Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***

I don't really think Adebayor is committed to Arsenal, I think he'll leave in the summer.

That would mean our lineup would look like this:

    ----------------GK----------------
    ----------------Back 4------------
    Walcott---Denilson---Cesc---Nasri
    --------------------Arshavin------
    -----------Van Persie-------------

I'm still hopeful we'll get Guillermo Ochoa or Igor Akinfeev in the summer and a central defender.
    Blind to this impending fate
We let the world carry our weight
It's back breaks with every mile
But we all live in denial

Ochoa would be awesome. Less awesome is the fact that now the FA is saying they may invalidate the deal because it happened after the window closed. According to Gunnerblog, the FA says it's 50/50 at this point. And yet again the saga turns.

Here's the actual quote posted on the Gunnerblog --

The FA’s Director of Communications, Adrian Bevington, has spoken to the Russian media about the Andrei Arshavin deal:

“Yes, it’s true, the transfer is in doubt. There is a chance it will take us 2-3 days. The odds are 50/50. If the transfer is declared invalid, Arshavin will be returned to Zenit. We can’t rule this out. I don’t think that would be a severe ruling: both clubs had a lot of time to complete it during the window.”
Un-friggin-believable! The waiting is indeed the hardest part, Mr. Petty...

Thanks. I can't believe I forgot to post the quote. And since no other transfers happened other than Cesc, Rosicky and Eduardo, if Arshavin's out, that's it.

It's official, I guess. Who knows anymore... Arshavin himself says he's not fit and that it's up to Wenger to decide if he plays against Sp*rs on Sunday. Remember, it's the off-season for the Russian league, so it was expected that it might take him a little time to be ready. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench...

Yeah, he was given the #23, welcome to the Gunners Arshavin! I don't expect him to start immediately either, but I hope it will take him some to adjust to both Arsenal and the Premier League....lets hope it doesn't take him too long. We shall see by the end of the season, too bad he can't play Champion League games though.

Great read & save by Almunia in stoppage time on Modric to save the point. While it's hard to objectively say that an away draw in a derby match playing with 10 men for the majority of the game is a poor result, anything other than a win is a poor result for the Gunners at this point, regardless of circumstances...

I agree, and this was a terrible showing by Eboue. The first card was so needless.

What the hell was Eboue doing out there today.

This is going to be a very long transfer period this Summer. Ade seems like he is already gone and its going to be very hard to hang on to Cesc and Clichy, if we don't make the Champions League.

If someone will still be willing to offer around 20M for Adebayor, I'd sell him. If Milan had sold Kaka, they might have used some of the fortune to bring in the big man, but I'm not sure that they'll be willing to pay with his form, the economy, etc. I could see Clichy moving to Real or an Italian giant, not that I'd like to see it happen. Cesc leaving would be a crushing blow to all gooners as it's not like when Vieira or Henry left past their peaks. You have to think that the best of Cesc is yet to come...

I think Ade will hand in transfer request come Summer regardless of whether or not were in the CL. Just doesn't seem like he wants to be at Arsenal any longer. I think Madrid will make a serious run at Cesc and with no CL to offer him, I think he will leave in the end. Hopefully they make a run at Kaka instead. I'm like you with Clichy. I think somebody offers a price Wenger can't refuse and he ends up with a Milan, Juventus, or possibly Manchester City.

not too worried about ade with eduardo waiting in the wings ( has been looking electric in the reserves) as to Clichy he's actually gone backwards this season which should cool off the big clubs. Also there is no way Cesc signs for Madrid he's a Caatalan (imagine the Pope signing for Glasgow rangers) Unfortunatly there's no way he would nt sign with Barca

as too the game , if ever you get the chance you have to go to S**T hart lane for the derby, talk about atmosphere we had to wait till we got home to find out what a moron Eboue is, still cant accept that we did nt sell him for 4.5 million because"it would of left us short on the right"with luck he's gone this summer

Seeing how bitter the spurs fans were at the final whistle cheered me up no end and i thought we should of nicked it at the death but then i am bias

With the news that Adebayor will be out for three weeks with a hamstring injury, this presents the perfect opportunity for Wenger to work Arshavin & Eduardo back into the lineup. I fully expect RVP & Bendtner to start the FA Cup game a week from today, but we could get a glimpse of some interesting combos over the next month.

How about RVP leading the line with Arshavin in the hole? Or Eduardo up front with RVP as a second-striker? Hopefully those two will be fit enough to play significant minutes or options will be slim (although I guess I'm forgetting about Vela). If nothing else, maybe Adebayor seeing someone else playing up front (and hopefully scoring) will motivate him to up his work rate...

Well, three weeks is better than the 6 they projected, and it will be nice to see Eduardo and Arshavin worked in. I just hope this doesn't mean Bendtner sees the majority of the time, as even though Ade has been mediocre, Bendtner has been worse.

For enough money he will. Especially if the rumors of Madrid going after Arsene become a reality. I doubt Barca will come calling anytime soon with Xavi there, they really have no need for Cesc and Cesc knows that. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Cesc ends up at Madrid.
