Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Mario Balotelli for just £7.9million plus Costa Rica winger Joel Campbell.

Beware of Greeks bearing gifts guys. If AC Milan is this desperate to off load him, wait until deadline day and see. This deal is waaaaaaay to good to be true IMHO

Besides, do we want this nut case to destroy our locker room?? We don't need him taking red cards and dogging it when we are down a goal at the Bridge or when we hit a bad run of form.

It didn't to me, but it's not like I wouldn't welcome it. This may be more a push from Iker's peeps and Real Madrid more than true interest from Wenger. 2 years ago you make this move, no question, but yeah Iker is getting close to his sell by date.

Oh, I'd much rather have someone else than him, by far. I don't care what Suarez could've done for us, as it's just not worth it. Same goes for Mario.

And I'd like to see Campbell get a chance to play, but we do have several players who can be put on the wings.

Arsenal are closing in on a £12m deal for Southampton right-back Calum Chambers as Arsene Wenger wants the starlet to compete with Mathieu Debuchy for a first-team spot.

Arsenal complete the signing of teenage Southampton defender Calum Chambers for a fee understood to be about £16m.

Wow, didn't see this coming but Callum Chambers looks like he'll be joining us. Absolutely love the move. But Wow, just wow. I really fear for Southampton and the drop this year.

And Jenko is done at Arsenal if this goes down. Chambers is a future England international at RB or even CB with his body type. Jenko, not so much...

Also ignore the price, it's ranging from £7 to £16 million so who knows the true fee...

Chambers is an excellent signing. Massive potential. Reports are that Jenkinson would likely go on loan, which I think would be good for his development.

And this is how Arsenal transfers usually go down. A massive, crap-ton of rumors arrive, from out of the blue, and the deal is announced within a few days. The ones that drag on for weeks, like Khedira or Schwarzer a few seasons ago never pan out.

It was mentioned that Jenkinson and Gnarby could go on loan to Southampton as part of the deal. Good for the Saints, and those two.

Also rumored Jenkinson is sold, though, maybe West Ham.

Jenkinson may even get a two year loan. I think Arsene believes Chambers is a center back down the road. If Chambers does move to CB then there is path back into the first team. But yeah , he's gonna have to tear it up where ever he goes. I'd love Serge to go to Southampton for a year. their development of players is among the best in England and he'll come back a much more complete player.

The only thing I learned is we are way to short on CBs and strikers. Other than that, nada. We will see how good we are when we play Monaco in the Emirates Cup. Sanchez and Debuchy along with Giroud, Kos and TV5 will all play.

I am hearing the Khedira deal is back on? Apparently he has dropped his wage demands, don't know if Arsenal will still pull the trigger.

I've heard that too. Who knows, I gotta feeling the Khedira situation will drag on for the rest of the window. But, we are getting done signing absolute needs and now we are moving into depth and luxury signings. Such a nice change of pace from last summer. Our only true absolute needs are a backup CB and a loan for a 3rd GK which may get done soon. Then we can worry about Khedira, Bender, et al... And and another striker.

I have a feeling Chambers could be a good fit as DM as well. The few youtube vids I have watched of him seems like he is naturally a midfielder or CB rather than a fullback.

So, with the signing of Chambers in the region of £16m, I think we can all safely say now that if Arsene had the money to spend in the past several years, he would have.

Most of us can agree on that, correct?

To me, it's fairly clear that the money just wasn't there to be spent. Not that Arsene refused, and was being handed a "warchest" each Summer, only not spend it.

The stadium did it, as well as the initial stadium deal. However, as we've heard for years, after that rough patch we'd be able to compete at a higher level due to the increased revenue the stadium would bring.

Obviously, we must now win, but at least now we have the resources to win.
