Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Indi: great finish to the season! Top 4 is more than you could have hoped for at the start. Wijnaldum and Cabella had incredible years. In regards to your overhaul of the squad, 3-5 quality players would be more realistic than a complete reshuffle imo. Some of the players that got you there deserve CL football. Looking forward to seeing who you bring in.

Tex: Excellent choice with Sheffield United. They've been doing well in the cup competitions the last few seasons so now it's down to Beattie to get them back to the Prem! Good luck.

Rabbit: Newport first: Gardner was a big investment but I'm sure he'll be worth it and it's vital to have a good midfield anchor. Nice link with the striker from Palmero and your manager's former club, a bit of realism! I see that Elito is at the club. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he with you at Dagenham?
CCM now: The A-League should be an interesting league. Manchester City signed Caceres from them today. It'll be a fun journey following you from club to club!

SMH: November was a good month with a great point against Zenit. You are within touching distance of the top 5 so a good December will get you right into the mix.

Thanks man, Gardner's been the best player for Newport in almost every game. He makes the team so much better. Arteaga is someone I'm excited about in real life so I wanted to get him at least on loan and he's why I linked the coach to Palermo ... and I felt the love when you remembered Elito from Dagenham, he was definitely a staple of that team for many many seasons and swayed me to pick Newport over Accrington.

As far as CCM, it's a wide open league and 6 of the 10 teams make the playoffs which is all the board wants from me. I didn't know Caceres was signed by Man City that's really cool, he plays in every game for me but I'm forced to use him more at CDM because he's the only one who has the attributes to back up Montgomery. I'm already keeping my eye on openings but the leagues I wanna go to aren't hiring yet and my resume ... well ...

        End of Season Press Conference

Guten Tag, Herr Dardai and Herr Preetz. How successful was your last campaign?

Preetz: The 2016-17 season was an excellent season for us. We managed to improve our Europa League spot and next season we will be playing in the most prestigious and in the best club competition, the Champions League. These two seasons have been absolutely amazing and this club has the potential for even bigger and better things in the future.

You also reached the Europa League semi finals and the DFB Pokal final. Was it disappointing to fail in winning both of those competitions?

Preetz: Was it disappointing to come so close to winning them and lose? Yes, of course. As a football club we always want to win trophies. Are we disappointed about reaching those stages? No, never in a hundred years. No one expected us to even reach those stages and I'm extremely proud of that. Hopefully now the world will acknowledge that we actually are a great team. We can only improve from here.

What are your footballing plans for next season?

Dardai: We are looking to improve the squad with a couple of big signings. Then we are looking to achieve another top four finish and to strenghten our position as one of the best German football teams. In the DFB Pokal we would be happy to reach the semi finals.

I'm sorry about the press conference being a bit rushed but I don't have time to write a longer one.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

          CENTRAL COAST MARINERS F.C.
          October/November Update

          League Match 1

          Brisbane Roar - CCM (2-1)
          Heffernan 9' (Rose)
          Broich 56'
          Maclaren 68'
          Montgomery

Pre-season was no fluke and although CCM got off to an early lead they were unable to pile it on or hang on and ended up with a defeat even though they won TOP and had more shots than the home team.

          League Match 2
          CCM - Wellington Phoenix (2-0)
          Fitzgerald 64' (Gonzalez)
          Heffernan 90+' (Trifiro)

Del Barco was elated following his 1st win as a professional HC, praising the whole squad for an outstanding collective effort. "This is what we've worked for an I'm very happy for all the players and coaches that we were able to get a victory in our pockets early on in the season," he said. "There is still a lot of work to be done so we need to keep our focus and continue to improve as a team."

          League Match 3
          Newcastle Jets - CCM (3-0)
          Poljak 54'
          Trifunovic 76'
          Izzo 80' (OG)

And just like that the momentum from that win was gone after a rough defeat at Forest Park. Both teams had 5 shots, 4 on goal, but Mark Birighitti was a grown man in this game and CCM's defense was often confused in their assignments.

          League Match 4
          CCM - Adelaide United (2-2)
          Wilkinson 10' (OG)
          Fitzgerald 15' (Gonzalez)
          Malik 24' (OG)

          Djite 27'
          Heffernan

A game with the most bizarre first 30 minutes you may ever see. Each own goal was freaky and the roller coaster stalled in the following 60 minutes as the teams finally settled in and played much better defense.

          League Match 5
          Perth Glory - CCM (2-1)
          Harold 13'
          O'Donovan 27' (Montgomery)
          Castro 64' (pen)
          Poscoliero

Tough, tough loss for CCM who continue to fail to gain any points on the road. Harold was hot coming off a hat trick in his previous game and he quickly put the home team ahead but O'Donovan was due after a good pre-season and he finally got on the board for CCM. But a questionable call(read: good call) at the top of the box earned the home team a penalty kick that Castro swiftly put through to give his squad the 3 points.

          League Match 6
          CCM - Melbourne City (0-1)
          J. Trifiro 40'
          O'Donovan 90'

CCM failed to gain points at home for the first time this season but after the game the focus was on O'Donovan's red card, resulting from a hard foul from behind near midfield. "Total frustration foul," coach Del Barco said. "I understand his frustration since he had a couple of good scoring chances but couldn't convert and we were the better team on the pitch, but he can't do that to his teammates. We'll work hard to replace him in this next game and we'll talk about avoiding things like this going forward.

          Hyundai A-League
          1. Brisbane Roar - 14pts
          2. Melbourne Victory - 13 pts
          3. Melbourne City - 12 pts
          4. Adelaide United - 11pts
          5. Perth Glory - 9pts
          6. Sydney FC - 9pts

          7. Newcastle Jets - 7pts
          8. WS Wanderers - 7pts
          9. Central Coast - 4pts
          10. Well. Phoenix - 3pts

          Top Scorers
          T-1 - Berisha (Melb. Victory) - 4
          T-1 - Ninkovic (Sydney FC) - 4
          T-1 - Harold (Perth Glory) - 4
          ...
          T-3 Heffernan/Fitzgerald (CCM) - 2

          Assists
          1 - McKay (Brisbane Roar) - 3
          T-2 - Gonzalez (CCM) - 2
          T-2 - Three others - 2

          Clean Sheets
          1 - Theo (Brisbane Roar) - 4
          T-2 - Sorensen (Melb. City) - 3
          T-2 - Vukovic (Melb. Victory) - 3
          ...
          T-4 - Izzo (CCM) - 1

Review: not good. Ok, that may be a bit harsh as this is a 1-star team but I expected a bit better. On the bright side it's still very early and anywhere from 6th place up would be an outstanding finish for us but there needs to be a lot of improvement obviously. I'm tweaking some things with players' roles and I'm hoping that will lead to better performances. It took me a while to find a worthy youth scout but I finally hired Liam McGarry (2* EXP, 3* JUD) from New Zealand and asked him to scout Australia right away so hopefully there will be some updates on the youth squad the next time. Guys have been performing well in training and I'm trying to give some extra sessions to a couple of youngsters in the midfield (Kalik/Rose) since they have a bright future. Stella has also been training hard and he'll replace O'Donovan (suspension) in the next game.

          Starting XI

          The Roster

Goalkeepers: Paul Izzo (58 OVR), Tom Heward-Belle (51 OVR), Alastair Bray (51 OVR), Adam Pearce (51 OVR).
Fullbacks: Josh Rose (64 OVR), Storm Roux (64 OVR), Michael Neill (59 OVR).
Centre-backs: Alex Wilkinson* (69 OVR), Jacob Poscoliero (62 OVR), Tomislav Uskok (56 OVR), Jake McGing (56 OVR), Harry Ascroft (55 OVR).
Midfielders/Wingers: Cesar Gonzalez* (66 OVR), Fabio Ferreira (65 OVR), Anthony Caceres (65 OVR), Nicholas Fitzgerald (63 OVR), Nick Montgomery (63 OVR), Glen Trifiro (61 OVR), Mitch Austin (57 OVR), Anthony Kalik (58 OVR), Liam Rose (57 OVR), Matt Sim (56 OVR).
Strikers: Roy O'Donovan (62 OVR), Francesco Stella (59 OVR), Daniel Heffernan (59 OVR), Josh Bingham (53 OVR), Trent Buhagiar (53 OVR).

          That's all for now

Hi guys, it's been a while.

I haven't been updating for a couple of reasons. Number 1: school>fifa. Number 2: My current career mode that I am thoroughly enjoying is Newcastle, which Indi is doing. I have done them in the past, but updating will take to much time and I don't want to take from Indi's. Good to see content seems to be picking up again.

If you'd like, I could tell you what I have done so far with Newcastle. Also, how is everyone?

Good to see you're all well! As always school is definitely more important than FIFA. There's always time for games later on in life but you have to make the most of school now. I'd like to see a season roundup of your Newcastle career, not to compare with Indi's but just to see the different routes you've both taken. Transfer wise, results etc.

Will do. It won't be super detailed as I have moved on to season two, and I can't remember everything, but I'll do my best. Just to let you know, there is a rather large mix between realistic and unrealistic signings.

                    Season 1 | 2015-16

                    March

                    Match 24
                    Kaiserslautern 3-0 Braunschweig

                    Lorenzen 32'
                    Przybyłko 56'
                    Lorenzen 74' (Pen)

                    MOTM: Melvyn Lorenzen (8.1)

League top scorer Lorenzen added his 11th goal of the season on 32 minutes beating the defender to the front post to head in a Schulze cross. Fellow striker Przybyłko followed suit, rounding the defender and firing past the keeper. A third came from the spot, allowing Lorenzen to score a 12th league goal. Gaus had the ball in the net for a fourth time but Lorenzen's pass was a fraction too late, making the winger offside. The win maintains our lead at the top of the table.

                    Match 25
                    MSV Duisburg 1-1 Kaiserslautern

                    Onuegbu 3'
                    Mockenhaupt 32'

                    MOTM: Kingsley Onuegbu (7.6)

Duisburg got an early lead when Onuegbu headed a cross from the right in off the crossbar. Central defender Mockenhaupt however produced a smashing strike from 30 yards to level it. The defender picked the loose ball up off a corner and let one fly. The ball looped over the Duisburg keeper and in off the crossbar. A truly wonderful goal.

                    Lorenzen 49'

                    MOTM: Mateusz Klich (7.8)

Craig Jones headed a corner off the post before beating everyone else to the rebound and smashing it in off the crossbar. A second soon followed when Jones cut in and forced a save from Müller. Terodde was on hand to put away the rebound. After a poor first half from us, Klich sent a beautiful ball over the defence to set Lorenzen away. The 21 year old made no mistake and scored past a floundering Riemann. Chances followed for both teams but it was the away side who held on for an important win.

                    Kaiserslautern 1-1 SC Freiburg

                    Torrejon 33'
                    Lorenzen 78' (Pen)

MOTM: Alexander Schwolow (7.5, FRE, 4 saves)

Przybyłko missed a golden chance just 19 minutes in to put us ahead and it cost us when Torrejon gave Freiburg the lead. A poor header by Zimmer from a defending corner went straight to the Freiburg man and all he had to do was put the ball past Muller. Lorenzen equalized from the spot when Kempf hauled Przybyłko down.

                    Thanks for Reading!

I'd like to see a season roundup of your Newcastle career, not to compare with Indi's but just to see the different routes you've both taken. Transfer wise, results etc.
Glad to see you've got your priorities right. I hope everything's going well for you, mate. I actually checked in today to let everyone know that I've hit my second season slump with Newcastle. I felt like there was too much to change and improve, but I didn't want to part with my existing stars nor did I wish to use a Financial Takeover. Essentially, I ended up over-thinking the whole thing and lost the plot. I'm at a point where I'm not interested in the career anymore.

TL;DR - Not doing Newcastle anymore. Jamie, feel free to post your updates.

Quick question on what you guys want to see from me next. I'm on board with re-starting the Newcastle career with some good writing alongside it, but I've laid out three choices. Vote so I can take your opinions into account before I make my decision. Thanks!

I went with the Newcastle redo as I know how well you can write a storyline so it definitely won't be repetitive. If you adjust your sliders as you said you were going to do, then the results might be a tad more realistic too, making a more interesting career for both us and you.

Thanks for the high praise, mate! I have some ideas for transforming The Toon into the powerhouse they should be, and it's going to take a bit longer than 2-3 seasons. I think last time I set out underestimating just how tough it would be to win trophies. And I understand how it can get boring if a team like Newcastle gets good overnight with no strengthening. I was using the Twitch Collaboration Set from the OS Sliders thread, and I think the acceleration boost just made it way too easy to win games I shouldn't have won. I'm using the latest set they've put up, and I just finished these 10 games as Newcastle and Chelsea:

                            Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

                            Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle

                            Newcastle 1-0 Sunderland

                            Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool

                            Watford 0-0 Newcastle

                            Chelsea 2-1 Porto

                            Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

                            Chelsea 4-0 Milan

                            Chelsea 3-3 Barcelona

                            Bayern 3-2 Chelsea

They do make a good set over there. I'm using the last set before any patches as I'm unable to download any patches unfortunately.

There looks like a good bit of realistic variety in those results. You can definitely see a difference in your scoring between Newcastle and Chelsea, as you imagine it should be.

I'm looking forward to seeing this get off the ground (again), or whatever team is chosen!

I went for the fallen giant. And the giant I think you should do is either Leeds United or Blackburn Rovers. Blackburn having won the Premier League and Leeds having been in the champions league in the last 15 years. I would have said Forest, but you've done them. I also think you can build a really good storyline around both of them.
