Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Played most of the weekend when I could and I have had an absolute disastrous start. Started my career with Chelsea. Blasted through the pre-season winning games around 5-0. Probably one of the best pre-seasons I have ever had in FM so heading into the start of the season I felt great.
Community Shield game - I was up 3-0 in just 15 minutes against City.... couldn't believe it. By the 60th minute it was 3-3. Fortunately won on PKs.
Reading to kick off. Up 2-0 and disaster strikes. A PK followed shortly by an own goal and game ends 2-2. A disappointing start. This follows to a 0-4-1 start. Had two 0-0 games and all of a sudden I can't put the ball into the back of net despite having several clear cut chances. Opening round for me of the CapitalOne Cup and it's Tottenham. Win this 1-0 despite going down to 10 men. After that, the next two games I go down to 10 men. One of them being a 4-0 demolition of me in the CL against Augsburg. Next up was Liverpool which are 3rd and a must win in a way. Oscar puts in 2 and I'm able to hold out 2-0 but... Torres goes out. 2-3 months with a torn hamstring. Huge loss as I have no one to replace him and Sturridge loves to absolutely strike the ball every time he gets a touch from wherever he is.
I was going to buy a striker in the January transfer window anyway but now I'm scrambling to get someone in here. After much negotiation I've been able to get a deal for Benzema for €45m. Now just have to survive until January.
Come back Drogba!
Maybe Sturridge surprises me... we'll see. Mata, Oscar and Hazard are really going to have to step up now.Comment

15 game unbeaten, longest run I've ever had, especially playing with mid table Serie B Cittadella. Of course, just by mentioning this will have the FM gods strike me down and I'll be canned by spring.Comment

I'm in that boat too. Every game that I actually manage in FM I get tunnel vision and only sub 1 or 2 players max. I find that letting the Assistant Manager do those games gets my team more fitness in general going into the season.badComment

I let my assistant do them. I don't really like the matches honestly. I'm more about the transfers and business side of it.

This game is such a cruel mistress, 2/6/2 in my last 10 fixtures. I went from a comfortable 1st to 3rd. It looks I'll playing in the Promotion Playoffs again.
