Not all of those isolations were on Per however. Chambers was getting whipped down the right side and leaving acres of space behind him. Chambers and Per, just don't work together as a RB-CB tandem. If we were playing a better finishing team like y'all, we would have been burned repeatedly.
I meant in general. Yesterday Per seemed to be pretty solid positionally.

      "Win our last 9 games.
Chelsea draw against United and Liverpool and lose another game.
City draw one of their last 9 games.

      We win the league."

      Not serious by the way.

The fact that we're now in a position to finish 2nd or 3rd is fantastic. No CL qualification nonsense, and an improvement over last year.

I'd be thrilled with 3rd this year.

With the way last year started and the way this year is ending, I hope they can be consistent throughout all of next season.

Well, it was a valiant effort, but we just came up short. Yes, we should have had a penalty, but the loss on aggregate isn't on the refs. If we played better in the home leg, we would be through to the quarterfinals. That goal we gave up at the end of the home leg really hurt us.

We should win the FA Cup again this year, and if we can do that and a 3rd or 2nd place finish, I'd consider this year a success based on the expectations I had going into the season.

Another trophy and automatic CL qualification? Yes, please.

With how poor English teams did in Europe I would expect coefficients to change so third needs to happen just to be safe.

Won't happen anytime soon unless Italy and Portugal start doing really amazing in Champions league again even though in Europa league they are solid. At worst England could drop to 3rd with Bundesliga moving up to 2nd even then they would still have 4 Champions league slots.

There is no chance of England losing their 4th team this year. Associations 1-3 all have 4 teams in. England might drop behind Germany into 3rd, but England is 16 points ahead of 4th place Italy. Italy will gain ground simply because of the year that drops off, but not enough at this time.

UEFA.com is the official site of UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations, and the governing body of football in Europe. UEFA works to promote, protect and develop European football across its 55 member associations and organises some of the world’s most famous football competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women’s Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, UEFA EURO and many more. The site features the latest European football news, goals, an extensive archive of video and stats, as well as insights into how the organisation works, including information on financial fair play, how UEFA supports grassroots football and the UEFA HatTrick funding scheme.

Being 2nd or 3rd ranked doesn't affect where the 4th placed team enters either. 4th placed teams for the 1-3 ranked associations all enter in the final playoff round.

Finally, the fact that the Europa League winner gets a spot means they changed the rules so that an association can now enter 5 teams. This means that the only way 4th place does not enter the Champions League is if the winners of the two European Competitions are both from England AND both finish outside the top 4. At this point, that would be impossible.

That's good they take the 5 year average then.

Giroud scores two to continue his red hot form, and Arsenal gets another win. Things are looking way better than they did back in October.

Especially considering 2-3 years ago that was the type of game we'd lose after that lead and the second half pressure.

I'm interested to see when Arsene decides to give some rest to Alexis. He said he needs rest, but he doesn't know when he can rest him, and he's of course now going to be playing for Chile, but without travel.

Well, the problem is when do you do it?? Home to Liverpool, at Burnley (fighting for survival) FA Cup Semi with Reading and home to Chelsea and at United the first week in May. It sucks, but we really, really need him.
