The long story short, while ending with Kroenke, does include the fact that in the early 2000s, Arsenal committed to building a new stadium(The Emirates) and upgrading all of their facilities, so that they could become a self-sustaining club. At the time that this whole "plan" was started, was around the same time as the ITV Digital failing which caused more than a few teams in the lower divisions to go bankrupt. For Arsenal and it's shareholders, it was a good idea to make sure that the club wasn't reliant on outside sources of income.


Fast forward to the crazy TV deals that exist now, and Arsenal haven't adapted any sort of new policy. While they're certainly not as frugal as they were during the stadium era, they aren't as free-spending as we'd probably need to be to become a proper title challenger.

It is, but if he wanted crazy wages (I'm sure he did because the next thing I'm going to say) then I'm glad he's not staying. We've already ****ed ourselves with the Ozil contract and we don't need to do it with another player.

I just came here to post this.

We may be getting the answer to the age old question of whether it was Wenger or the board who was cheap.

I seriously doubt it is due to a lack of cash.

I'm okay with loans in January if it means we're doing one of two things:

1. Signing the player on a permanent deal in the Summer if the loan works out.
2. A stop-gap replacement because we can't get who we actually want until the Summer (this happens all the time, but often clubs don't loan a player for the time being but we're desperate).

A lot of the incompetence seems to be tied back to Gazidis, which is why it's great that he's gone. Remember, he just left—give the new structure time to clean up the **** that was left behind.

I'm not saying we're going to put down £50m plus on a defender—I'm saying we're still very much in the beginning stages of a serious transition phase.

Torreira and Guendouzi (he's raw but you can see the talent) are products of our new structure and practices—give it time.

Stan the Man is building a 6 billion dollar palace in LA, so that’s where his money is going, even if he was going to invest in the club.
