I think if he keeps growing at the rate he has, then he's definitely the future RB. I agree that he's astonished me so far this season. Next week is yet another huge test for our defense, though.

What is nice is that in years past, it would be our back five taking on Chelsea defensively, where this year it's the entire team. We're finally defending like we've always attached, as a unit.

As for Gervinho, I thought he played phenomenally in that he created so many chances for other players. His problem was that he consistently muffed chances his teammates created for him. He had an incredible opportunity to end the match, and his shot (which should have at least been on-target) was so far wide of the mark you'd think he didn't know where the net was. Still, I like what he brings in terms of creating chances, and once other start finishing better, I think he'll get quite a few assists.
Per definitely played the best game I've seen him play for Arsenal. Him and Koscielny make a fantastic pairing. I wonder who's going to start once TV5 is healthy.

Like you said about Gervinho, he can create so many chances around the goal, but it's what he does after that is what needs work. If he could just covert a third of the chances, he should keep Walcott designated to the bench.

<OI fell that last year, this would have been one of those games that they lost. Where they get so many chances at goal, covert nothing, and then lose all confidence after falling behind via set piece. So I'm happy for them to come out with a draw. I personally like this team a lot more than previous years teams and I'm looking forward to Wednesday's cup game against Coventry.

Walcott says it's not about the money and wants to stay at Arsenal. But from the sound of things he stating he'll re-sign if Wenger plays him as a striker. What do you guys think?

Theo Walcott wants to stay at Arsenal and become a club legend like Thierry Henry after insisting his ongoing contract negotiations are not due to demands for more money.

If he's actually saying he'll resign if he gets to play up front, let him go.

im pretty sure if wenger thought he could play upfront he would have already put him there last season. when/if he leaves i doubt anyone would put him front either.

then again henry thought he couldnt play that role when he first came to arsenal.

If Theo wants to play up front, he needs to start finishing. Bottom line. And as was said earlier, there isn't a club of Arsenal's stature that's going to give him first team football as a striker.

So in the end I think he resigns, and while Wenger may give him more of an opportunity up front (in CL group stage matches, for example), Walcott is going to have to become content with playing on the wing.

And if those around him keep playing at such a high level, he may have to become content with being an impact sub, an injection of pace off the bench.

i think him coming off the bench is his most damaging role.

I say give a couple of shots up front. I mean, he let Gervihno do it with postive results. I do not think that it will hurt us that much.

I don't see why they don't give Theo a couple of shots up front in the Carling Cup. He can't be anymore ineffective than he is on the wing most of the time.

The match isn't televised anywhere, unfortunately. Not a lot of demand for these early cup matches.

6-1 win and Giroud gets his first goal.

                            Very nice Wednesday evening.
