They did experiment with Gervinho at a target forward position during the Asian tour. I'll take that over Chamakh.

He's still on Olympic duty and will hopefully be gone by the end of August.

If we aim for his head, he might be serviceable.

Rumors are we're getting Cazorla for just £11.8 mil...if so, that's the biggest steal in the transfer market in years.

I been seeing some post on sky sports from Arsenal fans about how crap Cazorla is because he doesn't start for Spain (45 caps says hi) and how Arsenal needs a defender instead. These people clearly haven't watched him player over the years because he really is an elite player. He is small (only 5'6" 1.68M) but he is strong on the ball, can tackle, ambidextrous, great creativity and passing skills and world class ability on the ball.

He has been consistent through the years plus he has one of the best ability that any manager would wan't he is very coach-able and can adapt to almost any formation. Of course we won't know how will handle in EPL but I rest assured that if we do get that transfer for how much you said Mizzou I agree with you "it would be the biggest steal in the transfer market in years."

Regardless of how the rest of the transfers go, this offseason has been more bearable than last. I'm already over the RVP thing, which says something right there.

So is this cazorla thing finally done? It only been a couple of weeks since I started to follow this, but it seemed like an eternity.

By the end of Friday, I have a feeling it'll pretty much be done.

If it does go through, it's really a great signing. While a defender would be nice, we need a true attacking midfielder much, much more.

That is assuming that Steve Bould can fix a few of the defensive issues, which I think he can to an extent.

I think we are pretty good at the defensive side. I just that everybody just tries to go forward WAY too much during the match and it has cost us. It not a case of talent; we have seen what vermalean (I apologize for the poor spelling) and koscielny are capable of. Sagna is an amazing right-back for us, only question mark is the other full-back. I think is Steve Bould can fix some of the tactical problems, Arsenal can have a pretty good defensive season.

I can honestly say that I have never watched him before. I do not watch much soccer outside of me EPL bubble. But I am still very excited to see hime play in an Arsenal shirt.

I think going forward way too much is part of the defensive problems, but there also seems to be far too many lapses in concentration where people are either left unmarked on set-pieces, or nobody rushes to cover an open attacker streaking into the box. I'm hopeful Bould can fix these issues, because a team of Arsenal's caliber shouldn't be prone to mental lapses defensively.

I, too, would like to sign a defender (preferably a fullback), but an AM of Cazorla's quality was our most pressing need, so I'm glad we got that done.

It's been great to hear SZCZ say Bould has been working specifically on keeping their shape and also at reacting properly to losing possession. I truly believe we'll see an improved defense under his watch. There is a reason he was given that job.

We dont need new defenders , we have good ones already , the problem is that they lack as a group and thats problem of coaching .
