Amy Lawrence's article in The Guardian has been updated it seems, to make it now more of a clear reporting that he's leaving and not that there's just speculation.

If this is true and he goes—what an embarrassing mess.

          --

Update: Raphael Honigstein is now reporting that Mislantat is leaving "after a series of disagreements over the organizational structure and transfer strategy."

          We're a ****ing joke.

I’m so tired of bad news—or no news.

Seems as though the entire club is a dumpster fire which starts at the top.

I think the problem is easily identifiable. The issue is, how do you solve it? I don’t see how this is fixed?

                Step 1: Become Wealthy
Step 2: No, I mean like insane wealthy
Step 3: Try again, we're talking like wipe your *** with a $100 bill and flush it with zero remorse wealthy.
Step 4: Make Kroenke an offer he can't refuse.
Step 5: Not that low, make it so he literally cannot refuse it
Step 6: Double your previous offer for god's sake
                Step 7: ???????
                Step 8: Profit.

Ornstein quotes on Ozil: (thanks whoever compiled these on Reddit)

"They’re not just rumors. Unai Emery has suggested to Mesut Ozil that it would be best for him to leave the club. And the hierarchy of the club feels that they would like him to move on."

"He has no desire to leave, Mesut Ozil, so he won’t be leaving in the January transfer window. I’m told he’s working extremely hard to get himself fit."

"The word was he wasn’t doing a lot of the extra work most players were, and he is now. I’ve heard positive things about his behavior, his commitment, his relationships with the teammates."

"I think that’s mainly financially driven for a player earning £350,000 per week but also related to that is the fact he is not performing anywhere near the level when he has played on a consistent basis as we know he can produce from the past."

**** me—that's the only thought I have now. More to come later.

I mean, if Ozil is having a change of attitude, and wants to work hard to be in the team, I'm super in to that. Also can't blame the guy for not wanting to ruin his current paycheque.

If this is true, it validates Emery's handling of the situation to me. If he is showing a change of attitude and can keep it up, great—but just the fact that the attitude needed to be adjusted in the first place is ridiculous.

I definitely do not blame him for not wanting to make less money, as it's not his fault someone gave him that contract. Apparently, Arsene was even against the contract as he felt it would be an issue for whoever came in next because there's no way to move him on, and the whole "you can't not play him" if he's making that much nonsense.

Overall, I'm very scared of where we might be heading as a club in general. What was once hope is now not so hopeful.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

I'm still full of hope, I just realize that it's gonna take time, and it's gonna be messy at first.

I trust Sanlehi, I trust Emery. Wenger papered over a lot of cracks in his tenure as manager, we'll need to address them as we move forward, and because of who our owner is, we're not going to make the immediate sweeping changes that need to occur. Our organizational infrastructure is finally getting closer to a modern standard, and once that is complete we'll be in better shape as a club. I would expect us to make a few medium signings over the next few years while we seek stability outside of the Champion's League, which will eventually lead to our push back to the Champion's League. Overall, I think the post-Wenger modernization of the club should take 3-4 years, and we're in year 1, so it's gonna take a bit of patience, and a lot of growing pains.

I think I understand Ozil in Ozil's situation more than most would. It's been a strange year for him, and I can imagine coming off the World Cup that motivation was hard to find. If I'm being completely honest, I think all the time off recently was to get himself straight, it was probably a bit of a nagging back/knee injuries, but also mentally. I genuinely think the Erdogan/Germany stuff messed with him more than he will let on. A change in attitude and work ethic is fantastic news either way, and I'm choosing to view most of this in a positive light because it shows what Emery is doing behind the scenes.

I'm still optimistic for the future, even if I'm slightly unhappy that as a fan I'm basically writing off two years of trying to compete with the clubs I feel we should be competing with.

If reports are believed, Sanllehi would rather rely on his continental connections to make signings and build the squad, while Mislantat preferred finding young players, making profits when possible, repeat, etc.

It's not this simple most likely, but I'd much rather see us build as Dortmund did with Mislantat than attempt to sign Barca castaways and use Sanllehi's connections to sign players which might cost more than we should pay, and can not move on for a profit.

If we're going to rebuild with our ownership, it'll have to be through shrewd signings, and not thinking we can compete with the elite—because we can not due to our ownership.

I can't trust anyone more than another right now due to having seen so little, but if my feet were to the fire I'd much prefer Mislantat staying and being given power than Sanllehi who I believe had power at Barca during a period which then saw them be investigated for their transfer dealings.

Losing Mislantat would be a massive blow, as it was an amazing "signing" when he joined—to the point that it's hard to believe it still happened.

I'm all about patience and waiting because what we need to do will take time. But, we can't rebuild with just any strategy, and certainly not one that relies too heavily on buying high.

I should say, I trust Mislintat more than Sanlehi, but I'm operating under the assumption that Mislintat is already gone. I would also prefer the "Dortmund method" though I could operate without the selling.

To your last statement, if we choose to go the Sanlehi route, that's fine, as long as we operate under that premise fully, and we don't do things half-heartedly. My worst fear is that we end up like United post Ferguson where it's basically been a cascade of instability. I'm all for a drop in expectations as long as it isn't permanent as we adjust to the 'new' Arsenal.

I think most Chelsea fans would be more than happy than settling for a draw. We're getting healthier with our attacking options but we still struggle to score.
