Re: MLS OF - PES 2010 for PS3 (US version)
Great OF! A few minor things I changed. Gave a slight boost in ratings to GK's Thornton of Chivas (GK of the year), Rimando from RSL (amazing run during the playoffs and cup), and Ricketts (has high ratio of clean sheets to games started). Also boosted Donovan to be at least 80 overall. Also noticed that Chivas still have last year's jersey sponsor (Comex). Should be some company called "Extra" this year.
Also when setting up a master league, is there a way to just leave the "D2 League" at 16 teams, so it's just the MLS teams? Currently it's defaulting to 18 teams and I didn't see any way to delete the 2 extra teams.
Thanks for your hard work! It's much appreciated.
A brief note about stats:
Generally speaking, I don't pay too much attention to a player's overall rating. In part, that's just a habit, because the overall rating is actually pretty new to the PES series.
I pay most attention to the overall when it promises to throw the depth charts significantly out of whack. So in those cases, I sometimes will edit players slightly with depth charts in mind. I guess my main point, though, is that the stats are not driven by getting a particular overall rating. I'm more interested in trying to get specific skill sets right.
Another thing: the overall rating is significantly influenced by two factors -- 1) the player's registered (ie, primary) position; and 2) whether or not the player is playing in his registered position. So, for example, just by putting Donovan at SMF will drop his overall rating, since he's registered as SS. If you register Donovan as SMF, his overall will go up, without changing any stats. Something to keep in mind.
The one position that I rely more heavily on the overall to guide player rating is for GKs. While I try to get internal attributes right, I utilize a stats ladder more explicitly with net minders. I don't have the game in front of me, but if I remember correctly, the starting MLS GKs break down something like this in terms of overalls:
Keller - 70 (ceiling for MLS GKs, imo)
Onstad & Ricketts - 66
A bunch of GKs at 63, 64, & 65 - Frei, Rimando, Reis, Thornton, etc.
Hesmer - I think 60/61
Seitz - second lowest
Dykstra - lowest
I'm relatively happy with ratings (err..if I wasn't, they'd be different), but appreciate the feedback. To a significant extent, player ratings are subjective. I have a system and a mental conception of stats that's sometimes a bit hard to explain precisely. Also, with the big swing in stats due to condition arrows, you're looking more for a range of stats than anything else. Sometimes it's difficult evaluating a player and discerning what's his baseline in comparison with, say, a good day/stretch of form.Comment

Yeah, we know about and are working on the new 'extra' Chivas kit PNGs. They'll be changed in an update, along with further cleaning up of kits, GKs especially.

Any word on if we can set the D2 league in Master league to only 16 teams? If so, I haven't figured it out.Comment

A subsequent version of the file for 1.06 is now available. Improved KC and Colorado kits are the primary feature:

So I've had time to play more games now and this OF is great. You guys did a very good job and I am very impressed with the player likenesses on the faces.
Did you guys think about adding the Timbers and Whitecaps?Comment

Re: MLS OF - PES 2010 for PS3 (US version)
Not really. We'd have to take out some more emblems and kits to add two more teams. Creating players is somewhat of a pain, too. I don't have too much familiarity with USL players; nor do I have this year's version of FM for conversions, which could help fill in some knowledge gaps (although, again, I don't really trust/like playing with strictly FM converted stats). And, frankly, I am a bit tired of editing stuff at the moment. I've been working on the file off and on since December.
BolivianFire & I had tentatively talked about editing the file in advance of the World Cup. That's not 100% definite as yet. That's likely where my next bout of editing energy will go, if indeed we decide to make that push.Comment

Thanks for the update.
Two questions...what changes are you making to the kits? If they are "little" changes, I guess I'll we would need to do is just copy over that main "system" file, instead of all the kits..
Also, (and I'm in CO on business so can't check) but are all the world cup teams in this as well?Comment

As for the actual changes to the kits, we have some new, improved PNGs. We've also tweaked some kit colors and designs via the in-game editor.
Regarding the World Cup, all 32 teams are in the game minus Algeria and New Zealand. Some people think those two teams will be added in a subsequent Konami update, but I think that's mostly wishful thinking.
If you want to emulate the 2010 World Cup on PES, I recommend using Bahrain in place of New Zealand and Egypt in place of Algeria, since Bahrain and Egypt were who NZ and Algeria respectively defeated in the playoffs for the last World Cup spots. For reference, the World Cup group breakdown is here.Last edited by connoll3; 04-22-2010, 12:31 AM.Comment

You guys gonna make the new all yellow Sounders kit? Not that I really care about it, just curious. I actually think it's very blindingly ugly. (Sorry Sounders fans)
Still enjoying the heck out of this OF file!Comment

Re: MLS OF - PES 2010 for PS3 (US version)
A minor update to version 1.2 (call it, say, 1.21) is now available. Main feature is the addition of a new NYRB 1st kit (with Red Bull Arena inaugural patch), the Seattle Sounders new 3rd kit ('electricity'), and new Chelsea kits. D/l link at the bottom of this post:
Another note: we're planning on updating the file for the World Cup, so all the World Cup sides will have updated kits (the ones we can edit) and properly adjusted rosters, formations, lineups, etc.
Also, we're going to create the National Teams of Algeria and New Zealand over Guinea and Bahrain, respectively -- so all 32 World Cup teams will be available and you'll be able to properly set up and emulate what's going to happen in South Africa (the flags and labels for Guinea and Bahrain will remain, but the kits and team internals will be for Algeria and NZealand). Stay tuned.Comment

Re: MLS OF - PES 2010 for PS3 (US version)
connoll3, what settings would you recommend to get a less aggressive (defensively) cpu AI on professional difficulty? I think this game suffers from the same problem as fifa does in that regard. IMO, the cpu plays unrealisticly aggressive on the higher difficulty levels.
I put the pressing and compactness to 0 and that really helped. ...... maybe too much. I defeated the NYRB 4-0 on 5 minutes and professional difficulty. Prior to changing any settings, I lost 2-0 to NYRB on 10 minutes.Comment
