Good news coming out of the under-21 game this afternoon. Wilshere, Frimpong, and Sagna all played the full 90.

      Chamakh is on the bench!

A tweet on BBC: "If Chamakh is the answer, what on earth was the question?"

While Schalke are no slouches, not even close, that was still a poor result.

Interesting article in The Guardian talking about Gazidis going on the defense.

Ivan Gazidis has defended his approach to Arsenal's finances after being accused of putting their balance sheet before success

"In the next two years, we will have the financial resources to sit and compete among the leading clubs in the world, which is an extraordinary achievement."
That quote is interesting. While I don't doubt that we'll have more money, due to our meticulous planning with the stadium debt and what not, we certainly will not have as much as the leading clubs.

However, I don't think any of us here are asking for that. We're just asking for a little more. Not Man City or Chelsea money, but just a bit more than what we currently spend. It's the way of the world.

He says it every year. It's only a matter of time before he also claims Wilshere and Sagna are new signings.

He has said that since he sold Thierry Henry to Barca in 2007. I know we want to blame Nasri and Ashley Cole for leaving, but they were right when they said this club no longer has ambition to fix what is wrong.

Nothing will change until we miss the Champions League and miss out on that 40-60 million pounds we get from it. There is no reason to change what the board is doing when they are consistently rewarded for it with larger and larger profits, full stadia and merchandise sales.

It doesn't take Man City or Chelsea money either. Dortmund and Bayern Munich are proving that now in the CL. But you have to invest and plug holes. Yes, when this side is at full strength it can be among the best in England and Europe. However, S*** happens. Players get injuried, quality and form dips and other unforseen things can arise. Its about experienced depth and toughness. You can't compete for things like the EPL without them. You have to have those guys who's grit prevents 1-0 defeats and turns tem into 1-1 draws and 1-1 draws into 2-1 wins. I know we get all excited about Carzola and Gervinho and Giroud, however I still say Arsenal was at their best when the have guys who lock up the midfield and whose grit push and inspire the side. As important as Henry, Pires, and Bergkamp were to the Invincibles, Edu and Gilberto Silva were rocks in the side that give the team a little steel and grabbed draws from certain defeats and helped get wins from possible bad draws.

Until the club gets that through their head, they will continue to spin their wheels. I've stopped getting pissed about it all. 4th place is what we are aiming for and I've stopped talking myself into believing in anything beyond that including trophies. There is no point in arguing the point any further.

Bayern spends a crap ton of money on wages and just dropped 40 million euros this summer on Javi Martinez. They are a very rich club especially considering how financially prudent the other clubs in that country are.

Also, Bould needs shot for leaving Santos on in the second half of the Schalke game.

The fact that he had Koscielny warming up in the first half had me hopeful he'd put TV5 at left back.

I'm interested to see if Arsene starts Santos tomorrow. Gibbs has already been ruled out.

Yeah, Sagna should have started on the left and Jenkinson on the right of the defense. But hopefully we wont need to see Santos defending all that much today.
