Does anybody know of the latest (as in most current to today) you can begin a new save in this game and what country you have to load to do it? I can get to January 2013, which is pretty good...I just want to start during this actual summer using an updated database.
For you American FM fans, I really recommend this US and Canada expansion pack: it has all of the leagues from MLS down to NCAA and US Development.

Anyone had an issue like this?
I had a player demand a transfer, and whenever I (try to) go talk to him, FM crashes. I tried it with a few other players, and I can go talk to them just fine, but whenever I try to talk to the one who demanded the transfer, crash...University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Another (probably stupid) question.
It seems that all my players' current and potential abilities have gone down a half star. I noticed it because I used to have 3 guys with 5 star potential, but now they are 4.5 star potentials.
At first I thought they had all just taken a downturn in training or something, but it seems to have happened to the entire team.

That happens because your team as a whole has gotten better so the players who were going to be great in your old team lose some of the level in your new and improved teamComment

That's not the reason in this case, though. It's because of the assistant manager building more knowledge of the square, so his advice and ratings become more accurate (with a margin of error depending on how good or bad his own stats are).Comment

Another note about those ratings is that sometimes you just have to completely ignore them, lol. I have a holding MF on my Southampton squad who I brought over from Millwall that consistently rates 7.5 and up in the Ball Winning Midfielder role, who rates as a 2-star player.
I don't have the game in front of me, so I can't comment on them specifically. But generally if a player is in the last year of their contract, you shouldn't expect to get much of anything for them. Same if they are overpaid relative to their skill. I let guys like this go cheap or on frees if I have to because if I'm paying a guy $75,000 a week, and he's not in my plans, I save $3.9 million/year in salary alone. I'd rather do that than worry about getting a transfer fee for him if the market isn't there.
Another alternative is to try and send them out on loan each season until their contract is up. Try and get the other team to pay as much of the salary as possible or negotiate a monthly fee. You can also try and get a future fee clause in there and hope they activate it.
In a lot of cases getting rid of a player for cheap>>>>>paying their wages and having them be annoying and unhappy.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-09-2013, 04:18 PM.Comment
