Also, I though it was very classy of both Walcott and Gervinho not to celebrate their goals (well, on Gervinho's second goal, that is). Walcott wouldn't celebrate against his former club, and Gervinho knew Ramsey made his second goal (and Ramsey was really unfortunate to have hit the post), so I loved seeing him point at Ramsey, then run and hug him. A lot of players would have celebrated as if the goal was all them.Comment

Not trying to be hard on the guy he still has talent and great potential, I am just glad Mannone is giving him some competition it should help keep his ego in check.Comment

My biggest problem with SZCZ that match, though, wasn't the blunder (which was bad, but thankfully didn't cost and will hopefully be an ultra rare occurrence), but instead was the way in which he constantly gave away possession when booting the ball down field. Too often he kicked it long and the only player who was in position to try and make a play on the ball was a Southampton player, and turning the ball over like that was a constant criticism I had of Almunia. I hadn't noticed it being this bad before today, so I hope it was just a one game thing. This was, after all, his first match back, so maybe he needed the match to shake off the rust. He won't be able to play like this against Man City and expect his team to win.Comment

That has always been his problem, his kicking, that first AC Milan UCL game comes to mind when he was poor in his kicking. He has to improve his accuracy and strength especially since Arsenal don't have a tall midfield. He needs to watch Victor Valdes and Pepe Reina.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Although, while I'm on that subject, there was one instance where both TVM5 and BFG went into the box at the same time and then stayed in the box, and against Man City next week they will kill us on the counter if that happens again. With the way our midfield has really put in the extra effort to get back and defend/win the ball back, I'm okay with TVM5 occasionally surging forward, as opposed to last year when I thought it left us way too exposed in defense. But Mertesacker has to stay back. He's too slow to be able to recover, and it's not like he's threat to score around the box (except on headers, but he's looked poor at that ever since his arrival).Comment
