•Mansfield and Clucas got a lucky goal against the run of play. Just as Goldson was about to clear it, Clucas nipped in and scored under Halstead.
•However rightfully, we managed to equalize through none other than Collins. Connor Goldson had pushed forward to join the attack and played the ball to Collins who spun his man and fired a rocket off his left foot past Studer, who had had a terrific game.
•Somehow we didn't win but we'll take the draw and replay.

Jordan Clark sprained his ankle so he will be out of action for 3 weeks.

•A dull enough game exploded into life in the last 20 minutes.
•Vincent slipped Lawrence in to open the scoring and then the winger put Collins through for the second.
•Woods scored the third, cutting inside and finishing into the corner.
•Vincent got a goal to add to his 2 assists.striking the ball cleanly to beat Lynch.
•Naismith got one back after he nutmegged Ellis on the edge of the box before shooting past Halstead.
•Collins completed a brace, taking him to 15 goals this season in all competitions, heading in substitute Mangan's cross.

Mickey Demetriou joins Clark on the sidelines after also spraining his ankle. We will be without him for 3 weeks.

FA Cup: Round 2 Replay
Mansfield Town (5) 1-1 (6) Shrewsbury
MAN: 86' Knight-Percival OG
SHR: 55' Gornell

•The second team played due to the first team being fatigued.
•They really should have won in normal time, Mansfield not even registering a shot on target in the entire 90 minutes.
•Gornell got us ahead, Griffith finding his run and the former Cheltenham man tucked it away.
•The danger when you only score one is that the opponent can get a little bit of luck and tie it up even though you dominate the game.
•That's what happened here. Leutwiler saved a shot from a tight angle and it bounced off Knight-Percival and into the net.
•It went to penalties and we prevailed even though Mansfield raced into a lead. Some good saves from Leutwiler and poor misses from Mansfield managed to keep us in the shootout. Leutwiler, our GK, scored a terrific penalty right into the corner and then on loan LB Ryan Haynes scored the winning penalty.
•Championship side Brentford, adrift by 4 points at the bottom, are our Round 3 opposition.

SHR: 42' Collins

•Crucial clash as Portsmouth are a point ahead in 1st.
•A mistake by Robinson at the back allowed Collins to take advantage and net the opening goal.
•One chance was all it took though for top scorer Ryan Taylor to take his tally to 17 for the season.
•Portsmouth GK Paul Jones was also in sensational form making 6 saves, and all of them were important ones.
•I guess you can say that a point is a good result but it wasn't what we needed.

SHR: 10' Gornell 46' McAllister

•Griffith played the ball into Gornell's feet and his turn left the defender on the ground before he slotted the ball away.
•Akpa Akpro got away down the right and his ball across the box was met by McAllister for 2-0.
•Leutwiler then had work to do to save Hoskins' penalty in the 53rd minute after Haynes gave it away.

HAR: 12' Miller
SHR: 32' Bates OG 83' Woods

•Halstead saved the first attempt from Hartlepool but Miller was there to finish the rebound from 18 yards.
•Bates had put the ball in his own net by halftime to level it up.
•Woods showed quick feet to get out from between two defenders and finish for the winner.

•Mangan and Maksimenko put us 2-0 up at halftime both through dispossessions.
•MOTM Gornell finished off a counter attack for 3-0.
•And Mangan won a penalty from which Gornell completed his brace.

The man behind the Shrews

Micky Mellon, born in Paisley located in the Scottish lowlands, has been in charge of League Two side Shrewsbury Town for 5 months now and the halfway stage of the season has been reached. The 43 year old Scot played professional football for 17 years at a total of 11 clubs. His most prominent clubs were Tranmere Rovers where he made 173 appearances across 3 spells and Blackpool where he played under Big Sam. Under his guidance he played 138 times in midfield scoring 17 goals in all competitions. The Tangerines' fans voted him their 1995-96 Player of the Year for his performances as they narrowly missed out on promotion to Division One.

Mellon had a brief spell as Assistant Manager at Lancaster City, the club where he finished his playing career, before moving to another former club Burnley. At Turf Moor he took charge of the Clarets' Under-15 and Under-16 youth teams. Fleetwood Town came calling at the end of 2008 and he became their manager, leading the side to two promotions over 3 years, including a first placed finish with 103 points in the Conference National. He was sacked after a run of 3 defeats in December 2012 despite the club sitting 4th in League Two. He spent a year as Assistant Manager at Barnsley before being sacked and taking his current job at Shrewsbury Town.

32 games in and his team have had a 22-5-5 record in all competitions. So far they remain in the running for one cup, the FA Cup, where they are in the 3rd Round awaiting the challenge of Championship bottom dwellers Brentford after already seeing off fellow League Two sides York City and Mansfield Town. Although both went to replays and the latter to a dramatic penalty shootout. Mellon will be wary of Championship opponents having been knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Mick McCarthy's Ipswich in only his second competitive game. There was also disappointment in the Johnstone Paint Trophy losing out to Wycombe courtesy of an extra time winner from Steven Craig. The have fared better in the league however, sitting 1st after 25 games having accumulated 60 points, one more than their nearest title rivals Portsmouth. It has been a constant battle between the two for top spot and should it come down to goal difference, the Shrews have the advantage, boasting the league's joint best defence, 18, and best offence, 9 goals more than Portsmouth (49 to 40). They are clearly an effective side and will take some stopping on their way to promotion and to, hopefully for fans, the Sky Bet League Two title.

Central to this have been the performances of key players. Connor Goldson and Mark Ellis have formed a solid partnership at the heart of the defence while Mark Halstead behind them has been in terrific form. Veteran midfielder Liam Lawrence has always been assured in possession and his distribution from deep has been top notch. The young Ryan Woods has played with a freedom that makes him extremely hard to mark in the No. 10 role bringing creativity to the final third. To finish it all off, James Collins has been scoring regularly, whether it be from crosses, supplied by James Caton or Ashley Vincent, or from balls in behind the defence. The ROI striker is behind only Pompey's Ryan Taylor (19) in the goal scoring charts with 11 strikes, level with Odejayi of Tranmere Rovers.

The fine performers listed above are only the first team and Mellon has put together a more than capable B Team to rely on when the first choice XI are not fully fit, among other things. It all starts from Swiss goalkeeper Jason Leutwiler who is more than staking a claim for the spot of Halstead with his performances. 27 year old Knight-Percival has gelled well with both Maksimenko and Smith, now being able to play with either of them in central defence. Griffith has provided athleticism and power in the middle of the park with McAllister alongside him complimenting the partnership. The trio of Gornell, Akpa Akpro and Mangan offer the primary goal threat with Akpa Akpro and Mangan often switching positions, CAM and LM/RM.

Just what changes Mellon will make in the transfer window is uncertain, many pundits are saying that it would be disastrous to mess with the team at this stage. That only two or three new faces are needed to freshen the team up. Then there is the topic of the Youth Academy. Mellon has stated that bringing youth through is a big priority of his so we could even see one or two youth players making the jump to the first team over the course of the next few months.

Whatever happens, the future of Shrewsbury Town is looking very bright indeed. Missing out on promotion would take the biggest of collapses and surely won't happen.

Our form seems to have dipped and it could be for a number of factors but it is no excuse. I think due to our huge gap at the top of the league we have just let it slip which is disappointing. We have had to rest several of our key players for the Champions League and I just hop it is worth it come the end of the competition. The month started well with a victory over Schalke but then just went downhill from their. A last minute goal denied us victory against FC Koln and Hamburg beat us 2 - 0 in what was probably our worst performance in a couple of years. We got through to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League despite losing the second leg to Chelsea 1 - 0. We can really start to see ourselves going far in this competition and we just have to believe in ourselves. Our first leg of the Quarter Final ended 0 - 0 which was a good result that means we only need the 1 goal to qualify in the 2nd leg.

April started of terrible with our second 2 - 0 defeat in succession, the first time we have lost two in a row since our first season back in the division but again we had our minds set on the Champions League. We progressed in the Champions League on away goals with the clean sheet in the first leg proving to be the vital in the tie. We stopped the bad run we had been on with a 3 - 2 victory over Eint.Frankfurt but again conceded 2 goals which is unlike us and is something we are looking to fix in the coming weeks but however, this victory was enough to see us crowned champions of the Bundesliga for the second time. We lost again to Stuggart 2 - 0 but the fixtures are really testing us with many of our players feeling fatigued and struggling for form and we may look to recall some of our loan players to add a bit of a spark to the squad. In the Desucther Pokal we managed to go thorugh on penalties in a game that looked as if we were going to be winning in extra time only for Wolfsburg to respond quickly to going 1 - 0 down, taking the tie to penalties. In the Semi Final of the Champions League we drew Valencia which seemed to be the easier tie compared to the other 2 teams left but we can't underestimate them. In the first leg we got a 1 - 1 draw, scoring that all important away goal which puts us at an advantage going into the 2nd leg. The 2nd leg didn't go according to plan after we were outclassed, simple as that. We lost the game 3 - 0, we just didn't turn up but I was proud of my players for getting so far in the competition and the rest of Europe is really starting to take note of our recent success.

With nothing to play for in the league, it gave me a chance to rotate the team and it seemed to have paid off in the first game of the month after a 3 - 1 victory over a Frieburg team who were preparing for a relegation play off match. Our last game of the season saw us pick up the trophy at Hoffenheim and although we only managed a draw nothing could dampen the mood after winning the league title. We now had a chance to win our second piece of silverware of the season in the Deustcher Pokal Final against FC Bayern in a game that started perfectly. We were 1 - 0 up after 5 minutes with Alex Telles choosing the perfect time to get his first goal for the club. That lead was then doubled after Aubameyang continued his good form since his January move with another goal and that all but secured the victory. We looked comfortable up unitl the 90th minute when Bayern's pressure paid off but it was too little too late and we picked up our first double.

The player of the year for the 2019/20 season was a tough choice to make as we had some really top performers this year, but the fans voted for leading goalscorer Hakan Calhanoglu after helping to guide the side to a historical double this season. Hakan really stepped up this year and and handled the pressure of filling the gap left by not only Julian Draxler but also Max Meyer and the fans really appreciate the hard work and determination he put into the cause. He was instrumental in the side going forward and has now registered double figures in his last 2 seasons and we just hop he can continue this food form and help lead the side to even more success in the future.

Final Thoughts
So it was a successful season for us, winning the league and cup as well as building on last seasons Champions League run and next season we are aiming to get that one step further, the final. We have already stregnthened for next season with the arrival of Robin Knocke (82) and Yacine Brahimi (84) so we hope to be competing again next season. We are also delighted to announce that Josip Reinmann (17y 68ovr) & Tero Niemi (17y 68ovr) have signed their first professional contracts with the club and we look forward to seeing how well they develop over the coming years. There have been discussions with the board over the upcoming season and we decided that expectations are a little higher this year and we are expecting to win the league as well as challenge in the Deuscther Pokal again. In the Champions League we agreed that the Quarter Finals would be considered a good season as the competition gets tougher and tougher every year but we are confident that we can exceed that this time around. In terms of budget we have agreed on £23,500,000 and a wage budget of £110,000 which we feel is fair and a sufficient enough to strengthen the team ahead of the new season.

That's definitely the goal, especially in the last season before FIFA 16, is to get as far as we can in the CL and with the team we'll have at the end of the window I think we could do it! (SPOILERS haha)

I guess it didn't happen because I got way too involved in the career itself, but I'd like to do a similar story this year. Nice job with the team, too. Portsmouth are on your tail but I think you'll see them off in the end.

@Cabee You win the transfer window report battle again, my friend! How do you keep track of everything and put it all up? You made some excellent moves in this window. Ake and Sergio look like proper heroes in the making, and Sanogo could turn into a legend if he gets going from day one. Any background on that minute's applause for Adam Stansfield?

@LukeWhu I was sure you would win either the Champions League or the Bundesliga this year. Your team is fantastic and you have a couple of really good players coming in, so it'll be interesting to see what moves you make over the summer. I think at this point we've all come to expect big cash to be exchanged between Leipzig and the other clubs!

Thanks! My knowledge of all the goings on is to check the "transfer news" feed each day of the window and look for any potential stories. I then look at the "Latest Transfers" section and see if any new official transfers have been made.

Yeah, they've all scored at least once (Sanogo scored four times!) in the three friendly games they played!

I know it's a bit unorthodox, but you know the scene at the start where everyone comes onto the pitch and it shows the team sheets? I clapped through those for the first month. My girlfriend had no idea what I was doing but It was the closest i could do to imitate the applause and I thought it'd be a bit disrespectful to say about the applause and not do it so i chose to do that. Hahaha

Russell found Çiftçi right outside of the box and he wove through the defense to fire a shot from the middle into the top left corner.

Jamieson pushed the ball into the box and attacked to the right before cutting it back inside and slotting it past the keeper on the near post. Russell played the ball to Veldwijk in the middle of the box and his shot was saved into the middle of the box and Williams was the first to it to bury the ball in the back of the net. Davies played a long ball over the top of the defense and Clayton was able to send a looping header over the keeper and into the goal.

Manager Comments

We have really begun to extend our lead over the rest of the table. This month saw us facing some of the better competition in the league, and we handled it with relatively no issues. Our first match left us worried that our attacking problems from last month weren't fixed, but once Jamieson finally got his feet back under him coming off of his injury, he finished the month with 7 goals. It was clear that we missed him in the lineup, and him and Çiftçi are making quite the combination up front and giving opposing teams fits when they are on the field together. There were no cup competitions this month, but that all changes starting early in January. We open F.A. Cup play against Crewe Alexandra, and immediately afterwards we will begin the first leg of our Capital One Cup Semi Final against Tottenham.

I have a few, but I'm not sure what their transfer values will be in your career, and some don't what you are looking for 100%, but can develop into it.

Håvard Nordtveit from Borussia M'Gladbach has pretty much everything you are looking for, but he might be a little expensive. He is from Norway.

Alexander Mejia is a Colombian player that plays for Monterrey. Solid passer, endless stamina, and solid defensive stats.

Veli Kavlak is a Austrian player that plays at Besiktas. He fits the bill of what you are looking for, and has a powerful shot to go with it. He might also be too expensive, but I'm not sure.

And fear not, I have some Italian options for you too.

Lorenzo Crisetig plays for Cagliari. He's a fantastic passer, has good strength, but his defensive stats aren't as high as you would probably like. However, he is young and has a lot of growth left in him and those stats will get up to where you want them sooner rather than later I would think.

Fausto Rossi plays for Cordoba. Absolutely a top class passer, his defensive stats are good except for slide tacking, but marking and sanding tackles are solid. His big problem is that he is much weaker than what you were hoping for. His strength won't likely ever get to where you want it to be. He may also be too expensive.

Luca Marrone plays for Juventus. He's not particulary great in 1 thing, but solid in all the things you are looking for. His marking could use some improvement, but his tackling stats are good. Plus, he is young so his marking will get much better with time.

If I had to recommend a player I think that Crisetig would be a great option. It's funny, he is actually moving to Bologna in loan for this season in real life.

Joshua Guilavogui from Wolfsburg may be good.

Johannes Geis from Mainz may also work.

Giannelli Imbula from Marseille could also work

Andreas Samaris from Benfica

Those are ones I could think of as well as from looking on SoFifa

The Manager’s View:

I’ve never been a big fan of buying masses of players in the transfer window but I felt like it was called for due to the backing of the board and the increase in funds that we needed to get some top-class players. This time, it seems to have worked as we’re top of the league! Realistically, we will be aiming for 6th place, maybe 5th if we push hard. I expect us to get into the final of the Europa League and I’m expecting us to do well in the F.A Cup/Capital One Cup too.

Yaya Sanogo has been our standout signing since joining the club and has made an instant impact up front. He’s has much more physical presence than Sinclair or Appiah had and that’s why he’s had such an impact. Our new style of play has great versatility and allows both target men and speedy along-the-ground players to play to their strengths. Yassane Benzia allows us to have unpredictability and he also allows us to pick the correct striker against the correct opposition.

Sergio Rodríguez is very much a playmaker which was what we were missing late on last season where we were just relying on players to be in the right place at the right time. James Ward-Prowse and Lassane Bangoura have spiced up our attacks and have both impacted hugely but in different ways.

Youth Academy graduate, Conor Compton has continued his great form but unfortunately missed our last two games which were where we declined in quality.

Our record signing, Nathan Aké, has provided some needed solidity in the LDM role. He looks like a real gem and he has a couple more years until he reaches is prime which I can confidently say will make him formidable in that spot.

With Ruano out on loan to Leeds, Byram was our only right back until I bought DeAndre Yedlin. He’s played once in the Real Madrid game but he was up against two of the best; Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo which was why he struggled. He provided attacking threat but he’ll be of more use against lesser teams where he’ll do fine. Grimaldo on the other hand contained those world-class wingers amazingly; nothing went down our left unless Real wanted to lose the ball.

Some of the regulars have stepped up including the likes of Robert Bauer and Kyle Weale who seem to be everywhere in the midfield and intercepting from out of nowhere. Sam Byram had started to get tired late last season but he’s looking sharp in his first couple of games and the acquisition of Yedlin will allow him to rest when needed.
