I can't help but feel our defense still is just not good enough. No matter how much we score.

Our best back four, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen and Gibbs still are just not solid enough for this league.

Maybe it's coaching, though. Also, I think Mertesacker will claim a starting spot inevitably and be a very calming presence in the defense.

Gibbs might have saved our asses today. He can't help that he has to play two positions when Vermaelen makes dumb run after dumb run up the field. I think Bould will help the defense a lot and won't be quite the yes man that Pat Rice has been over the years.

Also the midfield MUST get better through the middle of the park if we want to have any chance of winning the league. Way too easy to make runs up the middle against us.

No, you're right, it isn't going to get any easier. Teams around us are going to be spending, and we will have to do the same if we are going challenge for a title, much less a CL spot. Podolski was a great start, but he was only a start.

That was a great tackle. I'm not anti-Gibbs, I just think that is one spot that we could upgrade.

I think that, that back four is very, very talented; but everybody wants to venture forward so much during a game, it leaves so much space for the opposing teams to operate a lethal counter-attack. They are more than good enough for this league, but all four of them (including Song) need some discipline instilled in them.

Looks like the club and RVP will begin talks Wednesday.

Very good point about Gibbs. Whenever he's in the bad spotlight, it's when he's in the middle covering. He usually shuts down the right side for the opposition.

Hopefully next season our defenders are given a shorter leash when going forward.

Nasri with last laugh, being a dick or both?

"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money," Nasri told the French television channel TF1. "I hope they are watching me now, collecting my Premier League winner's medal. I believe they have not won a trophy for many years now.

"I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, and I have proved it correct. I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me.

"If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team. There are many people doing this right now at Arsenal."
Samir Nasri has rounded on his former club, telling Arsenal fans to 'celebrate their third-place achievement and I will focus on winning titles'

He's a dick for the way he went there with his mouth running the entire time. Clichy on the other hand kept quiet and thanked the club and what not.

Now, in Nasri's last match for us he did play hard, but as a paid professional he should do nothing less.

The bottom line with him will always be that he got back what he gave in terms of attitude when leaving.

Notice how Toure and Clichy don't get booed when they touch the ball.

Guy is as bad as Cashley Cole as far as I'm concerned. He is a little punk and I can't wait til Eden Hazard comes in and takes his spot.

The Ox has been chosen for Euro 2012.

I hope he stays on the bench. Don't mess this up for us, Roy.

Also, Kagawa has come out and said he's spoken to SAF and wouldn't mind a move to the EPL. Blah blah, whatever. Highly unlikely we'd sign him anyway.

I would actually like Ox to play. I think top-level, high pressure football could do wonders.

As for Kagawa, and players like him, I hope all our transfer business gets done in a timely fashion. When Mata went to Chelsea, he said Arsenal came calling late, and then Chelsea swooped in. He liked Chelsea's prospects better, so he went to them. We can't let something like that happen again, because if a player like Kagawa has a choice between Arsenal and Man Utd., Arsenal is unlikely to win out. If we are aggressive with our transfer signings and don't draw things out, we might be able to avoid situations like what happened with Mata.

I just fear injuries for a young player who Arsene didn't play much down the stretch, for good reason I'm sure.

As for transfers, after last year I'm sure we'll be on an even tighter lockdown. The Mata situation got out which didn't help at all, so I'm sure we won't hear much until deals are done.

Looks like the RVP talks didn't go very well.

                                That figures.
