Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I just don't think it's quite right how highly priced players are. I would understand if they were wonderkids or Messi/Ronaldo status but Hamsik for $50+m? No way. Same for Rodwell.
On the flip-side, I guess the game represents quite well how over-inflated the transfer market still is.
Also, have you tried sweetening your deals with percentage of next sale or profit of next sale clauses? What about offering a player that you can do without? Sometimes you can bring down their asking price with these things.Comment

$50 million is about 30 million pounds. You look at some of the deals for similar players IRL and I find it to be pretty realistic. Teams will not just give away good, young players for nothing. Especially if they're under contract for the next few years. If you want established stars for less, you have to find guys who are turning down contract extensions or are unhappy.

And you guys are right about using pounds over dollars. I'll switch to that the next time I play. No matter what currency is being used though, it's still unreasonable (for me) to pay 5x a player's value.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
My love/hate relationship with this game hit another level at the end of my first season Westerlo. I finished the regular season in first with a 6 point cushion and started Championship Group play with a 3 point lead. Then it all fell apart and we were unable to get anything going, but going into the last game of the season all we need was a draw to take the first ever league title in Westerlo's history. And this is how the game played out......
I thought we had ended our embarrassing collapse with a blowout loss and began to hate this game, but FM did its usual thing and sucked me back in.Comment

Usually, most of the time in my first transfer window I'll barely do anything because I can't get the lay of the land yet. But I set up my foundation by scouting players and adding them to shortlists, and usually by the second transfer window, some guys will have become unhappy (if you have them on your shortlist you should receive news items about those players), or their asking price will just have dropped by quite a bit, one way or another.Comment

I purchased 2012 and was wondering if there's real logos, kits, etc. that can be downloaded?
I thought I saw something in an older post.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

On a different note, I was pissed when Team GB basically hijacked most of my first-team for the Olympics. They ended up winning medals, but they missed most of pre-season and I had to do with a bit of a make-shift squad for my Community Shield match with Arsenal. My Man. United squad played well enough but we lost 2-3.
Should be an interesting year after my treble winning season. Rio Ferdinand wants the same pay-scale as Rooney which I am not about to give him and no offers have come in for him except for Chelsea (who I will not sell to). Decisions decisions!Comment

I say ship him to Chelsea if they're offering money. He's only going to decline. Let a rival waste the money.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I'm continuing to cruise along with City. I haven't dropped a single point and the team is humming along. However, Chelsea are also off to a hot start and are 2 points behind. Everton are a surprising 3rd while Arsenal and Spurs are 4th anf 5th. Man United are 7th
In the CL, I'm tops with Bayern and face them in a battle for 1st. I beat Milan 2-0 and hammered BATE 5-0. Hopefully, I can maintain that momentum and top Bayern
Aguero already has 15 goals in 10 games while Balotelli and Dzeko have 10 goals between them. Silva has 8 assists and is simply amazing. Milner, Barry, Yaya, and De Jong have solidifed my midfield.
Only disappointment has been Nasri. The guy has played OK, but has been hurt twice on international duty. Serves him right for being such a mercenary lolComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
While you're right that he will just decline, he's still been pretty good. He even scored 5 or so goals off set-pieces for me last season, which is amazing since he really doesn't score that much in a season IRL.Comment
