There may be something in the Essien link. He's not even on the bench for the Super Cup tonight.

Not sure why you all are surprised, I thought it was pretty obvious that business was done after RVP was soldComment

we kept Arshavin. Yay??
i had hopes for some movement, not looking for superstar 30 mil transfers, just some depth. Competing on multiple fronts will prove to be quite difficult.ARSENAL FC SAN ANTONIO SPURS HOUSTON TEXANS

There could still be some players leaving next week. Russia's transfer window does not close until the 6th.Comment

True, but Arshavin said he was staying. If he decides to ditch the laziness, he could be a great asset, but I'm not holding my breath on that front.Comment

For real, the midfield depth is trash at the current moment with us relying too much on Daiby to stay fit until October or November until possibly Wilshere and Rosicky get healthy and match fit. Also I wish there was cover bought for the sidebacks.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
No, but it might be if Diaby gets hurt and Wilshere isn't back. Or if there are injuries up top, and now we're relying on Chamakh to be our striker.
Our starting 11, when healthy, is very good. But there is a lack of depth in the squad that was sorely in need of being addressed, and it wasn't.
What's frustrating is that the Arsenal higher-ups assure us fans that the transfer profits from players like Song and RVP are made available to Wenger, and then they don't get spent. Wenger then claims "there was nobody available" that could be classified as "super quality," and reiterates the same old tired mantra that Arsenal "aren't looking for quality players, but rather super quality players." Meanwhile elite, super quality players are being sold and transferred by clubs who will actually spend money, and the Arsenal board lines their pockets with a nice profit. It's only a matter of time before Wenger trots out the "4th place is like a trophy" proclamation. Actually, Wenger, a trophy is like a trophy.
I hope this club surprises me this year and contends for a title. But I'm expecting another battle for 4th place. I don't expect Arsenal to be Chelsea or Man City and spend like crazy, but it would be nice if the club actually reinvested the money they received for their top players rather than keep the profits.Comment
