I had an away game against a struggling Chelsea and won 4-1 with 4 goals from Danny Welbeck.

I might as well stop playing cause I’ve just peaked playing FM.

i hope it gets better when I get better players because holy ****, the back pass to GK becoming an own goal is infuriating.

Just finished year 8 in my Journeyman save, a full 5 years at Platanias FC in Greece! We finished 3rd again, and I think have really solidified ourselves in the tier right below Olympiacos and PAOK, who have been at the top the last 3 seasons.

After a disappointing Europa League campaign last year (crashed out in the 4th Qualifying Round), we made the group stage for the 2nd time in the last 3 years! The first year was very much a "we're just happy to be here" vibe. But I was really motivated to get out of our group this year, and I thought we could do it. In the end, we almost got there, but came up just short. The group stage money was very welcome, however!

          I feel like I'm at a bit of a plateau here. The last 3 years I've finished 4th, 3rd, and 3rd.

I may start looking around for other opportunities. At this point, I'm looking to move into one of the "major" leagues (Germany, Italy, France, or Spain. I made a rule at the start of the save not to go to England).

Buuuut, I'd really like to make a run in the Europa League, it would be fun to win a league title, and I actually have some really promising young players who could develop into a really great core in the next year or two. So, I definitely feel like there is more to accomplish here.

I'm about to get my Continental B license right now, so some offers may start rolling in from those bigger clubs. I don't think I'll go out actively looking, but if a mid-table club in one of those bigger leagues comes calling, I think it will be tough to say no.

          edit:

Just got this in my inbox

That's gotta be a good sign to be invited by a club like Ajax. Others in Europe are noticing me. Woo!

I think I’ve spent more time testing new tactics that comes into my head every 10 mins instead of doing a long save

              My first trophy!

You never forget your first. I'll cherish it forever, I'm sure. I don't care that it's a preseason friendly tournament, damnit!

However, I'm very bitter that it did not get added to the "Competition Wins" section on my history. Lol

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Juventus came calling, I interviewed, and got to the part where I go through all the backroom changes and I just don't think I'll be leaving Viborg unless it's for Arsenal. Into my 9th year at Viborg, and it's still only looking up.

Speaking of, I'm in a frustrating Arsenal-like position. My teams are very good, generally, I'm able to poach the good Danish talent, as well becoming a funnel into the "Big 5" for African, Scandinavian, and Eastern European talent. My teams are good enough that I'm able to pull away in the league and have won it four times in a row, and 5 of the last 6(first title was more of a fluke, but it counts) we also are fairly capable of getting out of the group stage of the Champions League, but there's no way we'll win it. I want to drop down to Europa from the Group Stage, but I can't bring myself to intentionally do that because I think that I could walk most of the Europa League.

Speaking again of Arsenal, Niko Kovac walked after two years on the job, I was rumoured to be the leading candidate, however I was never interviewed, and Vitor Pereira took the job with Arsenal, for the first time in the game as well, Arsenal is not qualified for any European Competition. It's gonna be an interesting job if they ever give it to me.

I'm paying the price dearly right now, I was pretty adamant about going for the Arsenal gig, then got caught up in the Juventus speculation which led to me simming more, and not executing ANY of my off-season programs. I did no player evaluations, I did no loan destination evaluations, I did no staff evaluations, we played 4 friendlies very close together before the start of the season. I didn't get the team up to familiarity, I accidentally left myself without a quality right back after selling last years starter so now I'm starting an 18-year old, to go with my midfielders of 16, 17, 22, and 27. It's September, and thankfully the overall talent of the team means that we're still in first place, and still doing well, but the results certainly are not up to par with what they should be. We're also one loss away from 5th place.

The last time I get caught up in job speculation, yikes.

I've gone back to my first save of the year. It was a journeyman, and currently at St. Pats in Ireland. We had qualified for the CL by winning the league the previous season, before I stopped playing the save.

Just about to go into a big game against Basel in the 3rd qualifying round.

We didn't play a single league game in the month of August, and now have five games in hand in the league.

And for our trouble of getting knocked outed of the UCL, we get this group in the EL. I predict a 4th place finish.

However, we may now be the richest club in Ireland with 5M in the bank. We got 2.xM for getting knocked out of the UCL. And we got 2.xM for taking part in the EL group stage. Plus I'm pretty sure well get around 1-2M of the TV money come the end of the tournaments. But I probably wont be here then.

Nothing worse than trying a possession based tactic in LLM save, but one misplaced pass leads to CPU countering with a long ball and an easy goal.

                            So, this happened...

My contract expires in 14 days. We drew Marseille in the first knockout round. But that isn't played until Feb. And I know we will lose to them. The only reason we got through, and the only reason we beat Dortmund, is they slept on that game and played a full B/C squad. We got lucky. We should have lost and Rijeka should have went through.

I've been getting an insane amount of interview offers. I've never had so many before. I've declined a lot of them. But I've done a handful. No one has actually approached me though. It seems the ones I want always go with someone else. So I'm probably going to just have to take a random one of these offers I know I will get.
