Rough couple of weeks for the Gooners. At least the league is still in play -that could have easily been out of reach by now too. I'm pulling for you to take it.

I know the Daily Mail isn't what you would call reliable news but is this legit? Are you re-signing Jens Lehmann?
Arsenal ready to seal shock return for Jens Lehmann as former keeper prepares to sign emergency dealArsene Wenger is on the brink of handing Jens Lehmann an extraordinary comeback at Arsenal. The German legend, 41, retired at the end of last season but he is ready to return to the game to solve the Gunners' goalkeeping crisis.
EDIT: Sky has picked up on the story. He's already in London working on getting his coaching badges.Last edited by ~LiverpoolRed~; 03-14-2011, 12:12 PM.Comment

What in the world? Just to back up, right?Comment

He's apparently actually been with the team while getting his coaching badges. I'm sure he'd be a back up, but I'd love to see his crazy *** on the field. He certainly wouldn't let people crowd around him and disrupt him on set pieces.Comment

Loved when he had to pee during a game and jumped over the advertising hoardings.

I could be crazy, but in a way, our defense needs someone with his mentality. He's not going to put up with anything and will definitely physically command his area. However, he's nuts and also has his best playing days behind him.Comment

I would love to see Jens signed.
Its not like there will be very many options at a time like this."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
After calming down quite frankly after a horrid 2 weeks for my team, I'm starting to feel human again lol
I love that we'll sign Jens. He's 41, but there's no one else out there right now. He will at least add some experience to the mix. On the article in the Guardian, I completely agree with the assessment
I remember there was talk of Vieira coming back last season. I was disappointed that he went to City instead because he's exactly the player we need right now. We all know he's not in his prime, but his leadership, experience, and winning mentality would all be huge boosts right now.
Wenger needs to stop shopping for bargains and add some real quality this summer. Kids are nice to develop, but we need personnel to help win now. RVP is 27, Rosicky 29, Nasri and Cesc are both 23. Vermaelen, Koscielny, Sagna, and Eboue are mid to late 20's.
This is not a youth team anymore. These are guys who have been playing top level football for 5 years now. Sign someone with quality who can help them - not rif raff. Chamakh was decent, but Squillaci's the prime example of a cheap signing. It's not like he doesn't have money to bring in a keeper like Lloris or a ball winning midfielder.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I agree 100% with what you said perceptor. This isn't a young team anymore, these guys have had ample time to prove that they belong in this side. We need to bring in some quality players while shipping some lesser quality players out.
And yes, we have quite a few guys that aren't quality guys. Yet, people still make the case that they're young. It must be a stigma with regards to how Arsene has ran the club for the last 5 or so years. Bottom line is these guys aren't young anymore."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Random and hilarious quote from The Guardian's Rumor Mill...
Of course, those same fans might still not mind were it not for the suspicion that the club will only go and blow all that extra money on the likes of Sébastien Squillaci, a man who is now known to represent a 74% reduction in standards from any other player.Comment

Our squad for today...
Almunia, Sagna, Squillaci ,Koscielny, Clichy, Denilson, Ramsey, Wilshere, Arshavin, Nasri, RVP.
So glad to see Ramsey and Wilshere starting in midfield. I have a feeling if we get three points today, they'll play a huge role.Comment
