled his quad and will be out for three weeks.

Q: 17 year old Andreas Helmersen has really burst onto the scene this year with 7 assists in his debut campaign, has this taken you by surprise?
A: Honestly yes it has. I knew the kid had talent but I was prepared to wait another year before giving him his chance in the first team but he has been performing well every game he has played and deserves his spot on the team sheet. Hopefully he can add a couple of goals to his game but he still has a lot of time on his side to further improve.

Q: With 5 goals and an assist Riku Riski was voted this month's player of the month, just how big was his contribution this month?
A: It was huge especially looking at the league table and how close it is at the top, just 6 points in it. He won us 3 points against Aaelsunds with his hat trick as well as hitting the winner against ODD. He will be the first to come out and say that it is a team game though and that's what makes him such an important member of the team, his understand of the importance of working as as team.

Q: Elyounoussi announced himself with a bang scoring 2 on his debut, how big a talent is he?
A: He is going to be a huge talent in years to come, whether that is with us or on a bigger stage. It is my job to ensure that he reaches that potential and if he does we are going to have some player on our hands here. He has it all pace, dribbling and as he demonstrated the finishing, all he has to do is show it consistently.

You can choose a 15-Man Squad. You have a budget of 95 million. When you have chosen your team within the price bracket, choose who will be your starters and who will be your substitutes and post them on here so that I can record them. PLEASE DON’T COPY ANYONE ELSE’S IF THEY POST THEIRS BEFORE YOU!

Substitutes will replace your injured players and if you’re really wanting to get stuck in, you can announce your starting and bench every gameweek and you can take players from your bench and swap them for players in your starting 11.

Arsenal are a good team and may well challenge for the title with a very versatile and skilful squad. Arsenal have lots of squad depth and there is a risk of early substitutions and rotation. Players under risk of losing their places to the likes of Theo Walcott (8.5) and Oxlade-Chamberlain (7.0) are Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Özil and even Olivier Giroud if Theo can prove himself as a striker. Walcott could be a very attractive option if he establishes himself as their first team striker due him being labelled as a midfielder which would mean that he would get more points for each goal he scored. (See points system below for further details on how points are distributed.)

Arsene Wenger has chosen Santi Cazorla to play in the double pivot with Francis Coquelin which sees the two drop in price compared to the attacking four. Cazorla has been given set-piece duties which definitely boosts his potential if Arsenal manage to win a lot of free-kicks and corners. Despite Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerín being named in the starting eleven for the first gameweek, it’s easily possible that they could be replaced by Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Debuchy (or even Calum Chambers) respectively. Per Mertesacker is under threat from Gabriel but will most likely retain his position in the team alongside Laurent Koscielny who despite being an extra 0.5m, is a more ‘nailed on’ option and has a higher attacking threat from corners.

Alexis Sánchez demands us to dig in our pockets a little deeper due to having surety of starts. He’s also extremely versatile so he could be playing as the ‘No. 10’ and then move to the wings or even act as a striker. Mesut Özil looks to be a nice choice but if you can fork out the extra 0.5m, then Sánchez is a very tempting offer.

Olivier Giroud has been entrusted with spot-kicks so expect a few points to be coming from penalties by the French international striker.

Not much is expected of the Aston Villa defence which is why they are all so low in price. New signing, Micah Richards has requested a trial as a centre-back instead of his usual position at right-back. Tim Sherwood has acted appropriately and Richards provides a tempting prospect as a defender who could nab one or two goals from well-delivered set-pieces.

Another new signing, Idrissa Gueye, looks like a great, cheap option as a CDM who is likely to provide some attacking runs and assists.

Charles N’Zogbia has been handed corner and free-kick duties which is probably why he is 0.5m more than his partner, Jack Grealish. Jack looks like a promising fifth midfielder who could warm your bench and then provide when called to action. The youngster is also a right-footed player, he’s playing in a slightly more advanced role and is pushed up slightly further than Westwood and Gueye which means that he should get some assists.

Gabriel Agbonlahor will be classed as a forward. Despite playing on the left, he will definitely be utilised as a striker from time to time.

With the departure of Christian Benteke to Liverpool, Libor Kozák provides a budget-friendly option as the lone striker and will be on penalty duties. He hasn’t been able to prove his worth at Aston Villa in the past, so he is still unproven at such a high level of football which is why his price is the lowest of any other forward but the target man may well surprise us when the season gets under way.

Bournemouth have the friendliest starting fixtures in the league with Aston Villa (H), Leicester City (H) Norwich (A) and Sunderland (H) in their opening six fixtures with only Liverpool away and West Ham away as the remainder. This means that Bournemouth, despite being a newly promoted team, look very promising to get some points from the very start.

Sylvian Distin looks like the sensible pick for anyone who doesn’t want to take a risk but don’t expect many points except for his minutes and if he gets a clean sheet or not. New signing, Tyrone Mings provides some 6’3” spice at left-back and could bag himself an assist or two when moving forward.

Wingers, Marc Pugh and Matt Ritchie look decent picks with the former on free-kick duty and the latter on corners. Christian Atsu looks like a steal at 6m as he plays in the hole behind the two strikers. Atsu is expected to get as many goals as assists and expect quite a lot of them too.

Calum Wilson looks like the best pick up front due to being on spot-kick duties but Joshua King provides the flair up front to dazzle defenders which makes him also a good third striker for your fantasy football squad.

The Chelsea defence comes in at 6m each, with Ivanovic being the exception by being 0.5m more due to his attacking mindset. Chelsea are expected to get quite a few clean sheets this season and it’s considered a ‘must have’ to have at least one of them in your team.

Last year’s champions look to be the most threatening on the attack. With Eden Hazard providing a spectacular display last season, his price has risen to a steep 9.5m which could be worth the risk if he picks up from where he left off last season. Eden has also been handed spot-kick and free-kick duties which increases his prospects even more.

A very sensible option would be to go for Cesc Fàbregas. He provided a massive nineteen assists last season, coupled with three goals which made him the fifth highest scorer of last season (Hazard being first). Fàb will also be taking all corners which will surely contribute to his assists this season.

Diego Costa might be subject to rotation with Radamel Falcao (7.0).

Crystal Palace’s opening fixtures look like the toughest, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham in their first six games.

Pape Souare seems like he might get a few points from assists which is why he is 0.5m higher than the rest of the Glaziers’s defence. Coming in a 6’6”, Brede Hangeland might well get one or two goals from set-pieces with his aerial prowess.

Alan Pardew’s newest signing, Yohan Cabaye looks to be taking all the free-kicks and penalties that the team is given which could really increase his point output and shine above the rest of the mid-priced midfielders if given the chance.

Yannick Bolasie will play as the number ten in the opening gameweek to see if he can dish out the points like he was doing last season. Yannick is definitely one to watch.

Alan Pardew is yet to buy a new striker which leaves Glen Murray to be a suitable choice short-term if you feel that Crystal Palace will score a lot.

CHRISTIAN FUCHS WILL BE LISTED AS A DEFENDER which means that he could easily bag a hefty amount of points throughout the season. Fuchs’s lure becomes even greater when coupled with his amazing free-kick stats. This has handed him free-kick rights and he will also take corners.

Esteban Cambiasso looks like a nice 5m option for a player who’s bound to get some points for his constant tackles but also due to being handed the penalty-taking badge.

The budget-friendly option in the squad is Andy King. He has the potential for many assists due to the sheer number of players around him which makes him a one to watch for sure.

Jamie Vardy finished last season with a bang and comes in at 0.5m more expensive than new signing, Shinji Okazaki who’s place in the team is very performance-based and he may well be switched for Leonardo Ulloa (6.0) later in the season.

Roberto Firmino looks like a nice differential if he settles in quickly with his new club but his partner; Phillipe Coutinho will retain his corner-taking duties and looks like a nice pick for 7.5m.

Christian Benteke’s role is performance-based, with Daniel Sturridge (9.0) waiting to take his position in the squad if the former Aston Villa striker fails to perform.

Manchester City look set to be keeping the goals at the opposition’s end with a great backline which can defend but also provide an extra man while attacking. Zabaleta and Clichy might be known to push up the field more but Vincent Kompany shouldn’t be overlooked as he can pull out top class tackles to raise his point tally even higher.

Fernandinho is cheaper than his partners by 1m. This is due to his more defensive mindset and is unlikely to provide something magical in the final third; he will also be subject to rotation with newest signing, Fabien Delph. Excluding Fernandinho though, Yaya Touré, Nasri and newest signing, Raheem Sterling all provide attacking prowess from all angles. Yaya will take free-kicks which will surely make you consider him but Sterling looks hard to ignore on the right due to his assist potential. Further up, David Silva will act as major playmaker and will probably chip in with a few goals himself. Silva has proven that he’s consistent and will probably retain his position for the entire season which just guarantees points.


Sergio Agüero comes in as the most expensive player. Why? Because his ability to score from nothing is phenomenal and with all the quality around him, he’s likely to score at any chance he gets. If you don’t believe me, he managed to score twenty-six times and provided ten assists last season.

Manchester United have been busy in the transfer window and probably have more signings to go but new additions include; Matteo Darmian, Bastien Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and twenty year-old Memphis Depay. Memphis looks to be the most worthy of our money, with an attacking mindset, ability to play as a striker and amazing free-kick ability, he looks set to be a nice point-boost if you add him in your team.

Close to relegation last season, the Newcastle defence is generally a mixed bag. Massadio Haïdara looks like a cheap bench warmer for a fantasy manager but he could surprise with some attacking input. Daryl Janmaat provides more of an attacking mindset and has proven himself to get a few assists on his way forward but for the 5m price tag, most managers will probably overlook him.

The front four all gain a hefty-ish price tag due to their potential to provide some points. New signing, Georginio Wijnaldum looks promising with going forward and also his passing accuracy. Siem de Jong’s position will be under close analysis as Wijnaldum might be centred which would allow Moussa Sissoko (6.5) a place in the team.

Norwich City

No one is quite sure how Norwich will react this season now they’re in the Premier League but their defence provides many cheap options that might do quite well but it seems unlikely at the moment.

Wes Hoolahan will play at CAM in the attacking four-three-three which will provide him with lots of options. Nathan Redmond and Elliott Bennett will share corner duties as the former will take free-kicks which will boost both of their potentials. Redmond was particularly fond of cutting in on his stronger foot which will gain us some points if he can convert his efforts on goal.

Cameron Jerome and Ricky van Wolfswinkel (5.5) will battle it out to be Norwich’s first-choice striker. Jerome is given the benefit of the doubt in gameweek one but he’s never really proven himself in the Premier League despite having plenty of experience there.

Southampton

Maya Yoshida will most likely be replaced whilst the transfer window is still open which is why he is so cheap. Ryan Bertrand will provide some attack mindedness but new signing, Cédric Soares looks to have even more attacking prowess down at right-back and with the nice price, could be an absolute bargain.

Newest signing, Jordy Clasie will be the pick of the bunch if he can get used to his new surroundings. Expected to turn the ball in the net one or two times and expected to bag himself a handful of assists, he could be the differential you’re looking for.

Despite being the most expensive in the midfield, Duŝan Tadić could be providing as many points as the heavy-hitters if he can pick up some form. He’s also expected to take all set-pieces so he’s pretty much guaranteed points-wise, especially with the players around him.

Graziano Pellé might be expensive but he is certainly worth the cash. This will be his second season at the club and he’ll want to get off to a good start and pick up from where he left last season.

Stoke City

With Asmir Begovic at Chelsea, the number 1 shirt will be handed to Jack Butland for him to prove himself. New signing, Shay Given will step in at any opportunity necessary but Butland looks like a nice, cheap option in the Stoke defence.

Bojan will play on the right at the start of the season and will offer lots of flair which usually wins points; if you’re looking for a Stoke attacker, he could be your man because he will occasionally play at CAM or even as the lead striker if need be but with recent signing of Joselu and Peter Crouch as backup for the striker position, he’ll probably stay on the right. With Marko Arnautović on corners, he could be a nifty overlooked player for your arsenal if you are prepared to pay the same amount for him as you are Bojan. Charlie Adam will take free-kicks and with his spectacular goals last season, he’ll surely be looked at once again.

Mame Diouf will play in the first game against Liverpool but he will most likely have to come off sooner or later for either Joselu or Peter Crouch. Diouf does look promising with goal threat and penalty taking under his belt and would most probably provide more points than his competitors.

Sunderland

New signing, Jeremain Lens and fellow winger, Adam Johnson look to get the most points going forward with the latter on free-kick duties.

If you’re considering a Sunderland forward, either Connor Wickham or Jermain Defoe should suffice with the former taking penalties but also lying a little deeper.

Lukasz Fabiański scored the most points (for a keeper) in fantasy football last season and he’s available at a bargain price of 5m. Ashley Williams will provide some world-class tackles which should tempt us into considering him. New signing Franck Tabanou will play at left-back and will provide some attacking runs.

Ki Sung Yueng and Jonjo Shelvey are nice CDM picks that do offer something in attack but André Ayew and Nathan Dyer provide more in terms of assists and maybe even goals. Ayew will take the corners whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson will take free-kicks and Bafetimbi Gomis will take penalties.

If you’re considering a Swansea attacker Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis should be the first ones to consider.

Hugo Lloris provides consistency between the sticks at 5.5m and he might have the biggest benefit of the new saves to points rule. Another premium pick is Danny Rose at left-back who looks to provide lots of support from deep and will most likely be one of the highest scoring defenders.

Nabil Bentaleb shapes up as a bargain at only 5m but this shouldn’t deter you from choosing Mousa Dembélé who’s more of a goal threat. Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli will provide some points due to them both cutting in on their stronger foot and Lamela on corners. Christian Eriksen will surely gain the most points in midfield whilst setting up Harry Kane and popping a few goals for himself from free-kicks.

Harry Kane will take penalties and with an amazing season behind him, he will want to get onto the end of anything the midfielders can give him to get the motor running again.

Watford

Miguel Layún, in the wing-back position provides a lot of attacking prowess than his partner at right wing-back which sees him 0.5m more expensive but most probably worth it.

Almen Abdi is said to be more attacking than his partners, Etiennne Capoue and Valon Behrami which is certainly true but there could be surprises.

Good third strikers look to be Matej Vydra and Troy Deeney (who’s on penalties). If one of them underperforms, Odion Ighalo and Fernando Forestieri will be waiting to replace them which makes it a slightly risky decision.

Watford find themselves against Everton, Southampton, Manchester City and Swansea which might be too difficult for them considering they’re a newly promoted team so a Watford player might be cheap, but they are risky.

Scout’s Analysis:

Joleon Lescott performed well under Tony Pulis last season and it’s difficult to wonder why it would be any different this season which makes him a good pick and he has aerial prowess on corners. Craig Gardener is playing out of position at right back and would usually be a central-midfielder which rules him out of any decisions.

Claudio Yacob and Darren Fletcher won’t provide much in attacking terms and should probably be avoided unless necessary. Chris Brunt looks like a better option than Sességnon due to claiming ALL set-pieces which should increase his point output.

Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye both look convincing up front with both coming in at the same price of 6.5m.

New signing, Angelo Ogbonna strolls into the squad with a lot of promise to keep clean sheets which is why a West Ham defence looks like a good option.

West Ham’s clean sheet potential is mixed with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City being the difficult fixtures and Leicester City, Bournemouth and Newcastle being the easier games to start the season off.

Mark Noble looks like the pick of the bunch at only 4.5m. He might not provide much in the final third but he’s been handed the role of penalty taker which makes him very tempting. Matt Jarvis will take the corners whilst Mauro Zárate and new signing, Dimitri Payet share free-kick duties.

Diafra Sakho will start the season with Enner Valencia as backup but Sakho looks like a bargain at just 6.5m.

Nice one! Looking like a nice team. You do have three West Ham players though. I might change the rule to three? Nice differentials with Deeney and Vydra! I hope it works out for you!

Is the 90m too harsh? Is the two players max from one team a little harsh too?

You made a nice team out of it and I realised that Aguero and Hazard and Ivanovic were quite cheap compared to the official game which is why i lowered it.
