Fabregas will just be going to sit on the bench with Xavi and Iniesta playing. As long as if we don't sign Robert Green then it's all good. I'd say, if Barcelona give us 40 million + Hleb + Chrgysky or whatever his name is then that will be alright. Barca payed 20 million for Hleb and he only played 7 times in 2 years

i agree with you to a certain extent. But he is a good player, and i think he has learnt from his mistake of going to that P.O.S. called Barcelona. I would much rather get Gourcuff so he and Chamakh can link up againComment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Well Cesc is putting his future in Wenger's hands....I'm sure he probably told Wenger he wanted to go to Barca and he probably was told a big NO. Wenger then said that if he was offered 50 million for Cesc, then he'd let him leave.
Cesc was probably told that unless Arsenal get what they want, he's not going anywhere and that's why he's not saying much except the "I respect Arsenal, Wenger, and the fans" kind of stuff
I hope he stays, but if not, I'd be OK with Gourcuff. I reminded myself that no one is bigger than the club and Arsenal will move on - with or without CescComment

I just can't get over how slimeballish (made up word alert) Laporta and Barcelona FC as whole are. I respect the style they play but I can't say I respect the club."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

More and more each day I'm starting to believe that Cesc will be with us next year. Really, really wishful thinking, but unless Barcelona put in an astronomical bid, I don't think we'll sell. Plus, I don't think they can afford what we'll demand.Comment

I like Barca, but not as much as I love Arsenal rsn, so that's why I want him to stay
Arsenal do not have to sell....they are a well run squad and Wenger will be under no pressure to sell. Cesc can tell him he wants to leave, but with a long-term contract, he doesn't have as much leverage as people think. Plus, Barca likely wouldn't be able to afford the 50 million+ Wenger MIGHT sell him forComment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
You've got 3 defenders out of contract come July 1. Gallas, Silvestre and Campbell. Do Arsenal want any of them back? I know Arsenal have said Gallas wants a ridiculous amount of money but does that mean that's it or are they trying to work something out? I see Campbell is being looked at by Celtic and Silvestre, I don't think his phone will ring very much.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I think the only one with a chance of coming back is Sol. It looks like he's trying to use interest from Celtic as leverage to get a better/longer contract out of Wenger. If Sol wants more than a one-year deal and/or significant playing time, he might as well sign with Celtic now.
Also, don't forget about Djourou returning. Can't count on him to start, especially early in the season, coming back from a major knee injury. But he does provide a little depth assuming Wenger signs an established CB to regularly pair with Vermaelen. If that happens, plus re-signing Campbell, they'd have four CBs plus kids (Nordveit back from loan in Bundesliga?)...Comment

I really hope Sol decides to stay. He's shown that while he might slightly be losing physical attributes, his mental ones are stronger than ever, something the squad definitely needs.Comment

I would like 2 CB's brought in next season. I'm sure Wenger will bring in one good CB for sure to partner TV5."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

It was all in fun. I know you're a Gunner fan first and foremost.
Gallas and Silvestre seem like a certain to be playing in another kit next season. I thought Sol would hang around but it looks as though playing for a team like Arsenal isn't as important to him as he let on which is not surprising given his past.

What about Alex Song? Or is he more suited to the defensive midfield role now?Comment
