FM12 save with Man City. Win on Final Day of season and I win Premier League. Leroy Lita decides to play like an elite striker for Swansea while Kompany decides to play like an imbecile. Game over. Damn you FM. And I just got fired. Damn it.

Bit mental but I'm extremely thankful for it! 5 of my 7 losses were by 1 goal, the other 2 were 2 goal losses. Compare that to 12 of my wins being by 3 or more goals.Comment

Had a decent European run with Portadown in 16/17. Beat Zeljeznicar (Bosnia) 5-4 on aggregate in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League before going out to Dinamo (Croatia) 5-3. If you get knocked out in the 3rd qualifying round you get to go into the Europa League playoff, but ended up losing to Club Brugge (Belgium) 3-1. Got a healthy sum of money for it!Comment

I've gone through a bit of a rough patch at Karlsruhe and find myself mid-table through three months. FM has clearly got it's hooks in me again, because I was planning a tactical change during a particularly boring work meeting.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So whenever I look to sign players, I almost always sign on personality + skills. My first save I learned all of this the hard way, but I coach the team, as though I were the coach. I've seen multiple tip guides for situational team talks, and how to "get the most out of your team" whether through exploitation, or what-have-you.
I noticed that players with a "determined" personality always end up adoring me(story later in this post, hopefully I don't ramble too long). Therefore I only really sign players who have determination as one of their qualities, though I also take "sporting" "ambitious" "resilient" and "Iron Willed" Due to this, I noticed the other day, I perhaps have one of the most ethnically diverse teams I've seen. In my first team(18 players) the ones that aren't Danes(In the Superliga) are from England, Finland, France, Guinea-Bissau, Netherlands(2), Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, Spain, Syria, Canada, Austria and Argentina. Amongst my youth/reserve/loaned out players I can add Belgium, Portugal, Senegal, Turkey, Bosnia and Faroe Islands. Is everyone else this diverse, or am I really weird?
So a cool little story, One of my first signings at Nordvest was this kid Anthony Bentem from Holland, he came in, and played well with my other central defender Dominic Geuskens, but for whatever reason(I liked Geuskens better) Bentem was just getting team after team calling about him Inquiring, etc. I held onto him for two years, and watched him develop nicely, he was a player that I was definitely going to steal if I moved to a new club. Well it was time to negotiate a new contract for him. I get into contract negotiations, and I get the worst one, where the agent sits back and says make me an offer, so I'm cool, I offer him essentially the same deal I offered Geuskens, five years, ~18k, 20% YR, 25% profit from sale, and nice Goal/TOTY bonuses, the agent rejects, and closes negotiations, So I end up selling him back to Holland, to Ajax for 13.5M(I purchased him for 2.5M so a nice turnaround) Immediately after, I get this email story about Bentem expressing his disappointment about having to leave me. Which I thought was cool, the next day I get an email that he left his agent. siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Started my career game at Mirandela (Portuguese Second Division North). Signed a 37-year-old striker (who has scored 7 goals in 11 appearances. I don't care how old he is, he's doing his job), as well as a central midfielder and central defender to shore up my first team (and explode the wage budget, but eh). Go undefeated in my first six matches (4 wins, 2 draws). I think I'm doing grande.
But what's that problem with the lower leagues....depth, depth, depth.
And when FM wants to be bring you back down a notch, you will only lose two players to sickness, and four other players to injury. We lose four straight matches including a 7-1 shallacking to my parent club Chaves. Fans are questioning my 4-1-2-2-1 (what do they know) and morale has sunk to Titantic depths.
Thankfully though, I'm starting to get a few players back and I got a draw and a win to bolster the club up a bit. Maybe we'll be okay.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just had my best match on FM in a while.
Arsenal (me) - Chelsea
22 - shots - 8
15 - on target - 6
49% - Possession - 51%
7 - Fouls - 20
Final score? 7-1 Arsenal. Oxlade-Chamberlain had a hat trick. Season 1 - I didn't bring any players in, and the only big name that I noticed Chelsea had grabbed was ben Arfa.
Unfortunately the Champions League games start soon. My group? Arsenal (of course), Celtic, Benfica, and Juventus. Blah.Last edited by ubernoob; 11-15-2012, 02:31 PM.badComment
