So, I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, or if it's a bug, but my three best players were "out in the cold" and not called up for the WC, despite being perfectly healthy. Now, I would understand it if there was immense competition at their positions or if they were borderline call-ups, but there is no way a guy like this would ever not be called up:

Yeah, but I looked at their squad and he was by far the best.

BTW, I had my first successful appeal of a suspension ever in all my years of FM. It's my greatest FM achievement. Anyone else been successful?

Got my CL group draw today:

I have a 55-6-4 record with Italy and I am 0-2 against France in both the Euro and World Cup finals. They are the unbeatable team for me.

So, after hitting a bit or a rough patch at Swansea, I was suddenly up for the OM job. I didn't get it. Instead, Greek Superleague club Aris approached me, and I jumped ship anyway. European football qualification is going to be a tough task this year, but it's still possible, with 11 games left in the season.

It's been quite a satisfying journeyman save, here's my career so far:

You can also see there that I've qualified from my African Cup of Nations group, I finished second behind Egypt in the group of death. I'll post a write up when it's over.

Also, Portland won the MLS this year, I'd like to take credit for that one.

Damn. Senegal were slight favorites coming in, but I thought we had it. Our tactics worked great- neutralizing their two strong offensive forces, and putting them on their heels. Unfortunately, the FM gods conspired against me, and we narrowly lost an absolute war. Eto'o went off early severely gimped our offensive production, and what was basically an own goal in the 80th minute had me convinced it was over. We got one back, but it wasn't enough.

Yellow were everywhere, a couple of reds, 1 per team, and an injury to my other striker at the start of ET meant I was playing with 9 men and an AMC at striker. We were lucky to even take it to penalties, and not surprisingly, Senegal basically won by default. Everyone that could take penalties was either injured or taken off to correct for previous injuries or the red card. Those that couldn't were exhausted, and nervous. In the end, it's no surprise they dominated the shootout, but I'm dejected nonetheless.

Regardless, even if we had won, by my count I'd have 4 starters serving suspensions and no true strikers, as all 3 were injured.

Hm, that's a bit strange then. Just make believe he got caught up in a "prostitutes incident".

I'll pretend all three of them were running an underage prostitution ring with Frank Ribery.

Got a great result in my first Euro Qualifier match against Serbia and Montenegro. As you can see they did not do too well in the shot department:

I did not expect us to make the European Places Playoff this year, but we're right on the cusp. It all comes down to this next, and last, game against the team above us. Winner is in, they make it in in the event of a draw.

Basically, the teams placed 2-5 go into a mini league at the end of the season and the European spots are doled out through that.

Well, you've at least got something to build on for next season.

Dramatic win vs. Rangers in my first CL group stage match. Went up 2-0 they tied it with two goals in the second half, the last one coming in the 90th minute. I then went into overload (take more risks, push higher up, look for overlap) and scored the match winner in the 95th minute. What a game!

I having a tough time with Team USA and Nacional, even downloaded some tactics from FM base to see if I can get some results, before getting fired. Started 2014 qualifying, and getting ready for 2nd phase of liga postabon.

Beware, frantically switching to new tactics without giving your team a chance to learn them is a bad idea. You will never get results.

Speaking of tactics, have any of you guys ever used a 4-3-3? I've crafted one and I feel it's working great, despite the apparent lack of defensive responsibility. I'm still only in preseason, but we're playing great with it, and the team haven't completely learned it yet.

I will use a 4-3-3 in desperation mode but usually role with a 4-3-2-1 depending on my club/players.

I should finally get my computer back tomorrow and can get back into my FM.
