Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been that active, but I just got out of school for the summer, so I will have lots of time to play FIFA.

I also went and bought a copy of FIFA 15 yesterday.

I know I'm going to do a career in Italy with Lazio, but I'm having a hard time deciding on Russia. Here are the choices:

Zenit (big club) - 53 million transfer budget
Rubin (decent size club) - 18 million transfer budget
Ufa (small club) - 2 million transfer budget

Let me know what you think.

Also, I'll get caught up and comment on everybody's careers soon.

I had typed up a reply to this post and when I exited it to double check something my app did not save the draft even though I had pressed the button to do so!!! Really pissed me off because it was somewhat long, but I'll try to remember exactly what I had said. Here goes,

Man, and I thought I've had bad months! That was brutal, especially getting knocked out of the cup so early, but losing only by one against Arsenal and Liverpool are still somewhat of an achievement. Which formation will you stick with going forward? I usually struggle with the 4-1-4-1 unless I edit it. If I keep it in the default version I have a really tough time getting the ball forward since the midfield is too flat. I saw you also used a 4-2-3-1, so I was thinking how about a 4-5-1? Personally I would instruct the CM to get forward so that it would be similar to the 4-2-3-1, but since he will be set as a CM and not a CAM he will have more defensive sacrifice and help recover the ball more. You could even try editing the LCM and RCM to become LDM and RDM and that would really make it similar to a 4-2-3-1 except that you would have a CM instead of a CAM. Just a thought, I haven't used either as my main formation myself, but it just came to my mind when I saw you've been struggling a bit. Might I add that I also really admire that you're sticking with legendary. Since you don't have an extreme objective from the board you can keep playing legendary without worrying about getting fired. Plus a relegation battle sounds exciting! We are all usually fighting in at least the upper mid table side, so your career will be different in that aspect. I'm really looking forward to reading more about your fight against relegation! You're actually inspiring me to return to England even more. What I have in mind is I would start a career in the lower leagues (League 1; I already have a team) and if my objective is to gain promotion I would start on World Class. Once I get promoted, if my objective becomes avoid relegation I would move up to legendary. Even if I don't win a single game I'll keep playing legendary with my priority being to avoid relegation. I think the change would be realistic even if I won the title the season before since we often see the champions of a lower division struggle after promotion. Man the temptations! But, I can't quit Osasuna now lol

By the way I'm a big fan of your playmaking CB! Haha Now that's a modern centre back! I see him playing CB in Mexico's 5-3-2 with the instruction to join the attack. The LCB and RCB would stay back, and while the midfield pushes high up the field they pass the ball back to their CB, the Nottingham Forrest youth graduate Camacho, and he dribbles the ball up to midfield looking for an opening to get an attack started. Yeah, I see big things for him. I hope his potential continues to grow and he gets a nice May boost. He would be perfect for that CB role if you switch to a back line of 3!

I hear you. Short goalkeepers can be amazing in real life, there are several examples, but in a game like FIFA a short goalkeeper can mean easy goals during crosses and corners.

I forgot to add, congratulations on making the Europa League group stage!! You sounded a little down about the group standings but I don't recall reading who you're in a group with. What did you get?? Or is it a surprise for the next update? :0

Oh wow, you bulldozed through that month! You scored 11 goals and received only 1! That's amazing! Getafe gave you a tough time but that's only because they came out shooting for the 0-0 draw. Scoring 4 past Malaga and 5 on Sociedad show your attacking power as they have two good goalkeepers. I agree that being in first can be off putting, but I'll tell you that in my career Valencia are always in the top four so it's not entirely unrealistic. Give it a couple months and the table will start to balance out as you face teams like Sevilla, Barca and Madrid.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

@ChicoBass - First off, congrats on making the knockout zone! It seems that the 4-4-2 was good early, but as soon as you got your game going, they had no chance. I like it that you tried 4-3-3, and enjoyed it to an extent! You also did well in the league, so I hope you keep this up. Interesting read as always.

@Jamie - First off, some really good transfers with Balanta, Rüdiger and Atsu standing out. I see that you loaned in Ibe, something that you suggested me to do! Shame about the game against Newcastle, yet a really good start in general. Good luck!

@Keano - It seems that it is tough to play with the big-boys, and I don't blame you. Your next month games don't look any better, so I really hope you can somehow rob a few points from the big teams.

@Simppu - Four wins, great stuff! Can't really say that you don't deserve it, yet it truely is a bit weird to see Valencia there. Maybe one of the big teams will step up soon and show you what they are made of!

@southernmetalhead - I would honestly go with Rubin, since they have a decent budget and a interesting team. However, Ufa would be nice aswell. Making a strawpoll is probably your best option!

I don't know yet myself. I'm only down about it because there isn't much squad depth to be able to compete on Thursdays and weekends. It will go one of two ways, I do well in Europe and awful in the league, or well in the league and awful in Europe. I just want the prize money!

                  65' Benteke (Eriksen)

                  90' Ings (PEN)

                  MOTM: Danny Ings

Number of starting English players: 9

Times like these are what make me love this career mode. I destroyed the Spuds and Ings showed his worth yet again. It looked bad at times, as Chadli and Benteke managed to claw the game back (Chadli with a crisp header, Benteke with a screamer), yet two penalties for us was the perfect thing to let us win this game.

                  FA Cup

                  Burnley 1-1 Huddersfield

                  64' Hogg (Vaughan)

                  MOTM: Henri Lansbury

Number of starting English players: 9

Another penalty gave us a good chance to go to the next round, yet Huddersfield showed their "Barca side" and played straight through our defense, letting Hogg hit the open net. We were going to the next round.

                  Premier League
                  Matchday 21
                  Crystal Palace 1-0 Burnley

                  MOTM: Henri Lansbury

Number of starting English players: 9

The scoreboard was not even gone, yet we had already given the lead away. Chamakh shot was really good, as it went into the bottom corner, out of Heatons reach. For some reason, this was one of those games that we created a ton of chances, yet didn't manage to bag them away.

                  FA Cup
                  Round 1 Replay
                  Huddersfield 2-1 Burnley
                  45' Wells
                  82' Ings
                  115' Miller (PEN)

                  MOTM: Danny Ings

Number of starting English players: 8

Just before half-time, Huddersfield earned a corner. The ball bounced into the box, but as Heaton made a mistake going for it, he deflected it right infront of Wells who put the visiting team up. We still managed to get a bit of luck infront of us, as Ings stole the ball from the defender and tied the game up for us. We still got eliminated in the end, as a unlucky tackle from Keane gave them a penalty, which Miller tucked it away. Another tournament which we performed poorly in.

                  Premier League
                  Matchday 22
                  Queens Park Rangers 1-1 Burnley
                  45' Austin (PEN)
                  64' Lansbury (Ings)

                  MOTM: Dean Marney

Number of starting English players: 9

Another penalty was given against us, yet Lansbury scored probably the goal of the season - a cross given into Ings and hit with a beautiful volley just outside the box. A 1-1 tie wasn't good enough for us, judging by who we were against.

                  Premier League
                  Matchday 23
                  Burnley 1-3 Sunderland
                  7' Defoe (Giaccherini)
                  31' Defoe (Larsson)
                  44' Ings (Lansbury)
                  72' Defoe

                  MOTM: Danny Ings

Number of starting English players: 9

I have no words for this game. We got completely outplayed, and Defoe was just so fantastic. He was keeping the defenders on point the whole time. If I could bring in one player - it would be Defoe.

                  League Table

                  My Thoughts

STILL better than the real Burnley - Not a great month, I mean, atleast we beat Spurs, which is nice, yet we dropped points against teams that we should play well against.

Obita and Ledson - Pretty simple. I brought in youth talent to impact us, and with Boyd leaving the team, Obita will get starting minutes instantly.

Bosman signings - This is quite something to be interested about. Milner and Barton will be instant starters next season and the other three will be great rotation players for us.

Next month - The next month will have games against West Brom, ManU, Liverpool and Swansea.

I hope you enjoyed this post, please, if you have any feedback, do let me know!

Firstly, just results because I wanted to get it out quickly so as to not leave Cruzerr and Regens waiting. Of course, I had to cover the Dortmund game. We remain unbeaten this season and I'm not sure how! The squad is Europa League quality but we are playing great. We are defending well and scraping our victories by 2 goals maximum. That gives me transfer priority for January, followed by Regens and then Cruzerr. Let's go!

                      Bosman Signing for Gladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach have announced that Frankfurt defender and Peru international Carlos Zambrano will join the club at the start of next season. He is thought to be second choice behind the Bosman signing of Sami Khedira but Manchester City beat the Bundesliga leaders to the punch with the prospect of a higher wage.

Andre Hahn joins Arsenal for €7.5 million after signing in the summer. However he fell out of favour with new manager Jamie Cee and has not played a match for them.

                      Marquee Signing

20 year old Netherlands international Memphis Depay has signed for Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee of €13 million + Ibrahima Traore. The youngster is meant to be the next big thing and will definitely be worth the money. Some would call the deal an absolute bargain.

                      Kramer 23
                      Leitner 28
                      Martins 51
                      Gabbiadini 63

An end to end game in which Kramer gave us the lead with a low effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Leitner equalised with a powerful shot into the top corner and Martins gave them the lead with a good header. Gabbiadini equalised when he raced into the box and chipped Ulreich delightfully.

It's been quite a while since I've played my Accrington Career Mode. I just remembered that I signed Cristiano Ronaldo for free with a pre-contract sign. But he came in January, right after signing the contract, weird but awesome. After that I tried to get Messi and realize it's impossible. I offered hm 500 thousands for wages but he just didnt accept.

I played a lot more career modes, always with in a different league. Won BPL, BBVA, Bundesliga and now I'm finishing my first season with Monaco. All in the Legendary difficult setting. I need some RBs and LBs, but I used many of then already in the others careers and I dont like beein repetitive. So I'm hearing suggestions, also for CBs.

                            My current squad is:
                            GK Ospina
                            RB Fabinho
                            CB Isimat-Mirin
                            CB Abdennour
                            LB Kurzawa
                            CDM Toulalan
                            CDM João Moutinho
                            RM A. Traoré
                            CAM Nasri
                            LM Germain
                            ST Lewandowski

Also have: Romero, Ricardo Carvalho, Bellerin, Kondogbia, Vilhena, Robinho, Berbatov and Martial.

Well thanks for typing it all out again!

Thanks for the formation ideas. They should really help and I'll definitely give them both a go. Can't get any worse can it? lol. Yeah, sticking with Legendary will make it a different experience to just getting promoted and finishing in the top half of the table. It'll be a lot more realistic if I am struggling to stay up and out of the relegation zone, especially with the squad I have. I actually said I would finish mid table when I requested more funds so lets hope I don't get fired.

I like your idea of moving the difficulty up once you get promoted. That will definitely add a layer of realism seeing as many newly promoted teams do struggle as it really is a level up.

Haha modern CB is right! That 3-5-2/5-3-2 is definitely an idea for the future. Ideally he would come out with a secondary position of CDM/CM although knowing EA he'll have CAM or something lol. Which reminds me, I have a ST at Wycombe that has CB as his secondary position! Crazy.

Very tough indeed and yep I am praying for a point or two against the big teams. *Crosses fingers*

I voted for Rubin as they are in between the two other options and still have a good budget to use. Looking forward to reading about it if it is picked.

Nice two young transfers and you shifted on a couple older fellas for good prices. I love your Bosman signings! As you said Milner and Barton should slot in right away and the other three are good depth options. Nice work! Great, and dramatic win against Spurs but it seems like you struggled against Huddersfield in the two games. QPR must have been frustrating not being able to pick up a win when you needed one, much like I felt against Norwich. Sunderland was also tough to see, but they do have that quality striker in Defoe up top to get them past teams like yours. Thanks to your great start you are still in a very good position and should be safe if you keep picking up a few points each month.

A lot of tight 1-0 wins before that game against Hertha. Kruse and Gabbiadini look like your go-to and danger men banging in the goals. Depay is a very good signing and should make an instant impact.
