    - Tex: Why do I care that that Nigel Clough was fired? I don't get it.

    - Indi: Congrats on a very successful 1st season at Newcastle. I'm excited for you in CL competition next season. That announcement of a massive overhaul though

    - Moose: Nice win to end the home season. Looking forward to you jumping into European competition next season. I didn't see Rondon on WBA's roster, did they move him or something?

    - Keano: Love the Kaiserslautern CM mainly because I actually remember when they were relevant at the end of the millennium so it'd be fun to watch you bring them back to that. I see you're off to a great start so keep your foot on the gas!

    - SMH: Nice undefeated November (no shame in drawing against Zenit). I see that even though you're in 7th place you're only 3 points from 3rd place so good luck in December. Will you be looking to land some goal-scorers in the winter transfer window?

Thanks vrabbit! Me too, that was ultimately the goal was to just finish in a European place somewhere so that we can try and progress and compete on multiple fronts. As for Rondon, I don't remember them selling him in January (didn't have the summer window on) so I think that he must have just been injured, which was huge for us because he scored the first time we played them if I remember correctly!

Thanks! I didn't know that they were up there in the 2000's, I picked them because I liked the look of the team. Imma have to look them up now! We should be able to keep the momentum going until the end of the season. Here's to hoping for Bundesliga football next year!

                FIFA 16 - Season 1

                The Blades

The board is faced with a tough decision. Do they go with a tired old retread, who may still have something left in the tank, or do they try to find the unknown commodity that can hit big? The problem with the first one is that most managers worth their salt aren't exactly jumping at the chance to come to a third division club that hasn't sniffed the Premier League in more than a decade when the Carlos Tevez drama saved West Ham from relegation and sent Sheffield United packing to the Championship. No matter what, this hire is going to be an important one. The fans are eager for success, and anything short of promotion this year is unacceptable.

A list of candidates has been put together, a certain type of manager being the aim. Someone who knows football, an ex-player. Preferably having spent time at Sheffield United, someone the supporters can get excited about seeing return to the club. Managerial experience is a plus of course. Attack! Attack! Attack! We want to move up with a bang. Having enough firepower will set the club up nicely for success at the next level as well.

                The final three candidates

                Name: Glyn Hodges
Club Career: Midfielder, 623 appearances and 109 goals mostly for Wimbledon and Sheffield United.
International Career: 18 appearances and 2 goals scored for Wales.
Managerial Career: Career assistant at Barnsley, Wales, Blackburn, Manchester City, Leeds United, QPR, and Stoke City. Served two stints as caretaker manager of Barnsley.

                Name: James Beattie
Club Career: Striker, 498 appearances and 142 goals mostly for Southampton, Sheffield United, and Everton.
International Career: 5 appearances for England with no goals scored.
Managerial Career: Served almost two years as manager for Accrington Stanley, is currently set to join ex-teammate Gary Monk's staff at Swansea City.

                Name: Dean Saunders
Club Career: Striker, 618 appearances and 190 goals scored mostly for Aston Villa, Derby, and a short stint at Sheffield United.
International Career: 75 appearances for Wales with 22 goals scored.
Managerial Career: Has served as manager of Wrexham, Doncaster Rovers, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crawley Town, and Chesterfield.

A decision is expected to be made soon on who the right man for the job is. The board has themselves locked away as the debate rages on. They are expected to emerge with an offer in hand and things will move quickly from there.

I had considered opening it up to a poll, but I had kind of made up my mind on one so I ended up starting it already to start getting things ready.

Just out of curiosity, why Beattie?

you seem to want an attack-minded guy and he fits the bill as a former striker and has a solid history at the club from what I saw

Cheers, mate. Can't wait to see what you get up to on your side. Oh, and if I may suggest, play the narrow 4-1-2-1-2 with your wingers playing as central midfielders. The positioning on defence is superior, and you can count on those same players to make wide/narrow runs based on the instructions you set for them. As for the overhaul, I'm having second thoughts. Bringing in several new players, even if I sell my superstars Cabella and Wijnaldum, would bring down overall quality. I may just spring for 3-5 new face but all top of the line. Not sure yet. Maybe even a hybrid of the two.

Very interesting choice for a career. I look forward to seeing how you build them up. Quite coincidentally, I was scouting Che Adams before I signed Harry Arter in January. He should be a big player for you from the start. Hope you're doing well. I know you would have adored TFA. Very intense movie, fanboy or not!

                          The Blades

Sheffield United set to Announce New Manager

The board members emerged from the room with smiles on their faces, it looks like they have found their man. When questioned about who the new manager would be they only issued a simple response of, "A club statement will be released soon, and questions can be addressed afterwards."

                          Official Club Statement

James Beattie has agreed to a one-year contract to become Sheffield United's new first-team manager. The 37-year-old, who was once an established striker here at Bramall Lane, has most recently spent time managing Accrington Stanley. He will be joined shortly by his new team of assistants that we are working to finalize. The incoming staff will work alongside the existing backroom staff already contracted to the club and will commence their roles with immediate effect.

Beattie: It's an honor to be here and to be the new manager of Sheffield United. I am looking forward to getting to work and getting this club back up to the higher divisions where we all agree they should be. I'll open it up to a few questions now.

Reporter: First Accrington and now Sheffield United. How does it feel to manager at clubs you spent time playing at before?

Beattie: It's a tremendous privilege to have opportunities like that. While playing for a club like this you get entrenched in what it means to be a Sheffield United player. To know the traditions, the chants, this field, it's all a special place for me. To return here and have a chance to write another chapter in my history with this club is one that I won't take for granted. I want success for this club not just for myself, but for the players, and most importantly for the supporters. The same ones who used to come out and cheer for me when I pulled on the red and white stripes.

Reporter: What style of play are you hoping to implement in order to get Sheffield United back into the Championship?

Beattie: I want to play fast, attractive, attacking football. To win games you need to put the ball in the back of the net, plain and simple. I don't want to see us packing it in at any point this season, it is a mind set that I don't agree with and it is one that the supporters dread watching. I want to be sure that we don't just win, but that we give the supporters something to watch as well.

Reporter: When you look at the current squad list, do you like what you see? Is this a group of players that fit into your long-term plans for the club?

Beattie: I've only been manager for an hour now so I haven't had much time to begin my evaluations. I do plan on sitting down with the rest of my staff and fully evaluations who was believe are key pieces of our long term vision. Surely enough some players won't fit, but it's impossible to say who those would be now. There are always surprises in store as well. I want to see these players in training before I begin to make any of those decisions. That's all I have time for now, as you can imagine I have a lot of work ahead of me to get caught up to speed. Thank you for your time.

A quick look at how my team's going to look for next season. I'm not sure that Tioté is the right type of player for the base of the diamond, though he is a defensive beast. Maybe being close to two other midfielders will compensate for his lack of passing range. If not, I have until the end of August to upgrade or replace. The other player I have serious doubts about is Mitrović. I know he bagged a load of goals last season, and maybe I'm being greedy, but I feel like the game passes him by when we aren't building up slow and steady. Still, if I do choose to offload him before the window's out, I should pick up £12-£15 million for him, which should leave me with enough to sign a more athletic and mobile forward. Oh, and I have a shortlist. But I'm not going to share it with you because I'm a b@st*rd who likes keeping folks in suspense. What I will tell you is that The Toon is about to flex its newfound financial muscle.

                            Newcastle United 2015/16
                            Transfer budget: £45,000,000
                            Wage budget: £200,000

                            Rabbit, this one's for you.

Good thing this is just pre-season because this game had a lot of controversy, must of it centered around the second PK call in favor of Newport which came on this play

John-Lewis put Marccelino's team ahead for good and there was plenty of heat towards the referee thereafter and once the game had finished.

                                Group Match 3
Newport County - Bray Wanderers (4-0)
                                Klukowski 35'
                                Elito 45'
                                Collins 84'
                                McNally 89' (OG)

[insert fire emojis]Even though Newport has one of the lowest-rated rosters in League Two their Irish opponent on this day actually boasts lesser talent on their roster, and that much was evident on this beat down that clinched Newport's ticket to the semifinals. Elito firmly believed he should have gotten credit for the team's last goal, claiming his shot was on target before it hit McNally, but the referee didn't budge on his call.

                                Semi-final
                                Heracles Almelo - Newport County (0-0, 5-3 PK's)

Newport's run this pre-season comes to an end on a tough defeat from the penalty strike, where John-Lewis missed the team's very first shot and the team was unable to recover from that as the Dutch club nailed every one of their shots.

Review: Very excited to have one of these CM's back in action. Newport's rosters presents a lot of challenges and I'm trying to make the most of the €625K transfer budget and €3K wage budget. So 1st, I'm either selling or loaning anybody rated in the 40's or low 50's. I do like the striker Collins as he has solid potential but if he gets a loan offer I'll probably accept it. And speaking of loans, I need to make use of them to help this team to where I want them to. That's why Marccelino, coming from Palermo, reached an agreement with his old club on a 2-year loan for Manuel Arteaga whom the Italian club had just signed from the Venezuelan League. It's a win-win scenario where Newport will allow Arteaga to develop while he hopefully helps the club achieve promotion. Palermo wouldn't agree to a future fee.

A loan deal for Oliver Burke from Nottingham Forest is also in the works. That would put 5 loaned players on our roster to go with the 3 already there before the new coach's arrival (Donacien, Barnum-Bobb, O'Sullivan). The price acquisition is 23-year old Gary Gardner from Aston Villa for €700K. Gardner was transfer listed and Newport badly needed an upgrade at CDM so Gardner immediately steps into that role while a move to CAM in the future is certainly not out of the question. Gardner will also handle all set plays for Newport. Finally, Marccelino has hired an English scout, Adam Adeyemi (3* EXP, 2* JUD), to his youth staff and he has quickly been sent to scout in England for 3 months. The plan is to then sent him on scouting trips to Wales and Italy.

                                Here we go!
