14:1 shots comparison in the first half.

THAT is more like it. I understand it’s Forrest, but those are the numbers we should expect to see.

From what I read, Tierney has been as advertised, and more..

**** me, I don't care if it was only against Forest—play that team against United with a few minor changes.

I wish that we could take Xhaka's long passing ability and give it to Torreira. If we could honestly just combine Torriera and Xhaka we'd have a world class midfielder.

Also, you all are well aware of how I feel about playing the kids, so I'm aboard that train already.

Aside from the kids, it was absolutely glorious to see Holding and Bellerin back in the first team.

Add chambers and Tierney in there and you have my preferred back line.

Emery has some choices to make to in regards to the midfield. I just don’t want any of them to involve Xhaka.

I don't know if Arsenal will be able to pull off a magnificent play against Manchester United on Monday night but one thing is for sure it will definitely be an intense match between these two teams. The Red Devils may have the best goalkeeper in the competition yet they have the worst defence this season which they need to work on if they want a better League standing. I feel like Unai Emery squad will go for a back to back win after a successful game against Aston Villa.

I enjoy how melodramatic you are about Xhaka, it's basically entertainment at this point.

Even so, I think this SHOULD be dreamland for you, since our captains haven't lasted long since Patrick Vieira. Look at this list since him

                  William Gallas(ended up sitting out)

Cesc Fabregas(sold to Barcelona after missing 1/2 a season)
Robin van Persie(sold to Manchester United)
Thomas Vermaelen(displaced then sold to Barcelona)
                  Mikel Arteta(injured then retired)
                  Per Mertesacker(injured then retired)
                  Then our group of five
                  Laurent Koscielny(sold to Bordeaux)
Aaron Ramsey(Left on a free to Juventus)
Petr Cech(retired and decided to go blue for some reason)
                  Mesut Ozil(basically in exile)
                  Granit Xhaka(still here!)

So if history shows us anything, we'll lose him next summer, so your 'nightmare' shouldn't last long. I'm sure you'll milk it for all it's worth though.

Also - let's not forget that the players had a big say in who would be captain as well, I know Xhaka is well-liked as a captain, leader, and presence in the dressing room.

If you're speaking to me, no? Just pointing out that he may need to find a new schtick soon and actually start contributing apart from nonsense like

Much like my discussion with Kreb about how utterly ****ing useless shots are as a metric, I kind of just hold this hope that we'll hold ourselves to slightly higher discussion standards. Also just wanted to point out how meme worthy our previous permanent captains have been because oof

Anyway....so now I assume the starting midfield against United will be Xhaka/Douzi, then either Ceballos/Willock/Ozil. Why Emery isn’t starting Torreira is a mystery to me at the moment.

However, I trust Emery and his coaching staff (who have way more knowledge about football than I do) are making the right decision.

I would really enjoy coming away with 3 points on Monday.

                        Suntan,

If you’re picking a team sheet, who do you name first Saka or Nelson? I would personally put Saka before Nelson at this moment but it was great to see Nelson get a goal the other night.

This list makes me sad but I actually glad they decided to just make this permanent and put some stability to this club. Emery should have made it clear before the season started but whatever.

I'm certainly no more knowledgeable than any single person here, but as far as I can tell, Torreira is missing out because of his passing being erratic. Guendouzi and Xhaka are progressive passers that are able to pick out good passes to make. Torreira has a decent short passing game, but his long passing has been... atrocious for the most part. I think because we only have David Luiz that can distribute from the back reliably, Emery is putting more of an emphasis on centering the ball in the midfield instead of the defense, and having Guendouzi and Xhaka pick out the pass to move us forward.

I think it depends on what position I'm choosing for, and who they are surrounded with. Both are extremely talented but have talents that lie in very different areas. First Nelson is right-footed, while Saka is left-footed, so if we're putting them on the left wing, I'd personally prefer Saka, on the right wing I'd prefer Nelson. If we're looking to attack with fullbacks like Klopp I would switch that so either of them could cut inside on their strong foot as well. Overall, I think Nelson has a bit more polish to his game, and is a bit more mature in his thinking, but I think Saka has a lot of spark and is willing to do everything it takes. It's a good question, just not one with an easy answer unfortunately.

I don't think Emery thinks the captaincy matters, that's why he has his "Group of Five"

Bellerin played 90 for the U23s today, so I would expect Chambers to play at RB Monday due to Maitland-Niles’ suspension.
