A few more players in your team performed this week and got you a nice rise in points. Because you didn’t use a transfer last week, you can make two free transfers this week so I’d suggest that Jordy Clasie and Bojan should go. Potential replacements could be James McCarthy (5.5) for Jordy Clasie (5.5) or maybe even replace him for Francis Coquelin (5.0) and then upgrade Bojan (7.0) to Ross Barkley (7.5) or maybe Adam Lallana (7.5) / Coutinho (7.5). You could replace Clasie for Andy King (5.5) who’s been doing really well with Leicester by providing a goal and an assist. If you prefer to just change Bojan, I’d suggest Siem de Jong (7.0) who has scored three times in two games. It’s all your choice though but make sure to ask if you have some questions to ask.

Not too bad of a week. Your team’s pretty solid but the player I want to alert you about is Cameron Jerome (6.0). He’s been quite poor in the games I’ve watched him in and he is very likely to get swapped for Ricky van Wolfswinkel (6.0). If you wanted to do a straight swap for Jerome, you could get Shinji Okazaki (6.0) who scored twice against West Ham. If you wanted to take a risk that could well pay off, you could get Crystal Palace’s new striker, Patrick Bamford (6.0) but this is a big risk.

If you don’t want to scrape the barrel for a striker, you could replace either Winston Reid (5.0) or Ryan Bertrand (5.5) for a Leicester defender like Marcin Wasilewski (4.5) who has two Man of the Matches and two clean sheets under his belt already. This would leave you either 1.0m or 0.5m to look for another striker like Newcastle’s new signing Aleksandar Mitrovic (7.0) who might be a risk but it will certainly pay off if he gets in and around the goal. You could even swap Jerome for Callum Wilson (5.5) and then you have 0.5m to use anywhere else in your team... Just ask if you have any questions.

It’s only been two weeks but your team has been the best all-round. I’d look at replacing Diouf (7.5) or Rooney (9.0). These leave you with a lot of replacements to choose from. I’d suggest Romelu Lukaku (8.5) for Rooney and then Diouf for maybe Harry Kane (8.0) or Bafétimbi Gomis (8.0) but Éder’s (7.0) presence is threatening Gomis’s starting spot. Diego Costa (9.0) could also replace Rooney.

Maybe a simple switch from Depay (8.5) to Juan Mata (8.0) would do the trick and leave you 0.5m in the bank. You could also look at Roberto Frimino (8.0), Christian Eriksen (8.0) or even Ross Barkley (7.5) to replace Depay. If you have no problems with Depay, you could always transfer Olivier Giroud (8.5) if you wanted to due to his low scores. I’d suggest a swap from Giroud to Romelu Lukaku (8.5) or Christian Benteke (8.5). Just ask if you have any questions but you’ve been doing great so far!

Looks like you offloaded most the players that you wanted too which is good. Elm is a massive signing! Those passing and free kick stats...wow, great pickup. Mathews looks to be a solid signing for RB and he has a lot of room to get even better. He also signed for Sunderland IRL which, I'm guessing might have brought him to your attention. You also brought in your boy MS! I hope he can replicate what he did for you at Wednesday at Sunderland. Damn the Wickham situation sucks. He's the kind of player with bags of potential that you can build a team around. At least you have 2 years to try and convince him to stay. And lastly, incredibly well written pieces again. League Table

Some of my thoughts

Dips and trips - Obviously, some of the results did not go our way, yet our spot currently is looking good. February is going to be tough, against Arsenal, Tottenham, Swansea and Newcastle.

Manchester United - I honestly hope we don't face them again. Losing 3 games out of 4 was tough, as all of the games were. They are just a really well built team in FIFA, no wonder we lost the three games. However, we won the forth one, which means...

CAPITAL ONE CUP FINAL BABY! - Yes, it is just like that. COC final will be played also in February against Newcastle, so I guess we will see how that will play out.

Morgan Schneiderlin - Just saddens me that he didn't get to play in any of the games against us, sadly. Just sitting on the bench for 25 mil.

Andrew Robertson - The new man got signed on the last day of transfers, so I haven't actually tried him out. However, he looked good in the two games we played against Hull, so hopefully he can turn into a big player for us.

Elia, Pelle, Mane, Duricic - So, what actually happened?

Basically, with Elia and Mane, I put more faith into them, and they have played well. Mane was always going to stay, but Elia has looked good, so I don't want to get rid of him.

Pelle just hasn't worked out, so I had to get rid of him to get Robertson in. We are still quite strong at the striker position, with Long/Rodriguez/Mane/Mayuka willing to play there.

I couldn't actually sell Duricic, so I don't know what will happen to him, whether he will stay or not.

Also, Keano, who has been my best player? - At the moment, I will go with Tadic, just because he has been the middle man to link everything up. Bolasie, Long, Maksimovic, Bertrand, Forster and Fonte (in no order) also get a good shout there.

I've done all of your switches and now I'm going to start the next gameweek. I cannot guarantee that your changes will get you many points and I cannot guarantee that the people you transferred out will continue to have bad weeks but I am sorry if my suggestions don't work.

Q: You put up a good fight in the champions league, only just missing out on 2nd spot, are you looking forward to the europa league now?
A: We were extremely unlucky not to be in the draw for the next round of the champions league. We should have beat Chelsea in both games and should have taken 3 points against Zenit but their are fine margains in games against such strong opposition. In terms of the europa league we are very excited. We will be looking to go as far as possible and will take the competition very seriously. We have a tough draw against Roma in the Round of 32 but we are confident in our ability.

Q: Are their any players you are looking to sign in January?
A: I can confirm that we are close to announcing the singing of Vegard Forren who is currently a free agent after leaving Molde and will be looking at one or two others as well.

Q: Are you planning on selling any players?
A: I am looking to loan out some of the players who are not in my 25 man squad buy apart from that I have no plans to sell anyone but as you know in football anything can happen. We are expecting big bids for Helmersen and Hoff again but it would have to be stupid amounts of money to even tempt us to part ways with the players.

Always go with the midfield maestro. It's Pack for me. You can always find another goalscorer, you can't always get that catalyst in midfield.

Stoke are a top 4 side in this game, short of 1-2 signings. Palace are upper mid-table, and Leicester have some good foundations but need a lot of work, so I picked them as you'd have more to do.

Finished up my first few games with the new team. I'm sticking with 4-3-2-1 with counter-attacking tactics. Costel Pantilimon stays in goal with Adam Matthews, John Stones, John O'Shea and Patrick Van Aanholt in front of him in defence. In midfield we've got three complete players in Rasmus Elm, Jack Rodwell and Oupa Manyisa. Up top we stick with Duncan Watmore and Adam Johnson flanking Jermain Defoe. On the bench we have Vito Mannone (GK), Billy Jones (DEF), Valentin Roberge (DEF), Liam Bridcutt (MID), Gary Mackay-Steven (MID), Danny Ings (FWD) and Connor Wickham (FWD).

Our first game up, we faced Everton at home, and I gave Ings a full debut despite his poor performances in preseason because he asked very politely and passionately, so Adam Johnson vacated the RF spot for the bench. In less than six minutes, Defoe headed in Elm's cross for the first. We kept our shape, defended well and got forward whenever we could. But Everton had made up for losing John Stones by signing Jonny Evans from United, and we were kept out for the most part. In the second half, we tempted Everton into our half before hitting them hard and fast on the break. Ings picked up three goals in 18 minutes, scoring a hat-trick in his first competitive match for us. Final score: 4-0.

Zulte-Waregem at home in the first leg Europa League qualifier was next, a match we won 2-1 thanks to goals from Ings and Elm. We played superbly well, and in the second leg, we had a very dramatic conclusion. Waregem went 2-0 up in the first half when Glynor Plet scored a late brace, but we shot back with two of our own through Mackay-Steven and Ings. This put us ahead 4-3 on aggregate, and we held on to guarantee our place in the group stage. We're in group B with Sporting CP from Portugal, Brondby from Denmark and Dutch side Twente, who I always seem to draw in the Europa League.

In between those matches, we faced Stoke. I played a new midfield three of Elm-Bridcutt-Rodwell because Stoke are a great side, especially at their own ground. It backfired. We didn't have enough creativity going forward and got frustrated, losing 1-0 to a Bojan free kick that was scored right as Stones was given a straight red for a professional foul on the little Spaniard. That rules him out of our next three domestic fixtures, though he did play well in the second leg of our Europa League tie.

Twenty-four hours before deadline day, we hosted Derby County, who had been promoted last season after topping the Championship. Roberge came in for the suspended Stones, and Jones was named at right back ahead of Matthews. We started on a bad note but found our feet quickly, scoring three times in 37 minutes through Defoe (2) and Watmore. The latter was especially vibrant, garnering a rating of 8.9 and being named man of the match for his goal and two assists. It was good to see him hit top gear after a poor few games, especially since he'd had a tidy preseason. Ryan Shotton, who was one of our secondary targets this summer, picked up a late consolation for Derby, who have been welcomed to the Premier League with three straight defeats.

We rejected deadline day bids for Wickham from a number of clubs including Swansea, Feyenoord and Lyon. The player is unhappy with his wages, but we won't be selling now. January is when we can extract maximum benefit, and that's when he'll go, but he is going. We also were willing to consider offers for Johnson, but none were forthcoming. I don't think he's suited to play in this formation with our current tactics. If we went for a different approach based on possession and short passing, he might do well in one of the forward roles or as an attacking midfielder. But right now I don't see him at the club past next summer, which is a shame because he's a local lad.

We did bring in two new faces on deadline day, though. Carlos Blanco, a 19-year-old Spanish centre half who'd just been promoted to the first team and showing incredible promise, joined us on a season loan with the option to buy him next summer for £5 million. Juventus wanted around £7.5 million for him outright, but we managed to bring him in on a deal that suited us better. He's got 77 marking, 77 interceptions and 75 stand tackle at such a young age, so I think we could be looking at John O'Shea's replacement for when he retires. We also signed the 6'5" left back Tyrone Mings from Ipswich Town for £2.6 million, and he can cover at centre back as well.

We will need the extra manpower for the season, because if we go far in the Europa League and have a decent cup run, we could be looking at nearly 60 games in all competitions. There will be times this season where I'll need to fully rest players for at least two weeks to freshen them up, so it's good that I have reliable squad depth to count on. We might make one or two loan deals in January if we need additional players due to fatigue or injury.

One of the permanent signings I'm looking to complete then is that of 17-year-old English right back Joel O'Nien, who's a 71-rated free agent. He could be the future of our team in that position, as I'm not entirely sure either Jones or Matthews will be able to hit top level. I also need to start considering Defoe's future. He's 33 in October and is starting to lose his physical stats, and while I think he'll see this season through, he doesn't have too much technical ability to get by on without his athleticism. It's likely that I'll sell next summer, especially if his stock is high after scoring 20 or 25 goals this season.

In September we have league matches against Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa, as well as our first Europa League group-stage fixture against Brondby. Stones is still suspended against United and Arsenal, which isn't the best news, but I want to be realistic and keep him out even though the game will let me play him. Roberge did well against Derby, but I'm not sure he can handle the firepower of Wayne Rooney and Edin Dzeko. Villa have started well with a 100% record in the first 3 games, so we have our work cut out for us this month.

Club Awards

2015-16 Young Player of the Year: Bradford Jamieson IV

The award for the best player under the age of 23 goes to Bradford Jamieson IV. The 19 year old forward joined the club just this season, and he has made an immediate impact. Not much time was required for the American to adjust, and 25 goals later he proved that he can hang in England. His 6 assists on top of that proved how dynamic of a player he is. With the move up to the Championship next season, it will be interesting to see if he can replicate the results.

2015-16 OS Community Player of the Year: Marlon Pack

Marlon Pack is your Portsmouth player of the year as voted by the OS Community. The man in the middle pulling all of the strings. Marlon Pack finished the season leading the club in assists, and finishing second behind Jamieson for the leading scorer. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time, and was the driving force behind most of the success this season that saw only 2 losses for the club in league play.

Portsmouth Announces it is now debt free

After paying off the final portion of the £7,000,000 debt that was left over when Berhalter took charge, Portsmouth is now completely debt free for the first time since entering administration. This will lift the restrictions in the transfer market and allow the manager to begin building a squad he sees fit as they now aim for a spot in the Premier League within the next couple of seasons.
