It was merely a rumor, but I read that Dortmund want £5 million for Kagawa. If that is true, there is no excuse not to buy.

If they want £10 million, there is no excuse not to buy.

      The plot thickens.

Also, I'm really excited for Podolski to arrive. Obviously, him with RVP would be quite a pairing and he can of course play wide on the left. 14 goals for Köln last year and 18 this year. Only 26 and he can score and is physical with a very aggressive attitude. Lastly, very technically sound and will fit into the side seamlessly. Glad to have him aboard.
Hopefully he will give us another scoring option other RVP. Chamakh has been absolutely terrible after his bright start.

I think it's safe to say that Podolski will score. He's a much different player than Chamkh. He's sharpened his teeth in Germany and has loads of top class international experience.

Chamakh is on his way out this Summer. Seems like a certainty.

£5 million would be an absolute steal. I figured someone would be going once Reus was signed.

Yeah that would be fantastic. Any time you can sign a player of his quality for that little you jump, but I'm betting that's a rumor, as Dortmund know they can get more for him.

Still, though, a lineup of SZCZ, Gibbs, TVM, Kosc, Sagna, Song, Wilshere, Kagawa, Podolski, Walcott, and RVP would be pretty deadly, and with the likes of Arteta, Ramsey, Gervinho and Ox coming off the bench, I think we'd mount a serious title challenge.

Notice how we're only one signing away from having that? Crazy. It's still too early, buy the early purchase of Podolski is a good sign for how we might do business.

First thing first, we need to take care of Norwich on Saturday. Shouldn't be an issue. Well, shouldn't be.

You're right, it shouldn't be an issue, but I've learned not to get too confident with this team and its at times maddeningly inconsistent play from one opponent to the next. I predict a win, but I would also not be surprised if we dominated possession and chances but could only manage to score once, and they nicked an equalizing goal on the counter for a 1-1 draw.

I think the final game against WBA will trickiest of the two. I think we handle Norwich rather easily.

Then, maybe Villa can pull something out against Spurs on Sunday. Even if they draw and we win on Saturday, we're only three ahead. So, if Villa can win, and we do as well, we're in the clear.

I'm also assuming that City will take care of Newcastle.

A win and a spurs and Newcastle loss clinches third place for us correct?

Correct. We'd be up by four points on both.

Newcastle can not catch us in terms of goal differential, but we're only +1 on Spurs.

Spurs have looked deadly their last two matches and I fully expect them to win out, meaning of course we have to as well. I'm not so much worried about Norwich as I am West Brom, they're always tough at home and they have that "let's win out for Roy" mentality that's going to make them that much more difficult to defeat. To say I'm concerned would be an understatement because if Arsenal does lose we're forced to hope and pray that Bayern defeats Chelsea and that City take out Newcastle.

Interesting article on the players that Arsenal missed out on.

An incoming transfer oftentimes has a similar effect to a team victory. That feeling was on display once again Monday, when FC Cologne striker Lukas Podolski was officially announced as the newest Gunner...

                          C.Ronaldo was one of them.

Bleacher Report is the worst. Rehashing rumors from years ago and implying that they were really that close to coming to Arsenal? Talk about a stretch.

Agreed. It basically just picked a random assortment of players who are rumored to go to all big clubs.

Bleacher Report once again redefines the term lazy.

Didn't mean to pick on you there, RA. Because if you read beyond the article, you do come back to the fact that as an elite club, Arsenal has seemed to always be that one final world class piece short in recent years. Any number of those players or the long list of others that have come available could have helped them.

But Kreb is right, that article is just a lazy journalism at its finest. Even in the comments, people are pointing out players that were even closer to signing with the Gunners. The Ibra story is particularly hilarious - that's so Ibra.
