Jack played just over an hour today for the U21 side.

    The countdown is on.

Absoluetly. He has been fantastic all season. Just wish his finishing touch was better....

I think it's coming around it's already drastically better than it was last season. I think you will see Gervinho being a slightly worse version of Luis Suarez. Which isn't a bad thing.

What I like most about Gervinho is that the effort is never in question. He has his good days and he has his bad days but I never have any doubt that when he walks off the pitch he has given 110% for the club.

Diaby will miss the next three weeks with a thigh strain. Not too surprising given how long he was out.

Plus, there is an interlull, so he doesn't miss too many games.

Just thinking of Jack and Carzola linking with passes in the midfield already has me giddy as a school girl. Then you can bring Diaby on in the 2nd half with his pace if you want to protect the silm lead. I haven't felt this good about an Arsenal team's depth at the back and most midfield positions in a loooooooong time. Also the lads all seem to be buying in to the team concept as well and their roles (sans Walcott)

Any guesses on a lineup today?

                  I'm thinking

                  Mannone
                  Gibbs--TV5--Per---Carl
                  Arteta--Ramsey--Santi
                  Gervinho--Podolski--Ox

Arteta is doubtful I think with an ankle injury. He along with Diaby will be sorely missed in the middle.

I guess we know who the first choice pairing will be at centerback. Kos looks like the odd man out at this point. He just seems to be out of position on set pieces and takes too many silly cards and fouls right now. Hopefully he picks it up. And Gervinho is turning into something special.

I don't like him paired with Vermaelen they just don't make a good pairing and maybe Wenger will see this as well. no matter what Mertesacker needs to need as much as possible IMO.

Okay, Gervinho is finally winning me over!

Also, while Giroud is not scoring, his flick onto Ramsey is exactly the kind of player this team has been needing. So strong up front. I'd still like to see him get some starts and not come in and work from level or behind.

Gervihno is frustratingly our best player right now. The ultimate ball stopper.

Giroud looked fantastic, and he was so unlucky not to have scored. He's probably wondering what sacrifice he needs to make to the football gods to allow one of his shots to find the net.

Gervinho is going to be huge for you this year. Just has to work better on his first touch and finishing. Been really impressed with him after an up and down debut season last year.
