Go undefeated in my first six matches (4 wins, 2 draws). I think I'm doing grande.

But what's that problem with the lower leagues....depth, depth, depth.

And when FM wants to be bring you back down a notch, you will only lose two players to sickness, and four other players to injury. We lose four straight matches including a 7-1 shallacking to my parent club Chaves. Fans are questioning my 4-1-2-2-1 (what do they know) and morale has sunk to Titantic depths.

Thankfully though, I'm starting to get a few players back and I got a draw and a win to bolster the club up a bit. Maybe we'll be okay.
I just finished my first season managing the same club and like yourself I certainly didn't find it easy. I didn't start as well as you did but was pretty safe near the halfway stage until I had similar problems and went on an absolutely horrible run of 1 win in my next 15 games. Narrowly avoided relegation thanks to a lucky last day win but I decided to cut my losses and get out of there. I'm now looking for another bottom tier team to take me on but it's not looking great as not even Whitehawk in the Blue Square South (who I had never heard of) will touch me after my dismal first season. Looks like i'll be waiting for a casualty in the sack race for me to get back in somewhere around Europe.

Anyway, good luck with the rest of your season, hope it goes better than mine!

My issue with the lower level teams is just straight bonehead play by my players on the defensive side. I can find very solid strikers, but defensive play is atrocious for me.

I've had the same problem. I've never seen defenders play as badly as my Karlsruhe defenders. It's like someone told them the best way to defend is let the opposing player run by them and hope his shot will miss. But the same is true for the AI defenders, so it can be overcome.

I enjoy the lower level teams though because I feel you have to be a bit more of a tactic manager as far as specific player instructions and the like. When I'm using a quality team I'm usually comfortable with just letting them play a more open, creative, and free flowing game.

Moussa Dembélé having a fantastic start to the season for me, has 1 goal and 7 assists in 12 games. So, what happens? Torn hamstring, out 2~3 months. What a cruel game

My FM 2012 save corrupted, I broke down and bought 13. Is there a way with the editor that I can make the players like me right off the bat? I don't exist in the database, therefore I cannot include myself using the Editor. I manage international teams so I built everything up in the previous edition, now my guys in 13 won't answer the phone and it's frustrating (and yes...I understand this is sorta bizarre request!)

By "won't answer the phone" do you mean they don't respond well to your team talks? Have you tried giving yourself international experience?

                    I do. Maybe it's because I'm American?

I guess what I'm asking is, can you edit your own profile using the editor?

This game seriously raises my blood pressure more than my wife buying christmas presents in July

For clarification purposes, I've moved on from Nordvest to Port Vale in League 2. Facing Oxford in the battle of the unbeaten streaks, Mine at 12, theirs at 17, We go up 3-0 by HT, with 1 minute + injury to go, it's 3-2, WHEN THE FOURTH OFFICIAL SAYS THERE IS 2 MINUTES OF INJURY TIME AND THE OPPONENT SCORES IN THE NINETY FOURTH $#*&ING MINUTE, I GET A LITTLE IRATE.

No, because you have to do your edits before you start a save.

You can, however, edit staff using the third-party FMRTE editor. I've never used this editor, but I don't believe it will achieve what you are looking for. There is no "make players like you" attribute. It initially comes down to your experience and reputation vs. the level you are playing at. So if you have Sunday league experience but are managing Arsenal, the players won't listen to you. However, if you can gain the players' trust and loyalty by winning with them they'll start to come around.

Also, you being American shouldn't matter, unless you haven't yet learned the language your players speak. For example, your team talks won't go well at first if you don't speak German but that's the only language your players understand. But in FM, your manager eventually learns the language if he stays in the country long enough.

                          So, I got Cardiff promoted.

And now the Board President is crying poor. I only was given 10 million to improve the team...to avoid relegation.

                          Please, other job, open up.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't really think about languages...perhaps I'll let the native assistant take over those early!

I liked FMRTE but I'm pretty sure that's what corrupted my 12 save.

Alright. I'm doing some testing and putting together a future regen file to use OSers. I would like everyone that plays to do this, because... well... VIRTUAL BRAGGING RIGHTS IN EVERY FM SAVE, BRO!

I'm doing some testing before I release it (to make sure it works correctly, etc.). If you would like to assist me in this testing just send me a PM (don't care what the topic of it is) with it formatted like this.

"FUTURE_REGEN" "First" "Common" "Surname" "DD-MM-YYY" "Nationality" "Favorite Club"

                              For instance, mine is...

"FUTURE_REGEN" "Jared" "Jared Shaw [or Ubernoob if we wanna do it like that]" "Shaw" "22-12-1987" "United States [I believe, one of the testing things]" "Liverpool"

I'll let you decide if you want to leave the common name blank, or put in your nickname. Common Name for Javier Hernandez would be Chicharito, just so we're all on the same page as to how it works. Favorite club doesn't mean you'll appear for them as a regen, either.

Do people stick with the same tactics around here, or do they experiment, I was yelled at on another forum for using "weird" tactics, and I've approached another one. It's a 3-3-2-2 RB, CB, LB, WB, DM, WB, AML, AMR, STC, STC. It's been quite effective as I've just won League 2 with Port Vale.
