Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***

Just finished watching the game, and I am loving Walcott at the moment. Can he start every game please (unless he drastically cools off)?

Almunia made some brilliant saves, but almost got beat trying to punch the ball in the second half. He hadn't really been challenged much this season, as all goals scored against were really ones he couldn't have saved, but tonight he was a big factor in the Arsenal win.

As usual with the Gunners, their goals were brilliant, beautiful football, and hopefully they can keep this up. They had some lulls, but overall they played well.

Keep in mind as well that this was with Nasri out of the lineup, although Bolton has looked horrible this year.

Sheffield United are getting absolutely demolished right now. 2 goals from both Bendtner and Vela, and a goal from Wilshere and still about a half hour to go.

6-0 and a hat trick from Vela!

Just got back from the game. Brillant show by Vela and Bendtner. Arsenal controlled the entire match and the crowd was electric.

Was my first non friendly game at Emirates and it was well worth the wait.

          Poor, poor Sheff. United

Nice win over Bolton on the weekend, dazzling at times although a bit inconsistent. The age old Arsenal can't defend set-pieces issue appears to be alive and well which worries me, especially in Europe where the referees typically are stricter than in the PL.

Great to see (well read about anyways) the youngsters thrashing of Sheffield Utd in CC. Hard to believe the average age of the squad was under 20 and were facing quite the experienced lot. Heck, Gary Speed could have been the father of practically every Gunner on the pitch... I wonder if the reserves dismantling of SU will give the first-teamers a little extra incentive to strut their stuff against Hull?

And what about Platini's remarks about Wenger? Whenever a contentious football issue came up in the interview, Platini basically blamed it on Wenger. I know we don't have the full context, but it sure seemed like a personal thing. I was surprised he didn't blame Arsene for the French capitulation in WWII...

PS -- Anyone else not able to view the Arseblog? I get the Ole Ole banner and a blank screen...

I was able to view the Arseblog earlier, but now it's not loading. They posted a video of the goals, Vela's a ****ing stud.

Personally (I'm a huge Vela homer, so I'm biased) but I'd rather see us try and sell Van Persie to whoever will take him, and have Vela play alongside Adebayor and Bendtner. Vela's a star in the making, he's got great pace, he's strong and he doesn't go down easily on challenges. He has the toughness we need up front, RVP doesn't go into challenges anymore because of his injury problems and defensively Adebayor is only good for corners and headers. Vela can track back and make tackles if needed (he played winger at Osasuna all last season).

He's a special talent, I just hope Wenger plays him enough so that he stays with Arsenal.

Imagine how awesome it was for me to be about 20 yards away from his spectacular 2nd goal.

I got to see Vela live at the Mexico/Argentina game.

But your experience was way better.

I agree I see a lot of potential in Vela, he positions himself very well, better than Walcott at times and I really see him being a great Striker (not winger). I am sure Wenger will try his best to keep his interest, I expect to see him play against Hull.

That's a tough defeat to swallow. Gallas with another mistake defending a set piece. It's time to rotate Djourou in for Gallas. And RvP needs to sort himself out, he missed 2 or 3 decent chances and can't get a fk over the wall.

Sheesh...Nothing really positive to come off after that one. Chalk this one up to too much rest for the 1st teamers? Dropped to fourth in the standings is a huge heartbreaker. Need a big win on Tuesday now.

Lost to a team that barely escaped relegation and a promotion team. Wenger is fast becoming a punch line.

I just watched the game, and they had chance after chance after chance and couldn't score. Gallas missed a header of the crossbar, which hurt. Walcott made some poor decisions near the box. The first goal was a beautiful shot from 27 out, and there's not much Arsenal should have done about it. The second, however, was Gallas missing coverage, absolutely terrible.

Arsenal should have had at least 4 goals, and they should not have lost. I'm shocked.
