I'm playing with Liverpool, in EPL, so games should continue. I'm assuming they designed the game with everyone taking a break.

In my ML I signed Suarez and Wright Phillips. Sold Babel and had some outrages offers for Carragher and Reina. I messed up by selling/loaning to many SB's, had a spot open but for some reason couldn't sign a SB. Not sure what happened there. Currently negotiating for Rafinha Genoa CFC. I really love the Youth Team as that adds such a great dynamic to the game.

I get a kick out of players showing as not happy because they aren't playing enough. When you've played 19 of 20 matches how the hell can you be unhappy! LOL.

      Re: Master League Thread

I never realized people actually use this forum I figured most people on this site are all about FIFA. ML totally annihilates fifa's career mode. I enjoy both but I'm mostly a single player type of gamer. If only you could use the game play of fifa with the ML of PES that would be the bomb.

I'm actually just getting ready to start my proper ML tonight and I got my copy last month lol. I like to unlock all the classic players/teams beforehand and do some editing. I've started like 3 already but got to about october in each one when i realized theres stuff I needed to edit. One thing I've noticed though is that in each ML I started every 9 out of 10 games were at night. Which is a major bummer because most sports games look much worse at night and this one is def no exception. Obviously champs league games will be at night but id say ive played about 3 day games total out of 25 or so ive played in ML,strange indeed.
They laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at them because they're all the same.

From what I've noticed, I've had most of my games played during the day. Did you do the update to the lastest version?

          Re: Master League Thread

Yes I did right when I got the game. I've searched around a little bit and can't really seem to find anyone else having this problem. I'm into october now and haven't played a single day game. Reminds me of fifa 09 when just about every game you played with an EPL club in manager mode it would be raining then they finally smartened up and gave you the option to select the weather before each game. This is a PES game we're talking about here so things like this do not surprise me whatsoever lol.

            Re: Master League Thread

            AC Milan...
knocked out of the Champions League at the first knock out round... AGAIN... by an english team... AGAIN. last year Chelsea knocked me out on away goals. this year liverpool (with John Terry captain !! WTF) did the same. the english teams really clog up the middle. was brutal. Ibra and Pato never ha possession. pirlo and silva just lost the mid field battle, plain and simple. sucks to play so much and lose here.. but i like the challenge and the way i lost.

also, had to make a tough choice for finances... i was going to be in debt next year so decided to unload Ronaldhino... it was sad, but i got 35MM euros for a 32 year old from Barca. after it all, i wound up buying zarate as another SS. no dinho, but we will see. robinho has been playing well in the wing position.

loving this game. i am in second in Seri A, and in the cup final... last year i won the league and lost the final cup game in the last minutes. so silverware is there, but really struggling in the champions league.

            what a game...

              Re: Master League Thread

Through 7 matches in my ML with Norwich City, I'm 4-2-1 and sitting in 4th or 5th (don't remember). Lost in the first round of the FA Cup on an own effing goal (Gah!).

Question, how the heck do you defend corner kicks? Anytime the CPU has one it's almost a lock they score or get off a great shot on goal. I've tried controlling a number of guys, hitting "A" and "B" buttons for headers, but no matter what they seem to win every effing header. I need some serious help.

corners are incredibly difficult. i think a lot depends on stats - defense and teamwork... and maybe height? it try position more than anything. grab the right guy (tall then head towards the X).

also, maybe work on marking. but best defender on teams best header - sometime not the striker...

I try to get to the spot early but it's difficult to judge it sometimes.

i give up alot of goals on corners. I still can't figure out how to dive on a PK. It took my alot of practice to get off a good PK shot, but i dont know how to stop them.

On the PS3, you push L or R on the LS and push the square button. You have to time it to the PK'er.

still struggling with my back to back losses in the champions league 16...

                        TEAMWORK
gave you guys noticed a big difference in how this rating works in pro evo ML? so the idea is the longer a player has been with the team and (more parabolic) played significant games, the rating will go up (btw - tip i think youth players come in with a very high teamwork, might just be the one player though).

i am trying to get a handle on how significant this is? i have been quite active in the transfer market. in fact, of my 11, silva, adam johnson, lukaka, and muller see significant time.

please weigh in... this might be some sort of hidden team form stat...

I'm pretty sure there's a way to practice PKs in Training mode. I'm not on my PS3 right now but when I am I'll let you know how to get to it.

Now to my question; Anybody ever use the "Leave to Coach" option for games you don't want to play? If so, does the "coach" make appropriate substitutions when necessary? Or will the "coach" just leave your players in there to become fatigued? I want to sim some games but I want to make sure my players are getting rotated so they can have rest and to develop others.

All you have to do is choose to practice FK and put the ball in the Penalty area and you'll practice taking PKs.

But yes, the different strategies... From game to game, and situation to situation... It's outstanding. The coaches will change formations and strategies appropriately, to the point where the action on the pitch changes dramatically. This is a great soccer sim.

The higher the teamwork rating the better players will connect their passes and be in sync with each other.

My BAL player's teamwork rating has been steadily climbing throughout the season, and at one point there was even a cutscene after a game where a player came up to me and said that my teammates were starting to get used to playing with me...

And just a few games ago I saw another cutscene where a player came up to me and basically said I was an integral part of the team, and from then on it's been a lot easier to connect passes, etc.

PES 2011 finally feels like the arrival of PES for this generation.
