Why do that when we can have Xhaka lumbering around the midfield?

Seeing Torreira in the box trying to finish chances today makes my ****ing head spin.

My prediction for the team tomorrow:

Leno, Chambers, Sokratis, Luis, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Ceballos, Saka, Pepe, Auba

99% positive it'll be this exactly.

After the international break, Tierney and Hector both take over the starting fullback places, and Holding also becomes a starter.

I want so desperately to see another tasty team sheet today.

Unfortunately, I think it’s inevitable that we see one that doesn’t include most of the boys we WANT in it..

My hope is regardless of the squad, we’re aggressive and not passive.

The squad can, of course, dictate that.

The team sheet guess was spot on. Once again, no Ozil in the squad, but Holding and Tierney to make the bench.

Sad to see Torreira on the bench, but glad to see Ceballos starting as he'll most likely be used to link the midfield to the attack.

My thoughts on catching most of the first half:

                  1. Pepe should have been awarded that penalty, and that’s what he brings to the table

                  2. Ceballos adds that much needed spice to the midfield, and I think he’s the closest thing to Cazorla since his departure.

                  3. I hope playing from the back doesn’t come back to haunt us in the 2nd half

                  4. I’d love to see a Tierney cameo.

100% agree—even winning a penalty and converting the penalty could continue to help build his confidence. He needed that.

As for the second half, it could be 1-1 at any moment now. Bournemouth are much more positive and getting through us far easier. Ideally, as the game opens up, our front three have space to operate within.

Very happy with three points, very happy with a clean sheet, but my goodness the performance overall was still very troubling.

I think it was jb who pointed it out last season, very correctly, that our results were not indicative of how we were playing. It was true, and as the season went on the performances caught up with the results.

It still feels the same. Yes, we're grabbing points, but we're not showing that we can sustain a run, or consistently score or defend well. If that matched finished 1-1 or 1-2, it would not have been surprising given how we played.

Results masked things last year, and I fell for it—not happening again. We're not playing well at all right now.

I rang the results don't matter bell all last year, especially during the undefeated run, where we played terribly and got decent results.

                          It was you!

Well, I’m on that train this year. It’s all too familiar.

Agreed. However, I argue we are playing well when we are set up and selected properly (see Thursday).

I’m not looking at the results (unbeaten in the last 5 though), but the table.

Thanks to Mr. Traore, we are 1 point off of City for 2nd.

Considering the back 4 is about to get a total makeover, I’d say the storm was navigated quite well.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

I got curious (I just can't enjoy anything, and I'm increasingly interested in new data in the sport) so I went back and looked at the final expected goals(xG) and points (xPTS) for last season.

                                Goals: 73
                                xG: 64.80

Really, the xPTS tells the story of our season even better.

                                Points: 70
                                xPTS: 58.97

Now, if you really want to get masochistic, keep reading.

In the 15/16 season (Leicester title win) our final xPTS was 77.01—the next highest total was Man City at 70.14. Nearly 7 points higher, and we finished ten points behind the winner.

                                Have a good Sunday!
