Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
My Argentina World Cup run ended in the Final against France.
I finished second in Group G behind Ukraine with a record of 1 win and 2 draws. Messi fractured his ribs in the 2nd game against South Korea, so he missed the rest of the tournament. I was drawn against Brazil in the second round, ended up winning 2-1 with Maxi Rodriguez goal in the 90th. Got Ivory Coast in the Quarters and beat them 4-3 on PKs in a 0-0 game. Played Mexico in the Semi's and beat them 9-8 in PKs in a 1-1 game, Mexico equalized in the 87th.
Played France in the Final (with 3 players out due to either injuries or suspensions). Aguero got me off to a quick 2-0 lead with goals in the 4th and 10th minute. Benzema answered back in the 17th, and Ben Arfa scored just before half time so it was 2-2 going into the 2nd. Back and forth 2nd half with lots of chances for both sides, Benzema ended up scoring in the 85th.
Now I'm just getting ready for Copa America and World Cup Qualifying.Blind to this impending fate

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
When I took over Espanyol, they were in 16th. At the end of the year I brought them up to 11th (not great, but not too bad either). Here's a quick rundown of my transfers in/out so far, although I don't think I'm done; I want to cut down my squad by 3-4 players as I'm not in the UCL or Europa League and don't need the extra players.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I decided to start with Liverpool. I had an Arsenal game, but thought I'd try something different. That and I am a big Torres fan.
My pre-season was rocky to say the least. I sold Aurelio, Riera, Intande, Kuyt, Lucas, Arbeloa to start. Then I sold Alonso because Real Madrid offered a tremendous sum and he went. Mascherano got mad when I rejected an offer from Madrid again and I sold him but brought in Gago under a loan deal with a future fee.
Skrtel then got upset because I sold Mascherano and when I told him who was boss, he handed in a transfer request and sold him to Citeh....
So after all the drama, I did re-tool the squad. I brought in Saivet, Paloschi, Alexis Sanchez, and Veloso. In addition, I brought in my old favorites in Beevers, Mattock, and Fleck to develop.
After the money from the transfers, I funded my biggest moves by signing Ashley Young to replace Riera and Alan Dzagoev to be my midfielder of the future....To top it off I signed Eden Hazard, who was recommended by one of my scouts.
The problem with Liverpool is that they don't have a lot of homegrown talent so I focused on getting English players and young players to meet the requirements. I have Gareth Bale and Walcott on my shortlist as players to target next.
In my season, I am 1st place in November with 2 draws against Chelsea and Arsenal being my only blemishes. I trounced Man United 3-0 and got taken over by one of the other board members.
Will post a screenie. About the only bad thing is that Dzagoev is out for 3-4 months and Gerrard got hurt too only for 3 weeks lolComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Won the Champions League(first time ever)
and the Premier League(3rd straight title) double.
Mario Balotelli was the player of year. Had 32 goals and 14 assists on the season
And were finally leaving Loftus Road, as the board has decided to build a new stadium(39,000 plus seater.)
I'll post screens later.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, sticking with a relatively deep squad (23 "playable" players) was probably a good decision after this nightmare of a past 10 days. Even though I drew 1-1 against a very solid Sevilla team, which I was pretty pleased with, the injuries suffered were absolutely awful and now my clash against Recreativo in a mere 3 days will be quite interesting.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
How did I not win?The referee was on crack for that 3 minute interval there where he issued a penalty then 2 red cards. 11 v 9 and I only can scrape a draw. FML. At least there is still the second leg...

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Wow. That's just brutal....
I had to restart my save as Liverpool since the game crashed and my save became corrupted....This might be even better since a consortium is taking over my club and I was much more efficient in the transfer market. This is who I have right now:
GK: Reina
DR: Glen Johnson
DC: Carragher
DC: Chiellini
DL: Bale
DMC: Veloso
MC: Gerrard
MR: Sanchez
ML: Young
FC: Torres
FC: Paloschi
Subs:
Lung Jr.
Mattock
Agger
Xabi Alonso
N'Gog
Babel
Beevers
Torres is on fire right now....easily one of the best strikers in this game.Comment

Added screens to my previous post
anyways the European Championships(2016) with England struggled through the group stage and beat Belgium in the quarters, meet Italy in the semis and,
Which led to the final vs France starting lineups were,
Unfortunately we were over matched, injuries finally caught up with us.
Stayed on with England to the next World Cup.Comment
