      not good i guarrantee it

he's never been a very popular player with the crowd because of the tantrams and when compared to Tony he's a **** captain, we expect a blood and gut , die for the cause kind of captain not some fancy dan, put it this way not many at Arsenal felt Henry was a good captain and he was arguably one of the best 3 players in the world. I d give it to Cesc but i dont think he'll be here next season unless we buy big in January

expect Wenger to offload Galas to france this season and pick up some 17 year old defender as replacement lol

It's supposed to be Almunia with the armband today. I hope this is only for today's game. I really hate the armband being on a goalkeeper. Especially now with this new respect the ref program. Only the captain's can speak to the ref. So what is Almunia going to run the length of the pitch everytime the ref needs a word? I think Fabregas is our best bet at skipper. Shows so much passion whe he plays, unlike Gallas who sits on the pitch and cries when we drop points to Birmingham. He'll be gone in January.

Pretty sure it's common in Europe that you show high respect for your elders. Maybe Gallas was just fed up with the lack of respect, not as a footballer but as a person. I think he could have waited to leave the club before he said anything though.

I don't have much to celebrate so when we get a W, I get a little too happy. Plus, being against Arsenal, just makes it that much better.

That has been the worst two matches I've seen out of Arsenal since I've been a fan. Just no heart and really not that much developed talent on the pitch to expect to win matches.

The injury time goal we gave up at the end of the half was laughable. Silvestre and Clichy were very poor today. SIlvestre I'm not surprised but CLichy had the worst game I think I have ever seen him play. Pretty bad when you get outplayed by Darius Vassell.

Gallas in contention for Champion's League.

William Gallas is in contention to figure in Arsenal's game against Dynamo Kiev, but will not captain the team.
The French defender's future at the Emirates Stadium has become a hot topic of debate after his public criticism of his team-mates in midweek.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger left Gallas out of his squad for Saturday's defeat at Manchester City and stripped the 31-year-old of the captaincy.
Wenger declined to comment on the former Chelsea defender's situation after the 3-0 loss at the City of Manchester Stadium, but chairman Peter Hill-Wood has backed whatever action the manager decides to take.
Gallas trained with the rest of the first-team squad on Sunday ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League tie at home to Dynamo.
Sky Sports News understands the centre-half will be considered for selection for that game, but will not skipper the side.
Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia was given the armband against City, while full-back Gael Clichy is reportedly another candidate for the role.

                        oh ye of little faith

the trouble with a young team is fragile confidence they need to lean on experience and our two biggest (arguably) players Cesc and Adi were unavailable. Cesc is the biggest miss the difference in the team is staggering without him

But miss out on 4th spot lol your nuts, Villa have never been this high in years the team has no experience and have yet to hit a bad run of form or play all the big teams, Arsenal are playing terrrible and have 4 or 5 first team players out and are trailing by a massive unclimbable 1 POINT with 24 games to go.

                        GET A GRIP

                          Fabregas Named New Captain!

                          From BBC

Arsenal have named Cesc Fabregas as their new captain, replacing defender William Gallas on a permanent basis.
Gallas, 31, was stripped of the captaincy for Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City following controversial comments about his team-mates.
But Wenger revealed the Frenchman will play in the Champions League against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.
Wenger said: "Fabregas will be the captain, permanently. I do not have to explain to you why." <!-- E SF -->
Gallas was widely criticised for publicly accusing some team-mates of in-fighting, insulting behaviour and lacking bravery.
His captaincy has been under scrutiny since a game against Birmingham last season when he kicked an advertising hoarding and remained on the pitch for several minutes following the final whistle after Arsenal conceded a late leveller.
He was left out of the squad for Saturday's humbling defeat and forced to train on his own in London, but was back in the fold for Sunday's training session and is set to win back his place in the side.
"Gallas will play on Tuesday, but Cesc will be the captain, I have made that decision," said Wenger.
Asked if he thought he had made a mistake over the appointment of Gallas, he said: "No, I do not regret making him captain in the first place." <!-- E BO -->

I'm not surprised he would be named captain, he is a vital person to the team. I just think overall that Arsenal has had a bad luck season so far. Look at the Man City game, the lineup was the weakest I have seen from them. I won't say they are not going to make the Champions League but we shall see what happens, December is a pretty important month for them they can't drop a lot of points that month.

On other news Poldoski wants to leave, can you see him fitting into Arsenal's team? Personally I didn't really like him too much, but seeing his play in the Euro's this year I was impressed but he could just be one of those players who show up for country and not club, should be interesting.

I'm sorry, but 31 to 25 (and possibly even 31 to 20) is not a case of cultural respect for elders, as those players are peers/colleagues. Think about it -- I'm 29, would I go to a 23 or 24 year old at my job and say "you have to listen to me, I'm older than you!"??? The majority of people of I work with are 25+ years my elder and they treat me as an equal since we work together trying to achieve the same goal. I think this is the part of the equation that is missed by Mr. Gallas...

At least they won. As much as I've harped on Bendtner's play of late, that was a great chest-down & finish on a dead sprint. Great ball to start the play by the newly-minted captain!
